**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 05, 2025

**What do you like best about Microsoft Power Automate?**

Microsoft Power Automate matches the likes of UiPath in terms of RPA capabilities. The fact that it integrates with the Microsoft suite of products is a huge draw because you can begin processing workflows within the product itself. Generally it is easy to use and follow along, and implementing work flows is generally quite easy.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Power Automate?**

Power Automate might index a bit too heavily on the Microsoft ecosystem. It still requires some upskilling and certification, making it still an intermediate tool that non-technical users would need to spend time with. While its intuitive, it takes some time to get used to.

**What problems is Microsoft Power Automate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Power Automate RPA helped me extract specific files from my email and format them. It was also great for web scraping specific content. I used the RPA a lot for document processing and format as a consultant because I had a very repetitive task that required me to manage status and risk efforts.

  ### 10. Great automation tool

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consulting | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 12, 2025

**What do you like best about Microsoft Power Automate?**

It is a low-code tool, so anyone who dedicates some time can easily learn it. Various tasks can be automated through using the Power Automate on the web, for example sending emails/warnings. Another thing that I like about it is that it can be used to keep data integration & synchronization. For example, if I have a Power App that uses data from a SharePoint list (because in Power Apps using SharePoint lists is way better than connection/using an Excel), I can still provide the users who will keep the data up-to-date an Excel file that they will update, then Power Automate will pick up those changes and update the SharePoint list, keep both the SP list and Excel in sync. And if the reverse needs to be done, if after using the Power App the SP list is updated and updates need to reflect on the Excel, Power Automate can do that Sync.

Power automate for Desktop is also good, I've used it a few times to automate some tasks and it seems to work well.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Power Automate?**

What I dislike the most about it is that sometimes it seems clucky in the way that triggers (except manual triggers) seem to take too long to trigger, sometimes it can take up to 5 minutes to trigger and run the flow.

In power automate desktop I am not sure why but things seem to stop working sometimes, for example if I run a daily flow in desktop it works like 90% of the time, but those 10% fail for some random reason, and if I don't fix it right away since I am focused on working on something else, the next day I come back and run it to then try to debug but it runs perfectly and doesn't fail.

**What problems is Microsoft Power Automate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Keeping data sources in sync and automate alerts to about 700 users. We have various sources that need to be managed and Power Automate helps us keep them in sync when needed.

  ### 11. Power Automate Experience

the problems that MS are solving is about to implement copilot in the flows and extent more functionalties

**What do you like best about Microsoft Power Automate?**

Microsoft Power Automate makes it incredibly easy to automate repetitive tasks without writing much code. I love the wide range of pre-built connectors, especially for Microsoft 365 tools like Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint. It’s very intuitive, and the flow builder allows for drag-and-drop logic that makes automation feel simple, even for non-developers.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Power Automate?**

Some of the error messages can be vague, especially when dealing with complex flows or third-party connectors. Troubleshooting can take time, and the performance occasionally lags with high-volume data processes. Also, the UI could be more responsive when editing large flows.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Power Automate?**

I think, it is hard to integrate with tools outside Microsoft ecosystem. The rest API capability doesn't allow a lot of customisation and also, it is only beneficial for business users mainly.

**What problems is Microsoft Power Automate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have used to run a query against a dataset in Power BI and trigger emails when the value reaches a certain threshold. Have been using it quite frequently and saves me a lot of time by automatically notifying the business users of the data alert.

**What do you like best about Microsoft Power Automate?**

Ability to work with Excel and Word and other desktop applications, create and use arrays and variables, web scraping.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Power Automate?**

Power Automate Desktop is a bit confusing due to sharing the name of Power Automate for cloud flows, while not sharing a similar UI and a different expression language. I wish the ability to work with JSON arrays and objects were the same in both platforms.

I also wish there were more robust array maniuplation functions in both Power Automate Desktop and Cloud Flows, such as the ability to automatically index or ennumerate arrays, the ability to easily identify duplicates or the ability to create an array of items that are not shared between two or more other arrays, that sort of thing.

I would also like more mathematical and statistical functions in both Power Automate and Power FX, such as a MODE() function.

Also, something like the Excel Lambda() function would be great.

Finally, I would the ability to easily parse and manipulate HTML content similar to JQuery

  ### 47. PA + Cognitive Services + Productivity Suite= Holistic Business Transformation Possibilities

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brad Y. | Automation Strategy Consultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 07, 2024

**What do you like best about Microsoft Power Automate?**

Microsoft PA from a process automation standpoint stands on par with the other big players in the RPA space, especially since the release of work queues, and work queue functions which enable cross-VM resource utilization (multi-bot architecture design) for solutions to take on greater workloads, manage exception scenarios, and create additional nuanced triggers and actions. Prior to the release of work queues this was PA's biggest weakness in the product offering.

Three significant differentiators that organizations need consider are: event based triggers, advanced scenarios requiring M/L integration, and how all of these solutions integrate within their existing productivity suites.

Microsoft stands alone in its ability to deliver on event based triggers that can kick off a cloud flow when a new email arrives, data is updated to Dataverse, a new form is submitted, etc. This is powerful since organizations are not tied to scheduling a solution to run at a set time, but rather can rely on immediate event-based automations.

Microsoft's solution though is Power Automate Cloud's connectors and ability to utilize Microsoft Cognitive Services to extend the rules-based automation to include M/L capabilities for more complex business scenarios, which can reduce human judgement and decision making in a solution.

Lastly, all of the above can integrate with Microsoft's productivity suite (word, excel, teams, outlook, etc.) to create a holistic business solution that not only is automating work, but now is capable of integrating with a human workforce- picking up actions from a team member, and executing it on their behalf, or delivering an insights report to them on a regularly scheduled basis, or when specific information (triggers) occur and teams need to be notified.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Power Automate?**

Organizations will need to understand their business use cases before stepping out and beginning to purchase PA licenses. The nuance between Power Automate Desktop, and Power Automate Cloud can be confusing.

This is not entirely uncommon in the RPA space (UiPath has a complex license SKU as well), but some companies have an all in one pre-packaged license SKU approach that reduces the burden for organizations determining what they need.

**What problems is Microsoft Power Automate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Power Automate is being used in a variety of ways from straight forward work execution based off of event triggers, or scheduled activities to more complex scenarios. In a more complex scenario we are using Power Platform to ingest .PDF work orders, OCR to extract the unstructured information and tables, and to present this into a Teams chat for human in the loop review. Once the data has been reviewed and order validated, the worker can then in the teams chat initiate the order entry solution to run, and Power automate will execute the work order submission.

This saves significant time for manual data entry, and also reduces error rates.

  ### 48. Ease of Automation for Non Coders.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kunal J. | Associate Consultant, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

Intuitive interface, and
ability to automate workflows on saving human time

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Power Automate?**

Users dislike the old fashioned user interface,
Complex Syntax,
JSON handling

**What problems is Microsoft Power Automate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It enables users to automate repetitive tasks across various applications and services,
Improved Efficiency and Productivity
Reduced Time and Costs
Also It saves human time which was use to complete the task by automating it which saves a lot of human time

  ### 49. Simplify and Automate processes through Microsoft Power Automate

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Banking | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 19, 2024

**What do you like best about Microsoft Power Automate?**

In my overall 4 years of experience as an RPA Developer, what I personally like best in Power Automate is the low-code or no-code approach. This makes users of all technical levels to understand the platform and concept easily to automate the processes and increase productivity without needing extensive developer skills. I liked both the Desktop and Cloud versions but when compared, cloud version is faster with interactions.
Power Automate works well with Excel and Sharepoint which makes it easy to integrate. Easy to implement the Attended automations/RDA process flows with Desktop version.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Power Automate?**

Being a power automate developer, using it frequently I have noticed there are lot many performance issues. Also we have limited debugging tools as debugging issues in flows can be hard to identify the root cause of it. The error messages are usually generic, which makes it hard to understand where the exact issue is. Also there is restricted flexibility in desktop automations. Need more Customer Support.

**What problems is Microsoft Power Automate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We utilized Power Automate in most of the projects for automating their daily tasks like giving approvals and rejections based on the business process flow triggers. Triggering emails when there is an updation in the process and taking an action accordingly as per the flow. We have used Power Automate in Bank projects for making process flows for opening accounts, interacting with multiple applications and colelcting the required data through automation, retrieving and checking error transaction details, raising requests by filling the details through automated flows. Used in several other busuness process flows which saves time, no human effort and completes the task in less time.

  ### 50. Efficient Workflow Automation with Room for Improvement

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shrinivas A. | Software Data Intern, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 18, 2024

**What do you like best about Microsoft Power Automate?**

Microsoft Power Automate works really well with other Microsoft tools like Excel, Teams, and SharePoint. It’s super helpful for automating stuff across different apps. The connectors are great too, so you can even use it with non-Microsoft services.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft Power Automate?**

Power Automate is powerful, but it’s kinda hard to learn for beginners. The navigation isn’t very user-friendly, especially for non-tech people. Debugging is also a bit tricky, and it could really use better error handling options.

**What problems is Microsoft Power Automate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Microsoft Power Automate has its pros and cons. On the downside, it has a steep learning curve for non-technical users, making it challenging to create complex workflows. Debugging failed workflows can be time-consuming with limited guidance on fixing issues. Performance can also be a concern, as workflows handling large datasets or frequent executions may experience lags or timeouts. Additionally, while it supports many connectors, some require premium licenses, which can increase costs. On the bright side, it saves time by automating repetitive tasks, improves efficiency by streamlining approvals, notifications, and reporting, and allows seamless integration between Microsoft and non-Microsoft tools. It also offers flexibility to design workflows tailored to specific business needs.
