"Google Authenticator: Fast and reliable OTPs, with synchronization between devices"
What do you like best about Google Authenticator?

What I like the most

Google Authenticator shines for its immediacy: open the app, generate the code, and you're in. No frills, no distractions. The speed with which it generates reliable and synchronized OTPs makes it one of the most solid tools for two-factor security. The interface is essential but functional, and the configuration of new accounts via QR code is very quick. The recent ability to synchronize codes through a Google account greatly simplifies management across multiple devices, reducing the risk of being locked out of your services. What do you dislike about Google Authenticator?

The app remains deliberately minimalist, but some advanced organization options — like folders, tags, or search — would be useful for those managing many accounts. Also, the lack of offline encrypted backups could be a limitation for more technical users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Simple and Reliable Two-Factor Authentication for Everyday Security"
What do you like best about Google Authenticator?

What I like most about Google Authenticator is how simple and reliable it is. As a company user, it does exactly what I need it to do, without any unnecessary complexity. Setting it up with my work accounts was quick, and once everything was configured, generating one-time codes was instant and consistently dependable. I also appreciate that it works offline, which is especially helpful when internet access is limited. The interface is clean and straightforward, making it easy to use every day without any confusion. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Google Authenticator?

One downside is the lack of advanced features in older versions, such as cloud backup or straightforward account recovery. If your phone is lost or you switch devices, getting your accounts back can be stressful unless you had already set up backups. It also doesn’t offer much context about which service a code belongs to, unless you clearly name it during setup. Overall, these are manageable issues, but they’re still worth noting. "Accessible Anywhere: Google Authenticator’s Gmail Sync & Easy Code Transfers"
What do you like best about Google Authenticator?

I like that the Google Authenticator App is associated with my personal Gmail account that I use daily, which makes it very accessible anytime, anywhere. There’s also an option to transfer codes to another device, which is very practical when I want to use two mobiles. I also appreciate that I don’t have to be connected to Wi‑Fi to use the app. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Google Authenticator?

Codes kind of disappear quickly, and there’s no option to refresh them when they’re about to expire, so I have to wait until they expire. Also, if I delete a code by mistake, I can’t undo it, which isn’t really great and has happened to me multiple times. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Google Authenticator?

The time, I do not know if it is something they can fix or modify, but sometimes the clock just run so fast and we have no option to wait for another code and we just hope the system is asking for th new and not the old code, I mean, its confusing, sometimes Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Powerful 3rd Layer of Security for Accounts Logins"
What do you like best about Google Authenticator?

It’s a great way to secure my accounts with three layers of security: my password, an OTP, and a temporary PIN in the form of six numeric characters. GA has helped me a lot in keeping my Google, Yahoo, and website accounts fully secured ever since I started using it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Google Authenticator?

Like WhatsApp and a few other apps, Google Authenticator still doesn’t have its own built-in app lock. It is still using Phone's lock. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Simple, Reliable, and Secure 2FA Solution"
What do you like best about Google Authenticator?

Thing I like best about Google Authenticator is how simple and fast it is to use. There’s no clutter or unnecessary features — it focuses solely on generating time-based one-time passwords (TOTP), which makes it lightweight and very reliable. The app works offline, doesn't require permissions that feel intrusive, and I like that it's from a trusted brand like Google. It also supports multiple accounts, making it easy to manage 2FA for different services in one place. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Google Authenticator?

One of the main drawbacks of Google Authenticator is the lack of cloud backup and multi-device sync for a long time, although that has recently improved. Even so, the process of transferring accounts between devices can still feel clunky or risky, especially for non-technical users. There's also no biometric or PIN protection built into the app itself, which feels like a security gap compared to other authenticator apps. A cleaner interface or some customization options would also enhance the overall user experience. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Effortlessly Secure, But Phone Dependency is a Drawback"
What do you like best about Google Authenticator?

I really like Google Authenticator because it provides security and is easy to use even when voice or SMS doesn't work. It's so handy and powerful for authenticating more and more software. I can add multiple applications, and it keeps my accounts secure. It’s also incredibly helpful; I’ve linked 10 to 15 accounts to it. Whenever I log in to a new device, I can easily use my phone to get the OTP from the authenticator. I find it very secure, and the setup process is really easy since you just scan a code with your phone. I also appreciate that it doesn't require the internet to generate OTPs, which makes it super reliable. Plus, it's completely free, which is amazing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Google Authenticator?

Google Authenticator has only one problem. If my phone is not near me or my phone is broken, then what do I do? I have to log in with another phone, and it's too much. Too much security. Right? It's too much login, hard to log in with Google Authenticator and something else. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Useful for Password Recovery, But Needs Simpler Authentication"
What do you like best about Google Authenticator?

I like using Google Authenticator because when I forget my password, it is the app that helps me get back into my accounts. It is incredibly useful for ensuring I can regain access to vital applications like my Gmail and other apps that require a password, even if I happen to forget them. I find it valuable because it provides an additional layer of security and convenience, allowing me to stay connected to my essential tools seamlessly. Specifically, I appreciate how Google Authenticator sends a code to my phone number when I need to reset my password, making the recovery process straightforward. The initial setup was pretty easy, which I really appreciate, as it doesn't complicate the process of enhancing security across my accounts. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Google Authenticator?

I dislike the requirement for two-factor authentication as it feels a bit cumbersome. I would prefer if there was an option for single-factor authentication to make the process simpler. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
