Gusto is user-friendly for both employers and employees. Account setup feels seamless and straightforward. From an employer standpoint, the platform is easy to navigate and use; however, more robust reporting structures would be helpful. For example, having suggested reporting templates, rather than relying on a self-help format, would make it easier to find what you need. An AI-assisted tool would also be a big improvement compared to reading through pages and pages of “self help,” especially if you’re a new user versus someone who’s already familiar with the platform. Gusto has made payroll and onboarding SO MUCH EASIER. When I first set up my startup, I used QBO for payroll. It was a nightmare, and got almost everything wrong. Some of the automations Gusto tries to work in can be annoying. For example, I want to add my employees' work emails to the system, but I don't want to link their google workspace account with Gusto. The time and attendance part feeds payroll and that's the one thing I care about. That alone has reduced countless stupid mistakes. (bus is running late, btw... so I now have time to complete this). The self-serve aspects of Gusto are very solid as well. Employees can obtain their own pay stubs and tax documents through Gusto's portal and HR won't even have to receive an email asking them to send the employee the documentation. Navigation is a little clunky and feels like simple tasks take a lot of clicking and menu navigation. Petty annoyance, but the worker's comp policy document has never downloaded correctly... I receive the email stating it is ready and then I log into the Gusto portal to find no document is there... EVERY SINGLE TIME... I have to contact them to resend it. Frustrating. I use Gusto for paying myself with a W-2 for my small business. I love how Gusto solves the complex parts of running payroll like tax handling, payroll taxes, Social Security, and Medicare by handling it all for me. The software is super simple to use; I just click pay, and it does everything, including withholding my taxes and generating my 1040 at year-end. I think I like most about Gusto is actually the user interface. It's super simple, cut and dry, and not complicated. You just click a button to run payroll, which makes it very easy to use. It makes everything in my business very systemized and easy to handle, especially monotonous tasks like payroll. I just want to hit a button, and it's taken care of. It also happens automatically in the background, so payroll is done, taxes are taken, and sent to IRS automatically without me worrying. The setup was very easy and very simple, took only a few minutes, and was definitely more simple than other payroll providers. I already recommended it to another business and referred them. My one major issue with using Gusto was the delay during my first and second payroll runs. I had selected next-day direct deposit, but I was initially told that I would need to wire the funds instead. I spoke with three different representatives over the phone explaining that I had chosen next-day direct deposit, which made the process a bit frustrating at first. I find Gusto easy to use and appreciate the in-depth distribution of paychecks. I also like that they have their checking account, and it's easy to track 401k and personal savings distribution. The paycheck amount for the current period. Earlier I was able to see it 2 days before the paycheck hit my account, but after recent updates, I can just see it on the day of the paycheck. I like to see my paycheck amount in advance so that then I can distribute and see my finance structure for the next 2 weeks in accordance and budget it accordingly. I really appreciate the dashboard and how user-friendly it is. I think the vibe of it is actually really nice. It's easy for me to use on the admin side, and it's easy for employees to use on their side as well. It's comprehensive without being overly complicated. One of the things that is not ideal is the state tax setup has to be done with a third party, and some of the third-party integrations in the past haven't been the best. Also, there's no way to retroactively correct pay and have it be auto-calculated, so math has to be manual and input in as additional pay if there's a change in payroll that needs to be retroactive back to a specific date. I love that Gusto is user-friendly. It's very understanding and easy to navigate. The timekeeping is very valuable as it helps us keep track of our employees, whether they are remote or on-site. I don't like the timekeeping feature in Gusto. While it's helpful for monitoring time cards, I can't edit time entries in real-time if someone clocks in late. I have to wait until they clock out to make changes, which creates some barriers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Everything about the platform is extremely easy to use and clear cut. It is very organized and I have never had any trouble finding any areas of the site. I use Gusto very frequently to track my paychecks, new work documents, and review my information. I also like that you are able to see all employees of the company and who their manager is, as well as their current role at the company. The look of the platform is very organized and polished. I have not had any negative issues with Gusto in the two years that I've been using it. Any time the information has been incorrect on Gusto, it has been because my company has yet to update the platform with job title changes, salary increases, or documents.
