## Gusto Reviews
 ### 1. Quick, Easy Payroll with Hassle-Free Tax Compliance

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** barb c. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 30, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I use Gusto for payroll and I really enjoy it. What I like most is that it's quick and easy. Running payroll only takes me less than an hour every two weeks. There are reminders on the screen that tell me they are being compliant with the state and local taxes, so I never have to worry about that. It takes care of my taxes, including state, local, and federal, and gives me reminders of things that need to be sent in.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

{"I think the onboarding could be a little less cumbersome.","Less steps.","I have to do some onboarding, then it has to go back to them, and they have to onboard — just the number of steps.","People basically would just want to be paid. They just need to get their banking information in there. But, really, it's not all that convoluted."}

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Gusto for payroll. It takes care of taxes, payroll issues, and reminders for things that need to be sent in for state, local, and federal taxes. Running payroll only takes me less than an hour every two weeks, and the on-screen reminders keep me compliant, so I never have to worry.

 ### 2. Simplifies Payroll, But Reports Are Hard to Find

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Natali B. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 30, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I like how Gusto makes doing something that you would think is hard very simple, simplified, and user friendly. Even the website layout is super easy to navigate. Running payroll is something that stood out for me, just putting in the numbers, the hourly rates, and the hours clocked in is super helpful, and it's super easy with tracking in Gusto. The initial setup was very simple too.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

{"I would say navigating the menus is kind of hard. It's a lot of, like, dropdowns that you have to press, and sometimes I don't know what to press.","I don't know what to press. I feel like if there was just a simple way for me to find reports or specific items it would help.","Every month when we close off the month I need to know payroll for the employees. Sometimes I don't know where to find those reports, or I have found them but I don't know if I'm finding the accurate ones for what I'm looking for."}

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Gusto for payroll. It makes something you'd think is hard very simple and user friendly, and the website is super easy to navigate. Running the numbers, hourly rates, and hours clocked in is super helpful and easy to track.

 ### 3. Chat and FAQ Features That Make Getting Answers Effortless

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Elizabeth W. | Director of Operations, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 25, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

The chat and FAQ features have been a lifesaver. Anytime I can’t figure something out, the answer is right there at my fingertips. They’ve been a huge support for me as I started navigating this new system after leaving a company after 21 years.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I don’t always receive notifications in my email; however, I’ve worked around this by logging into my dashboard each day to check which tasks might need to be completed.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It’s very user-friendly and makes it easy to organize the items that need to be completed. The system also helps me catch missing items that I might have overlooked on my own, which is reassuring and gives me extra peace of mind.

 ### 4. A Perfect Fit for Small Business HR Needs

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** George D. | Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 10, 2025

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I have been using Gusto for about three years across different employers, and I've grown to appreciate its comprehensive integration capabilities. Gusto seamlessly consolidates various crucial functions like benefits, expenses, and HR information, all in one place. This integration significantly reduces the time we would otherwise spend searching through disparate systems or managing multiple PDFs and links for our vendors. This centralization has proven invaluable, especially since our organization lacks dedicated HR systems. Additionally, I've been impressed with the simplicity of Gusto's setup process; my entire company was able to become operational within a month, which speaks volumes about the user-friendliness of the platform. On a personal note, I also appreciate how Gusto aligns with our small business needs, allowing us to manage everything efficiently without the need for complex systems. This efficiency is further highlighted by my willingness to score it a 9 out of 10 in terms of recommending it to colleagues or friends.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

The people management features in Gusto could be improved, particularly in the areas of goal setting and calendar integration. This is important because my management prefers using Google Suite, and improving these aspects in Gusto could help keep users on the platform, especially for tasks like meeting setting.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Gusto to centralize my HR needs, streamlining everything from benefits to expenses, so I don't waste time tracking multiple systems, enhancing organizational efficiency.

 ### 5. Effortless Access to Pay and Tax Documents

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kacey M. | Account Executive / Business Development, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 30, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I use Gusto for payroll services, and as the end user it makes it easy to get paid. I like that it's easy to use, and there's an app version so I can access it on my computer or on the go. It tells me when I'm going to get paid, and all the info is easy to find. I use it to access tax documents or paystubs, which are all easily accessible in there, and I check in on when I'll be getting paid on a monthly basis. I've really never run into any issues — I think it's very well put together. The initial setup was very easy.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

We've probably been using it for about a year or so now and i've never had any issues

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As the end user, Gusto makes it easy to get paid. I use it to access tax documents and paystubs, which are all easily accessible in there, and to check when I'll be getting paid, which I do on a monthly basis.

 ### 6. Solved Multi-State Compliance, Fast USDC Payouts

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kasamani J. | Human Resource Assistant Tier 2, Internet, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 30, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

What I like most about Gusto is the USDC stablecoin payment option for international contractors that launched in March 2026. That's the feature that made the biggest difference for one specific part of our team. Same-day international contractor payment is available via Wise account and USDC stablecoin, replacing the prior three to five business day transfer window. Two of our contractors are based in countries where bank transfers took several days, and conversion fees were eating into what they received. After switching to the stablecoin option, those payments arrive the same day at the agreed amount, without conversion fees taking effect. Both contractors specifically mentioned the change in our next check-in, and the improvement to the working relationship from something as basic as faster, more predictable payment was genuinely noticeable. It has become our preferred payment method because it gets the contractor payment done fast and easily within a day. Around ten contractors now receive payment via the USDC option, and seven of them accept it as the default payment method. It also simplified bookkeeping. Gusto handles the calculation and filing automatically, which solved the state registration chaos we had before. When someone joined from a state we hadn't hired in before, the list of things to do before their first payroll, unemployment insurance registration, workers' compensation requirements, new hire reporting to the state, and tax account setup, was longer than anyone on a small team could figure out correctly. The platform can be implemented in less than a week, and the interactive demo lets you test the software before signing up without requiring long-term contracts. That matched our experience exactly, being able to run through the demo before committing meant there were no surprises during the actual setup. The only thing that took some time was getting our bank account verified before the first payroll run, which needed a few extra days. I also integrate it with Asana and BambooHR.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

{"The MOSI acquisition addresses that problem in principle, but the integrated business compliance product has not fully launched yet as of mid 2026.","Running on a timeline where the most anticipated features are still incoming means we are paying for something we cannot fully use yet.","I want a clearer product road map with committed launch dates rather than a general timeline so customers can plan around what is available now versus what is coming.","Getting our bank account verified before the first payroll run required a few extra days. I needed to start verification earlier."}

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto solved the state registration chaos we had when hiring across new states, handling unemployment insurance, new hire reporting, and tax setup with automatic calculations and filings. The USDC stablecoin option pays our international contractors same-day at the agreed amount without conversion fees, and it simplified bookkeeping.

 ### 7. Unified Payroll for Hybrid Teams, Limited Weekend Support

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Suhaila A. | SNN, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 30, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

What I like most is the tax accuracy commitment. If they make an error that causes a tax penalty, they cover the cost. That commitment matters more than it sounds because it shifts the financial risk of filing mistakes away from our business and onto their platform. We haven't had a penalty since switching, and knowing that backstop exists has changed how much time our team spends double checking tax filings. Before Gusto, our operation lead would manually review state filings every quarter out of anxiety, and she stopped doing that within six months of switching because the platform had proven itself reliable enough that the audit step felt unnecessary. The integration set is also what really stood out. With the 150 plus third party connections, payroll data flows cleanly into our accounting, time tracking, and expense tools without anyone manually moving files between systems. The QuickBooks synchronization changed reconciling payroll with accounting entirely, payroll entries flow directly into the right accounts automatically after every run, and our bookkeeper confirmed the month end close process dropped by roughly two hours once the integration was configured. It's not a dramatic number, but across a full year it adds up, and it removed a manual step that was occasionally introducing errors. I also like having all three worker types, salaried staff, hourly employees, and rotating contractors, handled in the same place with the same login instead of managing separate systems for each category. For setup, most businesses complete payroll review and submission in under five minutes once configured, and the digital onboarding lets new hires complete their own I-9, W-4, direct deposit setup, and company documents through a personalized invitation link. Our first payroll run took under a week, and contractor onboarding was even faster. We connect it with QuickBooks and Asana.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

{"A contractor payment failed to process correctly before a project date.","We did not get a resolution the same day.","Support hours are Monday to Friday, 8AM to PM eastern time only.","That means anything that goes wrong on Friday afternoon sits unresolved over the weekend until Monday.","The one-step flow flagging is the account verification which needs to happen before the first run can process, and that verification window can delay the first payroll run."}

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Gusto to run payroll and benefits for hybrid teams, salaried, hourly, and contractors, all in one place. The QuickBooks sync flows payroll entries into the right accounts automatically, cutting our month-end close by roughly two hours and removing manual steps that introduced errors.

 ### 8. Decent for Payroll, Frustrating Account Features

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Adele T. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 15, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I like that I can use it to clock in and out from work, and I can see how much my pay stubs were. Probably the best thing is I can optimize my paychecks and decide how much they're taking in taxes from each check. It does my payroll process, and the initial setup was easy.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I don't like Gusto. Clocky giving out. I was using the spending account, but I hate the spending account. The spending account *****. The fact that, like, I can't enter my bank account information and then view it to make sure it's correct, *****. It just does my payroll process thing. That's the only thing that it solves for me. I'm not. Two.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It just does my payroll process, that's the only thing it solves for me. I like that I can clock in and out from work and see my pay stubs. Probably the best thing is I can optimize my paychecks and decide how much they take in taxes from each check.

 ### 9. Absolutely Best Payroll Software and Company Available!!!!!!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Donna D. | General Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 02, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

Ease of use the top thing I like best but a close second is Gusto customer service and support. Payroll taxes especially are not my forte and I have all the trust in the world that Gusto will do them correctly and on time. They are ALWAYS very professional, fast and knowledgeable. I have said many times, Gusto is my favorite company and software to deal with.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I would say the only downside is the slightly higher price but the service rendered is completely worth it.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

They tell me exactly what I need to do payroll correctly and even walk me through any tasks I may not be familiar with how to complete. If I have further questions, their support is very very helpful and fast.

 ### 10. Great tax compliance features for multi state businesses

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Adi E. | Talent acquisition partner, Construction, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 29, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

The federal and state tax calculation engine that is automated calculates employee deductions with absolute precision. After entering hourly tracking logs from the built-in time clocks, payroll runs are completed in seconds. Self service onboarding portal gives new employees the ability to upload tax documents on their own prior to their official start date.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

When the contractor payment processing module is used, the direct deposit to the contractor is significantly delayed from the normal full time employee payment process. Having to allocate payroll into several regional tax jurisdictions needlessly puts the strain on customer care agents. The general ledger export feature is not very helpful in reporting arrays to external enterprise accounting software platforms.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We used to have to manually go through all the hours every month for our distributed workforce management team to make the multi state unemployment tax contributions. This platform can deal with local compliance legislations immediately at every biweekly payment interval. We eliminated costs of accounting overhead and also stayed clear of fines from regional authorities for not abiding by the rules.

 ### 11. Gusto Makes Payroll Tasks Fast and Easy Across Devices

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michelle C. | Resource Coordinator, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 02, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I love that both of my employers use Gusto. It lets me manage all of my payroll tasks in one app that’s very easy to use. I can enter my hours quickly, and Gusto also reminds me how much time I have left to make any changes.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I don’t really have a downside to mention. Gusto is very easy to log in and out of on different devices, which makes this task simple and hassle-free.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Recently, my employer didn’t pay me the correct amount. I was able to go into the Expenses section of the app and enter the correct amount, and we were able to rectify the problem very easily.

 ### 12. Intuitive Payroll & Org View — See Paychecks, Arrival Estimates, and Benefits

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 29, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I really like how easy it is to navigate all the features.
- You can see your paychecks.
- You can see an estimate of when your paycheck will arrive.
- You can see all the people who work in your company and how they are related to you.
- You can track all these metrics around benefits and stuff like that.
It's really good to use.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

There's not much I don't like. The UI seems a little bit off at times, and for some of the links you have to click a lot of links to get to the page you want. I feel like some of that could be streamlined, but other than that it's pretty great.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto's really solving paycheck information, benefit information, time off information, all of that general HR stuff. It's a central place, and it's easy to navigate and find your information, so that's very helpful.

 ### 13. All-in-One Payroll with Easy Setup

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Hannah M. | Junior Office Administrator, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 17, 2025

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

Gusto is a comprehensive platform that's great for onboarding and offboarding. I like that it keeps track of and handles all the benefits, taxes, and other mundane tasks, and it has everything in one location. It also has the ability to time track. What I like most is that it handles payments for benefits and other things like that, automating the process. We use QuickBooks integrated with Gusto, which basically creates journal entries that the salary expenses can be matched to, keeping our books straight. The initial setup was easy.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

{"I find the timesheet entry for salaried employees is not the best because it can't be as granular as other platforms have it.","I want more granularity like fractional hours, project-level tracking, rounding rules, and approval workflows—especially fractional hours."}

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto is great for onboarding and offboarding, and keeps track of benefits, taxes, and other mundane tasks all in one location. I like that it automates payments for benefits. It also has time tracking, and the QuickBooks integration creates journal entries so I can match salary expenses and keep our books straight.

 ### 14. User-Friendly with Precise Pay Tracking

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kalli C. | Barista, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 09, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I use Gusto to track my hours for my internship, and it helps calculate my pay and track my time effectively. I love that it tells me how many hours I have worked in the day and overall for the week. I like how user-friendly it is, and it does a great job tracking how much I should get in my paycheck. The initial setup was so easy and user-friendly.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I think that sometimes when I click off the notes section of the logging hours text box, it clears everything out. This can be very frustrating and unreliable.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Gusto to track my hours for my internship. It calculates my pay, helps track my time, and tells me how many hours I've worked daily and weekly. I like how user-friendly it is and that it tracks how much I should get in my paycheck.

 ### 15. User-Friendly with Easy Reporting, Minor Admin Hurdles

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andrea F. | Director of Finance, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 24, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I have been new to using Gusto and the setup so far is very user-friendly and easy for the admin and end user. We are using it for subcontractor payments and I find the onboard process very inclusive. I really like that it's user-friendly. Managing reporting is very easy, and I appreciate the ability to print reports at any time.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

It would be good to have the ability to upload a signature for the check printing.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I find Gusto user-friendly for admin and users, making subcontractor payments and onboarding inclusive. Reporting is easy to manage, and I can print reports anytime.

 ### 16. Simple, No-Frills Interface—But Account Setup Can Be Clunky

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vic B. | IT Administrator II, Medical Devices, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 28, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

It’s simple, easy to use, and doesn’t have too much visual fluff. The navigation bar is straightforward, with tabs that clearly describe what they are. I also haven’t run into any issues while using the system. The pricing was just right for our budget and sizing of the company with all the integrations/access needed.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

Initially when setting up my account it was very clunky and I had a hard time setting it up. I cant fully blame the system but it also had to do with hour company having this system before.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It’s solving a very simple problem for us: we’re downsizing and tightening our budget. This platform fits well with our current needs, and it was easy for the People team to get up to speed quickly.

 ### 17. User-Friendly and Efficient, but Calculator Needs Improvement

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** gina c. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 22, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I use Gusto for clocking in and monitoring staff, and it makes these tasks extremely easy. I love how fast it loads up and its user-friendly interface. I'm also able to edit any mistakes I may have made anytime in the past, which is really helpful. The initial setup was extremely easy for me, and although some older staff had minor issues, I was able to help them, showing that Gusto is very user-friendly.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

Sometimes the paycheck calculator doesn't work at all and won't tell me how much I'm being paid until I actually receive the money in my bank.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto makes clocking in and out and editing extremely easy. It's fast and user-friendly, allowing me to edit past mistakes. However, sometimes the paycheck calculator doesn't work, and I can't see my pay until it's in my bank.

 ### 18. User-Friendly Access to All You Need in One Place

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Marina L. | Foundations Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 27, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

It’s very user-friendly, and everything is easy to find whenever I need it—medical information, W-2s, and similar documents.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

It would be nice to have an easy way to find tutorials that explain how to use the app’s various features.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It keeps all the information I need as an employee in one place. I can check the forms I need to fill out, review anything I’ve completed in the past, look up my past paychecks, and manage time off—all in one place instead of having to use multiple software tools (as I have had to do in past positions)

 ### 19. Frustrating Payment System with Poor Support

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Márcio P. | Head of Data & Analytics, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 30, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I like nothing about Gusto

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

Gusto fails to deliver on its core promise of simplifying payments for international contractors like me. The onboarding process is terrible; despite submitting numerous documents suggesting everything should be ready, they withhold payments and create endless tasks to deliver additional information. This process locks me in a loop without receiving my money, making life harder instead of easier. Their customer support is also awful; they provide no real help and just lie about payments being processed while presenting useless internal documents as receipts. Even though the initial setup seemed easy, it turns out useless when the system doesn’t function as expected.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto supposedly simplifies international payments, allowing me to get paid in Brazil for work with an American company, but they withhold payments while demanding repetitive and unnecessary tasks.

 ### 20. Friendly, Affordable Payroll for Small Businesses with Helpful Integrations

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Manufacturing | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 12, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

Gusto is very easy to use and makes running payroll and the other administrative details of my small business less intimidating. It's affordable for my size of business (me, one employee and one contractor) and will continue to be affordable as we grow. I like that I'll be able to add other benefits (like healthcare) in the future as we grow.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

Some of the workflows are not intuitive, like if I go to run Payroll it says one of my employee's timesheet says "zero," when it should really say something not "0, not approved yet — approve before running payroll?"
Other than some small quirks like this it's a great tool. I also love that it integrates with Quickbooks, though I find it frustrating that some of the fields do not map / use the same language across platforms. Onboarding was simple, took a few hours and we have had no issues since setup.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto saves me time and gives me confidence that I'm doing the things I need to do as a small business owner who is definitely NOT an HR professional. It has given me the confidence to bring on my first W2 employee which was a huge threshold we needed to cross before I could continue to grow my business. I'm also really excited that I'll be able to offer things like PTO, 401k contributions, and other benefits to my team in one place so I worry less about making mistakes with manual tracking.

 ### 21. Streamlined, Professional, and User-Friendly Payroll with Gusto

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kimberly B. | Nurse Practitioner, Hospital & Health Care, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 20, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

Gusto is streamlined, clean, professional while still being very user friendly. It lends itself well to payroll for any professional field and is easy to use in both on-site and at-home environments for day-to-day operations. It maintains this ease of use in reviewing past documents, data, and addressing help concerns as well.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

Onboarding can sometimes be difficult as the setup prompts the user to create a business if not accessed directly from an email sent by the managing user. Use across multiple emails can also lead to mix-ups, although navigating between Gusto for multiple jobs is easy enough.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Making payroll easier.

 ### 22. All-in-One HR, Payroll, and Benefits Made Easy with Gusto

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jessica T. | Director of Human Resources, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 22, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

It is helpful to have Human Resources, Payroll, Employee Profiles, and Benefits Management all through one platform in Gusto.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

Gusto changes the way you input payroll numbers relatively often, about twice a year, and often times it slows down the system, takes time to readjust to, and creates bugs that need to be worked out.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Gusto primarily for employee profiles, benefits management, human resources help, and payroll. We use the concierge service and Gusto oftentimes answers my questions the same day that I message them, making things a lot easier for me when I need an answer quickly.

 ### 23. Affordable, Feature-Rich Payroll That Scales with Your Business

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nyla I. | Owner/Operator, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 09, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

What I like most about Gusto is that it’s affordable and includes extra features in its plans that you don’t get with other payroll software. I also appreciate that Gusto can grow with your business, so you don’t have to switch providers as you expand.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I think the scheduling and timesheet features still have a lot of room for improvement, especially the Projects feature. I’ve had clients switch systems because they needed more robust time reporting (for example, to meet prevailing wage requirements) and a way to post open shifts.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto is definitely curving the market when it comes to integrations, automated taxes, the best customer support I've experienced with payroll software, and makes benefits administration very easy for growing companies.

 ### 24. User-Friendly and Smooth Performance - Great for small to mid sized companies

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 26, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

User-friendly for both admins and end users. It makes single sign-on with Microsoft accounts easy to set up and includes everything a small to mid-size company needs. The initial setup is straightforward, and it’s just as simple to manage ongoing changes. Their support is great and quick to respond.

It also makes it easy to view the org hierarchy, so managing departments and employees stays simple. The automated surveys feature is a big plus, and I haven’t noticed any lag or slowdown. I also haven’t experienced any service interruptions.

Overall, it feels very affordable compared with other known names out there. I haven’t used the AI yet, but I’ve heard good things about its AI intelligence and automation, including Gus or other Natural langage AI assistants.

It needs more features for complicated workflows or integrations.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

It needs more features to support complicated workflows and integrations. It would be great to have a native API or built-in integration tools. Also, it’s not as strong as other systems when it comes to customization for high-end, large companies.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

easy use, easy to navigate, easy to create and onboard empoyees.

 ### 25. Gusto is the BEST.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jen A. | Founder and CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 15, 2024

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

Gusto has made payroll super easy for our small organization. We have payroll on auto-pay, and it's wonderful to never have to worry about it. It is accurate and runs on time every pay period. It's also made paying contractors and sending them 1099s very easy. We are big fans!

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

No complaints. As we grow, we plan to also add the benefits and paid time off tracking features.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We never have to think about whether payroll will run on time or be accurate. With Gusto, it's always on time and accurate. It's also so easy to pay contractors and to issue them their 1099s at the end of the year.

**Official Response from Samantha Castro:**

> Hi, Jen. Thank you for sharing your positive experience with Gusto! We're glad to hear that our payroll and contractor payment features have been so beneficial for your organization. We're excited to support you as you expand and add new features.

It has a very easy process with a very user friendly app to incorporate gusto into my daily routine. It has a very easy process with a very user friendly app to incorporate gusto into my daily routine.

The the only way to get the early direct deposit is to use the gusto spending account and the fee to transfer to an external bank is high.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Time tracking

 ### 27. Easy to Use, Fast Friendly Support—A Payroll Lifesaver for Small Business

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Paula N. | Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 08, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

It is easy to use and customer service is fast and friendly! I am a small business and it's really eased up my payroll system. I used to pay a small accounting firm and they were always making mistakes and it was out of my control.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I am a very small business and it feels expensive.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My problem was having control over my payroll in the past. Now I have control of my payroll! I love not having to collect information from my employees. They enter it all on their own time! I also love the tax forms. They are easy for me as an owner and puts the responsibility on the employee to sign in and get their own documents.

 ### 28. User-Friendly Payroll Solution with Excellent Support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Carole C. | Owner, Executive Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 06, 2025

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I really like that Gusto is very simple to use and user-friendly. It's convenient that they have an app my employees can use to check their pay stubs and W-2s. The user-friendly nature helps us get through payroll quickly and enables us to utilize more of the features. Additionally, Gusto has an HR feature that I sometimes use for updating my employee handbook. It's great that they handle all of my tax payments both quarterly for state and federal, so I don't have to figure out the tax payments on my own. The initial setup was very easy, and the customer service was very valuable. They can provide support quickly, including live customer representatives. I also value their simplicity and great customer service, and I've referred Gusto to several colleagues who enjoy using it. I've already recommended Gusto to several friends and colleagues, and I would rate it a 10 out of 10.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

There is nothing to dislike.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Gusto for paying contractors and employees. It simplifies tax payments, handling state and federal taxes quarterly. It's user-friendly, speeding up payroll processing. The app lets employees check pay stubs and W-2s easily. The HR feature helps update my employee handbook.

 ### 29. Essential for Small Business Efficiency

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sydney M. | Promotions Intern, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 25, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I use Gusto to view checks, look at PTO accrued, and clock my hours. It's nice to keep everything housed in one spot. With a very small company of 13 people, it was challenging not having a way to submit PTO requests. Now, everything is laid out nicely and simply. I like the ability to review hours before the end of the pay period if there are any issues with time tracking. The interface is simple and easy to navigate, keeping everything in one spot, so I always know where to go. During tax season, things will be very simple. I also like the employee contact sheet because I often don't have quick access to everyone's numbers, and this is a great way to have that info on hand. The initial setup was very easy; our brand new office manager could set it up swiftly without issues. Shifting from old-school methods to Gusto is a big upgrade, moving away from printed checks.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I think a quick tutorial when making an account would be helpful just to walk through all the different ways you can use the app/site.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto lets me view checks, track PTO, and clock hours easily in one spot. It improves PTO management, simplifies time tracking, and provides quick access to colleagues' contact info.

 ### 30. Reliable Payroll with Room for Improvement

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kellie B. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 25, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I really like Gusto's payroll services because they are super easy to use and really quick compared to other sites we've used. It's great that it allows a quick turnaround, so if there are any issues or if we need to run payroll later, we have up until the night before to submit, unlike others where you have to do it two to three days in advance. It's also easy to go back and correct any mistakes in payroll. We used Gusto before and switched back because it's been reliable and offers good value for money.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

The document section in Gusto could be improved. While it's great for storing important employee files, I wish we could upload documents that aren't shared with staff but might be needed for future use, like a leave of absence template. It would be convenient to have it on Gusto, ready and filled with necessary text boxes, so I don't have to upload it each time I need to send it to someone.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto provides a reliable HRIS system and excels in payroll, making it quick and easy to use. It allows last-minute payroll changes and easy error corrections. Document management for employee files is beneficial, though uploading non-shared documents could be improved.

 ### 31. Intuitive, Reliable Payroll with Excellent Support and Great Value

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bekah B. | Marketing Consultant & UI Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 10, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

The interface of Gusto is very intuitive. I appreciate that there are notifications that remind me to do payroll, submit forms, and call out when I might be eligible for a tax credit due to my specific circumstances. I hae been incredibly pleased by how much Gusto handles for me, putting me at ease when it was time to do my taxes. I appreciate and have valued the Guideline integration as well as I am a solo entrepreneur and hadn't the first idea where to go to start a 401K. I have tried Wave, and Quicken and Gusto is hands down the easiest to use and the most reliable. I did have one one issue where my state tax did not get submitted on time. I received a notice in the mail with a fee. I easily found how to submit a report to customer services who promptly shared that they had fixed the issue and would be issuing me a credit for the small late fee I had incurred. The Customer service is excellent! When comparing pricing for the services provided, Gusto is the utmost overall value for what you get, and I'm 100% satisfied after 6 months of use.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I absolutely love the invoicing feature, but I would appreciate more of an ability to add in notes or comments for each line item I add. I provide a variety of service and would love to be able to overview what projects the task covered.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's solving tax payment submissions, running payroll, helping me contribute to my 401K, and helping me create a user-friendly, seamless invoicing system for my clients.

 ### 32. Time-clock is fine, but AI integration is unprofessional, unnecessary, and inaccurate

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Electrical/Electronic Manufacturing | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 25, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

The timeclock is easy to use. The information is clear and understandable, and pay periods are clearly defined.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I greatly dislike all instances of AI integration, and wish that it would be removed completely. I also dislike the integration of predatory "payday loan" companies and personable-sounding emails. Most people interact with their payroll in a way that is strictly professional, and I feel like straying too far from this is leaving your company at risk of seeming too unorganized and unprofessional. Especially the fact that AI is integrated into the review process--I am certain that customers will input feedback which is misconstrued or re-written improperly by the AI, and those reviews will thus be inaccurate and untrustworthy.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto works well to manage my timeclock. I appreciate that I can see an estimate of my upcoming pay period and view schedules. Onboarding was easy. Pricing and performance seem to be on-track with other options.

 ### 33. Effortlessly Tracks Time, User-Friendly Access

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Accounting | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 04, 2025

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I love using Gusto for keeping track of my time because it simplifies my daily tasks by allowing me to clock in and out with ease. The feature to log in on my phone and the option to clock in enhances my user experience significantly. I find it very easy to access, which is crucial for managing my work hours conveniently. The ability to view my check stubs also adds to the overall usefulness of Gusto, providing me with a comprehensive overview of my earnings. Despite needing some time to initially get used to the interface, the daily use has made it intuitive and easy to handle. Overall, Gusto is working out great for me, without any notable issues so far.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

Nothing at the moment. Everything is working out great for me

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I find Gusto keeps track of my time effortlessly, allowing me to clock in and out with ease, and quickly view my check stubs, particularly appreciating the accessibility on my phone.

 ### 34. Saves me so much time and mental energy!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Health, Wellness and Fitness | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 25, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I love how it walked me through the hiring process- I knew exactly what forms and information I needed my new employees to complete, how, and when. That was such a relief for me because it was all laid out for me and gave me confidence I had all the right legal pieces in place.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I keep getting automated emails saying certain things need to be updated, even though they already are. I just haven't taken the time to reach out to customer support to find out how to stop these notifications. I wish there was just a button to say "Yes, I already completed this, stop notifying me" :)

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I literally don't have to think about payroll!!! That saves me SO MUCH TIME, energy, and potential anxiety about "is everything submitted properly"- I just follow the directions laid out in Gusto & enter my employee's hours. I'm grateful for how simple it is.

 ### 35. Streamlined UI and Easy Access to Performance Metrics

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Robert S. | Technician, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 06, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

The UI feels very streamlined, and the menus are smooth to navigate. While I haven’t been able to interact with any AI portions of the tool yet, the performance metrics are easy to access and review. Onboarding paperwork was kept in easy-to-find places, and I was able to download tax documents without any issues.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

The app is missing an easily accessible menu. Personally, I’d prefer the time off section to be available as a button in the app, the same way it is on the web, because that would make the overall employee experience better.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto is helpful because it keeps everything in one place, whereas our previous system handled payroll and documentation in separate applications. Having it all together makes the process much more streamlined, especially compared with other payroll and time-tracking software I’ve interacted with.

 ### 36. Convenient Mobile Access, Fast Support, and a User-Friendly Experience

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** IDG E. | Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 14, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I love how convenient it is to run on my mobile device whenever I don't have my laptop handy. Customer service is also great and respond within a very timely manner whenever I need help. The entire website is extremely user friendly and it didn't take me long to understand how to do things.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

Some of the reporting features could use some updates. I remember having a hard time trying to find a specific report for my tax paperwork but eventually found something that would suffice.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I like how Gusto offers different packages and add-on's to help me when it's the right time (i.e time tracking, scheduling, expenses, adding my accountant access, etc.). I love how it's something I don't have to add all at once but whenever I'm ready to do so.

 ### 37. Gusto Makes Payroll, Tax Filings, and Onboarding Effortlessly Efficient. GUSTO is my PARTNER!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** James F. | behavioral health technician, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 24, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

What I like best about Gusto is how much time it saves. Payroll, tax filings, and employee onboarding are all streamlined into one easy-to-use platform, which eliminates a lot of administrative stress. The interface is clean and intuitive, so I can quickly find what I need without digging through complicated menus. I also appreciate that many processes are automated, helping reduce mistakes and giving me confidence that payroll is being handled correctly. Overall, it makes running payroll feel much less like a chore and more like a simple task that gets done efficiently.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

What I dislike most about Gusto is that some of the more advanced features are only available through higher-tier plans or add-ons, which can increase costs as your business grows. While customer support is generally helpful, there have been times when getting a detailed answer took longer than I expected. I also wish there were a few more customization options for businesses with unique payroll or reporting needs. None of these issues are deal-breakers, but they're areas where the platform could improve.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto helps solve several common business challenges, including payroll processing, tax compliance, employee onboarding, and recordkeeping. Before using a payroll platform, these tasks can take hours and increase the risk of costly mistakes. By automating payroll calculations, tax filings, and employee documentation, Gusto reduces administrative workload and helps ensure employees are paid accurately and on time. The biggest benefit for me is the time savings and peace of mind. Instead of spending valuable hours managing payroll and compliance tasks manually, I can focus more on growing the business, supporting employees, and handling day-to-day operations with confidence that payroll is being handled correctly.

 ### 38. Easy Setup and User-Friendly Navigation

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vanessa M. | Practice Administrator, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 28, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I really liked how easy it was to set everything up and how user-friendly it was to learn and navigate. It felt very straightforward from the start.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

The main thing I disliked is that benefit deductions don’t have an option to set them as post-tax. The system automatically assumes they’re pre-tax, and you need to have several things in place for pre-tax deductions to work properly.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Running payroll is much faster than the manual process we had in place before. Employees also love that they can view their pay stubs and PTO without having to ask.

 ### 39. Solid Payroll with Room for Analytical Improvement

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Eishah I. | Business Analyst Tier ll, Internet, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 24, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I really like Gusto's QuickBooks integration, as it allows parent entries to flow directly into our accounting system without manual input, removing steps where errors often crept in before. This integration has made a significant difference analytically, as the finance team can reconcile from accurate numbers rather than catching discrepancies at month-end. I also appreciate the MOSI acquisition for state compliance monitoring, offering proactive alerts when new state obligations arise from employee relocations instead of discovering them at year-end. This provides valuable compliance intelligence that genuinely helps the business, going beyond just automating manual tasks.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

What I think needs to be improved with Gusto is the reporting. It's where Gusto consistently falls short for those with analytical needs. Building a report to answer specific business questions almost always means exporting raw data and finishing the analysis in Excel. The field selection is limited, filtering logic is basic, and there is no way to build a custom report that combines payroll history, headcount changes, and benefit cost in a single view without putting it together manually outside the platform.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto solves payroll accuracy and tax compliance issues, making data reliable for labor cost modeling. It automates tax filing and integrates with QuickBooks, reducing errors. However, reporting tools lack flexibility, requiring manual data finishing.

 ### 40. Intuitive UI and Helpful Benefits Options—Easy to Find What You Need

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ian P. | Project Manager/Instructional Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 09, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

The user interface is very intuitive and does not overcomplicate navigation functions or information layouts. Even without any formal training, I was easily able to locate any information I needed without having to search through multiple links. I also appreciate the additional suggested options available to users under the Benefits section, such as third-party insurances offered at a discount that can be taken directly out of my check, and I actually took advantage of the pet insurance through the Lemonade offer for my dog Arlo!

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

My only dislikes about Gusto relate to the Pay features and tracking. It would be nice if the "Track paycheck status" and "View upcoming checks" features actually displayed future pay information instead of just looping back to each other on the same two pages. Not sure if this is an isolated flaw due to the way my company's Gusto profile is set up, but this would be a great feature I would use regularly if it worked. Also, I once again don't know if this is just a "my company" thing or all of Gusto, but it would be nice if paychecks were distributed at the start of the determined pay day (9AM) instead of at the close of day (5PM).

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a small business of <5, Gusto has been integral in our time and pay tracking, as this was previously being recorded manually in spreadsheets on a daily and bi-weekly basis. No with the clock function, lunch break and time off tracking, and integrated payroll (previously we had to outsource these numbers to ADP), we don't have to spend any time or resources on tracking these numbers and have higher confidence in their accuracy.

 ### 41. Efficient Payroll with Room for UI Improvement

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Harvey . | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 24, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I use Gusto for all my payroll, small payroll taxes, compliance, and other company HR organization. It makes things simpler and handles the process well and efficiently. I think I can scale with Gusto quite well. The payroll and employee taxes are without a doubt the best thing, and I appreciate not having to spend a large amount of money on a CPA.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I think the dashboard UI could really do with improvement. Also, as a business owner, I want the opportunity to have a 'test' profile of what my employees see on their end. When I'm onboarding, I actually don't have a clue what their dash looks like and how to help them navigate Gusto from an employee point of view.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Gusto for payroll, small payroll taxes, compliance, and HR. It simplifies processes and handles them efficiently. It also means I don't need to spend on a CPA.

 ### 42. Empowers Financial Freedom with Intuitive Features

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Quintina T. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 24, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I use Gusto for clocking in and out, requesting days off, viewing my time, borrowing money, and direct deposit. I appreciate the 'rainy day fund' and 'borrow money' features, which help me with financial freedom by allowing me to put money to the side and borrow money when needed. The initial setup was really easy and didn't take long. I also like that Gusto offers more features compared to Homebase, which was the product we used before.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I don't like the way it calculates how much you can borrow. I feel like I have up to $800 I can borrow, but sometimes it doesn't allow me to borrow the whole $800, so I hope they improve that feature.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Gusto to clock in and out, request days, view my time, borrow money, and set up direct deposits. It helps me with financial freedom by allowing me to borrow money when needed and easily save with the rainy day fund.

 ### 43. Efficient Payroll with User-Friendly Features

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vijay M. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 24, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I probably like every feature of Gusto. The time tracking and the geofencing options are what really stand out for our clients. The employees can input their times according to various tasks they do, and they just have to time in and time out by selecting their task in the drop-down feature. All of those entries are only made when they are in the location fixed by the geofencing option, which works good. The setup process was really good because the onboarding team from Gusto was very helpful. Our accountant was also connected with them, so everything went smoothly. The payroll team made sure the first payroll was run properly. So the onboarding process was really good, and the assistance was top notch.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I think probably the geofencing option does not work offline. I would really love that the sensing option is turned on when it works offline so that whenever the employees are online back again, the time could be entered accordingly. Because a lot of times, we have sites in the mountains where there isn't any Internet service. So then it becomes a hassle for us to use the geofencing option. There are also two features that I want to be improved. One is if I am reimbursing an employee on their own health insurance plan.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Gusto to process payroll for my clients easily and quickly with just a click, allowing accurate time tracking with geofencing and task selection.

 ### 44. Seamless, Easy Time Tracking with Helpful Reminders

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ariella C. | Clinical Mental Health Counselor LPC, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 29, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

The app is so seamless and easy to use. I love that I get a reminder to add my hours and can easily hop on the app.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

Honestly, there isn’t anything that really stands out as a dislike for me. Gusto is great, and I’ve had a very positive experience overall.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

One problem it solves for me is that I often forget to log my hours; Gusto reminds me to do it and makes the process simple. It’s also easy to keep track of my PTO, request time off, and access my paystubs within seconds.

 ### 45. Convenient, All-in-One Payroll Platform with Prompt, Helpful Support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Danielle H. | Executive Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 22, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

Gusto is extremely convenient, easy to use, and the customer service is always prompt and helpful. Having everything on one platform is exceptionally nice for staying organized and makes payroll, insurance, and compliance needs a breeze.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I haven't experienced many pain points with Gusto. It was at first a bit confusing to try to establish employees in different states, but their customer service reps quickly assisted me.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto is solving the problem of having a company in CA with an employee in NY... the CA payroll company we used to use doesn't cover all states. It also makes payroll simple and fast, sends helpful reminders, and benefits our company by saving us time.

 ### 46. Effortless Payroll and Onboarding—Fast, User-Friendly, and Great Value

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dawn K. | VP, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 08, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

The Gusto platform is so easy to use. I have used ADP and Paychex and they are so unnecessarily complex, and this is coming from someone who has a payroll and HR background. Gusto is so easy that even a small business owner with no previous experience processing payroll could handle it. The layout is very user friendly. The software basically walks you through everything step-by-step. I can run payroll in a flash. And onboarding is also super fast. It sends the new employee a welcome message and reminders about documents they need for their I-9 and notifies other staff that a new employee is coming on board. It reminds you about birthdays and anniversaries for staff as well. And you cannot beat Gusto's price. I highly recommend.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

Honestly, nothing is really bad about it. I cannot think of anything negative.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I like that it reminds me about running payroll, that it reminds me when it is time to send out tax forms, reminds me when there is a holiday. I am a small business owner and I juggle many balls in the air Gusto makes sure that I am in compliance and don't miss deadlines

 ### 47. Intuitive HR and Payroll Management with Gusto

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Breauna S. | Ministry Assistant/ Receptionist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 07, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I love that Gusto allows employees to change their clock-ins on their own. Tracking paychecks is one wonderful perk, but the best part is the savings goals feature. With the paycheck tracker, I know ahead of time what to expect from my upcoming paycheck, and it's nice to see the amount I'm receiving without having to check my bank account. The savings goals feature is one of the best I've come across in an employee app. It's incredibly easy to set up a savings goal that not only takes money out directly from my paycheck but also accrues interest. The ability to name goals and create multiple savings goals is an incredible feature. Additionally, the initial setup was extremely simple, and I was signed up and an employee via Gusto before my company even added me to their internal systems.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

There should be an 'other' option available when requesting time off for situations that do not fall into a specific category. Also, if the comment needed to adjust the time clock ins and outs could be optional instead of required that would be helpful to some in certain situations

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto keeps track of all employees in one spot, preventing miscommunication and calculation errors. It allows employees to change their clock-ins on their own, tracks paychecks, and supports savings goals with ease.

 ### 48. Streamlined Payroll Management, Reliable but Pricey

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kaprizyla A. | Human Resources Assistant 1, Internet, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 23, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I really like the autopilot feature in Gusto. Once payroll is set up and reviewed, you can schedule it, and it just runs without needing manual submission every cycle. This automation is a real time saver, especially for a team like ours where payroll is not the only thing on everyone's plate. Also, the step-by-step process for setup, like adding employees and setting up pay schedules, is clearly laid out, making it easy even if you're not an expert in the field. From an IT perspective, integrating Gusto with other systems, especially BambooHR, is straightforward.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

When something goes wrong and you actually need to talk to someone, the response can be slow. There were a couple of times we had questions that needed a fast answer, and ended up waiting longer than we like, which for payroll issues, is not a great feeling. The pricing structure is also something to watch as your team grows. It starts off very reasonable, but as you add headcount or move to higher plans, the per-employee fee adds up faster than you'd expect. It’s not a deal breaker, but something to plan for.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Gusto to automate tax filing, ensuring deadlines are met and avoiding penalties. It seamlessly integrates with our accounting software, streamlining payroll data transfer and reducing manual work, which saves us a lot of time and effort.

 ### 49. User-Friendly and a Force-Multiplier for Our Small Business' Payroll

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David A. | Operations Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 04, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I like that Gusto is user-friendly, packed with proactive notifications, and—frankly—fun to use.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I haven’t run into any issues while using Gusto. There are a few features I’d like to explore in more depth, but I see that as a positive rather than a drawback.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto offers a great interface for time tracking and expense tracking. I can track my team’s hours easily each pay cycle, and I’m also able to adjust hours or fix clock-in mistakes without any hassle. They offer some great features as well, like Gusto Wallet and the Spending Account. For a small business like ours (less than 11 employees), it provides robust payroll infrastructure in a format that saves us time. I can’t emphasize enough how user-friendly it is—our employees can download the app and start using it right away with ease.

 ### 50. Bright, Clear UI That Makes Payroll Tasks Fast and Easy

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 24, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

So easy to log in and find everything you need. I've used a lot of software for the same purposes that I use Gusto, and have to say this is my favorite. Everything is clear, the UI is bright and straightforward, and I can always find what I needed within 2 minutes

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I honestly haven't found anything I dislike thus far. I would love for Gusto to handle even more use cases so we can centralize more items through this tool. I have not experience any downtime, and am able to access other items I need through the integrations.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

can easily find my benefits information, this is mainly what I use it for thus far. I can imagine there are other use cases here, but would like to explore more to see what else is possible through the UI. Viewing payment information is also easy to view and track.
