What do you like best about Expensify?

What I appreciate most about Expensify is how straightforward and intuitive it makes the process of expense reporting and reimbursement. The automatic receipt scanning, expense categorization, and direct syncing with accounting systems such as QuickBooks or NetSuite save significant time and help minimize manual mistakes.

I also find it very convenient that the mobile app functions smoothly, enabling users to submit or approve expenses while on the move. This feature truly enhances efficiency for both employees and managers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Expensify?

While Expensify is a great tool overall, it can sometimes be a bit complex to set up and customize for specific company policies. The user interface, especially for admin functions, can feel unintuitive at first, and receipt scanning accuracy occasionally requires manual correction.

"QBO Journal Entries Not Supported"
What do you like best about Expensify?

Fairly simple QBO integration. Easy for employees to use and submit expenses. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Expensify?

Integration tradeoffs - If you want to export reports with multiple locations, you need to do so with a journal entry. Ex. Manager travels to different plants. But, expensify does not provide tax support for journal entries. If your expenses have tax rates - and what expenses don't have taxes - then your journal entry reports will fail often. This is not a supported pathway by expensify, not sure why they provide the option.

Customer support - There is no account contact person. You have to use a generic chat service. The system seems designed to frustrate you out of getting help. It took days to start a ticket with them, I had to follow up every week to see if there was any progress, and was told they were working on it. I never got a resolution to the problem. "Great Expense Tracking, but Mobile App Needs Improvement"
What do you like best about Expensify?

It is easier to track expenses and I believe its easy to view and approve the expenses as well. I like the category wise bifurcation. On my laptop, it flows nicely and the legacy version, in my opinion, is more versatile. Payments and reimbursements are better there as you can easily create a report there. What do you dislike about Expensify?

I would prefer it was also segregated date wise and a subtotal was displaced for each date. Mobile app needs improvement. It could be similar to SmartReceipts app where it is much easier to upload and submit the receipts. The UI needs a lot of improvement. The team should focus on the app from the perspective of a new user and right now for a first time user, its a bit confusing. Also, the app reached through the inbox option should be the face of the app when you log in. Also, the SQL sorting that the app uses is not great as it returns false data. What do you like best about Expensify?

Expensify makes expense tracking incredibly easy and efficient. Thanks to its user-friendly interface, I can quickly enter and monitor all my expenses without any hassle. What do you like best about Expensify?

Expensify truly simplifies expense management for both employees and finance teams. At my organization, we rely on it to process reimbursements for travel, meals, and client-related costs. The SmartScan feature is especially convenient—I simply take a photo of a receipt, and the app automatically populates the necessary details. The user interface is intuitive, allowing me to track the approval status of each report with ease. What do you dislike about Expensify?

Occasionally, the SmartScan feature misreads details on some receipts, especially handwritten ones, which means I have to manually correct a few entries. I’ve also noticed slight syncing delays with corporate card transactions from time to time. What do you like best about Expensify?

The receipt scan in the mobile app is very accurate and saves a lot of time. The email scanning is also rather accurate and efficient. I have tried other products and Expensify has nailed the balance between features and simplicity. With as much travel as I do, I use this multiple times a day and save a lot hassle. Especially with airline tickets, hotel reservations, restaurant receipts, it excels in expense classification. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Expensify?

Every now and again, the duplicate expense detection gets overly aggressive. For example, wifi charges on a multiple flights on the same day always get flagged as duplicates but they are not. Categories outside of the top 5 most common for travel (airline, accommodations, uber, lyft, taxi) strike out more often in auto classification. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It's not possible to create a report directly; you have to add each expense individually first. The currency input only accepts values with a dot, such as 100.00, which can be limiting. Regarding your feedback about report creation — you can actually start by creating a report directly, and then add expenses to it afterward. Here’s how:

Go to the Reports tab.

1. Click the + icon, then > New Report to create one.

2. Then add existing expenses or new ones directly to that report.

What do you like best about Expensify?

I really love how easy it is to use Expensify. The interface is super modern and intuitive, making it easy to navigate even without training. I find the drag-and-drop feature for receipts and invoices incredibly useful, as it parses the data accurately, simplifying the expensing process. The automation features, which take care of routing to managers and finance, make the entire reimbursement process effortless. What do you dislike about Expensify?

I would love to see more integrations with Expensify, specifically the ability to sync with accounts that have monthly recurring expenses.
