What do you like best about Gusto?

I find Gusto very simple and easy to manage. As a 1099 contractor it's very important to me to be able to keep track all of my payments each week and I have not once experienced an issue with the performance and accuracy of each payment date. I feel Gusto's integrations of different features like its AI intelligence also help eased me into something that could be otherwise confusing making the pricing worth the experience you get. What do you like best about Gusto?

The interface is very intuitive. Even for someone using the software for the first time, the basic functions are easy to understand without much additional training. If you need help with more specific or advanced questions, the support resources, training materials, and customer support are easy to follow.

I also find Gusto’s integrations very helpful. They make it easier to connect payroll and HR with other tools we use and allow Gusto to function as part of a broader corporate ecosystem rather than as a standalone system.

I also really appreciate how advanced and reliable the payroll processing workflow feels. One of my favorite features is being able to stop in the middle of payroll, come back later, and continue exactly where I left off without losing any data.

I do believe the price is justified for the quality of the product. Gusto is very reliable and can replace a significant amount of administrative work that would otherwise require additional staff. Optional services, such as outsourced HR remote support, can also help companies reduce costs.

The smart and automated features included in Gusto complement the core functions very well and make the overall experience much more comfortable.

One feature I especially appreciate is the automated analysis during payroll submission. Gusto reviews the current payroll against previous payrolls and flags numbers or changes that look unusual compared with normal patterns. It feels like having an additional assistant doing a final double-check before payroll is submitted.

This is extremely useful for catching potential errors and gives me much more confidence that everything has been processed correctly.

What do you dislike about Gusto?

My only concern is that the pricing structure for HR Partner feature (remote HR) can become too expensive for a company like ours. We have a relatively large number of entry-level employees in the same role who require very little HR support, while most of our HR questions and support needs relate to higher-level and management positions.

Because pricing is largely based on total employee count, we would end up paying significantly more for employees who do not actually require much additional service. I would strongly suggest considering a more flexible pricing model that takes employee type or level of support into account, rather than relying primarily on headcount. What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?

Before Gusto, we were using several different platforms for HR. Payroll was handled in one system, onboarding workflows in another, and employee records and documents were stored somewhere else.

Now Gusto brings most of that into one place. When a question comes up, we know where to look. We can review an employee’s history, audit changes, track requests, access documents, and generate payroll reports for financial analysis from the same system.

What do you like best about Gusto?

I love how aesthetic it is and how easy it is to use.

As a business owner, we’ve tried other software that wasn’t user-friendly at all, and I felt like I spent more time trying to figure it out than working on other tasks to help the business grow. With gusto, once everything is set up, it only takes a few steps to get things done. There are also SOOO many help articles, and they’re genuinely useful, so I hardly ever need to contact customer support. When I do reach out, though, the problem gets resolved the first time.

I love the integrations with checkr specifically, doing background checks was a pain before using gusto, and now it's just a click of a button!

What do you dislike about Gusto?

One of the things that I wish gusto had was better mobile time tracking, specifically integrating all the time tracking features that are included in the desktop on the mobile app such as project tracking. Right now our employees have to be on the desktop app to use the project tracking features, but they all say it would be helpful if they could just use the mobile app. Also I've noticed that the mobile app sometimes takes a long time to load, so as far as performance goes, that could be improved. Before using gusto, we were using a software that was with a small local company. At first, everything was working fine when I had a lot of support, but after the onboarding I got lost and was always needing help navigating the system and knowing what to do about a new situation. With gusto, I honestly don't remember onboarding, but I know that once we were onboarded everything was so easy, and if I ever ran into an issue I could usually find the answer on the help articles/videos and if not, customer support was amazing. Also, the integrations solved a lot of problems for us as well. Before using gusto, we were spending a lot of time doing HR tasks and payroll tasks, when we could have been spending time making money and building the business. It is a easy way to view my important documents, my pay information, anything to do with tax info, etc. It also provides extra features like being able to view my paycheck early if I wanted to, although I don't use these. I like how it is a simple program that gives me exactly what I want, and doesn't force me to dig through tons of different pages. What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?

Gusto is solving all of our HR needs for our remote nonprofit, with staff all throughout the United States. It is low-cost, allowing us to keep our overhead cost at a minimum and providing us the opportunity to use more of our resources (time and money) for other aspects of the organization. It is easy for contractors and staff members, and decreases the amount of time we need to spend on HR work. It also allows us to send documents to staff and have them sign them directly through Gusto - decreasing time and money for other software needs for the same work.
