Intuitive, Reliable Payroll Software with Valuable HR Support **Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Kayla C. | Accounting, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** May 26, 2026 **What do you like best about RUN Powered by ADP?** The thing I like the most about this software is that it's easy to use and very intuitive to use. The way the software is laid out, is similar to other web applications with a menu bar in the left to jump to different sections. The software also provides reminders such as if it's a holiday coming up and payroll has to be submitted earlier. I also like that any questions I have I can easily call and get a person. I can call if I have questions about the software and using it, or call if I have a HR question. We use this software for payroll, keeping track of employee records, and workers comp insurance. The software does have integrations with other platforms and software, but we do not use this feature yet. Overall the performance of the software is very reliable. When it does maintenance, it is overnight and outside of business hours. There is a banner at the top of the software that announces any upcoming planned maintenance. The pricing of the software if fair for everything it provides. Having that number to call for HR support has been huge, and allowed our business to not have to hire a dedicated HR person which is a huge return in investment for the business. The software does have AI features, but we do not use these yet. However I feel confident that we will use it in the future as it learns our business and our trends with payroll. **What do you dislike about RUN Powered by ADP?** The downsides can be the wait times on the phone. 90% of the time I call, I am able to speak with a person within two minutes. However at the end of the year and beginning of the year, the wait times can be up to 45 minutes. Another thing I dislike, is that we constantly get calls to try to upsell us on other services. I appreciate that they have other services, but when I tell them no, they come back a few months later to try to upsell the same services. **What problems is RUN Powered by ADP solving and how is that benefiting you?** This software helps us find the best workers comp insurance which saves us countless hours of research. This software makes payroll easy for us which saves us hours on doing payroll with some other platform. We also use this platform for all HR related issues. I also like that all HR documents and articles can be found on this platform ### 2. I've used a couple other payroll services that are extremely difficult to track down specifics about past paychecks or obtain W2's. I can also chat with someone either on the phone or the text box right on the home page, which makes solving any particular issues simple. **What do you dislike about RUN Powered by ADP?** Some employee side issues. I have an employee who works at a different site than me and works primarily in a kitchen with fast paced high turnover. He's unable to access his personal account and for some reason I'm required to make a three way call while he's trying to log in to troubleshoot together. I don't understand how I can't authorize an employee to troubleshoot only his own account. **What problems is RUN Powered by ADP solving and how is that benefiting you?** I have had issues with 1099's because we only have bands that count. They're one time, 3 hour employees that qualify for 1099's and it's annoying to file for them, but ADP has simplified it for me over the years. ### 3. Our time tracking integrates, as does our 401(K), so I just have to input my payroll numbers that vary each time. It's very easy to get tax jurisdictions set up and the customer support is incredibly easy to use. There is rarely a wait and they almost always can help within a few minutes. **What do you dislike about RUN Powered by ADP?** The Custom Reports are limited. There are pre-created reports to select from, but sometimes when I need to put census data together, I have to pull from multiple reports and individual employee pages. The custom reports lack flexibility and the filters aren't helpful. **What problems is RUN Powered by ADP solving and how is that benefiting you?** RUN saves us time and money on payroll. We used to have paper timesheets and the Time Tracking has saved us so much tabulation time. Not to mention, we were able to set up a geofence, so we could verify employees were clocking in and out while actually working. ### 4. The payroll process is straightforward, and I appreciate features like automatic payroll calculations, direct deposit processing, tax filing, and payroll reminders, which help reduce errors and save time. **What do you dislike about RUN Powered by ADP?** One thing I dislike about RUN Powered by ADP is that some features can feel limited or less intuitive, especially when trying to customize reports or locate specific information quickly. Certain tasks require navigating through multiple menus, which can be time-consuming when handling payroll and HR responsibilities daily. I also find that some updates or changes within the system are not always communicated clearly, so it can take extra time to learn where features have moved or how processes have changed. In addition, while the reporting tools are helpful, there are times when exporting or filtering reports could be more flexible and user-friendly. Another challenge is that certain HR and onboarding features feel somewhat disconnected from payroll functions, requiring extra steps to complete tasks that could be more streamlined. Customer support can also vary depending on the issue, with some concerns taking longer than expected to fully resolve. **What problems is RUN Powered by ADP solving and how is that benefiting you?** RUN Powered by ADP is solving a lot of the time-consuming and complex tasks that come with payroll, HR, tax compliance, onboarding, and employee management by putting everything into one centralized system. Features like automatic payroll tax calculations and filings, direct deposit, PTO tracking, employee self-service, onboarding tools, and payroll reminders help reduce manual work and minimize errors. For me, this benefits day-to-day operations by saving significant administrative time and helping keep payroll organized and compliant. Instead of manually calculating taxes, tracking deductions, or managing paper documents, the system automates many of those responsibilities. The employee self-service portal also reduces the number of routine HR questions because employees can access pay stubs, W-2s, and personal information on their own. Another major benefit is compliance support. RUN Powered by ADP helps keep up with changing payroll tax laws, W-2 and 1099 processing, and reporting requirements, which provides peace of mind and lowers the risk of costly mistakes. The reporting tools and centralized employee data also make it easier to pull information quickly for audits, management requests, or payroll review. I have multiple accounts on ADP so it helps save time that im able to search all people from the main menu. It is integrated with my 401k vendor. The website and app both are fast. I get a discount when I open a new business and the pricing is reasonable. The AI interface helps save time when searching. **What do you dislike about RUN Powered by ADP?** I am not able to go to the deductions page when running payroll on my 1099 people. When im running payroll and click on deductions or any other item, I cannot change to any of the other update profile items within the same screen. When I click save it brings me back to the main payroll screen. I would like to update multiple things within the person when in payroll screen like I can when i go to the people option from the main menu. **What problems is RUN Powered by ADP solving and how is that benefiting you?** The chat feature representatives are amazing and always help me resolve any issues or answer my questions without having to explain too much. It is fast and efficient. ### 6. I don't have any specifics on integrations but the performance is good. The pricing is also priced very fairly for such a large company that does so much. I don't currently use the AI very much but any time I've tried to use it, it didn't work great, so I usually just transfer to a human. **What do you dislike about RUN Powered by ADP?** My experience onboarding with them has been a nightmare. If I hadn't used them before and knew the other benefits, I might have cancelled. **What problems is RUN Powered by ADP solving and how is that benefiting you?** It's very streamlined and easy to use. The last payroll company had a very confusing to use software and ADP is not complicated. It's laid out in an easy to use way. Their support is also awesome, the other company we used was terrible at support and we even paid extra to have an individual representative and ADP has by far been better than our previous company in support. ### 7. I was able to call someone and quickly get a fix to my issue. The time sheets are easy to understand and make doing payroll a breeze. The ability to have my team clock in and out on their cell phones makes it easy for them to track their hours since we are on the road most of the time. The price of the program is reasonable for all the features we are able to take advantage of between clock in and out and reports we need for the state and government. **What do you dislike about RUN Powered by ADP?** The sales calls I get for other programs when I did not ask for it. Send an email and if I am interested I would reach out. **What problems is RUN Powered by ADP solving and how is that benefiting you?** The clock in and out feature helps me track the accuracy in payroll at the end of the week. The RUN program makes it easy for me to fix errors they make and make sure that I cover all the hours they work. The program then tells me the total cost for the payroll so that I am sure that there is enough money in the bank. My partner is able to grab the reports easily so he can put them into our Quickbooks account. ### 8. The interface is very clean and user friendly. The side navigation panel makes locating any type of additional data a breeze. We integrated our accounting software with our payroll processing. The GL file is generated right after we approve our payroll. The pricing is extremely fair and less than we had been paying with our previous vendor (Paychex). Most of our issues when they arise are addressed by ADP support whether it be utilizing the AI chat or use instructions or a representative that reaches out directly. Overall, RUN by ADP has performed superiorly when compared to other vendors. **What do you dislike about RUN Powered by ADP?** I feel like the AI needs a bit of work as when I have asked it questions in the past, it does not always understand what I am asking. **What problems is RUN Powered by ADP solving and how is that benefiting you?** Most recently one problem we had dealt with an additional tax jurisdiction that was set up in error during our implementation. An ADP rep reached out to me and helped me resolve the issue quickly. I thought having payroll and PTO tracking in one place with accounting would simplify things for me as the business owner. BOY WAS I WRONG. Run Powered by ADP services are 24 hours a day. The other payroll service's customer service ends at 8pm EST. I'm often doing payroll or other HR things late into the evening or very early in the morning and trying to work around the inconvenient time schedule of other service was insane difficult. With ADP I can have questions answered any time of the day. I am not shuffled between different people with different skill sets and waiting on hold for next expert to help me. One call to ADP and one customer service representative answers all my questions, helps me correct any errors, teaches me how to prevent mistakes from happening in the future and educates me on the process I have questions about. Switching back to ADP was a seamless process as well. Where as switching from ADP to the other payroll service was complicated, lengthy and confusing. Run Powered by ADP's new feature of allowing my staff to request PTO is very helpful to keep track of the PTO they have use and have left to use. The ADP time tracking option via mobile app is super easy to use and convenient. There is not one thing I do not like about ADP. If asked I will recommend ADP every single time. **What do you dislike about RUN Powered by ADP?** NOTHING. ADP services are extraordinary and of the highest quality in the payroll, HR market. **What problems is RUN Powered by ADP solving and how is that benefiting you?** Off-cycle payroll. Two types of payroll within my office (bi-weekly and semimonthly), time tracking for clocking-in errors by staff or missed punches by staff, log-in problems, paper checks. ### 10.
