"The Gusto product is quite acceptable and does a good job of organizing everything"
What do you like best about Gusto?

I would say the password management function is probably the best feature. I have like 15 log ins and can never remember any of them. This thing helps me out big time. And unlike our previous system, it's very readable; ours looked like an Excel sheet from 1999. When you are paid, Gusto emails you with a funny GIF in your work email – that is the only work email I ever open. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Gusto?

Occasionally, the page takes too long to load. I swear my internet is dead. It just spins. I don’t like that I can’t view the exact date the money hits my bank account. It creates a lot of stress when rent is due. Also the support is simply a chatbot that emails me links to articles that I’ve already read which is very annoying as I just want to speak to someone. "Streamlined HR and Payroll"
What do you like best about Gusto?

I really appreciate using Gusto for HR compliance and payroll, along with storing employee documents. The Mineral feature is particularly valuable, as it allows me to consult with pros for clarification on regulations and laws. It's a huge plus to have a team of experts available to walk me through standards and procedures that have to follow specific guidelines. I find Gusto makes running payroll incredibly easy with its direct deposit and auto-calculations of pay, saving me from the complex process. The integrated background checks are quick and simple, adding to the ease of handling our HR tasks. Additionally, the harassment training feature is straightforward to purchase and assign, and again, makes it really easy to follow state regulations without having to go outside of gusto and buy expensive packages. I really like how Gusto allows for tailored features to individuals, avoiding the need for entire group purchases that might not suit everyone. It's also worth noting the service's price is super reasonable given the value provided. I would definitely recommend Gusto to any business looking to streamline payroll and personnel tasks, while having a team of people on your side to help with every step along the way. "Easy and reliable payroll and HR for growing teams"
What do you like best about Gusto?

Gusto is easy to use and doesn’t feel overwhelming. Payroll runs are simple, the interface is clear, and employees can easily find what they need on their own. The automation around taxes and compliance is a big plus and gives peace of mind. Overall, it saves a lot of time and makes day to day HR tasks much smoother. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Gusto?

Some features are a bit basic if you need more advanced HR tools or detailed reporting. There are moments where you want more flexibility or customization. Also, the cost can add up as the company grows and more features are added. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Effortless Payroll and Tax Compliance for Small Businesses"
What do you like best about Gusto?

What I like best about Gusto is how simple and reliable it makes payroll and tax compliance. Running payroll is very straightforward, and the system clearly breaks down gross pay, employee deductions, employer taxes, and total employer cost, which is extremely helpful for budgeting and cash-flow planning. Automatic tax filings and reminders reduce the risk of missing deadlines, and the reporting tools make it easy to review payroll history and year-to-date totals. Overall, it saves time and reduces administrative stress for a small business. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Gusto?

Some more complex payroll scenarios, such as retro payroll adjustments or correcting past payments, are not as intuitive and may require support or extra steps. While customer support is generally helpful, response times can vary depending on the issue. Additionally, certain advanced reporting or customization options could be expanded for businesses with more complex payroll needs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Slow Login and Lack of Pay Transparency Disrupt Workflow"
What do you like best about Gusto?

I'm not sure I like anything other than

how easy it is to request sick time,I often get frustrated when using this app. Also why would I refer a friend to a payroll app payroll is decided by a company they work for unless you're trying to get me to refer to friends that run small businesses there's no reason for me to refer this to anyone in my life Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Gusto?

Logging in takes far too long—usually between two and five minutes—which disrupts my schedule. After finally getting in, I often have to go back and edit or explain why I needed to adjust my hours. This makes it seem as if I’m trying to manipulate my time, even when that’s not the case. The delays are especially frustrating when I need to log in quickly for something brief or temporary, or when I’m commuting. Additionally, the system doesn’t show me my estimated paycheck until after I’ve already been paid; it only tells me the date I’ll receive my paycheck, which I already know. "Gusto-Easy to use and great banking features!"
What do you like best about Gusto?

I really like how easy it is to use and navigate through Gusto. It's really easy to find what I need and to get to customer service if necessary. I love the Gusto spending account features like how you can split your paycheck up into different accounts and the early paydays. I am going to start using the savings goal feature. I also like how when I need to chat with customer service about my spending account they respond quickly and are always very helpful. I also love how I can keep track of my time off hours and requests. It's great how I can see overviews and detailed info about my paychecks and my hours for the day. Gusto is awesome on multiple levels, from reviewing and uploading documents to the W2 form being available by January 15th to the advance pay option where your advance limit rises quickly with responsible usage. I'm looking forward to new features from Gusto in the near future! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Gusto?

So far the only thing that comes to mind is that you can't lock your spending account card if it gets lost. Unless I just haven't discovered how. It would be nice if we could use Zelle with our Gusto spending account, maybe soon! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Effortless Payroll Setup"
What do you like best about Gusto?

I was able to set up my pay periods exactly how I wanted them to be scheduled. I tried another app/software before Gusto, and though I follow the instructions that they provided, they were unable to set up my pay roll schedule how I wanted (and what would work best for my small business). I wasted so much time and frustration with them, but Gusto relieved that instantly. Payroll is so fast and so easy to run. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Gusto?

Not sure if this is a Gusto problem or a bank problem, but I wish I had more control over when the funds were deposited into my employee's direct deposit account. It appears as "pending" for them on pay day. I wish I could run the payment a day early so it cleared on the actual pay date, but I am not seeing an option where I can still have Friday as the "pay date" on the paystub but transfer the funds on Thursday. "Why Gusto Works for Our Auto Repair Shop"
What do you like best about Gusto?

I really appreciate Gusto’s AI‑powered search feature, which makes it easy to quickly find answers and navigate the platform. When I do need additional help, their customer service team has been excellent—responsive, knowledgeable, and always following up with an email to document the conversation. The payroll process itself is extremely user‑friendly, with customizable earnings, smooth off‑cycle payroll options, and an intuitive interface that makes managing payroll simple and efficient. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Gusto?

The only challenge we’ve experienced is that Gusto offers many optional add‑on services per employee, which can make it difficult to quickly understand what is included versus what is an extra cost. A more streamlined view or clearer breakdown of required vs. optional services would make the platform even easier to navigate. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great for Contractor Payments, Setup Needs Improvement"
What do you like best about Gusto?

I like that Gusto was very automated, sending all the required information to my contractors for them to complete, like their Social Security, which I didn't want to be responsible for handling. I appreciate how it allowed me to easily pay my contractors and keep track of the payments in one place. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Gusto?

When I used Gusto, my issue was that I clicked the wrong button when initially setting up my account. I needed the service for contractors, but I accidentally selected payroll. They were not able to fix it by removing the one payroll option from my account, so I had to start over and enter all the contractor information again. This was time-consuming as I had over 30 vendors to manage. I just thought they should have had a better fix for that. Also, I ended up getting billed for that one payroll seat which I never used because we only had contractors, not employees. Setting up wasn't the easiest. It was intuitive, but there were a lot of questions I had during setup. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"User-Friendly Interface and Outstanding Support at a Great Price"
What do you like best about Gusto?

The user interface is super friendly. The last (big name) payroll provider I was using was incredibly difficult to navigate the online portal. Gusto has been the opposite. The customer support is prompt and very helpful, typically resolving my issues very quickly. It is also very reasonably priced for my small business with only a couple employees. I also just added health benefits administered through Gusto which was actually very easy to implement. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Gusto?

I did have some difficulty due to switching to Gusto in the middle of the year, but support was able to help me get accurate journal entries to get everything up to date and accounted for from my previous payroll provider. I also didn't love that their integrated partner that provides 401k was very expensive compared to other 3rd party options. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
