Simply put, I have never had a problem with Ninite. It works exactly as advertised every time. **What do you dislike about Ninite?** Although it is out of Ninite's control, some third-party apps used to be available in Ninite but are no longer listed. I understand that Ninite removed some apps at the publisher's request, so I don't fault Ninite for that problem. **Recommendations to others considering Ninite:** If your work for a managed services provider and frequently script the installation of common third-party apps, review Ninite's command-line options. I love Ninite so that instead of investing time in downloading and installing at least 10 different software packages, I just click some checkboxes and just download and install one file (which of course downloads&installls everything else). I also do not have to worry about versions. I only have up to 10 machines, so I use Ninite's free version manually. But if I had at least 50 machines, I'd definitely splurge on the Pro version. **What do you dislike about Ninite?** To use it effectively, you are limited to what they are offering. If you need something else (like Git or Sourcetree) then you lose effectiveness the more programs you need that aren't included in Ninite. **What problems is Ninite solving and how is that benefiting you?** I save up to 1 hour everytime I need to do a clean install (which is about once a month) and instead of worrying about having multiple versions, I just download Ninite and know that the latest version is installed. ### 10. I switched to being able to get a custom installer for my favorite packages that I use on every device, and it can be accessed once you set up a new system for family or friends. I have been observing this field for 10 minutes looking for something I don't like about Ninite, but I certainly can't dislike anything about this tool. Nothing I don't like. The availability of software is limited, and you can't upload applications of your choice. **Recommendations to others considering Ninite:** I left every small part of the software program in the script to ensure that I took photographs of the destination possibilities again and wouldn't need to upload and re-upload them later. Ninite provides me with an easy shortcut that I can use whenever I like, so I can stumble robotically if any of my applications need updating and do it within the story, without me having to worry at all. It significantly streamlines our recovery procedure, so we spend much less time installing software programs and have additional time to help people. It automatically install or updates the software you selected without questions, it will only show the results when its done and if any installation fails it will tell you why. It doesnt install all the bloatware that sadly comes with most software nowadays, this way you cant install them by mistake. With the pro version you can automatize the download and updates on the computers of your network. **What do you dislike about Ninite?** Even if they have a good variety of software they dont have some that are very need and useful and doesnt allow you to integrate those programs for yourself. It saves on a few headaches when a user needs an app installed, or updated, and they don't have to come to IT. If Ninite hasn't updated it, I can logon to the admin console for the app and deploy or update. If the machine needs to restart for the update to complete, I can make sure the user is aware I'm restarting the machine and take care of that too. ### 14. As someone that manages 2000+ devices, this tool makes it so easy to keep them all up to date it's hard not to recommend. Ninite also has an option to install a program you are trying to update, if it doesn't yet exist. I have it set so that it automatically runs across my network on a Sunday night and updates all of our standard apps. It is very very easy to use and once set up I don't really ever have to touch it again. **What do you dislike about Ninite?** I don't really dislike anything in this tool. If I had to pick something, I guess I would just like more applications to be supported. Possibly Microsoft Office or even integrated with Windows itself however that is more what WSUS is for. The only other thing is if applications are open then it doesn't run so I have had to script it to close apps that could be open (it runs at 2am so shouldn't cause an issue). **Recommendations to others considering Ninite:** If you want something that will just work and not need to play around too much with, this is the best option. I left every bit of software in the script to ensure that I was capturing future possibilities and I wouldn't have to go back in and add it later. **What problems is Ninite solving and how is that benefiting you?** All of our standard applications are kept up to date every week. I have turned off the auto updaters on things like Chrome, Firefox etc and let Ninite handle it all itself. It also means that since it runs under an Admin context we have no problems with users not having access to install them. ### 18. Furthermore, it requires zero user input (the typical `Next, Next, Next, Accept, Install` behaviour of most installers) and will unmark any third-party sotware that might be offered through the installation process (such as toolbars, for example). Finally, it's totally free. A paid, pro version exists, focused on enterprises, with more advanced features such as installations across multiple computers in a network, for example. **What do you dislike about Ninite?** It is difficult to dislike Ninite, it does its job particularily well. However, it could use some more customization (such as the possibility to override the system language, for example).
