I really like a lot of things about Sámara; it’s a comprehensive program for the tasks I perform at work. Here are some of the features I appreciate:

Immediate alerts (speeding, unauthorized stops, etc.)

Automatic reports that facilitate decision-making

There are actually very few things I don't like, but generally speaking, these are some of the areas I find a bit lacking:

Reliance on an internet connection for real-time data

Initial learning curve for some users

Reports that sometimes require additional configuration to be useful

Notifications that can become excessive if not properly configured

Limitations on advanced customization of some modules

I like the Visibility that we have on the whereabouts of our fleet, the current mileage, fault codes, and other things that we can now see. If we are working on updating registrations yearly, we can get the current mileage. If an accident happens, we can find the video footage to help validate who is at fault. The Coaching part of it is great too as it can come across more as the program coaching instead of Big Brother or the Manager. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I use Samsara mainly to track our field engineers for installations and support work. It solves the confusion problem by showing exact arrival times, which previously relied on call logs and manual notes. I like this feature because it helps clarify billing issues as some projects rely on accurate onsite visit hours. The trip replay feature is one of my favorites, allowing me to visually understand full movements rather than just reading data. It gives a clearer picture, especially when an engineer visits two nearby clients in one trip. Trip replay has also saved me during internal reviews by visually showing discrepancies between reported and actual events, like when an engineer left and returned to the site for a spare part, clarifying what appeared as an overstay. Filtering data can be a little rigid. If I want a very specific time window with certain vehicles only, I usually export and adjust in Excel. Inside Samsara, it works, but not always the exact way I want. I wish there was more flexible time filtering. Sometimes I don’t need full day data. I just want, say, 10:30 AM to 1:15 PM for only two engineers. Right now I can filter by date, but when I need very specific hours across selected vehicles, I usually export and clean it outside. I like the quality of the images from inside and outside the cab of our vehicles. I appreciate the warnings when drivers are potentially driving in an unsafe manner so we can use these as coaching and training tools to help foster safe driving practices in our company. The one issue that we have found is that on some of the older Samsara units, the current mileage does not appear to work or is not correct. Fortunately all of the newer units are accurate with respect to current mileage. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I like Samsara because it's easy to use and integrates everything into one platform. It combines ELD compliance, GPS tracking, safety cameras, maintenance, and reporting, making the management of operations much more efficient. I find the all-in-one system valuable because it reduces the need for separate platforms. The most vital aspects for our operations are ELD and compliance management, AI safety cameras, real-time GPS visibility, maintenance and DVIR automation, and centralized reporting. The initial setup was relatively straightforward. I decided to switch to Samsara for a more integrated solution, as managing separate systems before was time-consuming. Samsara provides a very intuitive platform that is easy for both managers and drivers to use. The dashboard layout makes it simple to access vehicle insights, trip history, and alerts without digging through complex menus. Implementation was smooth and the system integrates well with our existing workflows, which helped us adopt it quickly. The real time tracking, driver behavior insights, and maintenance alerts are especially helpful for improving fleet efficiency and safety. Some features feel limited when trying to customize reports or extract more detailed analytics. There are moments when certain insights would benefit from deeper granularity or more flexible filtering options. A few tools also require multiple steps to access, which slows down frequent use. While customer support is generally responsive, resolving more advanced or technical issues can take longer than expected. I am in customer service and need to be able to verify delivery status for our customers. The ability to log in and see where a truck is immediately is key. Also, when there are questions about delays I can see the video of any events my driver may encounter. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

When calculating the weekly miles for drivers I need an easier way to view the total miles for each driver per week. It may be there is a function I haven't been trained on, but I usually have to go under reports and add up each day for a particular truck. It would be great to have a report that generates this. What I like most about Samsara is how much it protects both our drivers and our company vehicles on a daily basis. It’s not just a camera system it’s a full accountability and safety tool. The real-time alerts for following too closely, speeding, and distracted driving (like phone usage) genuinely keep you in check. It’s like having a safety coach riding with you, constantly reinforcing good driving habits. Over time, that makes you a more aware and disciplined driver.

One of the biggest benefits for us has been the insurance and liability protection. If there’s ever a crash, harsh braking event, or someone cuts in front of you unexpectedly, Samsara captures everything clearly. That footage provides peace of mind because you’re not left guessing what happened you have proof. In today’s world, that’s huge for protecting the company from false claims and keeping insurance costs under control.

The following distance feature is probably my favorite part. It actively helps prevent accidents before they happen. Instead of reacting after something goes wrong, it encourages proactive safe driving. The voice alerts are also extremely helpful they grab your attention immediately without being overly distracting. It keeps safety top of mind throughout the entire drive.

Another thing I really appreciate is how simple the setup process is. Installation only takes about three to five minutes per truck, which makes fleet-wide implementation quick and efficient. There’s no complicated downtime or learning curve. It’s straightforward and user-friendly from day one.

Overall, we’ve had a very positive experience with Samsara, but like any system, there are a few small areas that could improve. Occasionally, the alerts can feel a bit sensitive especially with following distance or harsh braking in heavy traffic situations where you don’t always have full control over surrounding drivers. While the sensitivity is understandable from a safety standpoint, some fine-tuning options would be helpful.

Another area that could improve is customization of alert thresholds and reporting details. More flexibility in adjusting settings per driver or per vehicle would make it even more efficient for different types of routes and workloads.

I find Samsara to be a strong and reliable platform for fleet and operations management. The user-friendly system and clean dashboard make tracking vehicles, equipment, and driver behavior in real-time really easy. I appreciate the real-time visibility into our fleet, which reduces guesswork around vehicle location, route efficiency, and job status, helping to improve dispatching, reduce idle time, and lower fuel costs. I also like that Samsara centralizes data that used to be spread across multiple systems, providing vehicle health, maintenance alerts, and performance analytics in one platform to save time, improve decision-making, and help prevent costly breakdowns or downtime. The automated maintenance alerts are particularly helpful as they allow us to schedule service based on actual vehicle usage and condition instead of fixed intervals, reducing unnecessary maintenance while preventing costly downtime. I find the hardware of Samsara easy to install—just plug it into the OBD port without the need to cut wires or make holes. It doesn't require a dedicated installer, which makes it so convenient. The website is user-friendly and intuitive, which makes navigating it a breeze. The tools within Samsara work great and I experience very little downtime or interruptions. I find that the reports could be more visual instead of being in log form. Also, the tracking of past history could be improved, like showing a map with vehicle movements instead of just times and locations.
