What do you like best about Xero?

I like that Xero is so easy to use for my bookkeeping needs. It helps me keep everything tidy and organized, which is great-- I don't have a lot of staff, I sort of have to take care of everything, not just bookkeeping. The app portion is very handy because it lets me manage my invoices on the go, without being tied to my office or store. I can clear payments while waiting to pick up my daughter after school or at night in bed when I can't sleep. I also appreciate how straightforward it is to clear my payments and match them to bills, as it integrates seamlessly with my bank accounts and charges and remembers prior classifications. Plus, it connects almost flawlessly with Square, which is essential for running my business. What do you dislike about Xero?

Occasionally, the feed from Bank of America drops and I have to restart it. It happens maybe once a year, but it's a very easy fix. Xero walks you right through how to reconnect to a bank that is dropped. I'm uncomfortable using AI for my bookkeeping, so I don't love that Xero is pushing some AI help. One of the harder things at my job is when we put a job into Miter we have to wait until the next morning before it will show up in our other system. There is not much I dislike about Netsuite, so far. It has been working great since we got it. Learning it has taken a little bit. When doing the mock cases we were able to go through different screens throughout Miter. Having done them and going back in now has benefited the whole company. This isn’t really a dislike, but I’d like to see more file-sharing programs integrated. Right now, Dropbox is the only option available for clients to upload documents prior to a meeting. The appointment reminders and scheduling tools have also been extremely helpful. Being able to automate these ahead of time has improved consistency and reduced manual follow-up.

It also solves the collaboration gap. Since I work with editors and peer reviewers, the ability to leave comments and track changes in real-time saves hours of back-and-forth emails. I really appreciate how easy it is to navigate Stampli. Its setup provides a very user-friendly experience when reviewing invoices. The information is presented clearly and is straightforward to follow. I also found the initial setup process to be very quick, which was a big plus for me. Navigating the viewing features is simple, and I like that you can download or print documents directly from the review page.

The Dashboards and reports page is another valuable aspect for business use. Having all the information consolidated in one place makes searching for and locating what you need incredibly easy.

I like how I can set up different services and add them to each respective agreement. I like that I can create templates for agreements and reuse them. It's all in one place, making it easier to keep track of the agreed scope of work, billing, and terms of agreement. The income is deposited pretty quickly once billing takes place. a more customizable proposal so that my brand and the particular sections I want are included. It'd be nice to just build a document with my logo and even font. I'd like to have an intro, maybe a section where there are different levels and the client can select what services they want, then pop in with timeline to get started, terms and conditions, etc. Some steps can be a little confusing as far as editing services or editing agreements and ensuring the agreement is signed but then billing can start immediately or at a certain date. What do you like best about Jotform?

One thing I appreciate is that after the issue escalated, Jotform’s product and technical team became directly involved in the process.

The communication became much clearer once I was connected with the Instagram Agent development team. They took the time to explain what happened technically, reviewed my missing automations manually, and helped restore them from backups.

I also appreciated having direct communication with someone from the technical leadership side instead of only receiving generic support replies. That made the process feel much more transparent and solution-oriented

What do you dislike about Jotform?

My main concern is still reliability and automation persistence for business workflows.

The core issue happened because my Instagram session disconnected and some automations became inaccessible afterward. While part of this process appears related to Meta session resets, there was also a Jotform-side technical issue that prevented some automations from being restored automatically.

For users relying on Instagram comment automation for business communication, this creates significant stress because rebuilding workflows manually takes time and affects follower interactions.

I also think the support flow needs improvement. My experience changed after I reached the product and development team directly. Before that, I received inconsistent information from support, which made the situation more confusing.

I believe Jotform would benefit from:

• stronger automation backup reliability

• clearer recovery processes after reconnecting Instagram

• more consistent technical communication between support and product teams

A tool loses much of its value if it is not trustworthy and reliable, because the solution it offers is not sustainable.

What do you like best about Tabs?

What I like best about Tabs is how much it actually simplifies the messy parts of billing that used to take up way too much time. The UI is clean and intuitive, so I can jump in, generate invoices, or adjust billing terms without hunting around. I especially appreciate how flexible it is—handling things like custom pricing or mid-contract changes doesn’t turn into a manual workaround anymore.

The integrations have been a big win too. Everything syncs cleanly with our other systems, which has cut down a lot of the back-and-forth and reconciliation work we used to deal with. It’s also just fast and reliable—I don’t have to worry about delays when running invoices or pulling reports.

What do you dislike about Tabs?

What I dislike about Tabs is less about major flaws and more about the typical friction that comes with implementing a powerful billing system.

On the UI/UX side, while it’s clean overall, there are moments where more advanced workflows (like complex contract configurations or edge-case billing rules) aren’t as intuitive and require a bit of trial and error. There’s definitely a learning curve once you move beyond the basics.

Integrations have been solid, but getting everything mapped correctly during the initial setup took time. Aligning data between systems—especially if your CRM or accounting setup isn’t perfectly structured—can require extra effort and validation upfront.

From a performance standpoint, it’s generally reliable, but large data operations (like bulk updates or historical adjustments) can occasionally feel a bit heavy.

Pricing-wise, like most billing platforms, it’s an investment. The ROI is there, but it becomes clearer over time as you scale and fully utilize the platform. Early on, it can feel like you’re paying for more capability than you immediately need.

Onboarding and support are helpful, but implementation still requires internal alignment.

For AI and intelligence features, while useful, they still feel like they’re evolving. Overall, most of the downsides are tied to the complexity of billing itself rather than Tabs specifically, but it does mean there’s some upfront effort required to get everything running smoothly. What problems is Tabs solving and how is that benefiting you?

Tabs is solving the biggest pain point we had with billing—too many manual processes stitched together across different tools. Before, we were juggling spreadsheets, our CRM, and our accounting system just to get invoices out the door and make sure everything tied correctly. Now it’s all centralized, which has made a huge difference in both speed and accuracy.

For me personally, the biggest benefit is how much time it’s saved during each billing cycle. What used to take hours of double-checking formulas and reconciling data now happens in a much more streamlined way. The UI makes it easy to see exactly what’s going on with each customer, and I don’t have to dig through multiple systems to get answers.

The integrations have also been a big part of that improvement. Data flows more cleanly between systems, so we’re not constantly fixing mismatches or chasing down discrepancies. That alone has reduced a lot of back-and-forth internally.

Performance-wise, it’s reliable enough that I don’t have to think about it—it just works when we need it to, especially during critical billing runs. And from a ROI standpoint, it’s been worth it just based on time savings and fewer errors, which ultimately impacts revenue accuracy.

Support and onboarding helped us get to that point faster than expected, especially on the scheduling side of things. There’s still effort required on our side, but having guidance on how to structure things properly made a difference.

One thing I didn’t expect to rely on as much is the AI layer—it saves us a lot of time. And having our contracts easily accessible is a nice benefit.

What do you dislike about Checkbook?

They were fine for a number of years but things dramatically changed this year. With one day notice they changed their processing timelines from 1 day to 3 days. They then had a series of errors that extended the 3 day fund hold to 6 days. They have done a terrible job of communicating, have been combative, and have turned into an awful partner. They are also, with no notice, instituting burdensome rules that I have not seen from other processors and offering no justification for those rules. My guess is that they had a major fraud incident. Mercury may not be a good fit for founders who do any meaningful work internationally. My account was closed despite the company being a legitimate U.S. LLC with an EIN and a U.S. mailing address. The only unusual factor appeared to be that part of my work involves one international business address.

The closure happened quickly and without any opportunity to resolve the issue. For founders building global companies, that kind of uncertainty without opportunity for manual review makes financial planning extremely difficult.
