I like Matomo the most because it has excellent data privacy control, storing data on its own servers rather than placing it with third parties, which ensures strong data security and autonomy. It is feature-rich, capable of detailed analysis of traffic sources, user behavior paths, and can also track conversions, providing comprehensive support for optimizing strategies. Performance is average, with high demands on the server. There is room for improvement in data processing speed, resource usage, and task stability. Report generation takes a long time, high resource consumption causes lag, task stability is poor, and data processing processes hang after activating plugins, with memory leaks in archiving tasks. Initial setup poses a certain barrier for beginners, as server configuration parameters and database operations are difficult to understand. An advantage that I personally consider is that Matomo is an open source tool which can be manipulated. Most ad blockers block the tracking code from matomo. We changed the code and name of matomo so that the ad blockers couldn't block our matomo script. Obviously its not good not to respect the privacy but from a business perspective, its good because sometracking is very critical to some businesses. Graphical user interface shows different data than the database. It uses fingerprinting technology which identifies the user on the basis of a certain parameters including IP, Device etc. It means that if multiple users are visiting a website from the same company, PIWIK automatically identify them as one user and associate the actioms from different users to only one user.
