Keynote Reviews FAQs

What is Keynote, and what problem is it built to solve?

Keynote is used to create and present slide decks for communicating ideas, teaching, and sharing information with clients or colleagues. Users also turn to it for visual materials such as simple animations and diagrams.

What company sizes and industries is Keynote the best fit for?

Keynote’s clearest fit is with small businesses, while mid-market and enterprise teams also use it successfully. Positive experiences span several industries, with recurring use in areas such as marketing, education, and design.

Small businesses: The strongest presence among positively rated users.
Mid-market and enterprise: Both are represented across work, teaching, and client presentation use cases.
Marketing and advertising: Commonly used for client decks, proposals, and branded presentations.
Education and higher education: Used for classroom materials, lectures, and research presentations.
Design and creative work: Used to build visual decks, graphics, and animated content.

What customer support options does Keynote provide, and how do users find the overall support experience?

Keynote support options include email/help desk assistance and a knowledge base. The support experience comes across as satisfactory, though it is not a standout part of the product experience.

What is the experience like for teams switching to Keynote from another tool?

The move to Keynote is often a choice for a simpler presentation workflow, polished designs, and closer alignment with Apple devices. Teams moving from PowerPoint or Google Workspace value the more streamlined interface and design tools, while the change can mean adjusting to a different way of working and checking files carefully when sharing across platforms.

What tools and platforms does Keynote integrate with, and how do these integrations help users get more value from the product?

Keynote can sit within presentation, Apple productivity, and creative-media workflows, helping teams bring materials together and share finished decks.

Presentation and file exchange: Microsoft PowerPoint and Google Slides.
Apple productivity and storage: Pages, Numbers, and iCloud.
Creative and media tools: Adobe Illustrator and iMovie.

These connections help users reuse slide content, bring in visual assets, and move presentations into the tools they already use for storage or media work.

What features or capabilities could make Keynote even more useful?

More choice in presentation design, smoother teamwork, and greater control over detailed edits would make Keynote more useful.

Expand design options: Add more templates, styles, shapes, and visual elements.
Improve collaboration: Make co-editing and sharing more reliable and straightforward across teams.
Offer finer editing controls: Add more flexibility for animations, graphics, charts, and detailed formatting.
Smooth cross-platform file handling: Preserve formatting and effects more consistently when importing or exporting presentations.

- Not so much templates to choose from Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Keynote:

If you buy a new Mac you will get Keynote for free. You can share your presentations and edit this with web version using iCloud. Templates can speed up presentation creation, you don't need to be designer to create professional one. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Keynote solving and how is that benefiting you?

Keynote is a great tool for creating beautiful presentations with strong animations and beautiful templates. We use Keynote to prepare presentations for our clients with results of our work on monthly basis, if we need we can export presentation to PDF and just send to the client, very convinient. It's also a great too to do internal seminars for employees, so everybody can follow presentation using live streaming Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Review of Keynote. With each slide I can better organize and communicate my ideas."

5/5

What do you like best about Keynote?

Keynote has many pre–designed and adaptable styles that give me the freedom to customize each element according to the occasion. Navigating through its interface is fluid even in moments of complex edits; it has transition effects and animations that are easy to apply and I use them to enrich my internal presentations and make them much more dynamic. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Keynote?

More than not finding negative aspects I'm surprised that Keynote maintains consistency in its design and usability over time, it continues to have stable performance even in heavy documents which reinforces my confidence in continuing to use it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Basic and free presentation tool for Mac users"

2/5

What do you like best about Keynote?

I am not a big fan, but the small things I do like are 1) the long list of possible animations (that used to be unique but is currently getting more trivial); 2) the ability to open the proprietary Keynote files that you might still have lying around somewhere; 3) the pricing (free for MacOS users); and 4) the fact that it can automatically animate existing presentations and create movie clips. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Keynote?

Oh yes, Keynote used to be something special, back when it was Keynote vs PowerPoint. But as time went by more and more presentation tools emerged, and PowerPoint got better and better, and Keynote was left behind. The main dislikes are the lack of a web-based version, the boring and unappealing UI, the lack of connectivity outside the Apple ecosystem, and the lack of interesting tools and images. Compared to other presentation systems like Canva, Miro, and even PowerPoint, I find Keynote to be lacking in both strength and valor. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Good, But It Isn’t Great"

3/5

What do you like best about Keynote?

It was already installed on my MacBook so I gave it a whirl. I like how simple it is. I've worked with other presentation software and a lot of them are just too overwhelming. This is pretty easy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Keynote?

When exporting for other programs, it doesn't always play nice. Fonts missing, formatting a mess, and some functions/transitions that are in Keynote don't mirror ones in other programs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Easy to make slides with a nice look"

5/5

What do you like best about Keynote?

Keynote is the perfect PowerPoint alternative; you can quickly make professional-looking slides, and it has features you can control from your Apple Watch when you're presenting Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Keynote?

Some of the functions that Keynote has can be very limited; one of them is the animations, the variety is little, and you have to repeat some; the same happens with the templates. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Keynote?

Honestly, I do not dislike anything, it works, it's easy, and I have access to everything, there is nothing to dislike about it. It is even free to use no subscription needed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Keynote:

I highly recommend the use of Apple Keynote. It works great and is easy to use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Keynote solving and how is that benefiting you?

The problems I am solving is how easy it is to use across multiple devices without any need of file conversion. The benefits are having it readily available when needed anywhere I am. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Can't believe more people don't use Keynote"

5/5

What do you like best about Keynote?

I jumped into Keynote a few years ago and never looked back. I predominantly use its flawless ability to build animated sequences – from simple mini-presentations to fairly complex productions. It offers the ability to paste other Mac app images which is a real time saver. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Keynote?

That it's Mac only and 99% of my clients are PC/Windows based and limited to Powerpoint. I've even showed clients how good it is and frustrated we can't readily share files. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
