"Easy to use electronic medical record!"

What do you like best?

I personally like how easy to use the software is. As a medical student, taking care of patients, learning the ropes of a hospital, and keeping all your tabs while still managing to learn everything about your patients is super hard! Epic made searching for patients, managing orders, writing notes, and finding labs and imaging studies so easy to do. Epic uses NoteWriter which not only allows us to use templates but also draw out where specific symptoms and physical exam findings are on the patient. This is definitely a plus for more visual learners. I love how customizable it is and made getting organized and prepared every morning before rounds a much more manageable experience!

What do you dislike?

I personally do not dislike anything about this software

Recommendations to others considering the product:

I would very much recommend this electronic medical record. It is very easy to use, intuitive, and customizable. It makes jobs of all members of the patient care team easier to manage

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are using this interface as an electronic medical record system. It makes communicating between providers, hospitals, and even house staff within the hospital so easy to do. It makes the documentation aspect of our job much easier to manage, so we can focus more on patient care !

"Overall excellent system"

What do you like best?

Love having access easily to patient info in a timely fashion and also all meds patients. Narcotic refills are needed to know dates and info about the patient and we also have a link to the pharmacy records in the state database which had been great!

What do you dislike?

There's a lot of duplication on many orders and history/ problem list. Feel like I enter same info too many times. I feel like the lab ordering could be easier and be able to be organized and just click a button. We have ability to set it up like we want but it's very time consuming. There have been many improvements since I've been using the platform so some things are improving. Staff also available to help sometimes over the phone but would appreciate more hands on help.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

It is the most widely used EHR so often available to connect to other systems using it for records. Customizable and very good.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Allows us to have electronic medical records system which is required. Allows us to have more widely available shared records and offer better care as a result. Easier to do chart audits as well and have medical home. Patients are able to access their records and make sure are accurate.

"Almost perfect EMR software"

What do you like best?

I have been using Epic for over 5 years now. Epic is as well organized medical records software. Very user friendly. You can find everything are looking for very quickly. I highly reccomend this software. I like how easy to use it is to deliver medical records. Also it has many different features for all parties in the patient chart to work coherently.

What do you dislike?

I dont like that you have to use another software to view images. Some functions can be difficult to find and training on this system can be a bit tedious but we'll worth it, once you learn it.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

This is a very good software that keeps patients information well organized.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Reducing time in finding and documenting patient's information. This software also reduces medical errors because it helps the doctor and technicians to verify the patient, they are looking at.

"Most used system with easy interface with a few opportunities for improvement"

What do you like best?

I think the best part is the universal nature of epic. In my experience, it is the most used EMR system across the country. This makes medical record transfer easier and lessened chance of needing to learn how to use a new system.

What do you dislike?

The interface is bland and sometimes complicated to find things. The software can be improved to better organize patient lists and find relevant items. For example, there seems to not be an option to do a general "search" field for the entire software. Additionally, the inability to obtain records outside of epic EHR is frustrating. Finding ways to improve compatibility with softwares that are not epic would be helpful

Recommendations to others considering the product:

One of the best EHR systems available but has room for improvement

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Taking care of patients, obtaining medical records for patients, writing in the EHR system to update patient health information. We also use this to track patients for surgeries, emergency departments, and medical histories for outpatient visits.

"A visually appealing, modern way to manage healthcare records"

What do you like best?

As a nurse I love the “brain” feature. It is a great way to see an overview of the tasks I need to complete for each patient. It is so helpful when scheduling procedures and tests for patients because I can see exactly when in the day would least interrupt their care. It is also so helpful in that it reminds me of things like reassessments and labs, and many other things that could otherwise easily get forgotten during a busy 12 hour shift.

What do you dislike?

There are certain small issues but overall it’s a great product. For example, sometimes the required documentation for a patient can be difficult to satisfy, an example of this would be for the “travel screening” at my facility. It is a requirement that we ask each patient if they have travelled internationally within 30 days, and if we select “no” and click submit, the travel screening still appears as “overdue” on the patient’s admission documentation. It was only after much trial and error that I realized that I still, even though the patient had not travelled internationally, had to select “none” for symptoms they are experiencing after recent travel. The system should just automatically waive that question about symptoms if the patient did not travel in the first place. There are quite a few little issues like this that make warning messages and popups for overdue documentation all too common. I worry all these extra warnings and reminders could cause some people to get in the habit of dismissing warning and reminder messages altogether, which could eventually cause them to overlook something truly critical. I think these things will improve over the years as Epic takes more feedback from facilities and hopefully the healthcare providers and staff who are their end users. It is an ever-improving product.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I have realized that Epic solves countless problems throughout the day. If I’m unsure what a medication is for, for example, Epic includes a link to Lexicomp resources for each medication my patient is on. It even scans for medication interactions with every other medication the patient is taking. If I want to be able to update a family member, every note from every specialist that saw the patient is right at my fingertips in chronological order. Epic has a nice flow and also has many safety features for things like procedures and medication ordering/administration that help us to enhance patient safety.

"Epic"

What do you like best?

all patient's info found in one place (data merges from dr's offices & other departments), user-friendly, multiple ways to access or chart the same info based on preference

What do you dislike?

screen has a lot of information (busy) & it takes time to learn to navigate everything. the multiple ways to chart the same thing can be confusing to someone just learning the program. I'm not convinced that healthcare professionals were involved in designing this program. takes a long time to boot up the program. can't switch between users, have to log out & other user log in (which takes a bit of time)

Recommendations to others considering the product:

we only had 1 month of support with the roll-out, & that was because we asked for it. it was a tough, somewhat painful roll-out compared to some others I've experienced over the years, & some Epic representatives were more knowledgeable/helpful than others. the first week without back-up was a hard one! thank goodness we still have 1 or 2 people we can call for questions & the super-users.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I'm on the clinical side (user of program), not the business side

"Great for Echarts, as long as they stop changing it. "

What do you like best?

Epic is a great software for medical providers to input medical records. It creates a synced easy to use platform that allows to to navigate through the chart seamlessly. In addition to this you can create filters in the chart in order to easily access pertinent medical history for case reviews. I.E. I used a dermatology notes filter in order to see all dermatologic encounters for the past year.

What do you dislike?

The only thing I would change is the amount of updates. I feel like right when you get used to the platform they release an update that changes the layout. This can be frustrating and time consuming.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Customize your platform for ease of use.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Epic so far has been the best EHR that I have seen. It is easy to navigate and customize.

"Great for viewing patient records "

What do you like best?

The tabs are easy to use and can be customized per the user. The program does not lag and saves everything automatically. Epic is really easy for new users to learn and is intuitive. We has many older doctors change from using paper charts to Epic on their computers and they did not have an issue with the change. The tech support from the Epic team was amazing during the transition. They stayed for two weeks to help work out any problems and helped individual users to customize their Epic workspace.

What do you dislike?

It is somewhat difficult to use on a touch screen tablet with the pen. This takes up valuable time, usually hindering one on one time with a patient and may seem impersonal. Although on a normal desktop it is relatively easy to use, the tablet/ipad version seems to need some more work to make the interface more seamless to use.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

It is an amazing program and easier to use than most other EMR systems

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

It is easy to send messages, view the schedule, and patient history at the same time. It is also able to be customized to the professional level of the person using the program. For example interns can use a modified version of epic which limits their access to certain areas which may include confidential information, but they are still able to easily access their tabs. It has also solved the problem of communicating with doctors in different parts of the hospital.

"Epic makes documentation easier!"

What do you like best?

The best characteristic of Epic is the ability to access records, data, and exam information from other healthcare providers. It also allows for the connection between different speciality areas by including their contact info, their name, and what their plan is. As a physical therapy student doing my clinical at Barnes Jewish, it's amazing to be able to look at notes from a rehab, other hospital, PCP, LTAC, or nursing home to learn more about the patient

What do you dislike?

The worst thing about Epic is the amount of time it takes to learn the system. It can also take some time to determine where exactly you can find certain information based on how long you have been using the software.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The ability to communicate and learn from other health care providers. The ability to look back at prior hospitalizations/ encounters to determine history, prior level of function, and course of care. Another benefit is the fact that you can look at vitals or neuro checks taken by the nurse overnight in case the nursing shifts have changed and you would like to see what the other nurse saw.

"Medical Practice Administrator Use"

What do you like best?

Overall the most widely accepted to to easy of use and customization to your own portal. Both clinicians and administrators love the ease of use, templates, and remote access ability for both providers and more. Patients or families can easily access their own medical records.

World renowned medical records software that is both attractive to current employees and perspective employees. The confidence in knowing our electronic medical records are secure from modern threats, and is available to be upgraded with the every change healthcare system.

What do you dislike?

Sometimes organization choose to heavily customize their systems that may cause a downstream inability to receive new updates from EPIC. For my current hospital there are some desirable features and advancements that we are prevented from pursuing without going through a total system upgrade. Sometimes the system is so secure that employees have trouble accessing what they need without lengthy security authorization and role assignments.

Coders and IT professionals are limited in EPIC. Once the system is implemented an organization will struggle to appropriately staff and IT support team of analysts and developers.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Epic is the most advanced system. While costly to the organization there will be an immediate level in satisfaction among employees due to Epic's name and quality.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Patient safety, quality of care, and employee satisfaction all key accomplishments from a problem solving standpoint. As a widely used system this has allowed easier on-boarding and training for clinical staff familiar with Epic - decrease training time upfront. Streamline process to train and get access for all those that need it.

"Patient Care Rep User"

What do you like best?

It flows easier with the new update. You can easily add in new insurance and verify coverage for the patients. Fairly easy to input information for new patients to the system.

Love how easy it is to find patients in the system.

What do you dislike?

There seems to always be an error when adding in a work comp and doesn't seem to catch that we have filled out the information correctly. Always flags and says you haven't filled it out correctly.

Also when scanning in documents while checking in patients there doesn't appear to be away to delete old insurance cards out of the system which makes there chart appear congested.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Takes several days to figure out but once you remember all the functions and paths of how to get where you want to go it flows easy!

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Easily transfers from one doctors office to another allowing patients a faster check in time.

"Very well layed out software "

What do you like best?

I like how easy to use it is to deliver medical records. Also it has many different features for all parties in the patient chart to work coherently. Once you learn the ins and outs of this software the opportunities are endless. Dot phrases can significantly cut down on documentation time. Easy to use after some training! Very simple application, but it gets the job done

What do you dislike?

This software is great but does require some training and learning before use. It only works well for you once you are familiar with it. It took a full day to train to use it properly but the training is incredibly helpful. Some charting/flow sheets are a bit redundant. Also, sometimes when flow sheets or sections of charting are hidden- it can be hard to find specifically where to reactivate it. I think it takes a while to get the right custom EPIC for your institution in place so there are tons of upgrades and learning curves with new versions.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Epic has one of the best EMR solutions on the market. It integrates well, with various authentication systems, has superb patient portals (usually entitled "MyChart") and has a great on-site support staff at launch. For people who learned medicine the "old" way using Latin-based terms like "NPO" and "PRN" this software is fantastic as it quickly converts it into "layman" language when documenting an encounter. This makes for a compelling tool when outputting medical records for patients, and the patient summary is fantastic post-encounter. It has a few bugs, like auto-replying to messages to a care team telling the patient to refill a prescription using the app or online patient portal when the portal says "this prescription cannot be refilled," and that message is usually not delivered to the care team for review. There are several idiosyncrasies that the less-technical provider will not understand, but as a holistic EMR, Epic makes a great tool that simplifies the encounter process from intake to discharge for all levels of the care team. It is an efficient EMR that allows some communication between different health systems. However, the phone app and IPAD app are rudimentary and need improvements to make them useful.

What do you dislike?

Some functions can be difficult to find and training on this system can be a bit tedious but we'll worth it, once you learn it.Customer support/service is not very receptive to user friendly changes that are requested when it comes to simple tasks that could be made easier by the input of a button or checkbox in certain areas.Downtime for service is can also be problematic if it needs to be performed during work hours which has happened a few times.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

I WISH IT WAS MORE USER FRIENDLY. BE PATIENT ONCE YOU FIGURE OUT THE PROGRAM IT IS A PHENOMENAL TOOL FOR ANY PRACTICE. YOU SHOULD GO THROUGH ALL TRAINING AREAS TO UNDERSTAND THE AREAS OF THE PROGRAM . ONCE YOU USE EPIC YOU WILL NEVER WANT ANOTHER PROGRAM AGAIN BESIDES EPIC.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Reduces medical errors. Easy access to patient information. Viewing test results for patients. The scheduling and charting features were superior to other healthcare software.

"The best EMR I've used. "

What do you like best?

Epic is intuitive, loads fairly quickly, is easy to learn and easy to use. After becoming proficient in this software, you will continue finding new features that speed your work flow and make you more and more efficient.

What do you dislike?

The newest update changed the default colors and fonts, things are a bit more difficult to read now, but personalizing your settings can remedy this.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

learn the software - it doesn't take long. Then you will keep learning about ways to be more efficient for literally YEARS!

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I work at a busy ER and we use Epic from the moment patients check in, to nursing triage notes, ER care including labs and imaging, inpatient notes/procedures, and outpatient care. Having everything in one place increases our efficiency - I can easily look up notes from a patient's previous visits to the ER or clinic, see their surgeries, read procedure notes and see old labs.

"Well organized EMR"

What do you like best?

Although no EMR is perfect, after having used several systems I have found EPIC to be the easiest and most intuitive. As a surgeon, EPIC makes it easy to navigate between inpatient wards, outpatient clinic and the status boards for the ORs. Searching for orders within the navigation panel is as easy as using google and searching for patients is simple using either the patient information, room number, provider etc.

What do you dislike?

Some of the hard stops within EPIC (areas you must fill out in order to complete an action) are cumbersome and do not align clinically with what we as physicians actually do. At my organization, we also have mobile access to EPIC however, we cannot write notes or place orders within the mobile framework which is challenging when on call.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We have had several downtimes to test our ability to function within Epic's offline module which has worked quite well and prepared us for the inevitable times when Epic will be offline

"Robust EHR for Large Healthcare Systems"

What do you like best?

The best part about about EPIC, is that it is one of the most widely utilized systems in hospitals which allows other providers to access and view PHi and other demographic information when applicable making it easy for facilities and providers to collaborate to provide the best possible healthcare to patients. I love how thorough the system is, it has the capability to handle almost any data you can throw at it and organize it in an functional place for frequent or historical use. When I have had to contact customer support for instructions on how to either resolve and issue or identify how to complete an action they have always been absolutely wonderful and extremely helpful. The EHR and image management system is excellent and allows for the efficient transfer and sharing of relative PHI between providers and other employees involved in the healthcare setting such as backend AR Management. Another fantastic feature that other PMS do not offer is the integration of more than one entity within the system at the same system, for example in other systems if you want to switch between the PROFESSIONAL Practice to the FACILITY/HOPD Practice you have to change that entity or group selection and in EPIC it has the ability to access and work in multiple groups at the same time while keeping them separate which is a fantastic feature when working through revenue cycle and medical billing management.

What do you dislike?

For me, what sets Epic apart from other practice management systems is how robust and in-depth Epic is compared to other systems such as NextGen, eClinical Works, or even HST. Most of the systems listed are for outpatient surgical facilities while Epic was designed primarily for HOPD. With that said, EPIC has so many different tools/settings and ways to run reports etc. compared to other systems that can be very overwhelming at first, which is why it’s important to have lengthy and detailed training when learning how to operate the system. It isn’t like the more simple systems where you can just jump into and learn your way around...EPIC is too large for that, which makes training difficult and time consuming. Also reporting can be glitchy and difficult sometimes especially if you do not have the right permissions then it can be a lengthy process going through Administration/IT of your company to obtain proper access, which again can be frustrating. It can very be difficult to locate certain functions and tools, even after training, because some of the features are hidden so deep within the menus that it can be hard to locate them. EPIC can be extremely difficult to transition into a new practice management system and just as difficult if not more so when leaving an old system and starting new in EPIC; data mapping being one of the most difficult parts of the transition.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We have multiple clients who utilize EPIC as their main systems and while it is geared more towards hospitals than outpatient surgical center we have been able to utilize it to help increase our clients revenue 15-20% consistently over and over again and with the use of EPIC’s amazing patient portal we have been able to better handle patient billing and management than ever before, especially compared to other ASC practice management systems. Our coders also love the template and chart alerts that help notify and prevent providers from leaving incomplete work before moving on, which in turn helps reduce delays in billing and revenue on the backend.

"Easy to use"

What do you like best?

I use epic everyday in my line of work. I am able to see how many patients are in the hospital, how many open beds we have, how many discharges etc. It's very simple to navigate when you're looking for something. Also, when having to find someones chart after they are deceased to do paperwork it easy to find and read. I definitely like everything about this program as it is very user friendly.

What do you dislike?

There is honestly nothing that comes to mind to dislike. I have been using this system 9 years and tgere have been several updates. As of right now i cannot think of anything i would change.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I am able to see the entire hospitals status as mentioned above. I look to see how full our ER is, how full the hospital is, what pur incoming and outgoing is.

"A necessary part of each day's work"

What do you like best?

The best part of Epic is the collaboration technology, which allows all nurses and doctors and healthcare workers to see the latest charts for each patient in real time. There are lot of people who work on each patient's experience and it's vital to have a coherent system of care that keeps everyone up to date.

What do you dislike?

There are a few things that come to mind, namely the difficulty in navigation. Many times the most necessary parts of a chart are harder to find, and it can be a maze to get through when a complex patient care situation arises. And they are ALL complex. The smart phrases are also difficult to edit, and sometimes do more harm than good.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Keep up on daily charting and eventually the minutia will come. Practice is what helps this program make the most sense, even under stress.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are solving the greater problem of having many different doctors and caretakers on the same page so there is no redundancy, and so the efficiency of our care team can be maximized. It also is helpful when handing-off patients from one shift to the next, meaning the continuity of care is as accurate and seamless as possible.

"Excellent EMR Program"

What do you like best?

Epic is a fast program - pages load under one second and are easy to switch between. Easy to navigate - everything is appropriately labeled. Generally user friendly - tasks are laid out in an intuitive manner. Appearance of the system is very up-to-date and refreshing. Charting is continually saved. Able to switch easily between tasks without losing any data.

What do you dislike?

Redudency in the system - a lot of the same information in different places; interface can be very busy and distracting. Certain tasks can be hard to find initially, but after several days learning the system, it becomes easier to navigate.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Highly recommend Epic as an EHR.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Using EPIC as an EMR. Primarly responsible for charting and reviewing hospital patients. EPIC is excellent for charting and contains all the patient's information on one system and is easily accessed quickly.

"It's a good change"

What do you like best?

Ability to access records across modules, and via CareEverywhere, you can access records from outside facilities instantly

What do you dislike?

There are a lot of customization and would need quite a bit of collaboration with front line user so the final product is useable. It is definitely a bit tougher for in-patient side of things.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

I would say if your facility is considering EPIC, you do have to plan to have a good internal team to handle the implementation as well as ongoing support It is not a system that you purchase and expect the vendor handle your needs. Its more like Train the Trainer. So your IT team will pretty much handle all aspects unless it is something bigger.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Improve ability to drop charges. So far, users were able to do it with more ease compared to our previous system.

"EPIC at Medical Institute"

What do you like best?

EPIC is an extremely powerful tool that is used as a go to for patient chart review and research projects. What I like most is that there are many smart tools (.dot phrases) that can be used, and one can customize a lot of the window for their type of clinic.

What do you dislike?

Sometimes EPIC is a bit clunky - things did not transfer as well as we wanted when we did an EPIC update, and it has caused some problems regarding a retrospective chart review.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Make sure they are willing to work with your team when updates and changes are made.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We have solved some flow based projects - i.e. minimizing the time the patient is waiting. Working with medical students, we also are able to use it as a catch-all for preventative health measures - i.e. subtle reminders someone is due, for example, for a colonscopy or a flu shot.

"Easy to learn and easy to use"

What do you like best?

I like that there are several different ways to do certain things. I also like the customization aspect that was included in this last update. This allowed me to move buttons around and utilize the buttons I use more often.

I also like the ability to pin frequently used sections under the Epic drop down menu.

What do you dislike?

I dislike that when scheduling patients for appointments in Epic we run into the problem of two patients being scheduled the exact same minute. This ends up double booking the provider, thus causing problems all around.

On the other hand, it does come in handy to be able to schedule in someone's chart while someone else is scheduling a different appointment.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Scheduling patients for appointments as well as checking them in and out for appointments. It's quick and easy to access.

"Great software"

What do you like best?

Health records are getting more and more complex, and the software does a good job considering the amount of data it deals with. Even when it crashes (and it understandably does from time to time),it gets back to normal fairly quick.

What do you dislike?

It's a lot to deal with, so there could be better tutorials and tips available. A more comprehensive search tool would be ideal.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Good enough for what it proposes. Having a specialized team to periodically train employees on its use would be ideal.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Verifying health records for research purposes only.

"Scheduling has never been easier!"

What do you like best?

I like the ease of navigation, through the program. I also enjoy the layout and access to many different scheduling and messaging tools. Staff messaging is a breeze and sending patient information, along with charts is also a lot easier.

What do you dislike?

I'm not very fond of the constant updates and the fact that the app seems to glitch out or lag, sometimes. I'm not sure if this is my computer or the program itself.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

I would recommend getting hands on training, if you have never used it before. It's better to practice than to have it all explained to you. Once you get in the program and start to navigate on your own, it really is easy and efficient.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I'm able to schedule patients easier, sent patients' charts with ease, message doctors and link more than one person in a message. I've realized that out of all of the scheduling apps I've used at jobs in the past, this one seems to be the most efficient.

"I use Epic for EMR and think overall it is fair to good "

What do you like best?

It is easy to navigate once you get used to the system. Built in templates and learning to use smart phrases helps a lot. Overall the system is simple and not too complicated.

What do you dislike?

Updates can be very confusing and often drastic; however, they do not happen often. There is a fairly difficult learning curve initially. The system can also be redundant.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Updates can be overwhelming at times; however, they are not often. The system overall is fairly concise and easy to use. The navigator populates your notes. Chart reviewing is pretty simple. Communication to doctors and other people within the system is pretty good as well.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I don't typically perform business issues; however, it does help me manage my schedule and optimize productivity. It easily helps me see holes in my schedule or areas where things need to be moved around.

"Effective tool, but sometimes a distraction"

What do you like best?

Epic has great features that streamline the care process and, in particular, the documentation thereof. I am able to depend on Epic and its features to remind me of medications that I need to administer, new results I need to review, or parts of an admissions assessment that I need to complete. It is these benefits of the system that I appreciate most.

What do you dislike?

Sometimes, the Epic system can become a distraction from the care that I, as a provider, should have as my focus. Sometimes what happens is that I become so focused on documenting (to make sure that sections are completed) that I delay or put off personal care.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Safety is improved with Epic and quality of care (when not distracted by documentation requirements) is also greatly improved. Epic becomes a partner in health care provision.

"An Efficient Way to Document and Track Patient Care "

What do you like best?

Epic is easy to navigate and learn, well organized, and efficient. The system makes it possible to track daily patient care from a variety of providers and allows clinicians to stay on top of orders, precautions, and other important information. I have never had an issue with the system.

What do you dislike?

The interface of Epic could be a little more user friendly. Overall, functions are easy to be found by experienced and intermediate users, but for a beginner it could be a little challenging. The tables across the database could be a little more readable.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Epic is a common system used by clinicians. It is relatively easy to use and is an excellent tool for maintaining productivity in the clinical setting, It is beneficial to take some time navigating the system prior to using it on the job.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I use Epic during my physical therapy clinical rotations. It helps me keep track of my patients' progress, as well as to share that information with my colleagues and supervisors.

"Epic for Medical Records"

What do you like best?

Epic is very user friendly and easy to navigate, especially as a first time user.

What do you dislike?

The only thing that I dislike in Epic is the way medical records are printed. Sometimes you can print the same document several times, when you don't need it, or when you only need specific information.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Its a great systems software for recording appointments and medical records.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We use Epic to review medical charts prior to patient appointments, also to see a physicians schedule or the clinic schedule for the day/week. It is a great way to keep everyone in the clinic office organized and on the same page.

"My Experience with Epic"

What do you like best?

The amount of customization options within Epic is impressive. I like having more control over a product within our own business entity rather than requiring support from the vendor to make simple changes and apply fixes.

What do you dislike?

There is quite a learning curve to wrap your head around all the different systems and controls that make Epic work. The needed training classes provided by them is proof of this.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Great company to work with and it's a good EMR to utilize in a large healthcare organization.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Epic allows us to provide as needed, up to date reporting and analytics for countless healthcare metrics. I am able to report on numerous data points that can be extracted in several different formats, even the ability to extract to third party software for further analysis.
