What do you like best?

Payscale data provides peace of mind that salary setting is being done the right way, is data driven, reliable, and no one is making educated guesses about salary ranges. It also keeps pay equity in mind, has amazing features to help with managing comp and new features coming soon are already making me excited for the next release. Also, today I received a call from Courtney Hastrich who was terrific to work with. I also had excellent service from Sam Gunning in sales. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

The interface isn't as intuitive as previously used versions. The Mercer survey integration doesn't work smoothly. The reports aren't crisp and professional when benchmarking which causes me to have to do a lot of cutting and pasting into emails to share the recommended ranges once I've benchmarked (but they are when working on uploaded employee data). The initial service I received a year ago was sorely lacking - but obviously there have been some amazing changes since then because service levels have improved (if Courtney and Sam aren't outliers - they set the bar high and I hope future calls go this well). Before I was handed all over the company to answer a question - and everyone's emails were mostly missing signature blocks so they would just sign their name and I had no idea who I was speaking to in relation to department. I have high hopes that the service level will now match the value the tool brings. That will be a perfect scenario. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

PayScale offers a variety of surveys that are essential in receiving the best comp data for our organization. The sourced data helps us create the best job detail pages to present to upper management. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

One of our dislikes is the functionality of reviewing your companies data in the system when uploaded. Once your jobs/employees are imported, you are to go and review each position - which is necessary and makes sense. We have a large employee population that makes it very time consuming to do that. Upper management lacking confidence in the PayScale data to help them with some finance positions, specifically. We are working with our Client Success Manager closely on this, and plan to bring on additional sources of compensation data under the direction of management team who would like more data. We were excited to learn that our current contract allows us to load up to 3 additional surveys into PayScale Insight Lab, which helps us keep everything in one place. What do you like best?

It is providing complete solution of compensation which helps in developing bold strategies and leveraging data based on fresh skills. Its survey management feature helps in blending multiple sources of data which includes standard surveys of industries it has a visual and simple friendly interface for ensuring accurate prices of jobs. Its job collaboration feature helps managers in knowing the jobs of their teams in the best ways. It is providing ranges of salaries on the basis of industry and location. What do you dislike?

It may be unable to filter an accurate collection of data sometimes. Its initial setup is time-consuming. More titles and data for niche industries should be added in it. What do you like best?

I love that there are TONS of analytics in this product. Those of us who aren't "geeks" really need a product that is visual to better understand the analytics, and PayScale provides that! Also, every single member of the PayScale team that I've spoken to have been VERY patient with me, and are the ultimate professionals. What do you dislike?

The implementation process took longer than expected, mostly due to my schedule. It can be frustrating to match jobs, if you are in a unique industry. It takes some patience and time to speak with one of the comp experts about the industry, so that you can properly match the JDs. What do you like best?

The volume of data and the data visualization is fantastic. Being able to auto-generate a total rewards report for each employee is so helpful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

The most challenging part of Payscale is the intital data uploads. That said, their reps will help you every step of the way. How could you expect the software to analyze your comp without getting all the employee data?! So, though its a bit of homework initially, the software is truly without equal in its capabilities. What do you like best?

It is very nice to be able to see comparable pay in the market, region, industry, etc. I like that we can "build" jobs based on experience, education, etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

We are a small company so it can be difficult to find exact "comparables" due to be in a region with a lot of large companies. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

There is a fair amount of upkeep to make the system as easy as possible. I believe they integrate with payroll software but ours in not compatible. We have found that running a custom report allows us to mass update information and it works well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

We are establishing pay equity between people doing the same functions. We are also able to build scales based on criteria used to hire. It allows up to offer pay more strategically. What do you like best?

The customer service is awesome. They are incredibly responsive and always willing to find an answer, not just pieces of one. I've had two account managers since the launch of Payscale and each of them have been great. Responses are usually within the same day I send an email and both of them were more than willing to get on a call to discuss any more complex issues I might have had. The reporting tool is also wonderful. While we don't use it nearly enough, it is extremely powerful and easy to use. Our hope is to use this in our next round of compensation pay structure clean up. What do you dislike?

Nothing really. The tool is easy to use and the people who manage it are great. Can't say enough good things. The only issue we had was with the original data load. When the original files were loaded, they had terminated employees in them and jobs that no longer existed. Once the issue was realized, the PayScale group worked to get the issue corrected, but instead of replacing the old data with the new, it looks like they mapped the new data on top of it. Not a huge issue, but did make looking at some of the data a little difficult. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Make sure you evaluate other products alongside PayScale. This will really show you the kind of value you are getting with this software. The user interface is clean and easy to navigate and the updating of data isn't that difficult. Also inquire about their customer support. It's hard to decide if it's the invaluable data or great people that is the best thing about PayScale. We rely on them for every comp situation we encounter - from determining comp for a new job or promotion to comp communications, to helping craft our entire comp strategy. What do you like best?

We market price all our jobs and use PayScale's MarketPay product which gives us the ability to monitor a job's value in the market quickly using a number of different compensation surveys. In addition, the survey submission functionality streamlines the time it takes us to prepared the submission file. Service has been good with quick response times on issue and questions. What do you dislike?

We have been with PayScale's MarketPay for over 5+ years and I haven't found anything that I "dislike." PayScale if very open to listening to input from their customers and their customer service has been excellent when I have had any issues. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

PayScale's MarketPay product is an easy tool for market pricing your jobs and for compiling you survey submission data. MarketPay is easy to use, reporting is good and the customer service has been excellent. PayScale also is great at listening to the needs/concerns of its users. We participate in up to 18 different salary surveys each year with a compensation staff of one. PayScale's MarketPay allows us to quickly price our jobs as well as efficiently compile the survey data submission files for our surveys. Manually creating the file with our survey matches and the associated data would take days to create but now I can create my work file in an hour or two and add any missing data as needed. What do you like best?

The robust options and functionality of the reports makes it easier and faster to use than just relying on Excel and it keeps everything within the platform itself until I need to export the data. Our organization is currently going through a compensation redesign and PayScale has helped us with their reports based on our data, the market data from jobs we have matched and to model various structures. The reports allow us to look at different potential issues like compression, over the maximum, under the minimum and other important items - all with just a few clicks. What do you dislike?

At this time, I have not found anything that I am unhappy with. I have not utilized all of the features but at this time, there is nothing to dislike. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

So far we have been able to utilize the system to run analysis on below minimum or over maximum faster than having to do calculations in Excel as well as being able to model a new salary structure with just a click of the button or by changing a few variables. I like that the platform is easy to use. I also like that I can create additional profiles to use for some of our other business units where there is a pay disparity based on location. What do you like best?
