What do you like best about Samsara?

What do you dislike about Samsara?

The system is missing a lot of options, such as automatic notifications for drivers in the far-left lane and notifications for heavy speeding. The speeding data is available, but you have to dig through the data and search for each speeding event manually instead of having it automated. There are also a lot of false violations, and speed detection can be incorrect because Samsara has the wrong speeds recorded in their system.

Overall, the system doesn’t feel designed to be customized to fit specific client needs; it seems more like a one-size-fits-all setup. Our safety team gets involved with driver violations at different levels, and the review department is the very first step in our process because of how many false violations we see. Once a violation event is touched by anyone, that person is automatically assigned as a coach to the driver for the remainder of their employment, and that default behavior makes it difficult to manage violations appropriately.

Another limitation is the inability to create your own violations when you notice something on the camera that Samsara missed.

Account managers are completely absent from trying to help with any issue. The account manager and his manager (in our case) are both ignoring any of our attempts to reach out for help.

System cannot be integrated with 10Street to keep record of all coaching and training sessions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Samsara?

Samsara’s camera system is what I like best. You can set the requirements based on what your company needs to monitor, and the system also monitors the cameras for you. Being able to use the safety inbox to review different flags is immensely helpful. We can quickly see what drivers are struggling to comply with, send them the snapshot videos, and have a conversation about how to correct it. Every snapshot still needs to be reviewed because AI can make mistakes, but having a clear list of events to review is much easier than going through hours of footage. What do you dislike about Samsara?

Our company has pilot cars that we use to escort some of our loads. Because their role is different from our drivers, we need the settings on the pickups to be different from the tractors.

I was struggling to change a setting, so I called support. I was told they couldn’t change it because the settings had to be the same as the tractors. I knew that wasn’t right, because our previous manager who oversaw Samsara had the settings set up differently for the tractor versus the pilot car. I went back into the settings and tried again, and I contacted support one more time, but I got the same response.

Later, our company’s Samsara representative reached out to check in. I explained the issue, and she solved it right away. I dislike how confusing the settings can be, and I also didn’t like being told by customer support that changing the settings wasn’t possible when our Samsara rep was able to fix it immediately. What do you like best about Samsara?

I like how easy it is to handle my quarterly IFTA and keep track of my equipment. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Samsara?

The sensitivity of the driver app is a big issue for me. It keeps picking up my drivers’ movement after they’ve clocked out and headed home. It’s also overly sensitive with harsh stops, speeding for a minute and 11 seconds, and “following too closely.”

Another frustration is navigation in the app: when I’m trying to find something and have four pages to go through, it will suddenly revert back to page 1. The reports are also a problem. The timesheet report doesn’t separate the date and time, so I have to add two columns and then hand-enter the time rounded to the closest 15-minute intervals.

And when I have an issue and need help, I seem to get a different person almost every time. They usually don’t read my original complaint or issue and instead just send more videos or articles for me to read. I’m a safety manager, not an IT person. What do you like best about Samsara?

I really like a lot of things about Sámara; it’s a comprehensive program for the tasks I perform at work. Here are some of the features I appreciate:

There are actually very few things I don't like, but generally speaking, these are some of the areas I find a bit lacking:

Notifications that can become excessive if not properly configured

Limitations on advanced customization of some modules

What do you like best about Samsara?

The whole process from set up to initialization has been amazing. The Samsara staff has been very supportive and helpful. The sales team was there every step of the way to provide help and information as we were testing out the product, but they never pressured us to purchase. The installation was so quick and easy, especially compared to other products we had tested. The staff and the amazing product made it a no brainer for us to become part of the Samsara family. What do you like best about Samsara?

I like the Visibility that we have on the whereabouts of our fleet, the current mileage, fault codes, and other things that we can now see. If we are working on updating registrations yearly, we can get the current mileage. If an accident happens, we can find the video footage to help validate who is at fault. What do you like best about Samsara?

I use Samsara mainly to track our field engineers for installations and support work. It solves the confusion problem by showing exact arrival times, which previously relied on call logs and manual notes. I like this feature because it helps clarify billing issues as some projects rely on accurate onsite visit hours. The trip replay feature is one of my favorites, allowing me to visually understand full movements rather than just reading data. It gives a clearer picture, especially when an engineer visits two nearby clients in one trip. Trip replay has also saved me during internal reviews by visually showing discrepancies between reported and actual events, like when an engineer left and returned to the site for a spare part, clarifying what appeared as an overstay. What do you dislike about Samsara?

Filtering data can be a little rigid. If I want a very specific time window with certain vehicles only, I usually export and adjust in Excel. Inside Samsara, it works, but not always the exact way I want. I wish there was more flexible time filtering. Sometimes I don’t need full day data. I just want, say, 10:30 AM to 1:15 PM for only two engineers. Right now I can filter by date, but when I need very specific hours across selected vehicles, I usually export and clean it outside. What do you like best about Samsara?

I like the quality of the images from inside and outside the cab of our vehicles. I appreciate the warnings when drivers are potentially driving in an unsafe manner so we can use these as coaching and training tools to help foster safe driving practices in our company. What do you like best about Samsara?

I like Samsara because it's easy to use and integrates everything into one platform. It combines ELD compliance, GPS tracking, safety cameras, maintenance, and reporting, making the management of operations much more efficient. I find the all-in-one system valuable because it reduces the need for separate platforms. The most vital aspects for our operations are ELD and compliance management, AI safety cameras, real-time GPS visibility, maintenance and DVIR automation, and centralized reporting. The initial setup was relatively straightforward. I decided to switch to Samsara for a more integrated solution, as managing separate systems before was time-consuming. What do you dislike about Samsara?

What I like best about Samsara is the customer service. It has been amazing every time I have had to reach out to them, which has been a few times.
