The upside about Trimble is that they are always improving the driver and office side of there software making thing more accurate and user friendly. **What do you dislike about Trimble TMS?** There isn't really anything that I could say that I dislike. I have been using the service for 14 years and I know my way around it pretty good and anytime I do need help with anything customer support is outstanding! **What problems is Trimble TMS solving and how is that benefiting you?** It has saved lots of time from back when we had to keep IFTA miles to go over every week and paper driver logs that had to be gone over every week. The front-end can be customized through the use of menu securities, field validations, and custom views that allow us to set what each type of user has access to easily. **What do you dislike about Trimble TMS?** The software itself looks and feels outdated. It's based on older technology that gives it a more mid-2000s look and feel. The applications do have some obscure bugs that come up and get patched in later releases. It's not particularly fast and there's a lot of interconnected parts where if something goes down, it tends to bring the whole ship down with it. **What problems is Trimble TMS solving and how is that benefiting you?** Trimble TMS gives us a way to manage and integrate all aspects of our transportation business. In-house EDI gives us full control of tenders, responses, and EDI invoices, and the TMW Operations interface gives us the ability to manage the entire process from receiving load tenders or building them ourselves, to planning, scheduling, dispatching, invoicing, and settling driver/carrier pay. ### 9. Helps keep tracking loads organized so anyone can see the load and know the status of the shipment. **What do you dislike about Trimble TMS?** The design is very outdated. It could use some updating to help make it look better, as the design can be overwhelming with the amount of information there is to look at. The page doesn't automatically refresh, so it can be frustrating working on a load that has already been booked because I need to make sure I am constantly refreshing the page. **Recommendations to others considering Trimble TMS:** TMW.Suite is a good option if you are looking for a product to help manage the freight that needs to be moved each day. There is a learning curve to it, but once you get the hang of it, it is easier to use. **What problems is Trimble TMS solving and how is that benefiting you?** Booking freight, tracking loads. I have the benefit of being able to see who is working on what loads and what has already been booked that day. ### 10. Great to track all types of drivers. From hourly, mileage, owner ops, and independent contractors. Once paperwork is checked in (which is easy) the billing process can start. TMW is set up to get run with Great Plans which is nice. Once the billing is done and reviewed in TMW and sent over to GP all the sales get auto uploaded to GP. Usually without any issues. **What do you dislike about Trimble TMS?** Setting up drivers and driver loads that have tariffs can be hard and time consuming. Id drivers are not set up correctly from the start there will be problems with pulling in the drive information for loads. If billing items are not entered and set up properly they will cause an VERY big issue in the long run. And are timely to fix **Recommendations to others considering Trimble TMS:** Make sure when the set up and install is done that you go with those directly form TMW to help with this. Also take time and money to have them come in and work one on one with your staff. TMW has many useful things in it but people need to know they are there and how to best use them **What problems is Trimble TMS solving and how is that benefiting you?** The coordination between dispatch and the accounting side are easier. Dispatch does not have to go into the accounting side of things and visa verse. It is a great comfort as an accountant knowing that all the information that those out side the accounting department need to enter can be done in a different system and that accountant data will not be corrupted ### 12. It allows me to reference all of a drivers applicable information by simply typing their name in. In addition, despite the inefficiencies listed below, the planning worksheet is very helpful when it comes to time sensitive shipments. **What do you dislike about Trimble TMS?** Overall, the software has some minor inefficiencies when it comes to entering delay notices, printing trip summaries, etc. In my opinion, printing trip summaries for our drivers would be much more efficient if we could split the planning worksheet into sections based on the entered data. A “print all” button would also be useful **What problems is Trimble TMS solving and how is that benefiting you?** TMW is great for keeping real time data (if coupled with PeopleNet), which has allowed us to monitor driver locations and provide said locations to our client (BMW). ### 13. Everything from customer tracking and billing to parts and inventory. I also find the reminders for repairs and checkups very useful for our company. Dawg alerts are super useful, but in the recent update to online, dawg alerts have to be managed with a config client that relies on silverlight which is too outdated to run on anything **What do you dislike about Trimble TMS?** There are too many dependencies on old and unsecured software like silver light or IE. The layout and design of the software is still clunky and inefficient and feels like it was designed by a high school student in the 90's. Microsoft stack means it's familiar to users and administrators. Easy to train users. Layouts can be customized to restrict access to pages and fields. Existing interface with Microsoft Dynamics GP for accounting makes implementation less time consuming since a custom AR/AP/GL interface does not need to be developed. **What do you dislike about Trimble TMS?** Support can be slow to respond and completely fails to meet their SLA at times. Some applications seem slow. Seems that there are some core features of the product that could be improved or added rather than focusing so much attention on emerging technologies. **Recommendations to others considering Trimble TMS:** Implementation can be tedious (considering the simplicity of the product) due to their methodology and lack of motivation. It is completely up to the customer to drive the implementation and keep TMW progressing. Have a good project plan stick to it. **What problems is Trimble TMS solving and how is that benefiting you?** TMW has allowed us to interface with other applications and systems to eliminate man-hours performing repetitve and mundane tasks. We can track loads via applications that ping driver cell phones, customers can tender orders via EDI or web portals, we can send loads to freight boards directly from the UI rather than retyping. ### 17. I feel as thought the look of the program is a bit antiquated and could be improved. **What problems is Trimble TMS solving and how is that benefiting you?** TMWSuite helps us maximize the scheduling and efficiency of our fleet of tractors. Workarounds or inaccurate data produced with short-haul (shuttle) runs and it's clunky when used for a hub-and-spoke distribution network. Overall, we've made many many modifications to the system to get orders to flow through it in a reasonable fashion. And once you modify it, upgrades suddenly become much more complex. **Recommendations to others considering Trimble TMS:** Keep your options open when deciding upon a TMS and consider what context you're going to use it in (shuttles, OTR-based operations, dedicated distribution, etc.). Select your TMS carefully from there. **What problems is Trimble TMS solving and how is that benefiting you?** Tendering loads to assets, invoicing, dispatching. Historical data is there, although the analytics and reporting is nothing to scream about. ### 21. I think it is easy to locate the information needed on each menu and it is flexible to layout preferences as well. **What do you dislike about Trimble TMS?** Sometimes TMW is too rigid - when there are exceptions to the norm, there can be a lot of hoops to jump through.
