"Efficient Time Logging with Float"
What do you like best about Float.com?

I appreciate how easy and quick it was to set up Float. The ability to log my exact time on tasks is incredibly valuable, as it allows my employer to see my overtime and adjust my workload accordingly. I love that I can swap projects and tasks as I wish—this flexibility lets me manage my schedule effectively and helps teammates when they have too much on their plate. Using Float with Google Chrome on my Mac, I find it works perfectly, which adds to the seamless experience. Plus, considering it for future purchase, especially if I work remotely or start my own company, shows its potential for comprehensive time tracking and accurate task management. "User-Friendly, Visually Organized, But Needs Task Color Coding"
What do you like best about Float.com?

I find Float incredibly user-friendly and visually appealing, which makes it stand out to me. The simplicity of the interface allows me to quickly understand and utilize its features without needing extensive knowledge or time investments. I really appreciate the visual layout where tasks for each day are proportionate to the number of hours available, and I love how quickly I can view my upcoming tasks for the day or week. The feature that flags when task hours exceed the typical workday is particularly helpful, providing immediate visual feedback with a red line to indicate I'm over my scheduled hours. Furthermore, the capability to spread tasks over multiple days is something I find highly useful, allowing me to distribute my workload evenly across a few days. The color-coded aspect of Float also adds to its charm, making task management not only efficient but also engaging. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Float.com?

Sometimes the name of the task is cut off, requiring me to click on the box to view the full details. Additionally, all tasks are currently displayed in one color, and it would be advantageous to have them color-coded by project for better organization. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Effortless Scheduling and Clear Layout Make Float a Winner"
What do you like best about Float.com?

Float makes it really easy to see what projects I’m booked on and what’s coming up. The layout is clear, and I like that I can check my schedule at a glance without digging through emails or spreadsheets. The email notifications are really handy too, especially when plans change last minute. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Float.com?

Sometimes the email notifications can come through a bit delayed, and it’d be nice if there was a mobile app notification option instead of just email. Other than that, it does exactly what I need it to. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Intuitive Platform with Fast Support, but Holiday Requests Need Improvement"
What do you like best about Float.com?

First of all it's a really well designed platform and it looks nice to use. I can easily see my schedule for the week and I don't have to spend any longer than I need to filling out time sheets. It does everything you need it to from a user perspective. Also the customer support is usually very quick. If you're feeling ambitious you can drag events from your calendar (though I haven't done so). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Float.com?

The biggest thing is putting in holiday time. It's quite fiddly to work out how to ask for holiday and see how much I have left. That's the biggest bugbear for me. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Simplified Project Management with Room for Reporting Improvement"
What do you like best about Float.com?

I find Float incredibly easy to use after the initial setup phase, which was a bit challenging initially. Once past that, it became very straightforward to handle. I appreciate how Float has made project tracking much simpler for my team compared to our previous tool. It was difficult to track every project in our previous app, but with Float, it is easier for us to track each project individually. The timeline adjustment feature is particularly useful, allowing me to slide left and right to adjust the timeline of a project. This feature makes it much easier to manage project timelines efficiently. Additionally, I find exporting Excel sheets from Float to amend with our internal system very helpful. This capability makes it a seamless part of our workflow. Overall, my positive experience with Float is reflected in my willingness to purchase it again for our company and the high likelihood that I would recommend it to others, giving it a nine out of ten. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Float.com?

I find the setup process for Float initially challenging, particularly compared to the interface I was previously used to. It's frustrating to not fully understand the project reporting in Float, especially regarding working hours versus overtime. This makes it difficult to discern whether overtime is included in the schedule, which I find quite frustrating. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Intuitive Project Management at a Great Price"
What do you like best about Float.com?

I appreciate Float for its simplicity and intuitiveness, which makes it quite user-friendly, especially during the setup phase compared to other platforms. This ease of use has allowed my team to adapt and tweak our usage as new features become available. I find its visual representation to be one of its stronger points, as it is not overly complicated and perfectly fits our small team's needs. Float significantly simplifies project management and resource allocation by enabling us to easily see which team members are assigned to projects, track time, and monitor budgets efficiently. It has profoundly benefitted us by providing clarity on what tasks are underway and allowing for easy adjustments when plans change. This ability has enhanced our team's productivity and strategic planning, as we can quickly update schedules and identify potential downtimes or when we may need to pivot. Furthermore, I value its cost-effectiveness; it delivers great functionality at a reasonable price point, especially in comparison to more complex and expensive alternatives. The addition of new features continually strengthens Float, making it an ideal platform for managing our animation studio's diverse and evolving project needs. These features not only support the studio founders in making strategic decisions but also grant the entire team visibility into project progress, contributing positively to the likelihood of recommending Float to others. What do you dislike about Float.com?

I think the capabilities for sharing schedules could be greatly improved. Currently, there is little editability around this feature. I would like the ability to change the display format of schedules, like switching to a Gantt chart or a calendar view, depending on the client's preference. Additionally, I would prefer the option to edit and limit the details that clients receive, such as only showing main milestones and phases, rather than all project details. This editability would greatly enhance client communication via Float. The current ability to share a live link to the schedule is great, but some additional features around this would vastly improve its usage. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Smooth Setup, But Lacks Comprehensive Resource Management"
What do you like best about Float.com?

I appreciate the smooth setup of Float, which made the initial process quite straightforward. The platform is particularly useful for organizing and handling staffing within our company, which is a service business. I find it immensely beneficial to have a view where I can see people and assign projects to them, providing a quick glance at who is assigned to each project. This helps me manage staffing efficiently as it's vital for our clients' needs. Despite some challenges with data redundancy, this feature is a key factor for my continued use of Float. It allows me to gauge how many free resources I have available, enhancing decision-making in our operations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Float.com?

I find it difficult to effectively utilize the archiving system in Float. Initially, due to a lack of understanding, numerous projects were set up incorrectly, and now the archive feels more like a disorganized bin rather than a helpful tool. Another issue I face is the inability to accurately reflect the staffing complexities of my team, especially when team members, like product owners and designers, are split across multiple projects. It becomes challenging to represent situations where someone is assigned to two clients, using only 100% of their time but sold for 75% to each client. Additionally, the data recorded feels redundant, affecting my trust in the generated reports and leading me to rely on Google Sheets for accurate tracking. Lastly, I wish there was a feature that better represented the financial realities versus actual time spent, enabling me to access trustworthy reports. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great for Planning and Reporting, But Needs Better Task Management for Retainers"
What do you like best about Float.com?

Ease of use. Like the project planning tool. Logging is easy. Like the reporting function Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Float.com?

Not being able to archive tasks is really annoying - I have year-long retainers with upwards of 300 tasks in by the end and every time I add a new one I have to open up the list and scroll to the bottom (there's definitely a bug with that). I know it's generally built for fixed projects but as an agency we have a lot of retainers so large numbers of tasks are the reality.

When you schedule something against multiple people, you can't move just one person's without moving everyone's. That would be a helpful option.

If you schedule something that is weekly and the person has time off/or there are bank holidays, an option to put those weeks on a different day would be helpful. I can never schedule weekly retainers on a Monday because I then have to manually go and find all the bank holiday weeks and add a day manually. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Effortless Setup and Integration, But Needs Event Flexibility"
What do you like best about Float.com?

I really appreciate how easy Float is to set up. It made a smooth transition for our team when we moved from a more agile to a micromanagement style. The integration with Jira and Outlook is a standout feature for me, as it simplifies resource planning by effortlessly syncing calendars and tasks. This capability helps keep everything organized and easily accessible. The reminders or capacity warnings are incredibly useful for proactively managing workloads across the team. Float's functions have been indispensable in helping us with forward planning and resource management, offering clear visibility into everyone’s capacity. The seamless integration with essential tools like Jira makes Float even more valuable for our workflow. Overall, Float has been beneficial in enhancing our work planning and team organization over the several years we've been using it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Float.com?

I find it challenging to deal with repeating events in Float. When someone doesn't work on a particular day and then decides to move that day, it's difficult to edit a single event and add a new one without disrupting everything. If I move something, it tends to shift everything in flow, and reversing this is hard. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
