"Trainual Review"
What do you like best about Trainual?

Trainual is very user-friendly and offers a platform that allows multiple authors to submit content and be responsible for the updates. The customer support is the best in the industry. At a time when most companies hide behind chat, Trainual is happy to be up close and personal with prompt email responses and availability right at your fingertips with a quick calendar meeting request. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Trainual?

I inherited the platform from the prior L&D manager. It would have been helpful to have an opportunity to participate in an onboarding/introduction to the platform, a tips and tricks session. I found that it was more difficult than expected to organize the content in a way that is searchable and digestible. Yes, there is content online, but walking through an example of an actual account would be awesome. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Ben Lofrumento of Trainual

Hey, Heather!

Woo-hoo! We are pumped to hear you find Trainual so user-friendly as that is precisely what we strive for. Our customer support team is the BEST, we are so lucky to have them!

We totally get your situation with inheriting the platform. That would be a challenge for anyone in your position. It may be worth going through a live product tour (linked below). This will give you the walkthrough you are looking for!

It’s awesome to hear how Trainual is helping you keep all your documentation in one spot. Making it easy to assign content for new hires really does make onboarding a breeze, right?

If you have additional questions, please reach out! We want to make Trainual as seamless as possible - thank you for sharing your thoughts!

"Effortless Playbook Creation and Robust Platform."
What do you like best about Trainual?

I joined Banks Industrial Group in May 2025, and one of my first goals was to create a comprehensive sales playbook. Trainual has made this process organized and straightforward to manage right from the start.

So far, we have developed four main modules: Proposition: Products & Markets, Find It: Sales Process, Win It: Sales Process, and Deliver It: Best Practices & Handoffs. Collectively, these modules contain over 70 hours of structured, field-ready content.

What I appreciate most is how simple it is to design, edit, and rearrange pages. As the person responsible for building the playbook, I can work quickly and make improvements without struggling with the platform. As a user, I also value how everything is brought together: links, embedded videos, and supporting tools, all in one clean, accessible location. Our sales team has already begun using the first published chapter and finds it helpful to have all the information and resources consolidated in one place. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Trainual?

As an administrator, I would appreciate improved visibility for comments. It would be much more convenient to see when feedback is left and to be able to access those comments directly, rather than having to search through each document individually. With more than 70 hours of content, it’s all too easy for comments or notes to go unnoticed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Rachel Astori of Trainual

Now that’s a playbook glow-up! From scattered docs to 70+ hours of structured, field-ready content? That’s the kind of operational win we love to see. Huge kudos to you and your team for putting it into action 💥

And great call on the comment visibility — feedback shouldn't feel like a scavenger hunt. We're always working on ways to surface comments more clearly, so nothing gets missed.

Thanks for making Trainual your go-to playbook platform. We’re cheering you on every step of the way!

"User-Friendly Platform That Makes Training Easy"
What do you like best about Trainual?

Trainual is an incredibly user-friendly platform that makes creating, organizing, and sharing company processes and training materials simple and efficient. The interface is clean and intuitive, allowing even non-technical team members to easily navigate and find what they need. Setting up new training modules is quick, and the customization options make it easy to tailor the experience to our company’s specific needs.

What really stands out, though, is the quality of Trainual’s tech support and customer service. Their team is responsive, knowledgeable, and genuinely helpful. Whenever we’ve had questions or needed assistance, they’ve provided quick and thorough solutions, often going above and beyond to ensure everything works smoothly. It’s clear that Trainual values their customers and takes pride in delivering an exceptional experience. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Trainual?

One thing I wish Trainual offered is a more detailed report on the actual time employees spend completing each training module. While the platform tracks completion and progress effectively, it doesn’t provide insights into how much time users actually spend going through the material. Having access to that data would be extremely valuable for managers and administrators—it would help us understand engagement levels, identify which sections might be too long or too short, and measure overall training efficiency more accurately. Adding this feature would make Trainual’s reporting capabilities even stronger and provide a more complete picture of employee learning activity Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Rachel Astori of Trainual

Thanks for the love — and the feedback ❤️

We’re blushing over here! Hearing that Trainual makes your training easy, efficient, and intuitive is exactly why we do what we do. And your shoutout to our support team? Chef’s kiss. They're real ones.

Totally hear you on wanting deeper reporting on training time. Great callout, and a feature that we're actively working on. We’re all about helping teams improve how they work, so we love ideas that help everyone learn smarter, not just faster.

Thanks for being part of the Trainual journey. Let’s keep building better playbooks together!

"Feature Packed and Easy to Use"
What do you like best about Trainual?

The platform is highly conifgurable - and yet retains simplicity. It never becomes burdensome to configure. Especially in a smaller company like ours where training uploads and config are routed through one person - iit's hugely valuable having a system that is quick and easy to configure. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Trainual?

The report module is a little sparse. Often we require slightly more detailed reporting metrics for auditors than the reports that are available - and this means we need to employ some workarounds in order to get the required info. The lack of read-only API's is also something that could be considered for future development. Power users - especially QA - want read-only API's to be able to extract training metrics in realtime. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Rachel Astori of Trainual

Thanks for your thoughtful feedback! We’re so glad Trainual’s flexibility and ease of setup have been valuable for your team. We also appreciate your suggestions around reporting and API access. Those are great ideas, and our product team is actively exploring ways to expand reporting options and integrations in the future. Your input helps us keep improving and we are so grateful to have you as part of the community!

"Effortless SOP Management and Training Assignment"
What do you like best about Trainual?

I like the fact that you can add SOPs to each group and role if you like. Then you can assign the trainings to the individuals assigned. If you delegate the role to a new individual, the training is reset and assigned to the new person. I LOVE IT! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Trainual?

I was a bit confused in Trainual University because I was going through courses submitted through the implementation process but didn't know that they were separate from Trainual University. The links sent through the Implementation emails had me learning a bit out of order. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Rachel Astori of Trainual

We love this — thank you for sharing! It’s awesome to hear how Trainual’s helping your team organize SOPs, assign trainings, and make role transitions smoother. Sorry for the confusion with Trainual University during onboarding — that’s great feedback, and we’ll keep looking for ways to make the learning flow clearer. So glad the Delegation Planner has been a game-changer for you!

"Challenging Setup, Minimal Benefit Yet"
What do you like best about Trainual?

I find the ease of creating modules in Trainual quite straightforward, which stands out as one of its best features. This capability makes it convenient to develop training modules, representing an aspect of the system that I appreciate. Despite being user-friendly, it does require some time to fully get accustomed to, yet its straightforward nature is a positive attribute. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Trainual?

I find setting up Trainual to be challenging due to a lack of guidance on how to fill out necessary forms and effectively map responsibilities and groups. We've had to devise our own system to compensate for this gap. Additionally, while Trainual is supposed to help with SOPs and passing down institutional knowledge, it hasn't delivered tangible benefits yet, aside from indicating to employees that we are attempting to implement training processes. The process of integrating content into Trainual has been cumbersome, requiring numerous webinars and substantial preparatory work, which has been quite time-consuming. The email notifications that group owners and managers receive are excessive and appear irrelevant, yet there seems to be no straightforward way to disable them, which has been irritating. Furthermore, the configuration involving overlapping groups and setting up cross-team interactions has proven to be difficult, adding to our frustration. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Rachel Astori of Trainual

Thank you for sharing your honest feedback — and for highlighting the ease of module creation as a bright spot in your Trainual experience so far. We know the setup process can feel overwhelming, especially when you're trying to build structure from scratch and customize it for your team. It’s clear you’ve put in a ton of effort, and we truly appreciate your commitment to building something great.

That said, we hear you loud and clear on the frustrations — from mapping responsibilities and managing notifications to the time it’s taken to see real returns. Our team would love the chance to connect and help streamline things for you. We are actively working on notification management and auditing all notifications, stay tuned for some exciting updates! In the meantime - if there is anything we can do to help our support team is always here for you. Thanks so much for sticking with us.

"Essential for Streamlined Onboarding and Culture Building"
What do you like best about Trainual?

I really appreciate Trainual for how it effectively supports the onboarding process by helping our team address the cultural aspects and familiarizing new hires with our organization. I am especially fond of its ability to convey the higher-level workings and common tasks of various departments. I also like how Trainual notionally conceptualized SOP design for culture, which helps preserve company culture and convey it clearly to new employees. This aspect of Trainual empowers employees with a clear understanding of our goals, core values, and opportunities for development, making a positive impact from day one. I find the incorporation of Loom and YouTube videos within training sessions extremely helpful, as well as the AI components that assist in drafting training plans. The availability of pre-templated manuals and guides is a significant asset, facilitating alignment with our company values. Trainual allows me, as a founder, to store and share important information seamlessly, ensuring every team member is onboard without personally overseeing this information transmission. Overall, Trainual gets our team excited about their roles and aligns them with our company's vision effectively. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Trainual?

I find it difficult to navigate or bookmark shorter SOPs in Trainual, which is an issue we're discussing with the Trainual team. This challenge leads us to retain many SOPs in a second software platform, limiting our ability to fully leverage Trainual's capabilities. I feel a bit stuck due to this, as it prevents us from getting the full value out of Trainual. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Rachel Astori of Trainual

Thank you so much for this thoughtful review! We’re thrilled to hear how Trainual is helping you streamline onboarding, align your team to your vision, and keep company culture front and center — all while saving you time as a founder. Love that you’re using AI, embedded videos, and pre-built templates to bring your training to life!

Also, huge thanks for the feedback on navigating shorter SOPs. You’re spot on — and it’s something our team is researching. We want Trainual to be the go-to spot for all your how-tos, big or small. Stay tuned for some exciting updates coming your way! 🚀

"Trainual Develop and Grow"
What do you like best about Trainual?

Ease of the Trainual platform. We have programmed the Horizon Field Guide which provides electronic training to all Team Members. We recently upgraded our subscription and added the premium courses Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Trainual?

The ability to add an expiration date to a premium course (ie: heat exposure we assigned for the months of July and August, but unable to set 8/31 as the expiration date). This results in manually adding specific training courses as use of the groups will not allow this training to end. The second challenge is the ability to delete the training that is auto assigned to me as the administrator assigning the training. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Rachel Astori of Trainual

Thank you for sharing your experience! We’re happy to hear Trainual is making it easier to deliver training through your Horizon Field Guide and premium courses. We also appreciate your detailed feedback on course expiration dates and admin assignments—these insights are incredibly helpful as we continue improving the platform.

"Efficient Onboarding with Some Limited Feature and Minor Cost Concerns"
What do you like best about Trainual?

I love Trainual's capacity to automate and streamline the onboarding and training process, which allows me to save valuable time that I can spend on other business operations, such as billable work or process improvement within my law firm. I appreciate the organizational chart feature, which provides a clear image of company roles and responsibilities, facilitating a better understanding among staff members. Additionally, I enjoy the ability to separate training categories and assign them to specific employee groups, ensuring that each receives relevant, tailored information rather than unnecessary content. This efficient training delivery is beneficial as it assures me that all staff receive uniform, professional-quality training in a self-directed manner. The integration features are excellent, especially with Gusto, which automatically grants Trainual access upon payroll setup, creating a seamless, interconnected workflow. I value the support and generosity of the onboarding team throughout the years, which has aided in setting up new staff efficiently. The fact that Trainual removes the need for personal oversight during initial training periods, thus freeing up significant time in my schedule, is highly appreciated. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Trainual?

{"I find the product not inexpensive and have been considering other products to replace it, particularly with built-in features similar to knowledge bases in other software I use.","The main issue with Trainual is its lack of its own screen recording and screen capture training mechanism, which is surprising given the cost. This shortcoming forces me to use third-party software like loom.com, which has become expensive, costing $1,200 per year for just five seats.","I encounter an inconvenience with Trainual's absence of a search capability akin to a knowledge base. The inability to perform Boolean or keyword searches complicates finding specific information, especially when categories are misorganized or incomplete.","The process of creating visually appealing and professional quality training content is cumbersome as it requires using external software like Canva. Despite Canva being known as user-friendly, I find it too advanced and costly at $30 per month per user.","The need for a feature that allows easy creation and publication of training slides with animations and voiceovers without external tools is apparent. As a lawyer, designing visually captivating slides without a skill in creativity is challenging."} Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Rachel Astori of Trainual

Thank you for such a thoughtful review! We’re so glad Trainual has helped simplify onboarding and free up time for what really matters in your firm. We appreciate the honest feedback around pricing, search, and content creation tools — those insights are super valuable as we keep improving. Our goal is to make building and delivering great training as easy (and enjoyable) as possible. Thanks for being part of the Trainual community!

"Game Changer for our Business"
What do you like best about Trainual?

It is a well thought out spiderweb of information, connecting responsibilities and duties to how to do them, organized in a way that is useful, managed well and easy to find. The management of the processes, with scheduled reviews, content feedback feature and ownership makes it easy for us to get our information into the system and implement quickly with our staff. The support of Trainual has been excellent and their reply timeline is quick and efficient. We are looking forward to making Trainual a regular part of our daily business model. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Trainual?

There are features that I wish we had, but when we submit them to Trainual, I'm assured that they are heard and "on the list". I really have no issues with the software or the support. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Rachel Astori of Trainual

This is such a thoughtful review, thank you! We’re so glad Trainual is helping you centralize your processes, eliminate outdated info, and make training more accessible for your team. It’s great to hear our support team has been able to help quickly, and we appreciate you sharing feature ideas. We’re always working to make the platform even better.
