I love that Buildertrend is a one stop shop for everything building related. It has a great way to make selections, run a calendar and view all your documents. It also can do purchase orders and change orders Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The hardest part is they are always changing things which can be good and bad. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Buildertrend software is a great tool. The customer support and training offered through Buildertrend is amazing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The software has so many capabilities, that I wish I had enough time to learn more! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It works, but there are finally better options Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Proposals and Estimates are separate modules. You can import proposals to esimates, but not if you want to template any of your allowances or selections. Basically, no matter what you do, you're stuck doing a bunch of manual entry every time you set up a new job. Also lots of duplicate entry with allowances and selections.
Constant price increases. Focused on non-important features rather than fixing core issues. Partial fixes to try to appease users.
Just check out their videos on youtube and you'll see... oh wait... there's NOTHING on Youtube. Strange, huh? As opposed to JobTread ( not affiliated, but this is where I moved my company ). You can watch Jobtread's videos on Youtube and have a full understanding of how it works. What is Buildertrend hiding? Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It has lots of fetures and options. Its mildly customizable and useable. They have made some useability updates. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The functionality of BT leaves a lot to be desired.
You cant move a pop up window.
You can resize a pop up window.
Every time they update it we have to figure out how to use it and adapt to it not the other way around. We are talking about capenters and trades people here and not nerds. We don't adapt to technology the point of technology is that it adapts to us to make our life easier and not more fustrated than the tired old men that we already are.
The time clock on iphones is deplorable. They use the eqically stupid spinning slot machine wheel to pick from the 12 hours and 60 minutes. I often find myself scrolling 30 minutes in either direction to get where I need it to be. And if I go the wrong direction then its way farther than that. Why can't you just have a 10 digit keypad pop up its so much simplier? When you do go to enter time it likes to think that it knows better than you and starts to correct your entries. I dont know if they fixed this because I stopped using the iphone to enter time 2 years ago because it was so anoying. I either use my android or I have to drive back to my office and enter it in on a PC. (Great productivity and time waster UGH!!!) In fact my whole team does this because using the time clock on the iphone is so worthless. IT SUCKS!!!
The time clock on Android is a better, but its still anoying again a 10 digit key pad has been around sence the 50's maybe lets just stick with what works. At least on the Android you can get a keypad to pop up so you can just type the time in instead of tapping on a clock face like Im a retarted child. Have you seen the size of a carpenters fingers we are basically ogres (nerd reference you the engineers) so if I need to hit a specific time and I tap on the 10 on the clock dial its basically any where from 9-11 and thats compounded and worse on the minutes thats anywhere in a 10 minute span. It usually lands in the five minute increments, but not always adding to the already fustrated ludidite using the thing so he can get paid.
Now for the pc interface In 1984 Steve Jobs invented the Macintosh (probably before most of you were born.) And in that interface one of the key system features you could have resizeable windows and you could grab and move a window. Now, here we are 39 years later and you CAN NOT do that on a pop up window in your program. WOW! so sad. You also CAN NOT move that window out of the way so you can see, say the calendar, behind it so that you can enter info in this window that is based on the underlying info its just pathetic lack of basic programing. I mean come on!
Finally when you are doing time entries you have to enter a shift by clicking on a menu the has, get this, 2 items on it. Oh my god really? Then there is a button for " clock in" which I nor anybody at my company has used for the entire 10 years that we have been using your program, because when I get to a job site I am getting my tools out and "working" not clicking little buttons on my PC which is back at the office. When I sit down at my PC I am "recording a shift" that I did earlier in the day because the phone entry system sucks. It should have a button for "Recording a shift" and not a menu item.
Next when I am done "recording a shift", I am probably going to be recording another shift so it would be nice if there was a button at the bottom like the "Save & New" on the schedule item pop up window.
Lastly the delete button. We have had trouble with the "Delete" button not whiping out everything. It would be nice in the customizable options if when I carpenter misenters a time entry if he could select and delete "that" entry with out deleting everybody time entries for all time. We had this happen a few months back and the customer service rep said yea thats just how it is, all or nothing. Currently a carpenter has to call our office manager who is busy with lots of other things and have her delete the single entry after she exports it to excel. NOT GOOD! All the information can be stored in one place. The financial aspect is clear and clean. Homeowners have access to all the information in one place. RFI's are easy to keep track of and keep subvendors on task. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The constant updates. The selections tab, we are a custom home builder and do not have standard selections for every job so we cannot just auto populate. Also it doesnt print well at all. Edit in excel / word sometime fails and you loose EVRYTHING! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It's one place to communicate with clients and employees and track financials. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It can be frustrating learning how to use BT. The videos they post are helpful in learning the system. It's not as easy as some applications where you pick the obvious choice and it's right. BT in a little more involved. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Scheduling Features in addition to the "To-Do's. Cost Tracking is done well for the limited services that we are currently using. This platform is very user friendly. Overall Project management out does the competition Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The worst part of this platform is the limited capabilities of the finance section. Allow the users with a limited service contract the ability to Run Cost reports that are as friendly as the rest of the system. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I recently started using Buildertrend for a construction project, and I have to say, I'm impressed. The platform has made a huge difference in how I manage my projects. What I love most about Buildertrend is how user-friendly it is. It's so easy to navigate and find exactly what I need.
The real-time updates and scheduling features have been a game-changer for me. I no longer have to constantly check in with my team to see what's happening with the project. Instead, I can log into Buildertrend and see everything in one place. The collaboration features are also fantastic. It's great to have a single platform where my entire team can communicate and stay on the same page. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Learning curve: While the platform is user-friendly, there is a learning curve to getting used to all the features and functions. This may take some time and require training for new users.
Limited customization: Some users may find that the customization options are limited and that the platform doesn't fully meet all their specific needs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
