What do you like best about Gusto?

I like that Gusto was very automated, sending all the required information to my contractors for them to complete, like their Social Security, which I didn't want to be responsible for handling. What do you dislike about Gusto?

When I used Gusto, my issue was that I clicked the wrong button when initially setting up my account. I needed the service for contractors, but I accidentally selected payroll. They were not able to fix it by removing the one payroll option from my account, so I had to start over and enter all the contractor information again. This was time-consuming as I had over 30 vendors to manage. I just thought they should have had a better fix for that. Also, I ended up getting billed for that one payroll seat which I never used because we only had contractors, not employees. Setting up wasn't the easiest. What do you like best about RUN Powered by ADP?

Run by ADP has made my job as the employer, so much easier. I have my employees clock in and out on the TIME section of RUN. ADP then factors the hours for me, I need to click some buttons, and then it submits the payroll. The money is then direct deposited into my employees' accounts. It has made it so much easier then trying to do all of the payroll and time keeping on my own. When it comes time to collecting tax info and 1099 info for my employees, ADP makes it easy and it is ready for me to print when needed. When setting up my employees in the system, it was easy, and then just needed to send over to my employees for them to fill out the rest of their info. ADP has been a life saver, and when I did not need to run payroll, I just continued to pay the monthly bill for ADP, to keep my account open. It has been great to work with ADP. What do you dislike about RUN Powered by ADP?

The ONLY thing I do not like about RUN by ADP is that if my employees need help with their account, they cannot contact IT on their own. They need me present, and I have to do it. I have 1099 clients, so I am not always with them as we have different schedules. So when they are having trouble with their account, it would be so much easier, if they could contact IT on their own- especially when the problem has to do, typically, with the fact that they had an old ADP account from another employer, and now ADP is not connecting correctly for them, with their new employer. What do you like best about Connecteam?

I have not used the the total platform for Connecteam to date. Mostly I have used the scheduling part of the program and I have found it easy to use. I can use it with payroll however my co-workers have issues of putting in their time sheets so that is still a work in progress. Shortly I will be assigning tasks that need to be completed to each individual as well. I do like the forms feature where I can put several things into the knowledge base and the employees can look at what has been uploaded as they need to. To date customer support has been great. What do you dislike about Connecteam?

The downside for me is that it has a huge learning curve. With someone who is time limited like myself learning each aspect of the program takes a lot of time. The more I use it the more I remember. What do you like best about Hubstaff?

I like how Hubstaff makes it easy to assign a task or timer to a worker, and setting a time limit is straightforward. As a worker, I find it very easy to track and record time with Hubstaff. I appreciate that it provides options for tracking multiple timers, which is helpful when doing simultaneous work. It's great that workers can switch between projects easily if they're working on multiple tasks, all while Hubstaff continues to monitor them. What do you dislike about Hubstaff?

While Hubstaff works well for most of the time, there are some annoyances. If a project has a daily limit and the project manager is on a different timezone than the worker, it might confuse the worker when the timer resets at midnight in their timezone but not in the project manager's timezone. Another problem is when one project has daily limits and another doesn't, the worker still has to ask a team leader or project manager to reset the limit if they reach a similar time to the daily limit. Sometimes it's difficult to understand where to find things and what is happening in different sections of the platform. ClickUp solves my main problem of organizing tasks, managing project timelines, and coordinating team work in one place. i can easily create tasks, assign them to team members, invite collaborators to projects and set clear timelines and priorities. it also help with documentation, as i can create SOPs and feature specifications directly in ClickUp and link them with related tasks. Another big benefit is issue tracking. i use ClickUp Forms to create a public form that users can submit if they find any issue on our website or app.theses tickets automatically appear for the internal team and can be assigned based on responsibility. ClickUp keeps me updated with email notifications and status updates, allows detailed task descriptions and supports subtasks for better task breakdown. For sprint planning, i create two-week sprint cycles, add task to sprints and after the sprint ends, i can review analytics like completed task, blocked task and overall progress. I'm head of a global nonprofit group that focuses on fashion sustainability, you can’t let anything go to waste. time and resources “are subject to frequent scrutiny, particularly by my funders and board. Monitask gives me the transparency I need and without all the overhead. My team tracks hours against various initiatives such as our “Global Circular Fashion Forum” or the research grant for “Supplier Sustainability Benchmarking.” I can visually see if our scarce resources are being spent against our pillars on dashboard. Receiving reports that are clean and verifiable for grant applications; showing how many hours were spent where, doing what in terms of policy advocacy vs. member workshops those things are imperative for getting future funding. What do you dislike about Monitask?

The platform’s reports are great for internal review, but they’re not built to tell the nuanced stories that populate nonprofit annual reports and donor briefings. I just wished that it had some more templatable export features to be able to weave the time data in with outcomes and create a bit more of a narrative style export so we wouldn't have kept having to go redesign things manually in other types of software after getting through this program. What problems is Monitask solving and how is that benefiting you?

It addresses Some significant challenges for a mission-driven organization: grant compliance and strategic resource alignment.

1. Grant Compliance & Reporting: A lot of our grants, including from "Climate Action Fund," require significant labor allocation reporting. Before Monitask, that was a rear-view-mirror, estimates-based scramble. Now we have a log that cannot be altered. In our last main reporting we realized that 65% of the grant’s budgeted hours were spent conducting direct research and engaging stakeholders; doing this also helped our case for renewal.

2. Strategic Alignment: It is all hands on deck in terms of converging around a small team and a large agenda. Everything was going to plan, but Monitask’s data revealed that we were investing an inordinate amount of time on the administrative aspects of events instead of creating content. This pushed us to realign workflows so that we had more punch. It is data clarity that allows me to drive the company and report back to the Board feeling confident in our progress. What do you like best about Remote?

I work for a Finnish company, but since I’m based in Spain, I was absolutely certain I didn’t want a freelancer position because taxes here are quite complicated. I made sure to ask about this in every interview. When they explained that they use an EOR and I wouldn’t have to handle anything myself, it was ideal. We even receive benefits through the platform, which makes sense since some Finnish benefits aren’t available in Spain. In the end, it really feels like working for a Spanish company. The chatbot is also quite helpful, and whenever I’ve needed to open a support ticket, the issue was resolved quickly.

The only task I had to handle manually was adjusting our bank holidays. On my island, we have regional holidays, which were already set up, but there are also specific island and city bank holidays. I find the search functionality on the app quite frustrating. When I need to quickly look up a specific past issue and see who it was assigned to, there really isn’t an easy way to do it.
