I love that Amplitude Analytics is a super powerful tool that picks up a huge amount of data and constructs it into easy-to-understand dashboards. I appreciate being able to look at what features specific customers are using or not using, and get a general picture as a whole of how our tool is being used. Amplitude Analytics is fairly dense and we needed developer assistance to get started. We also had some struggles with attributing account-based analytics vs user-based analytics. Amplitude stands out for its depth and the strength of its interlinking features. I can track usage not only by volume but also by time spent, and then connect this data to specific events, which helps me gain a broader understanding of user behavior.

Amplitude presents a somewhat steeper learning curve compared to other platforms I have used, mainly because of its extensive range of features. It takes a bit more time to become familiar with everything it offers.

Additionally, I find the customization options for both charts and dashboards to be limited. In my experience with Looker, I was able to create dashboards with greater flexibility and freedom, such as adding pre-defined filters. I love how Amplitude Analytics allows us to slice and dice data from days to months, giving us the ability to see user interactions on a day-to-day basis. The capability to get really granular into the data is something that really helps us. Being able to check granular details such as when users might drop off or when they are most engaged helps us understand the psyche of our users. It enables us to correlate user interactions with specific times or days, which is tremendously beneficial for tailoring our strategies. This granularity in detailing helps us identify where customers might face challenges, providing critical insights into their journey. I think there is a bit of a learning curve with Amplitude Analytics. It's not a very self-explanatory platform. Every time I've needed to use it, I've had to rely on either a project manager or my manager to help me understand the data or user behavior. Amplitude Analytics offers a wide range of charts, from basic to advanced, that address nearly all the needs you might have for product analytics. In addition, it provides effective data management tools like data alerts—which I find extremely useful—and data governance features that become especially valuable as your product grows in size and complexity. What truly stands out for me, though, is Amplitude’s customer support. Their team consistently provides thoughtful, well-reasoned responses and quickly grasps the issues I’m facing. Amplitude Analytics' pricing model is determined by data volume, meaning that the more events you track, the higher the cost. This structure discourages teams from tracking additional events, even though product teams generally want to collect as much data as possible. In our organization, this has become a significant obstacle. We have often had to implement feature flags to control which events are tracked, allowing us to disable certain events if the volume becomes too high. I believe pricing should be based on the number of users instead, so organizations can freely instrument events without constantly worrying about escalating Amplitude costs. Apart from providing lot of handy features like live event tracking, session replays and conversions, I think amplitude is very easy to use and integrate with products in general. Our dev team faced little to no issues in the implementation of amplitude with our existing products. I find the segmentation funnel charts incredibly useful, as they resolve many of my analysis questions. The event streaming feature offers real-time insights into user actions. I find it challenging that Amplitude does not provide much help in comparing data across different time periods. When analyzing the same funnel over two different periods, it can be difficult to understand why conversion rates might be high on one day and low on another. Amplitude doesn’t effectively clarify the distinctions in user behavior between these periods, which requires me to delve deeply into the data myself. I love the number of charts that Amplitude Analytics offers to use. Being able to see conversion and segmentation charts by unique events allows me to quickly reach a conclusion. With the charts, I can understand if my paid media actions are yielding results in terms of visits and also if my SEO strategies make sense.
