# What is the best IT alerting tool for large-scale IT environments?

<p class="elv-tracking-normal elv-text-default elv-font-figtree elv-text-base elv-leading-base elv-font-normal" elv="true">Hey folks </p><p class="elv-tracking-normal elv-text-default elv-font-figtree elv-text-base elv-leading-base elv-font-normal" elv="true">Our ops team supports a pretty big IT environment, and alerting is killing them right now. We’re looking for something that makes alerts smarter, ties into our incident workflows, and helps us actually respond faster instead of just getting buried in noise.</p><p class="elv-tracking-normal elv-text-default elv-font-figtree elv-text-base elv-leading-base elv-font-normal" elv="true">I spent some time digging around G2 category on <a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/categories/it-alerting">IT alerts software</a> and I've shortlisted these tools: </p><ul>
<li>
<a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/products/xmatters/reviews"><strong>xMatters</strong></a>: Built for enterprise-scale ops. Strong integrations with ITSM/security tools, reviewers say it’s reliable at scale.</li>
<li>
<a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/products/dynatrace/reviews"><strong>Dynatrace</strong></a><strong>:</strong> Full observability with AI-driven root cause analysis, helps cut down on alert storms.</li>
<li>
<a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/products/site24x7/reviews"><strong>Site24x7</strong></a><strong>:</strong> Monitoring + alerting bundled together. Affordable but flexible for bigger teams.</li>
<li>
<a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/products/freshservice/reviews"><strong>Freshservice</strong></a><strong>:</strong> ITSM with alerting built in. Best if you want ticketing + incident management in one.</li>
<li>
<a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/products/new-relic/reviews"><strong>New Relic</strong></a><strong>:</strong> Deep observability with alerting baked in. Great analytics, but steeper learning curve.</li>
<li>
<a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/products/pandora-fms/reviews">Pandora FMS</a>: Flexible monitoring platform with customizable alert triggers and automated actions</li>
<li>
<a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/products/pagerduty/reviews"><strong>PagerDuty</strong></a><strong>:</strong> The classic for on-call scheduling and escalations. Still widely used at scale.</li>
<li>
<a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/products/better-stack/reviews"><strong>Better Stack</strong></a><strong>:</strong> Newer but high satisfaction. Clean interface and fast incident visibility.</li>
<li>
<a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/products/checkmk/reviews"><strong>Checkmk</strong></a><strong>:</strong> Customizable monitoring/alerting. Powerful, though requires more setup.</li>
</ul><p class="elv-tracking-normal elv-text-default elv-font-figtree elv-text-base elv-leading-base elv-font-normal" elv="true">For those running large-scale environments, which tool actually gives you the best signal-to-noise ratio and keeps your team sane during incidents? Curious to know what works and what doesn't. </p><p class="elv-tracking-normal elv-text-default elv-font-figtree elv-text-base elv-leading-base elv-font-normal" elv="true">I’m leaning towards something like xMatters or PagerDuty since they’re proven at scale, but tools like Better Stack and Pandora FMS look interesting too. What’s your take, stick with the classics or try one of the newer/flexible options? or how to go about this selection? </p>

&lt;p&gt;Does anyone feel like all these tools are great in theory, but the real issue is just cutting down on alert fatigue? Wondering which one actually solves that long term.&lt;/p&gt;
