What do you like best about GoCo?

I like how GoCo balances simplicity, compliance, and practical automation, especially for managing our US-based team while we run a separate Germany-focused HR setup with HiBob. The onboarding and offboarding workflows are incredibly smooth with automated and compliant steps like sending offer letters and tax forms with built-in e-signatures. This has eliminated almost all manual paperwork and made new-hire setup fast and consistent across our US team. I really appreciate the user-friendly self-service portal that allows employees to easily request time off, view benefits, update personal information, and access important documents independently. This drastically reduces administrative busywork for our team. Another strong point is how well it adapts to small-to-mid-sized international businesses. It’s reliable, customizable, and stable enough to support our cross-border operations without overwhelming us with unnecessary enterprise features. Plus, it integrates cleanly with our existing tools, keeping US HR operations streamlined while staying fully compliant. Overall, GoCo makes daily HR tasks easier without sacrificing functionality or compliance, which is exactly what we need for our distributed US and DACH teams. What do you dislike about GoCo?

First, its localization for non-US markets is very basic. It’s clearly built for US compliance and workflows, so it doesn’t support German labor laws, DACH-specific leave rules, or local payroll standards natively. That’s why we use HiBob for our Germany team, but it would be helpful to have more flexibility for cross-region teams. Second, some custom workflows and approval chains feel rigid. We can’t fully tailor onboarding checklists or time-off policies to match our exact company structure without workarounds. Simple adjustments often take more steps than expected.
