While Upgrade offers many benefits and may be a good option for some borrowers, it's important to carefully consider the potential drawbacks before deciding to use their services. The initial application process was easy. It almost reminded me of applying for a crypto exchange. After a soft pull on my credit to qualify, the short application required me to upload an identification document, take a selfie, connect a bank account, and upload tax returns. During the application process, I received countless emails "reminding" me that I needed to take more steps to complete the application, although it told me they had everything they needed when I signed in. Finally, they called me and told me they needed me to upload my ID, which I had already done via their app. They had me email it to them this time. I received more emails and calls asking me to verify something or another we had already verified. A rep told me they had everything they needed. After a few days, nothing. I called and was again asked to verify my offer amount and was told I'd get a decision in a few more days, again. This time, I was approved after a day. Fast forward, I decided to make a test transfer to my bank account and a test purchase as a credit card, and both failed. I called a couple more times and was told a couple more times to verify my offer amount. After verifying both times, I was told the account should work now. Only after the second such phone call was it true. I'm all for security and verification, which I understand sometimes involves redundancy. The customer service team is on it! They called me right away and we're ready to help me set up an account. I uploaded the required documents in a few days. They were super chill when I said I was busy too and politely gave me a number to call back. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The app is buggy and doesn't really work. It took me about 15 tries to get the documents they wanted--pretty standard stuff my photo ID--for the rewards checking account. It finally accepted them but every time I log in now it says I need to upload more documents but whenever I go to the screen to do that it shows I've already uploaded them. Two aspects of the software stand out from the competition: First, the program's functionality and second, how easy it is to use. When I compare this software to others I have used in the past; you can do more with this than you can do with most. And for people who are not computer savvy, this software is quite simple. Even though it is pretty simple to use, there was one occasion when I needed help and tried to reach out to customer service/technical support but couldn't. A suggestion for the company would be to offer more support options: telephone, email, and chat support. Offering those three support options would make a better experience for everyone who used it. I really like the UI for the website. It is very intuitive and informative including the tabs on the left side to monitor credit health, score simulator, etc. The score simulator section has different options to check how the score would be affected by doing multiple things like credit balance changes, credit limit changes, etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
