**What do you like best about Buildertrend?**

What I like best about Buildertrend is the scheduling feature. As a Production Manager, having a centralized schedule that I can easily update and share with both subcontractors and homeowners has made project management much more efficient. Everyone can see schedule changes in real time, which greatly improves communication and helps keep projects on track.

I also use the Selections feature extensively to manage and document homeowner selections and approvals. It provides a clear, organized process and helps prevent miscommunication throughout the project.

The Daily Logs feature is another valuable tool for documenting job progress, site conditions, and important project details. Having that information readily available has been extremely helpful for tracking project history and maintaining accountability.

Additionally, the Bid Requests feature saves a significant amount of time by allowing me to send requests to multiple subcontractors at once and compare responses efficiently.

Overall, Buildertrend has helped streamline our workflow, improve communication, and keep our projects organized from start to finish.

**What do you dislike about Buildertrend?**

One area I would like to see improved is the scheduling feature. While I use it extensively and find it very valuable, it can be time-consuming when a project schedule needs to be pushed back significantly. Currently, if I have a large schedule built out and need to move it back several weeks or a month, I often have to adjust each schedule item individually unless everything is linked together. It would be extremely helpful to have an option to shift an entire schedule forward or backward by a selected number of days or weeks with a single action.

I've also experienced a few minor issues with the mobile app. Additionally, some of our field staff have found the app difficult to navigate at times, particularly when trying to locate their assigned schedules and tasks. Improving the user experience and making schedules easier to find for field users would make the platform even more effective.

Overall, these are relatively minor concerns, but addressing them would significantly improve efficiency and usability for our team.

**What problems is Buildertrend solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Buildertrend has solved several organizational and communication challenges for our company. One of the biggest benefits has been providing a centralized location to track project financials. Being able to manage bills, subcontractor invoices, purchase orders, and material expenses all within the same system has made it much easier to monitor project costs and stay on budget.

It has also improved our ability to track materials throughout the project lifecycle. Knowing what has been ordered, what has been received, and what is still outstanding helps prevent delays and keeps projects moving forward.

Another major benefit is client communication. Buildertrend gives homeowners visibility into their project schedule, selections, change orders, and progress updates, which reduces confusion and keeps everyone on the same page. Having a single platform for communication has helped improve transparency, increase client confidence, and reduce the amount of back-and-forth emails and phone calls.

Overall, Buildertrend has helped us stay more organized, improve financial tracking, and provide a better experience for both our team and our clients.

**What do you like best about Buildertrend?**

BuilderTrend provides extensive coverage of items in all stages of a project - including at Lead or Prospect phase.

**What do you dislike about Buildertrend?**

The one thing that proves to be challenging over and over again is the amount of improvements and changes in format that are rolled out. On the one hand, it is great to have them, but on the other hand, it is hard to keep up with them. By the time you get used to the change, another one is released and makes the user go back and learn the new one.

**What problems is Buildertrend solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Having the ability to see and control all portions of a project - from Lead to Completed Project - on one platform is a great time saver. Along the same lines, being able to keep a consistent approach to project data storing provides ease of use on the Clients' side too. 

Integration with QuickBooks works very well.

Buildertrend provides a single platform for managing projects, clients, subcontractors, and financials in one place. The visibility across every stage of a project is excellent, enabling our team to track progress, manage variations, issue purchase orders, monitor budgets, and communicate with clients efficiently. The client portal, along with real-time project updates, has significantly improved transparency and helped reduce the administrative workload for our team.

**What do you dislike about Buildertrend?**

Certain features are also more user-friendly on desktop than on the mobile app. Also the new tasks feature is not as good as the previous To Do's feature, it doesn't read as well or present via mobile with enough information.

**What problems is Buildertrend solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Buildertrend solves the challenge of managing multiple construction projects, teams, subcontractors and clients from different systems. By bringing project management, scheduling, communication, financial tracking, purchase orders, variations and client updates into a single platform, it has significantly improved efficiency and accountability across our business.
The biggest benefit is visibility. Our team can see project status, outstanding tasks, approvals, budgets and communications in real time, which reduces missed information and improves decision-making. It has also enhanced the client experience by providing transparent project updates and a central location for documentation and communication. Overall, Buildertrend helps us streamline operations, save administrative time and maintain better control over our projects.

**What do you like best about Buildertrend?**

What I like best about Buildertrend is that it gives our construction company one central place to manage the project record. We use it for schedules, daily logs, selections, change orders, photos, documents, client communication, invoices, and job-cost visibility. That matters because high-end custom construction has a lot of moving parts, and the biggest problems usually come from scattered communication or undocumented decisions.

Buildertrend helps us keep clients, superintendents, selection coordinators, and office staff working from the same information. Daily logs and photos improve transparency. Selections and approvals help prevent confusion before installation. Change orders and invoices are easier to track. For us, the biggest benefit is better organization, better documentation, and fewer surprises.

**What do you dislike about Buildertrend?**

There is very little I dislike about Buildertrend. The main area for improvement is that because the platform is so comprehensive, it can take time for occasional users to learn where everything lives and how to use it comfortably.

For clients or team members who only use certain parts of the system, such as selections, documents, photos, messages, approvals, or invoices, a more simplified user view or quick-start workflow would be helpful. The software performs well, but onboarding occasional users can take some explanation.

Integrations and financial workflows are valuable, but like most construction software, they require careful setup and consistent processes to get the full benefit. The ROI is strong when the company commits to using Buildertrend as the central system, but it may feel like a large investment for builders who are not ready to standardize their operations.

I also think there is room for more practical AI assistance over time, especially for summarizing project communication, helping identify missing information, and making it easier to find key project details quickly.

Overall, these are improvement suggestions more than major complaints. Buildertrend works very well for us.

**What problems is Buildertrend solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before Buildertrend, the biggest challenge in construction management was keeping all project information organized in one reliable place. Custom homebuilding involves schedules, daily jobsite activity, client communication, selections, change orders, documents, photos, invoices, and budget information. Without one central system, those details can easily become scattered across emails, texts, spreadsheets, and conversations.

Buildertrend helps solve that by giving us a single project hub. We can document daily progress, communicate with clients, track selections and approvals, manage change orders, share photos and documents, and keep financial information more visible. That creates a better project record and reduces the chance that important information gets lost.

The benefit is fewer surprises, better accountability, and more professional communication. Clients have better visibility into what is happening. Our team has a clearer place to look for project information. Office staff and field staff can stay more aligned. It also supports our cost-plus billing process because documentation and transparency are very important.

The biggest measurable benefit is not one single time-saving feature, but the overall reduction in confusion and rework. Buildertrend helps us operate with more structure, which is especially important on high-end custom homes with many decisions and moving parts.

**What do you like best about Buildertrend?**

Buildertrend is a very complete software in that it handles the entire life cycle of a project from bidding, to contracts, to selections, schedules, task lists, invoicing, financials, etc.  It is nearly every piece of software you need to run a construction company rolled into one.  All of that functionality can make setting things up seem daunting.  What I found easiest is you can start off with the basics and keep adding modules into your process as time goes on.  Their support team makes getting started fairly easy by helping integrate your existing data versus making you upload it manually.  They also offer in person training, which I would recommend for a new user wanting to get the most out of the system. 

The software is straight forward to use once you understand their menu structures.   Almost every page and menu is customizable, which is a blessing and a curse.  It takes a lot of time to get things to display exactly how you want it to, but the nice thing is the views can be saved and shared amongst the team.  It integrates well with our HR (Gusto) and accounting (QuickBooks) software.  I've only had the QuickBooks integration have problems a couple times in the 10 years we've been using it, and support is easy to get ahold of to help troubleshoot.

The price of the software seems steep at first, but when we broke down going to a cheaper option and having to add different softwares to do all of what BuilderTrend does, it was more expensive.  There is also value in having everything in one place so the team is more likely to use it consistently.

**What do you dislike about Buildertrend?**

They can be slow to implement changes and innovate due to all of the different parts of the software that interact.  You end up figuring out workarounds but ultimately if something doesn't fit your process you have to change what you do because BuilderTrend is too big to change their end.  

Similarly, they have been slower to integrate AI than some competitors that act more like startups.

**What problems is Buildertrend solving and how is that benefiting you?**

BuilderTrend helps in nearly every aspect of our company.  It helps us be more profitable on jobs while keeping schedules on track.  It helps be more proactive with client communication to resolve issues.

As a remodeling company, seamless communication between our office, field crews, and clients is everything — and Buildertrend delivers on all fronts. Our entire team, from project managers to on-site crews, relies on Buildertrend daily. 
The client chat feature alone has been a game-changer; it keeps every conversation in one place, gives everyone full visibility, and has completely replaced the chaos of texting clients back and forth.Change orders and invoices are handled directly through the platform, which keeps clients informed at every stage and eliminates the back-and-forth that used to slow us down.
What truly sets Buildertrend apart, though, is their customer service. Their support team is incredibly responsive and genuinely helpful — always ready to solve a problem or walk you through a feature. **What do you like best about Buildertrend?**

Buildertrend is integrated across all aspects of the building process and helps automate many of the tasks our team needs to complete. The financial side of Buildertrend benefits us the most, and its integration with Quickbooks Online is one of the biggest reasons we chose the software. It allows us to track where every penny goes on each job, so we can bill accurately and price jobs appropriately for our clients. On average, we save about 10 hours per week by eliminating double entry between our job-costing spreadsheet and our accounting software.

**What do you dislike about Buildertrend?**

The feature we’d most like to see added is bank draws for spec homes. The product works fantastically for cost-plus or fixed-price homes. However, when a bank is involved, there isn’t a straightforward way to create a “draw” that’s formatted the way banks often require. Right now I use a workaround by creating a client invoice, but I don’t send it to QuickBooks. It works well enough, but it isn’t a perfect system.

**What problems is Buildertrend solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Buildertrend takes the stress out of scheduling subcontractors. Instead of having to make dozens of phone calls per day, the software automates it for us. As long as we make sure the information is up to date in Buildertrend, the subcontractors know when to show up.

Having a single hub where clients and all GDB team members can communicate gets rid of the scattered emails, texts, and calls that tend to slow projects down. It keeps everyone on the same page, without you having to constantly relay updates between different parties.

The New Bills Update — This has been a big win for streamlining the accounting process on your end.

**What do you dislike about Buildertrend?**

I do think that sometimes updates are rolled out without being fully vetted for how end users are actually using Buildertrend. I also don’t like how different the app interface is from the full site interface.

The improvements on the financial side, especially around bill entry, have been a tremendous help.

**What do you like best about Buildertrend?**

What I like most about Buildertrend is how it helps us keep everything organized in one place for each project. We primarily use it for billing, tracking invoices and purchase orders, and maintaining a complete project record. We have created a structured file system within each project that stores design boards, order sheets, signed client contracts, and before-and-after photos. Having all of this information centralized makes it easy to access project details, stay organized, and maintain accurate records throughout the renovation process.

**What do you dislike about Buildertrend?**

What I dislike most is that when Buildertrend makes updates or changes to features, there does not always seem to be clear communication about what has changed or how to use the new functionality. While improvements are appreciated, I often find myself having to discover and learn the changes on my own through trial and error. More proactive announcements, training materials, tutorials, or "what's new" guides would make it much easier to understand and adopt new features efficiently.

**What problems is Buildertrend solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Buildertrend helps us keep project financials organized and saves time on administrative tasks. One of the most valuable improvements has been the AI-powered bill entry feature, which automatically populates portions of the bill information. This reduces manual data entry, increases efficiency, and helps ensure bills are assigned correctly to the appropriate project. By streamlining the billing process, it allows us to spend less time on paperwork and more time focusing on project management and client service.

**What do you like best about Buildertrend?**

It didn't take me too long at all to customize it to work for me.  It is incredibly user friendly.  It stores and organizes my tasks (not just my documents) so that I can quickly access old information as jobs age.  I never feel like I "forget" when BuilderTrend has my back. The schedule and the tasks are lifesavers.  The rhythm and routine of a job launch ensures I start every job with complete information.

**What do you dislike about Buildertrend?**

That my colleagues don't take advantage of the other features outside of project management.  I wish our bookkeeper used it for accounting and our drafting team used it to check off job progress.  I wish our estimating department saved their findings in the pre-job stage so I had access after the job launch.  Nothing to complain about BuilderTrend, just the way my company integrates it!

**What problems is Buildertrend solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We struggled with invoicing - checking that deposit invoices were sent at the appropriate time (then followed up on) and submitting final invoices when our work was complete (and following up at the right time).  I think the Tasks helps us stay on track.  I just wish our clients used BuilderTrend to remember to pay their bills! We no longer have to look through a list if bills past due when money is tight; we have a regular system to follow up on overdue balances and money is flowing in steadily.

**What do you like best about Buildertrend?**

I like that they are always changing the software and communicate updates clearly. There's also helpful notes or areas to send feedback. I appreciate the transparency with our clients and the easy communication Buildertrend provides. The client portal is really great, making overall transparency and ease of use for the general user.

**What do you dislike about Buildertrend?**

I think it's a tiny bit harder for people who aren't good with technology to get used to using it because there's so many different features. If you're not good at technology, you're certainly not benefiting from the entire use of the technology if you don't put an extra effort to figure it out. The more you use, the more you benefit since there are so many integrations across the software from leads to client updates to bills to the budget, etc.

Buildertrend helps us with transparency, easy client communication, and features a great client portal. It ensures clients get notifications they care about, enhancing transparency and user-friendliness.

**What do you like best about Buildertrend?**

The integration that Buildertrend offers across many different needs, CRM, Estimating, Invoicing, and being able to connect with the customers with sharing daily logs for job progression.  The user interface is intuitive and easy for most basic users to pick up and navigate.  Typically the support you receive when there is an issue or question is quick, efficient and American Based.  ROI is ok, could use some additional AI integration to take it over the top.

**What do you dislike about Buildertrend?**

The main thing I do not like about Buildertrend is the estimating.  I feel it needs to speed up its R&D to integrate AI with creating proposals.  There are a lot of things we complete or bid that area repetitious, AI could speed that up tremendously.  Also offering a COPY option while completing a proposal, if I have to enter materials of the same kind a lot, or I am installing 5 doors, having to retype that 5 times slows me down.

It takes multiple facets of our business, from the start of CRM, to estimates, to signing digital proposals, to when it becomes a job, tracks the job status, daily logs and acts as our record of time for our employees.

**What do you like best about Buildertrend?**

For me, the biggest benefit is having all project-related information in one place: schedules, financials, client communication, vendor communications, and internal information management. Each project has its own dedicated space, which saves us time and effort. The interface is easy to use, and they have a team of experienced people who help you as you explore the different functionalities.

As an estimator, the integration with Home Depot and Lowe’s allows us to keep their pricing on hand for our estimates. Buildertrend makes scheduling, invoicing, planning, and contract writing so much easier than it used to be.  plus it's all in one place! It works great with QuickBooks and makes things seamless.  We very much like not having to worry about our file storage and the fact that it rarely goes down is a huge plus. It seems a bit pricy but we think it is worth it.  Every single time we have had an issue the support team has been exceptional. When writing weekly updates the AI tool makes up the whole thing and only requires me to do the editing.

It would be great to be able to integrate with ADP to do payroll so that we are not stuck with having to transfer time to their system.  It can be a real drag

Buildertrend is easy to use and not at all glitchy. It is mostly intuitive and superior to other similar apps of its kind that I have used. I appreciate not having to log in every time I use it as I punch in and out of it four times a day. Photos upload quickly and with no trouble from my android device.

Switching between jobs while clocked in could be a bit simpler and easier to do.
The app could also do a better job of clearly distinguishing between which job is currently being displayed and which job the user is clocked in on.
My biggest complaint is that I receive constant (2-3 daily) email notifications regarding client activation and sub insurance expiration that have nothing at all to do with me, and I have not been able to disable email notifications no matter what I do. As someone that likes to keep a clear inbox, this is very annoying.

Keeping projects within budget is also in part due to BuilderTrend and being able to see costs and the budget throughout the entire construction period. Their tech support team is very responsive and helpful!!

As with all programs, when updates happen is can occasionally throw a wrench in existing processes and result in relearning how to do something but that is normally done knowing that they have made something better by changing it. It’s easy to access all my data from closed tabs and windows.

The slow loading speed and the lack of manageability are my main issues.

**What do you like best about Buildertrend?**

Customer Service and obviously an ecosystem that works.
We use Buildertrend every day for every aspect of our custom home project management, from communication, to documents archiving, to invoicing Clients and paying subs/vendors.
I love that they keep making improvements to it and keep thinking of ways to make it work better for us.
The custom support is our of this world. I have no idea how I can reach a human anytime I need help within on average 2 minutes. Blows my mind every time and every one is so knowledgeable and helpful.
I always like how it integrates with QB, though there are slight improvements to be made.
Anyone using BT for the first time can figure things out relatively easily.

**What do you dislike about Buildertrend?**

Being very attentive to detail by nature, I tend to stubble upon little things that could have been made better. But overall it's difficult to dislike anything about the software.
To be fair, it's not a perfect system, but it is an excellent one. Lightyears ahead of any other project management software.
There are lots of good ones out there, but none have made it so easy and pleasant to use and thought of every little thing.

**What problems is Buildertrend solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It solves the problem of having to use multiple softwares. Before BT, we used another project management software plus: Adobe Pro, Google Drive, BlueBeam, Site Audit Pro, QB and Melio (still do but very minimally), a scheduling software (I believe it was Monday), and a few others.
Today we use BT, Gmail and QB.

**What do you like best about Buildertrend?**

All pertinent documents and job plans can be posted to a job. Completing daily logs to keep track of progress on jobs. Uploading photos of progress and issues so office can view in real time and figure out solutions.

**What do you dislike about Buildertrend?**

If you upload a photo to the photos tab instead of under a job, it doesn’t get categorized properly. The photo just gets uploaded to the generic photos category and people trying to reference the photo. Have a hard time finding it.

**What problems is Buildertrend solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Allowing for better communication with the office and field crew. All pertinent documents and information are uploaded under the job so everything is in one place.

the estimating and job costing, the estimating was just a little bit better than writing it on paper
