"User-Friendly and Developer-Friendly BI Tool That’s Easy to Get Started With"
What do you like best about Metabase?

This service is user-friendly for beginners. When I started my career, I used Metabase in the early days, and it didn’t take much time to understand the functionality. Overall, it feels developer-friendly and easy to get started with. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Metabase?

The most important issue for me was the slowdown during report refresh when the Redshift SQL query runs slowly. In other words, performance depends heavily on the Redshift engine specifications and on how well our queries are written. It also doesn’t have an inbuilt engine, and metaase UI hasn’t been updated with new AI features or newer types of charts. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Metabase: Intuitive user-friendliness with small hurdles"
What do you like best about Metabase?

I love the Question feature of Metabase, which allows for the creation of no-code SQL queries that can be easily and intuitively answered even by non-technical users. It's great that you can access joinable fields in Questions without an active join, provided the table documentation is well utilized. This makes it a breeze to create entire dashboards in a short amount of time. I also like the customizability of Metabase, which, while not offering all the possibilities like Tableau, enables 95% of the needed visualizations and makes them sufficiently customizable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Metabase?

A few more visualizations and the output of specific query results in text boxes are only possible through workarounds. Heat maps are completely missing, but they are fundamentally important. Otherwise, I wish for a union feature in Questions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Easy SQL Querying with Seamless Snowflake Integration and Others tools"
What do you like best about Metabase?

It’s easy to write SQL queries and integrates well with databases like Snowflake. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Metabase?

I don’t find the design editor very user-friendly; I prefer working directly with SQL in the query editor for more flexibility and control. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Intuitive and Versatile for Business Analytics"
What do you like best about Metabase?

I like that Metabase is simple and can be used by both users who know how to query and those who don't, thanks to their dashboarding filter. It makes databases extremely easy to understand. I appreciate that the software is lightweight, works on the cloud, and it's very easy to configure reports. The setup is very intuitive and it's very easy to pull data and fetch databases, as well as configure the visibility of each database. So yeah, I'd say it's amazing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Metabase?

The visualization and dashboards could be better. I think the type of charts available could be better. Second is I think they don't have an integrated AI yet. So maybe an inbuilt AI to write queries would be good. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Lightweight BI Tool That Delivers Fast Results"
What do you like best about Metabase?

Metabase is easy to use and simple to implement, with strong core features that make data exploration quick. It helps teams get insights fast without heavy setup or complexity. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Metabase?

Integration can be challenging, customer support feels limited, and I don’t use it frequently due to these gaps. It also struggles with advanced requirements, reducing its usefulness for deeper, scaled analytics. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Simple Yet Powerful Open-Source BI Tool for Fast Data Exploration"
What do you like best about Metabase?

Metabase stands out for its simplicity and quick setup. As a data analyst, I appreciated how fast I could connect it to our PostgreSQL and MySQL databases without needing any complex configuration. The no-code query builder is excellent for non-technical users to explore data, create charts, and build dashboards without writing SQL.

It supports custom SQL queries when needed and provides automatic visualizations, which makes dashboard building incredibly efficient. The scheduling and sharing capabilities (via email and Slack) are a huge plus for recurring reports. And being open-source, it’s cost-effective for small teams or startups with limited budgets. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Metabase?

Metabase, while user-friendly, lacks some of the more advanced features found in enterprise BI tools like Tableau or Power BI. For example, it doesn't support very complex calculated fields or row-level security without workarounds.

Additionally, performance tends to degrade when dealing with very large datasets or high query volumes. Customizing visuals is also somewhat limited—you don’t get the same depth of control over chart formatting. Lastly, the documentation and community support could be more robust for solving advanced use cases. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Empowering Enterprise Users with Easy-to-Use and Open-Source Analytics"
What do you like best about Metabase?

Especially for non-technical users, Metabase is notable for its ease of use and simplicity. Users may construct dashboards and queries without knowing SQL thanks to the user-friendly interface. A major benefit is the open-source paradigm, and the setup is simple, particularly for PostgreSQL, MySQL, and Snowflake. It is also quite convenient to be able to share dashboards and automate email reports. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Metabase?

Working with bigger teams might be difficult due to the absence of fine-grained access constraints. If you don't optimize at the database level, performance may suffer while searching massive datasets. Although the visuals are good, they may seem constrained in comparison to programs like Looker or Tableau. Additionally, unless you purchase the more expensive edition, audit logs and copying tools are rather poor. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
