We also really like the integration with our accounting systems - Quickbooks Online oiginally and Microsoft Dynamics Business Central now. The support we received during implementation of both systems and ongoing support after implementation has been great. **What do you dislike about Tipalti?** The only issue we've had with Tipalti is that we cannot use it for prepayment invoices on inventory purchases with our ERP system - MS Dynamics Business Central. **What problems is Tipalti solving and how is that benefiting you?** Tipalti is solving our tax compliance issues and helping to make sure we are withholding the proper amounts from our vendors in many international jurisdictions. It has been wonderful as it has caught withholding situations that I would have missed during manual collection of forms. If a form is incorrectly completed, it will default to maximum 30% WH collection. One such example is when international vendors do not provide a tax ID (either foreign or US). The form instructions allow them to not provide a tax ID but the consequence of that is maxuimum withholding. ### 8. I'm able to knock out AP processing quickly in a small company environment and focus on other close tasks. Bills are automatically captured and most of the data entry work for the entry is done for you! Price is competitive with other platforms. Support responds quickly and helps resolve any issues--which I haven't encounted many. Implementation was smooth and painless. Intregrates very well with NetSuite. **What do you dislike about Tipalti?** Its not free. We had to use different platforms for each country and the overall payment process was much more time consuming and there was a lot of room for error, because payees could not edit their information. Once we started using Tipalti, paying ALL of our staff became a matter of 5 minutes! It's great to have all payments integrated in one place and the platform is user friendly, which alerts me when something is under risk review, I really like that. I feel this eases concerns a Supplier may have and also facilitates payment processing directly from Tipalti (by ACH, wire or check). Having the W-9s in Tipalti also makes simpler work of the year-end Form 1099 process. **What do you dislike about Tipalti?** There will be some integration errors with whatever accounting software is used, but these are mainly due to human error when coding the bills. We really don't have many clients complain about the payment time. Once they have their payment and tax details in, the payments get sent quickly. I also love how Tipalti can make payments all over the world. I also like the ease of the 1099 and 1042 reporting at the end of the year. **What do you dislike about Tipalti?** The tax forms can be difficult to fill out and very difficult if you do not speak English. So, I wish the forms could be translated to their language (the whole form) and there were better instructions. It's not horrible, it could just be improved. **Recommendations to others considering Tipalti:** I feel like Tipalti really supports me and reaches out to check on me and how things are going. **What problems is Tipalti solving and how is that benefiting you?** We make thousands of royalty payments a month to clients all over the world. Before Tipalti, we took two people to send the payments out manually using various platforms/methods (PayPal, Cambridge for wire transfers, Western Union, cut checks, Zelle, etc.) We also had a way for clients to enter their tax details but there was no validation at all and we would get several 1099s rejected at the end of the year. Also, if a client put in a fake tax ID number like 12345678, we had no way to catch that. It was a very big manual process to do the 1099s and 1042s that would take weeks to complete. With Tipalti, we set it up so before the client can request payment, they have to fill in all their payment and tax details. We then verify the details once and then they are ready to be paid. Clients request their payments monthly, and the requests get sent to Tipalti and after an easy approval process, the payments are made in several methods. We have cut down our processing time to one person only part-time! And it's totally scalable so as we continue to grow, payments will be made just as easily at 1,000 to 100,000! Also, the end-of-year 1099/1042 process is streamlined with everything we need on two reports. ### 22. Updates can generally be made in-house with a sandbox environment. Straightforward integration with NetSuite. **What do you dislike about Tipalti?** Glitches and lags are not uncommon, so you end up hearing a lot from end users. For example, a few forms would freeze or lose already entered data upon saving or moving to the next tab, causing people to submit it repeatedly. We started out our implementation with one consultant who simply could not deliver. Every requirement we had was a question they needed to forward to their engineering team. This caused a delay of a full month on an implementation that was going to take 5 weeks. Once the delay and issues were escalated, the next consultant stepped in and took care of everything in a week. Same experience with Support. Unless you have one of the senior Support people already responding to your ticket, expect a slow resolution. They also constantly changed Account Reps (3 in a year so far). Once we were a bit late in responding to an intro meeting request, we were already handed over to a new Rep who replaced the less new Rep we hadn't even met. **What problems is Tipalti solving and how is that benefiting you?** Purchase, Vendor, and Contract approval. I love that tax ID numbers are verified so I don't have rejected 1099s at year end. And I love that vendors self-onboard. **What do you dislike about Tipalti?** The only issue I've had is that sometimes, when contacting customer support, it would be easier and faster to work with someone by phone or video conference than by emails. But overall, customer serivce is very responsive. **What problems is Tipalti solving and how is that benefiting you?** Tipalti has automated the approval process. We know exactly who bill approvals are waiting on. Our vendors love having the option of ACH. Overall, this has saved lots of time and given us great visibility. We love the Bill Audit feature as well. ### 37. Every implementation has its tradeoffs and implementing Tipalti was no different. The OCR recoginition is pretty accurate and it does a lot of the work with filling in the fields. The onboarding process is seamless with their portal and is very for external vendors to sign up. **What do you dislike about Tipalti?** I think that there's definitely a lot that most power users would want from Tipalti. Advanced reporting features is something that everyone wants because growing companies need KPIs and metrics to measure their volume. The lack of PO features when it comes to receipts is really bad for companies that have inventory. It creates a manual disconnected process. Bill processing has features that are supposed to work but they don't such as post-approval editing in the bills like custom fields or due dates. **What problems is Tipalti solving and how is that benefiting you?** I definintely think that having so many international vendors requires management of different payment methods and currencies. The fact that we can pay most currencies we want and the vendor has the ability to receive a wire instead of an international ACH is a game changer because even Coupa Pay with Transfermate can't compete with that.
