Incredibly user friendly! I'm converting my eBooks into audio, and I'm able to easily choose character voices, change the names to my characters for easier reference, and bring my books to life.

I had a few questions for my first book, and customer support was quick and helpful.

💸 Pricing Concerns

I found the pricing structure confusing because it's character based. I purchased the Pro plan and thought it would allow me to record two books a month, but turns out it's only one.

🔊 Pronunciation & Language Issues

Sometimes the pronunciations are awkward and inconsistent. I have to listen to each chapter, because the voices don't pronounce the same word the same way. Also, the same voice will pronounce a word differently at different times.

Fine-tuning pronunciation required extra effort, especially for names, idioms, or regional dialects.

🧪 Output Inconsistencies

There are occasional glitches or unnatural phrasing in generated speech, which can waste credits and require rework.

🎭 Limited Sound Effects & Emotional Control

The sound effects feature is still in early stages and lacks depth, and emotional control sometimes needs manual tweaking to match tone across longer scripts.

ElevenLabs has a amazing features, my best being the Text-to-Speech feature, it is the only one I have used, compared to other platforms I have used in time past, this is outstanding, I will give more reviews as i try others.
The interface is very easy to use as well, it is amazing.

**What do you dislike about ElevenLabs?**

TheElevenLabs V3(Alpha) enhancement is good but still need a lot of improvements, I discovered, when ever i choose to enhance my speech for more expression using the "Enhance Alpa" button, in most cases it does not go well, it ends up wasting my credit and I had to redo my work again.
I have instances where the expressions written in square bracket [], ended up being part of the speech instead of being an expression.
Secondly, your prices are very high and probably needs some review.

ElevenLabs have been very effective in the audiobooks, its been very hard to convert books to audio in time past using AI tools to sound very real, but ElevenLabs has really done well in this area.

I have been using ElevenLabs for two to three months for audio generation in my language learning app. Its capability to generate Arabic words, sounds, and sentences is truly remarkable. I found ElevenLabs to be the best out there after considering other vendors, primarily due to its futuristic approach, especially with version three which I find particularly compelling. The documentation is excellent, making setup straightforward. Having just to grab an API key simplifies the process significantly. The cost-effectiveness is a huge plus as well, offering subscription plans starting at just $5, scaling to $22 a month, which is still significantly cheaper compared to hiring voiceover artists. This flexibility in pricing is beneficial for managing costs as it allows for adjustments based on usage. Additionally, I benefit from the text-to-speech voice generation feature, which is integral for my needs.

ElevenLabs is clever and easy to use, the concept is great, and the potential uses for a voice avatar are tremendous. However, it cannot accurately replicate my voice.

It cannot accurately replicate my voice. It either makes me sound very ‘posh’ or Australian. I am a woman from the north west of England. I’m well-versed in creating voice content - podcasts etc - and so it’s frustrating that this just can’t replicate my voice, because I could use it for so much if it could!

Honestly, it isn’t - and I find that incredibly frustrating, because I know that it really ought to be able to. Until I can get a good facsimile of my voice, I can’t use it for the purposes I want to.

Currently, the service does not meet expectations in terms of user-friendly integration support.

While the voice quality is excellent, I'd love to see more fine-tuned control over tone and pacing. Occasionally, the output can sound a bit too polished or neutral, especially for emotionally charged texts. A bit more nuance in emotional range would be great.

**What do you like best about ElevenLabs?**

I really like ElevenLabs for its ease and intuitiveness in setup; even though it's not an easy task, it proved to be quite intuitive with plenty of explanatory material on YouTube, which greatly assisted in the process. The automation provided by ElevenLabs has been extremely beneficial for me, especially in automatically transforming texts into audio that I can easily send to users. Moreover, the Text Speak functionality is the most useful for me, as it allows me to generate the same voice for everything, ensuring that my content maintains a consistent and faithful voice, something I greatly value in my avatars and characters. All of this makes ElevenLabs an incredibly useful tool for me, to the point that I am already a subscriber and intend to continue subscribing. Its utility is such that I feel comfortable recommending ElevenLabs without hesitation, giving it the maximum score of 10.

**What do you dislike about ElevenLabs?**

I don't really like the credit system; I would prefer it to be a subscription and be able to use the credits at will. I feel tied to the credits to be able to scale my business.

**What do you like best about ElevenLabs?**

"The appendix is a small, finger-like pouch attached to the large intestine, located in the lower right abdomen. While its exact function is still somewhat mysterious..."

While that is not directly relevant to 11ElevenLabs, I have discovered an outlier feature that I emailed 11ElevenLabs' support about. It's sensationally useful, but I was told that the feature is not being actively supported or maintained. It is, however, online and usable. With all that in mind, the feature is the main reason I signed up.

**What do you dislike about ElevenLabs?**

What I dislike is the lack of support for that outlier feature, that I mentioned in "What do you like best about ElevenLabs?". It's such a good feature that, with proper testing and backing, it could be made into one of ElevenLabs' main features. It's a virtual certainty, as an earner and useful tool, so it should not only be supported but given a dedicated team to further its capabilities. It is currently neither supported nor maintained.

**What problems is ElevenLabs solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ElevenLabs is not so much solving problems as allowing me to do more with fewer tools and that, alone, increases efficiency. I had a lifetime subscription to another service, but still opened an 11ElevenLabs account to be able to use one small part of it and have since stated using other parts. The only problem is that support has told me that the small part, that was the reason for me signing up, is neither supported nor maintained. That's shocking, as it has the potential to be a major feature!

**What do you like best about ElevenLabs?**

We've been using ElevenLabs to generate narration for short training videos, and it's significantly cut down the time we’d normally spend on recording and editing voiceovers. The AI voices are high quality, with a good range of options, and while we still need to check and tweak the output, it's saved us a lot of time overall. 

Overall, it's a very useful tool with some limitations, but given the price point, it offers good value, particularly if you're looking to speed up content production without relying on human voiceover for every project.

**What do you dislike about ElevenLabs?**

We've noticed inconsistencies, especially with acronyms, which the tool may pronounce differently each time within the same script, and then differently again with each generation of the audio.

The editing workflow does have some drawbacks. You can’t preview or regenerate just a section of the narration, you have to reprocess the whole script, even for small changes. Playback is also a bit clunky, with no clear link between the audio and the text, making it harder to pinpoint edits. The credit system could be clearer too. It mentions minutes, but how usage is calculated in practice isn't immediately obvious.

Using ElevenLabs has significantly reduced the time we'd normally spend on recording and editing voiceovers, and provided consistency for the audio in video creation

What I like most is the versatility of applications for the elevenlabs product. It is not just a regular service offering generated voices and music tracks, but a whole powerful fortress of instruments with various applications. The main focus is, of course, voice generation, but the possibilities for applications are truly vast.

**What do you dislike about ElevenLabs?**

I think everything looks too professional. It might scare off less experienced users on one hand, but on the other hand, it is an offer for rather advanced users.

The price is on the higher side compared to some other options, so you need to keep an eye on usage if your app has lots of conversations.

It doesn’t have built-in speech diarization yet (so, it can’t automatically tell which person is speaking in a conversation, that would be really useful).

I wish they let you choose which models to use for text-to-speech and speech-to-text for their prebuilt conversational AI agents. More control here would help a lot for specialized needs.

I find the website (on Edge on Windows 11) to be buggy. Even this morning, I can't edit my own voice to change the way it is described. No sign of any further information about what those changes were.

I liked that we're better than other competitors. Most other ones didn't provide the output I was looking for in ElevenLabs, which was the closest out of all of them.

While it was the closest among the competitors, it still wasn't perfect in matching the voice of the original clip. I think it took me also longer to fine-tune it than I would have liked.

**What do you like best about ElevenLabs?**

I grew up with my dad being an old school radio disc jockey. He knew tons of other DJs and voice actors who could make his commercials, channel identifications, and more just sound fantastic. Some of them were even as epic as The Movie Announcer Voice Himself, Don LaFontaine. 

ElevenLabs allows me to engage people with voices just like those days, voices with dramatic effect, gravitas, and real weight. I have used ElevenLabs primarily because I can have truly professional voiceovers, scripted and edited and refined by me alone, to tell exactly the story I want.

Extremely easy to navigate the site, find just the right voice, and tweak anything I need to in order to find just the right vocal environment for my needs. ElevenLabs is SO MUCH BETTER than 'having to know a guy'.

**What do you dislike about ElevenLabs?**

SO FAR, the platform is moving so fast, I am a little overwhelmed by everything I can do under my Creator Plan. I used to have primarily a voice studio, and now I have voice changer,voice isolater, sound effects, music, dubbing...

I'm having a hard time keeping up and following the learning curve, but that's probably about 90% my problem, and 10% the way the new additions have caused the site to be re-designed.

So, stupid as it sounds, I am actually saying I dislike the fact that I'm getting an atrociously sweet value for my money, now that I think about it more, because I am slow. If I had a TEAM, I'm sure we'd use every part of our subscription, but since it's just me, I have a LOT of practicing and studying up to do.

**What problems is ElevenLabs solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I create content including videos, narrated monologues and similar for a closed television channel devoted to a 55+ community. There are tons of voices on ElevenLabs platform that work fantastically for content geared towards seniors and retirees, as the vocals have a trustworthy, wise sound to them.

I create 'announcements' featuring the happenings of the day, weather, and similar things, and the Text To Speech tools are second to none, seriously. I came to EL from a much lower quality system and the difference is night and day.

**What do you like best about ElevenLabs?**

I started using ElevenLabs a little over a month ago, and so far it's been an awesome tool. It helps me generate natural sounding, conversational-style audio which I use for podcasts and narrating stories on one of my YouTube channels. And with the v3 model's support for tags, you can make the voice sound, react, or express certain emotions, that is next-level awesome.
On top of these, I no longer have to worry about unused credits from the previous month expiring if I don't exhaust it (which I usually don't) as it now gets rolled-over to the next month.

**What do you dislike about ElevenLabs?**

I couldn't find any helpful guide or SDK for integrating the Conversational AI Agent to my React Native/Expo app. The current "@elevenlabs/react" seems to only work in web (browser-based) apps. Maybe because it relies on "await navigator.mediaDevices.getUserMedia({ audio: true });" to get microphone access, which isn't directly supported in Expo environment. I tried, but couldn't get it to work with "expo-audio".

**What problems is ElevenLabs solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps with generating natural sounding narration for stories on my YouTube channel, Mobile App (in-app voices), and Podcasts. I also use it for speach to text (transcription) purposes. It's quite affordable and saves me a lot of time.
