"Easy Voiceovers That Expand Learning Modalities for More Learners"
What do you like best about Synthesia?

The voice overs and the ease of which we can add another layer of modality for our learners. Utilizing just text and basic video does not solve for all learner types. By having a quick and easy way to add VO, our end product is that much better and more importantly solves for a larger audience. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Synthesia?

The avatars feel too close to real without being real enough. The consistent feedback I get is that they come across as “creepy,” and the mouth movements don’t always match up well. That said, it does seem to be improving with each iteration.

Using this for Japanese, which is one of our primary needs, has been very difficult at best and requires a significant amount of rework. Beyond those issues, the other major challenge is cost. It seems to increase much faster than the ROI. We would definitely use more of what you offer, but for a company our size, and with a limited budget for our department, we can’t leverage the full product.

Right now I’m on a single-user version and end up doing all of the content creation that requires synthesia. This slows us down a lot and doesn’t allow the rest of the team to be fully utilized in content creation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Highly Useful for Clinic and Online Teaching Work"
What do you like best about Synthesia?

I work as a Dietician & Nutritionist and also manage a homeopathy clinic, where I guide patients on different diet routines based on their condition. Each health issue needs a specific diet plan, and Synthesia helps me create clear videos to explain these routines in a simple way.

For patients, these videos make it easier to understand daily food habits, timings, and basic instructions without confusion. At the same time, when I teach students online, Synthesia helps me explain diet concepts clearly without needing a camera or complex setup. I can prepare short educational videos and use them during sessions or share them later for revision.

The platform is easy to use and quick to set up. I use it regularly for education and awareness content. The features are enough for my work needs, and it fits smoothly into my workflow. Overall, it saves time, reduces repetition, and helps me deliver clear and professional diet education both for patients and students. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Synthesia?

I don’t have many dislikes about Synthesia, as it works well for my daily needs. Sometimes, for very specific topics, I need to adjust the script a little more to make it match my exact teaching style. Also, since I focus mainly on simple and short education videos, I do not use all features regularly. Apart from these small things, it fits well into my workflow and does not create any major issues in my work. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Professional Videos Without a Camera Needed"
What do you like best about Synthesia?

Synthesia really changed the way I make safety training for TSATA. Now I can put out sharp, professional videos without stepping in front of a camera or spending a fortune on gear and studio time.

For a global consultancy juggling different time zones and industries, that kind of efficiency is a game-changer. Something that used to eat up days with back-and-forth, filming, and endless edits now wraps up in just a few hours.

And honestly, the consistency is huge. Every single training module looks just as polished as the last, no matter when or where I make it. If safety regulations shift or I need to tweak investigation procedures, I just jump in and update the content. No reshoots, no chasing down production teams—just quick fixes and I’m done.

The multi-language feature stands out, too. My clients are spread across the globe, and now I can deliver the same quality training everywhere. It doesn’t matter if they’re in the Middle East, the UK, or Asia—they all get the same standard of safety education.

But what really matters to me is that I get to focus on what I know best: building meaningful safety content from four decades in the field. I don’t have to sweat the technical stuff—production, lighting, how I look on camera. Synthesia takes care of all that, so I can zero in on getting the safety science and investigation methods right. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Synthesia?

Synthesia’s biggest drawback? The avatars still don’t feel fully human. Sure, they’re getting better, but there’s something a little off—something robotic that you just can’t ignore. And when you’re delivering safety training, especially on life-or-death topics like fatal incident prevention, that artificial vibe gets in the way. People pick up on it. The urgency, the real concern, the way someone’s voice changes when they talk about workplace fatalities—AI just doesn’t nail that. You lose the subtlety, the weight of the message, the feeling that someone genuinely cares.

When I’m walking through the details of an accident investigation or trying to explain why lockout/tagout matters, I can feel the gap. Real safety professionals bring their own experiences and a gravity that just doesn’t come through with an AI presenter. The technology isn’t there yet. It’s missing that lived-in authority—the sense that you’ve been there, seen it, and you know what’s at stake.

There’s another thing: the credit system. It’s rigid. If you don’t use all your credits in a month, they just disappear. No rollover, no flexibility. That’s tough in consulting, where some months you need a ton of training videos, and other times you’re out in the field or focusing on investigations. One month, I might need 20 videos for a client launch; the next, maybe just a few. Watching unused credits vanish feels like you’re being penalized for the unpredictable pace of real work.

Honestly, if Synthesia let credits carry over—even if they just let you bank two months’ worth—it would make a world of difference. It’d fit so much better with how consultants actually work. Right now, the system just isn’t designed for people whose needs shift from month to month. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Evolved into a Powerful, Polished Video Creator with Realistic AI Avatars"
What do you like best about Synthesia?

What I like best about Synthesia is how much the platform has evolved over time. When I first used it after launch, it mainly offered AI avatars that spoke based on given commands, which itself was impressive at that stage of AI. However, with recent updates, Synthesia has significantly enhanced its video editor, making the entire video creation process more powerful, flexible, and polished. The combination of realistic avatars and a strong built-in editor truly elevates the overall experience. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Synthesia?

What I dislike about Synthesia is its current pricing. In today’s AI marketplace, many tools are offering powerful features at lower costs or even for free during their early stages, making it easier for small creators to experiment and grow. Compared to that, Synthesia’s pricing feels quite high. I believe offering more affordable or flexible starter plans in the beginning would help smaller creators access the platform, generate content, and gradually scale as they grow. "Outstanding Audio Quality and Avatars, Incredibly Easy to Use"
What do you like best about Synthesia?

The audio quality and avatars are some of the best I've seen. The tool is easy to use, especially if kept simple. Meaning, I would recommend not to over complicate the message by adding too many animations and fancy effects. Also, the text to speech is very good. When presenting L&D and How-to videos, it's important to include a little excitement in the audio. To do that with other tools is very hard and time consuming to find just the right voice. Because this is exactly what Synthesia is designed for, all the voices do a really good job at this. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Synthesia?

I'm used to using Premiere Pro as my video editor. For good reason, Synthesia is simpler, but sometimes that also becomes limiting. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Time-Saving Video Creation with Impressive Templates and Interactive Features"
What do you like best about Synthesia?

Being able to create videos with their avatars has saved me countless hours that I would have otherwise spent recording behind the microphone. The templates provided are highly professional and offer a wide range of impressive options. They even motivate me to design some of my own templates and features. I especially appreciate the interactive elements I can add to my videos, such as quizzes and branching scenarios. Editing videos after production is also incredibly straightforward—there’s no need to redo the entire video just because of a change in pricing or delivery. Their help and support at the Enterprise level has been amazing and the help videos and courses are comprehensive. And, perhaps most importantly, I can easily translate my videos into other languages, creating a more accessible experience for my clients. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Synthesia?

It takes some practice to create a personal avatar, and my initial attempts looked quite unrealistic. I am still figuring out how to make an avatar that genuinely resembles me, both in appearance and voice. It would also be helpful to have an option for a deliberately non-realistic avatar, as that could suit certain situations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"A Game-Changer for Inclusive, Engaging Educational Content"
What do you like best about Synthesia?

As an instructional designer for neurodivergent college students, what I love most about Synthesia is how fast, accessible, and inclusive it makes video creation. We use it to create short, engaging introductory videos—or "hooks"—that get students excited about each topic. The diverse, age-relevant avatars are a huge hit with our students. They feel seen and represented, which makes learning more relatable and inviting.

From my perspective, the efficiency is unmatched. I can pair AI-assisted scriptwriting with Synthesia’s tools to control tone, pitch, speed, background music, and more—producing polished videos in record time. It’s an all-in-one solution that saves us from having to coordinate with videographers, voice actors, or studios.

I also love the multilingual support. The ability to generate transcripts and closed captions in multiple languages ensures accessibility for our international students. Synthesia makes it easy to create professional, inclusive, and engaging content without breaking the bank. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Synthesia?

Honestly, there’s very little to dislike. If I had to offer one piece of constructive feedback, it would be that while the avatars are impressively realistic and diverse, there’s always room for more customization and expressive range, especially for conveying more complex emotions or subtle facial cues.

Additionally, some minor platform limitations can arise when trying to match specific gestures or lip-syncing in non-English languages, but those are rare and often easy to work around with thoughtful script adjustments.

Overall, the benefits far outweigh any drawbacks. Synthesia continues to evolve, and I’m confident it will only get better with time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"AI-Powered Video Creation Simplifies Documentation"
What do you like best about Synthesia?

I really appreciate Synthesia for supporting technical documentation in our internal developer portal Backstage. It creates documents in a way that allows people to learn in their preferred style, which is a big improvement over just narrating the documents with audio software. I like how the AI tooling lets me pass a document to it, and it automatically produces a supporting and engaging document. It's also particularly useful for presenting, especially for those who aren't comfortable presenting themselves. The feature to pass loads of technical information from techdocs to form a professional, templated video is something I couldn't find in other tools. The initial setup was very easy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Synthesia?

Having API access on the lower pricing plans would have been nice, to allow me to automate this via our CI pipelines. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"User-Friendly Platform with Great Features, But Limited Access for Smaller Teams"
What do you like best about Synthesia?

I like that the platform is user friendly - It offers a lot of features that offer high quality results for not that much effort. It's easy to figure out without looking a tutorial. I love that I can import videos custom from other sights like Canva. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Synthesia?

I wish that you could download a SCORM files as a creator. My company isn't large enough to qualify for the Enterprise plan, so it's a bit unfair that I pay for the more expensive plan I can get while not being able to use all the features.

I also wish that you could see a selection pane for each scene so I can hide or show one or more objects at a time; I often have to create several layers of visuals for the final product and if I ever have to make adjustment to the bottom layer, I have to move every single shape/text box, then make sure I move them back into place.

Lastly, a lot of the AI voices need pronunciation help. You can fix some of the issues by adding pronunciations or using commas/ellipses, but it difficult to inject excitement and tone into the script. Sometime the exclamation points make the AI voice yell. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Creates Professional Videos with Ease, Needs UI Tweaks"
What do you like best about Synthesia?

I have used Synthesia for enterprise-grade learning enablement and digital content syndication. I love the idea of creating interactive, personalized, and polished videos quickly, including producing the content, visuals, and audio. I value the pronunciation tool the most because it makes tweaking corporate acronyms quick and painless, and the avatar doesn't mind doing another take. My experiences with customer support have been amazing. I also gave it a score of 10 when asked how likely I'd recommend it to others. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Synthesia?

I'd love to see the trim feature be a bit more precise, and the AI-generated footage to be higher quality resolution. The AI-generated footage is pixelated and tough to make large without losing quality. The trim feature works but feels clunky and I'm not confident I'm going to make the cut at just the right mark. Annoying because I was originally in an enterprise account and was stuck under the wrong team and couldn't share as I needed to at the time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
