It almost reminded me of applying for a crypto exchange. After a soft pull on my credit to qualify, the short application required me to upload an identification document, take a selfie, connect a bank account, and upload tax returns. Some people don't like that process, but it doesn't bother me. **What do you dislike about Upgrade?** During the application process, I received countless emails "reminding" me that I needed to take more steps to complete the application, although it told me they had everything they needed when I signed in. Finally, they called me and told me they needed me to upload my ID, which I had already done via their app. They had me email it to them this time. I received more emails and calls asking me to verify something or another we had already verified. A rep told me they had everything they needed. After a few days, nothing. I called and was again asked to verify my offer amount and was told I'd get a decision in a few more days, again. This time, I was approved after a day. Fast forward, I decided to make a test transfer to my bank account and a test purchase as a credit card, and both failed. I called a couple more times and was told a couple more times to verify my offer amount. After verifying both times, I was told the account should work now. Only after the second such phone call was it true. I'm all for security and verification, which I understand sometimes involves redundancy. However, I was left in the dark a few times until I called to get things moving again. **What problems is Upgrade solving and how is that benefiting you?** I like their hybrid approach to a "credit card"/"line of credit". It makes it as easy to make purchases as with a standard credit card. It's the same, although the billing method is different (better in my opinion). But if you need actual cash transferred to your bank, there's no cash advance fee. ### 4. They called me right away and we're ready to help me set up an account. I uploaded the required documents in a few days. They were super chill when I said I was busy too and politely gave me a number to call back. **What do you dislike about Upgrade?** The app is buggy and doesn't really work. It took me about 15 tries to get the documents they wanted--pretty standard stuff my photo ID--for the rewards checking account. It finally accepted them but every time I log in now it says I need to upload more documents but whenever I go to the screen to do that it shows I've already uploaded them. So I'm disappointed and wondering what's up. **What problems is Upgrade solving and how is that benefiting you?** I was recommended to Upgrade Rewards Checking through Steady. It seemed cool. Who doesn't want to get cash back and having a new online app bank thing (which I've been a fan of all the way back to Bluebird by Amex) is something I'm always up for. I wasn't too sure "what it was" or what made it different but I was willing to try. ### 5. When I compare this software to others I have used in the past; you can do more with this than you can do with most. And for people who are not computer savvy, this software is quite simple. **What do you dislike about Upgrade?** Even though it is pretty simple to use, there was one occasion when I needed help and tried to reach out to customer service/technical support but couldn't. A suggestion for the company would be to offer more support options: telephone, email, and chat support. Offering those three support options would make a better experience for everyone who used it. **What problems is Upgrade solving and how is that benefiting you?** Upgrade attempts to solve problems that most of us face daily. So this software is not something abstract - it's something that most businesses can find useful. We found the software helpful when we wanted to save money in one particular instance. And it worked. I was impressed and rather surprised. Very happy! ### 6. It is very intuitive and informative including the tabs on the left side to monitor credit health, score simulator, etc. The score simulator section has different options to check how the score would be affected by doing multiple things like credit balance changes, credit limit changes, etc. **What do you dislike about Upgrade?** I am not sure why but the credit alerts section is empty. The credit health insights section is taking me to generic credit health articles but I was expecting it to provide personalized insights. **What problems is Upgrade solving and how is that benefiting you?** It is helping me understand what my credit score is and how it would be impacted by making changes to my credit like applying new credit card, loan, etc. It provides a centralized UI for me to check the revolving balances, credit utilization, etc. ### 8. This line of credit is perfect if you need cash advances or somewhere to charge a large amount with the swipe of a card. It's a line of credit, so if you don't like racking up credit-type debt, then this may not be the solution for you. For everyone else, highly recommend. **What problems is Upgrade solving and how is that benefiting you?** Before I started using Upgrade I had a steady income and around $4,000 in revolving credit that I could use. Upgrade offered me an $11,000 line of credit at 7% less interest than any of the other creditors I had access to at the time. It helped my credit by increasing my amount of available credit in a significant way. ### 11. The online interface is also pretty easy to navigate. **What do you dislike about Upgrade?** The cost of loans tends to be higher compared to some other avenues. They also charge an origination fee, which adds to the cost of borrowing and the cost is towards higher end. **What problems is Upgrade solving and how is that benefiting you?** I feel they are providing personal loans to the people who might find difficulties getting a loan in time of emergency from other providers due to a lack of credit history or low credit score. ### 15.
