What do you like best?

This company used to be very reliable but in the last several months that's changed. There are lots of delivery issues caused by their software and support tickets are not replied to in a timely manner. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

The reliability of the sendgrid service has gone way down in the last several months. Most recently they had an issue with their connector to Google that started randomly dropping hundreds of messages. They then flagged the e-mail addresses as invalid so they couldn't' be sent to again. There was no way to clear this through their UI so we were just stuck. It wouldn't be as much of a problem if they responded to support requests, but alas, they don't do that very well either...

They have outages with their systems almost weekly.

We pay a lot of money to send almost 1 Million message a month, and we'd be better off just sending through our own mail servers. The core business of an E-Mail delivery service is to deliver mail reliably, and they can't seem to be able to do that.

We'll be moving to a new service even though it's going to cost us a lot in development hours. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

It's a powerful platform that powers email infrastructure for our app notifications and other key functionality. In theory it could help us move more quickly by editing email templates instead of manually coding notifications. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Maybe worst support I've ever experienced in a SaaS company. They changed the way they share data with us - by the way Sendgrid, it's OUR DATA! How can you tell clients using your system that we can't see opens/clicks for certain emails when that's exactly what we pay you for! We've literally reached out telling them we'd pay for support and nobody responds. Sendgrid must have hired their support team and structured their org around the DMV. We are miserable and the only reason we haven't left is bc we have to work through other key projects first. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Every feature on the SendGrid Platform is available via REST API. This makes you integrate the solution with your own system and make sense out of parameter from SendGrid such as Open, Clicks, etc Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

It is free and the setup was easy. Purchased through the Azure marketplace. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The service doesn't work. Customer service is completely non existent. We used this service for transactional emails. Sending of account confirmations and receipts from our website. With a reputation of 99%, our emails were continuously getting blocked with sending IP being blacklisted by Spamhaus and others. The shared IP pool we were in must have had numerous spam accounts. We were unable to get out of the shared pool. This has happened numerous times. After 4 days and a dozen tickets, I still can't get in touch with someone to purchase a dedicated IP to remedy the problem. Moving to another provider. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Twilio SendGrid Email API is for sending transactional emails like password reset, payment related and order related. So whenever our users place an order on our web application an email is sent to the user regarding the order and delivery information. We can easily create dynamic templates using handlebar templating language and push the data through Sendgrid API and our data is automatically rendered on the template. Email sent through SendGrid API is delivered instantly to our users and we have never faced any delivery issue with Sendgrid API. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

There are few limitations on API that are 600 requests/minute which means a maximum of 10 requests can be accepted in a single second which can be a disadvantage sometimes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Sendgrid marketing offers a large number of tools capable of satisfying the needs of each user, who wants to improve their work in great proportion being able to perform their work hand in hand with this innovative system which provides unique support and training that remains in constant evolution and implements the development of any company that uses this program, generating rates of progressive improvement of their operations, increasing productivity and positioning in the IT standards. What do you dislike?

The most notorious flaw contained in sendgrid is expressed in the following way, its means of compression and file detection to be later uploaded to the system through its publication, presents errors when performing this action, where sometimes something is uploaded to the platform and then automatically deleted, thus causing great dissatisfaction by users, who observe this flaw and have to perform the action again in order to fulfill their task. What do you like best?

Their stats page. It was very informative and gave various insights. Their support was very responsive and they actually accept that the fault is from their side and compensate it even from their end. The panel is easy to set up and they guide you with everything if you're new to email marketing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Their IP pool, really annoying to deal with it and they push you to buy their dedicated IP which costs way more because it is included in a plan. For a price tag, they actually throw on you this is unacceptable. When requested to change your IP for better deliverablty they refused it saying it is automated. I've proved their IP is blacklisted and yet they refuse to change their IP and try to push a product when the solution should've been given automatically considering you're paying 100$+ a month. It has a huge price tag. If you're a small business and totally dependent on email marketing go for it. But you will have to work hard to keep the reputation up since you will have to work on your dedicated IP address. You're basically paying huge bucks for them while they do nothing since you're going to build IP reputation along with a domain reputation (If it's a fresh domain). What do you like best?

It is good design your templates by gui and sending it by clients with customizable parameters. Also tracking the mail state is very good analyze business impact of the mail. The API is easy to implement and the data export and reporting are clear and useful. The help documentation is weak. The monitoring to protect your IP and Domain Reputation is non-existent so you better make sure you eliminate any exploits possible to your endpoints that access your sendgrid account. Sendgrid does not have the self service monitoring tools to effectively identify and/or stop an attack before the damage to your reputation has been done. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Wanted reliable transactional emails to reach our customers inboxes while making sure our email sending was monitored effectively to protect our IP and Domain reputation.

Sendgrid is providing a similar set of features from other transactional email providers at a premium cost compared to other providers. We get good access to download historical data to use in our own app, and they have a clean, limited functional dashboard.

Where they failed is when we did get exploited when someone hijacked our email script. The exploiter was able to send off more than 400K in emails through our mailscript before any protections kicked in by Sendmail. Our account typically delivers 1000 transactional emails a day, so for any type of reputation protection kick in until 4000 X our daily average went out within 3 hours means they really don't provide any reputation protection. Once they did finally stop queuing the emails, they were unable to remove the emails that had made it through (but not sent yet) to their deferral queue. So we were stuck for the next 72 hours while their servers tried to send spam emails under our account (350k of them) domain. Even though we knew they were bad emails and were already identified. So our IP reputation went from a perfect 100% to 20% over 4 days. Now most of our emails go to junk and we have to start with a brand new IP and rebuild our reputation over the next 6 months.

Sendgrid told us it was our responsibility to monitor traffic and that they had notification tools (which we had implemented but didn't notify us of the unusual traffic until it was too late - very limited notification like "you've reached 50% of your monthly quota". Pretty useless when this notification gets sent at 2am on a Sunday).

In short, they do not have the capabilities nor consider it their responsibility to protect your IP or Domain reputation.

1. They do not stop a send attack until your reputation has been damaged beyond rehabilitation (pausing sending emails at 10X our daily average to wait for our approval would have stopped this issue immediately).

2. They have no way to stop emails in their deferral queue even though they have been identified as fraudulent (we watched at these known emails took our rep down from 55% to 20% even though we knew they needed to be deleted).

3. They do not see this as their responsibility.

Almost all other transactional mail service providers have the ability to add in hard caps to daily email limits and much quicker technical triggers to catch unusual sending activity (most would have caught it before 10000 emails were sent from our IP, instead of waiting until 400000 were queued and sent). This tool is very well on its way with its integration of different complements that are working today, programming and automation of e-mails, which usually shine on calendar days established for promotions, whether new products, price offer, mainly attracting new viewers who have not had a vision more than light on us with which we can clarify our purpose. The handling of the tool is somewhat complicated, the interface to control the page, finding emails that have been sent previously becomes difficult to have no distinctions of relevance, with mass emails with positive results other negatives within the same tool, to update the trends that have no importance and those that were changed. What do you like best?

For me, the thing I like best is making use of the email address finder and the blacklist. Normally that's where our issues arise, and SendGrid makes it really easy to hunt down the messages and the email addresses I need to ensure proper delivery. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

- It will greatly increase your Email Deliverability.

- Very easy to use and configure. Has a very good User Interface.

- I use it for sending out Email Marketing Campaigns for many restaurateurs and retailers.

- It is very easy to use and has extensive APIs.

Right now I am not using their marketing campaign API to send out email marketing campaigns, instead I use their default email sending API since Marketing campaign API is a very big hassle.

What do you like best?

We slowly scaled up a new service that required a LOT of transactionnal emails to be sent, over the past 5 years. From a few thousands on the first months, we're now at ~700k emails per month.

SendGrid's SMTP service takes all of our transactionnal emails really fast, with no downtime, and manage to send them to the vast majority of our users, with a great API and webhooks to monitor and report back when mail bounces. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

I wish it would be easier to check the state of our IPs, especially see if it got on blacklists, but mostly see what SendGrid is doing when that happens, so we can know if they act to keep their IP off blacklists. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Our favorite feature is the ability to setup a new customer in a minimum period of time, knowing that we don't have to deal ourselves with deriverability, reputation management, etc.

Also important is to track whether the email was successfully delivered, rejected, delayed, marked as spam, etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

It used to be a problem the restriction to create new sub-users. We had several incidents where our customers were waiting to be able to use our program because we reached the amount of sub-users that Sendgrid will allow us to have. It would take from a couple of hours, up to an entire day for us to solve that problem. Our limit is set to a higher value now, so we haven't had that problem in a while. Recommendations to others considering the product:

Sendgrid email is a most if you want to let others send email through you and you don't want to deal with the setup of all the infrastructure needed. Also, you have the peace of mind that, if some of your customers start sending spam, they are not going to affect the operation of some other well behave customers. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We allow our customers to send email to their customers. We don't want that a rogue customer can affect the operation of other customers.

What do you like best?

It's very easy to implement SendGrid. I can send emails in just a few minutes. There's multiple ways to implement it into our Laravel applications (SMTP or the API). We integrated with SMTP - the documentation on setting it up was very straightforward. Took less than 30 minutes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

It's difficult to deal with reporting. The reporting tools have change drastically in the past year and a half. I do like the changes you have made, but the amount of data is reduced to just 3 days and it takes longer to pull the data I need.

Biggest complaint:

Data is only stored for 3 days. I know it costs a lot of money to keep large amounts of data for clients, but I would like to search at least 1-2 weeks of data for a product I pay monthly. Even if it's just basic data (like sends, opens and clicks). I don't necessarily need all of the other data. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

SendGrid is very easy to setup and integrate into your existing servers. I can only speak to its transactional sending abilities, but all of our transactional emails have been sent for years without issue. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
