Over the last five years, Workato has given me so much. It has helped me grow as a professional and work across different industries around the world. I really like how developer-friendly it is, as well as all the connections and options it offers to automate and optimize tasks. Overall, it provides a wide range of solutions.

Although it is more expensive than other similar platforms, the price is justified by its user-friendly interface and the new features that Workato is constantly adding. Workato’s weak point is that it can be difficult to offer it to clients with small or medium-sized projects. The cost, especially for clients in Latin America, Asia, or India, is too high for most of them.

I also don’t like that the AI assistant for creating recipes is very basic. It seems designed for people with little or no automation experience, and its scope is quite limited. What I like best about Workato is that it combines integrations, automation, APIs, and AI agents on a single platform. I regularly use the Recipe Builder, Agent Studio, skills, knowledge bases, APIs, and pre-built connectors to build business workflows and AI-powered solutions.

The feature that has had the biggest impact on my workflow is the visual recipe builder. The drag-and-drop interface allows me to build, test, and deploy integrations much faster than traditional development approaches. Instead of spending days writing integration code, handling authentication, and managing API communication, I can focus on workflow design and business logic. This saves me several hours every week and helps accelerate project delivery.

I also use Agent Studio extensively for AI-focused use cases. In projects such as fraud investigation and intelligent case analysis, I've built AI agents that leverage skills, knowledge bases, and connected applications to retrieve information, analyze context, and perform actions across systems. Rather than building separate AI infrastructure, I can integrate AI capabilities directly into business workflows. Genies can use skills to interact with applications and knowledge bases to access business-specific information, which makes it easier to deliver practical AI solutions.

Another feature I use frequently is the connector ecosystem. Most of the enterprise applications I work with are already supported through pre-built connectors, and when a connector isn't available, I can use APIs or custom connectors. This flexibility means I'm rarely blocked when integrating new systems.

One unexpected benefit has been reusability. Skills, recipes, connector patterns, and agent designs can often be reused across multiple projects. As I've built more AI and automation solutions, implementation has become progressively faster because many of the components can be adapted rather than recreated from scratch. As my Workato implementations have grown to include integrations, APIs, recipes, and AI agents, I've found that troubleshooting across multiple assets can be time-consuming. While job logs and monitoring tools provide good visibility into individual workflows, I'd like to see stronger end-to-end tracing and dependency impact analysis to make it easier to understand how changes affect related recipes, skills, and integrations.

For AI use cases, Agent Studio has been valuable for building intelligent workflows, but additional capabilities around AI observability, response evaluation, and governance would help organizations monitor and scale AI agents more confidently.

I would also welcome improved asset discovery and visualization for large environments containing hundreds of recipes, APIs, skills, and connections.

Workato's biggest strength is how much one platform covers. It handles simple point-to-point syncs and complex multi-system orchestration with the same recipe model, which keeps automations readable enough for ops teams to own without heavy engineering support. The connector library spans the MarTech stack well, and strong governance (multi-environment support, versioning, role-based access) makes it practical for a large org where many people ship automations. Cost scales quickly, since task-based pricing and per-connector licensing make it hard to forecast as automation volume grows. Debugging complex recipes can also be slow, because job history is detailed but searching across runs and tracing a failure through nested recipe calls takes more effort than it should. Promoting changes across environments works, but dependency handling (connections, lookup tables, and shared properties) still needs manual care, and there is little built-in support for testing recipes before they go live. Workato is incredibly easy to get started with, yet powerful enough to handle sophisticated integration and automation scenarios. While Workato is far easier to use than traditional integration platforms, complex integrations can still become quite technical. Troubleshooting APIs, managing schemas, handling rate limits, and understanding the behaviour of third-party systems can sometimes be challenging and require specialised knowledge. I like Workato's integration patterns, particularly the intake recipes, processes, dispatchers, and point-to-point integration with data queues. The no-coding feature is also a big plus for me. These elements make it possible to handle both huge volumes of data and simpler point-to-point integrations effectively. Additionally, the initial setup of Workato is quite easy compared to MuleSoft, since everything can be developed and deployed in the same environment without needing an external IDE. The deployment process could be better. In Workato, I feel like I have to move all the parts from dev to prod, dev to testing, which can block other developers from working on or enhancing the same recipe in the development environment. I like that Workato is mostly plug and play, which makes it easier with the graphical control to map the data sources. It's easy to use and graphically driven, which allows me to work across multiple platforms. When I design workflows, being able to interact with them visually helps me see the steps and errors clearly, making it easier to manage the process. This graphical interface really helps in saving time and showing me where I need to take actions quickly. I really love Workato. It's fast and easy to use, and the UI is really intuitive, which makes using it a breeze. I really like the recipe template features, which allow us to create templates for our most common use cases and reuse them at scale. This supports my work by enabling us to quickly stand up integrations for new customers. Workato's speed and reliability make it a great tool for us. I would say the logging is sometimes lacking, especially in loops, where you only see the last iteration instead of all the iterations. Plus, the logs are truncated a lot of times, and it would be really nice to be able to look up a job based on information from the job, maybe in the trigger rather than needing to add info to the job report. If they could stop truncating logs and add visibility for each iteration of a loop, that would make it a lot easier. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I use Workato to automate various tasks at my company, big and small, from handling tickets for teams like HR and payroll to managing finance tasks, all with a centralized dashboard to control automated processes. I love its user interface, which is easy to use even for non-technical users. The community support is fantastic; I found a dedicated connector made by the community for a small payroll system we use, which was very helpful. I also value Workato for saving me a lot of time on repetitive tasks that, although simple, add up across the week. The platform allows me to focus on other projects, which is a huge help. Sometimes the connectors fail, and the explanations aren't as thorough as I'd like. Adopting the connector for Paylocity was a bit of a headache at the beginning, with a lot of issues where our API calls kept failing. I know Workato's hands might have been tied, but a bit more support would have been great. I find Workato easy to work with, and I like the depth we can develop in it. We started working with Genies, and it’s amazing what they’ve developed. I’d like more in-depth dashboards to display errors, green flows, or how Genies are thinking. I often have trouble viewing into loops within recipe jobs, and I need to use a logger as an array to understand each iteration when debugging. I’d also like more customizable error reporting. I really like Workato's usability, which makes things smoother. I also appreciate the Workato Academy, which provides valuable resources for learning. The arrow system is helpful as it uses natural language to define requirements and optimize recipes, making the process intuitive.
