incorrect employee set-up at payroll data entry stage can lead to problems down the line with LSL etc.
Errors in payroll close can lead to significant month end bottlenecks
Support is generally well managed, but can be slow

**What problems is AIM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Full excel export capability

  ### 2. Comprehensive program, but dated software.

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Steve J. | Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 16, 2021

**What do you like best about AIM?**

AIM is a great solution for a smaller scale operation who is comfortable using a physical server (non-cloud). For the retail industries it serves, they really have most everything covered in terms of day-to-day operations. The inventory tracking, repair tracking, and sales components are well thought out and relatively user friendly. Contract billing and the lease data tracking are typically smooth to use once they're properly set up.

**What do you dislike about AIM?**

There is quite a bit of maintenance that is required to keep file data from being corrupted I have found. Backups must be done manually or set up outside of the program. The main reason that we moved away from AIM was the need for a physical server which can be prone to mechanical failure and other issues that are not problematic when a cloud server is utilized. The program is based on FoxPro, which Microsoft discontinued years ago and no longer offers support for. While the customer service team at AIM was always helpful, I was finding myself calling quite frequently and they were only available during their business hours which don't always coincide with other retail operations. Reporting data was available, but needed to be manually extracted and sometimes have custom reports created.

**Recommendations to others considering AIM:**

If you are planning to use AIM for eCommerce in addition to in-person POS, weigh your options carefully. While the eCommerce function for AIM works well, there are many more solutions that are much more robust and may allow for more freedom when it comes to SEO and other data distribution.

**What problems is AIM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We needed a comprehensive POS software that included serial number tracking and recurring billing possibilities. We were able to store this data and retrieve it when needed.

  ### 3. AIMsi in a music store

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Isabella P. | Music Therapist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 29, 2020

**What do you like best about AIM?**

AIMsi is a simple interface that we use for point of sale transactions in our music store. It is simple to navigate which, in-part, makes it simple to train new employees on it. This is its most valuable feature to me.

**What do you dislike about AIM?**

AIMsi's most recent update has had some glitches but otherwise we have always been satisfied overall with its performance. I'm sure the glitches will be worked out with time.

**Recommendations to others considering AIM:**

AIMsi is very easy to navigate and keeps everything very organized for our staff. It's a great tool for keeping track of our customer's history and contact information. Perfect for a multi-faceted music store like us!

**What problems is AIM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

AIMsi is our point-of-sale software so our usage runs the gambit from selling instruments, accessories, setting up contracts for instrument rentals and signing students up for private lessons. We also use AIMsi to organize our instrument repairs at the store and keep track of customer history and information.

  ### 4. Integral to a lot of business, but not very intuitive.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Music | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 09, 2019

**What do you like best about AIM?**

I like that Aimsi so seamlessly works with our store's inventory as well as the fact that we're able to run transactions even if the system is down because of how it connects to the credit machine.

**What do you dislike about AIM?**

Aimsi is not the most intuitive process when it comes to pretty much anything, from rentals, returns, service tickets, etc. Nothing runs incredibly smoothly, but once you know the steps, they're fairly easy to remember. I think it's possible that in a world with Square and other such easy credit-processing applications, I'm not as much of a fan of Aimsi due to the fact that it doesn't seem like it's caught up.

**Recommendations to others considering AIM:**

Just know what you're getting yourself into - it takes a lot of setup and input, but once that leg work is done, it will benefit your company overall. A good training manual would be a solid thing to add to your company's database for new employees, because there is a large learning curve.

**What problems is AIM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As mentioned, Aimsi is helpful in the respect that it still works to run credit because the credit machine is set up separately, so we don't have to worry about not being able to run payments if part of the system is down. It also helps with a full inventory database and automatically calculates a lot of aspects for you, which is definitely nice.

  ### 5. Robust System for our Retail Operation with some Downfalls

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Richard C. | General Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 22, 2019

**What do you like best about AIM?**

Best feature that we use is band instrument rentals. The software is set up to manage the complications that come with renting instruments to customers who come into our store. The rest of the system checks most of our boxes but not much different than other products.

**What do you dislike about AIM?**

Constant updates and new issues that arise with each update. Requires lots of back end man hours. Could make the upkeep of software easier and less expensive.

**What problems is AIM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use the software to link inventory in multiple stores. It is fairly easy to transfer items from store to store when needed.

  ### 6. Accountability and Transparency is Enhanced through AIMsi.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ruth M. | Internal Auditor , Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 27, 2019

**What do you like best about AIM?**

Accounting is a major role, which is the driving force of any company, to ensure that finances are well managed. AIMsi is a product which ensures that there is inventory control, among other tracking managerial skills.

**What do you dislike about AIM?**

The tool requires some inclusion for budgeting, where the tool can include more forecasting features. AIMsi is a facilitating app.

**Recommendations to others considering AIM:**

Successful progression from AIMsi. That is accountability and transparency is well ensured.

**What problems is AIM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

WE have an opportunity of ensuring AIMsi works for transparency and accountability. AIMsi is a resourceful app, which eliminate corruptions.

  ### 7. The Industry Workhorse

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Taylor K. | Installation Manager, Entertainment, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 20, 2018

**What do you like best about AIM?**

I like that is the only software that does everything our unique company needs. It has POS, Contact management, Inventory Management, Accounts payable, Account Recieviable, Consignment sales, Short Term Rentals, general ledger, email marketing, and it is easy to use after a lot of training.

**What do you dislike about AIM?**

I dislike its outdate GUI. Still running almost DOS style. It is very clunky and difficult to pick up very quickly. One other thing I dislike is the customer service. They are typically very dry and difficult to understand. They are technically minded and not customer service minded. Great when you understnad the product really well but they are not very good at making you feel smart about the mistakes you might have made.

**Recommendations to others considering AIM:**

Make sure this is the only software that meets all of your needs.

**What problems is AIM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It provides the ability to be an all in one system for our company. This is the main benefit. For our company so that we do not have to use several different systems.

  ### 8. Very Outdated, but very robust - if you pay for all the modules!

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Miles S. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 01, 2018

**What do you like best about AIM?**

Aimsi does have features designed for what our business does. Rent to own, repairs (we never paid for that module), layaways, lesson billing (we don't use it for scheduling though). And it can be your POS software (but our business never used it for that either)

**What do you dislike about AIM?**

Any operation requires constant use of hot keys and/or constantly closing the current menu and starting over from he master menu. Almost nothing is crosslinked or multitaskable. Very outdated interface. Very hard to teach new users.
EX: "what is my balance?
modules>open account>(type name>select account>view balance

"Are you sure that is right!" = close payment screen>modules>customers>customer history>find>(search name)>select account>click drop down open>scroll to invoices>(view invoices and click each to see when the paid ones were paid)

"OK, you paid last month but was late and was applied the month before"
"Ah, OK well I will go ahead and pay now" = modules>open account>(type name>select account>view balance.

A modern platform would have links to do related tasks from every screen or menu.

**Recommendations to others considering AIM:**

RAIN POS

**What problems is AIM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are currently using rental billing with auto payments and lesson billing inside aimsi. plans to migrate off it are in place and in process for the renal payments already.

  ### 9. An alright POS, but could be better

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Music | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 30, 2018

**What do you like best about AIM?**

Allows us to be fairly comprehensive with our inventory, can keep track of notes and description and history of specific serial numbers. Cash sales are pretty easy, and it's nice to be able to keep track of customer history and have everything lined up and ready to go. Also has auto payments.

**What do you dislike about AIM?**

Backing in to change an invoice can be impossible sometimes, plenty of things where you have to return an entire invoice just to change one short thing. Once an item is sold or attached to an account, it can be hard to track down that serial number. Once a note is placed on an account can be difficult to get rid of.

**What problems is AIM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Have been able to keep track of detailed inventory, print receipts easily without opening a different function, and auto payments for rental programs are extremely helpful to our credit department.

  ### 10. Not the worst POS, but not the best

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joseph B. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 03, 2018

**What do you like best about AIM?**

I thoroughly enjoy how many things Aimsi can do such as POS, contracts, rentals, etc.

**What do you dislike about AIM?**

I do not like how slow the software is and the lack of a mobile platform

**What problems is AIM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Contracts, rentals, POS, some inventory issues.

  ### 11. Old and clunky

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Daniel K. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 06, 2018

**What do you like best about AIM?**

Tons of features. Anything you could want to do in retail is here.

**What do you dislike about AIM?**

It is old and clunky. The learning curve is way too high and training new staff takes way too long. I have staff that have been with us for 5 years who still don't know stuff.

**What problems is AIM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use it to do rent to own.

  ### 12. Aimsi point of sale system

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jordan S. | Educational Sales Representative, Music, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 30, 2017

**What do you like best about AIM?**

It is easy to navigate through and gives a clean print out of invoices.

**What do you dislike about AIM?**

I am not able to print from screens within the system. I have to screen shot everything in order to print.

**What problems is AIM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have been able to track our sales more effectively.

  ### 13. AIMsi Small Music Business

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Arts and Crafts | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 05, 2017

**What do you like best about AIM?**

Seemingly endless features. This software is capable of almost anything you could possibly need as a small music business. This includes scheduling, instrument rentals, retail sales, and much more!

**What do you dislike about AIM?**

There are a lot of buttons and sometimes it can get confusing as to what steps to take.

**What problems is AIM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps us keep track of inventory and scheduling and ensure no conflicts with scheduling as it tells you when there would be a conflict right off the bat.
