Adobe Commerce runs in the cloud, providing scalability and flexibility that on-premises solutions often struggle to match. This makes it easier to respond quickly to changing business needs and handle traffic spikes during peak periods, without the added complexity of managing physical infrastructure.

If you’ve got fewer than 100 products and you don’t have a huge inventory or a complex ecommerce setup, this feels like trying to drive an aircraft carrier across a pond. We were on Rackspace hosting for a few hundred dollars a month and still ran into caching and resource issues on a monthly basis. You’ll end up spending a lot of time either directing others or doing the caching, resource optimization, and cleanup yourself.

High Costs & Complex Maintenance: Adobe Magento Commerce comes with substantial upfront expenses and additional hidden costs. On top of that, frequent updates and ongoing technical maintenance often require expert support to manage properly.

Legacy Tech & Limited Flexibility: Magento still leans on an older, developer-heavy architecture, which can make it harder to adapt quickly. In my experience, this approach struggles to keep up with modern omnichannel needs and emerging IoT demands.

Support & Scalability Challenges: Magento’s support can feel slow, and the platform’s reliance on extensions may create friction as you try to scale. This can hold back growth, particularly when you compare it with more agile, all-in-one platforms like Core dna.

What I like best about Adobe Commerce is its flexibility and scalability. It gives a lot of control over customization, which makes it suitable for complex ecommerce requirements. The integration with other Adobe tools and third party services is also a big plus, especially for managing content and marketing workflows.

1. One of the major things I like about Magento is, we can do the customization easily as per our client requests, that I find difficult in other platforms.
2. Magento has so many extensions/addons available that we can use for our implementations.
3. Magento has different types of product options, with the help of that we can achieve different product configurations and handle store specific inventory.
4. We can implement headless architecture on top of Magento with the help of Magento OOTB APIs.
5. Following are some of the features I like: Order Management, Catalog Management, cart price rule, configurations.

I like that Adobe Commerce (formerly Magento Commerce) is a unified platform that allows us to handle both our B2C and B2B commerce. We've reduced licensing costs and maintain consistency across our agents using the platform. I also find the catalog management feature very helpful, especially because it allows us to create individual customer catalogs from a central catalog. The order management and routing, along with the native integrations with our other Adobe applications, are beneficial. Additionally, the admin interfaces are user-friendly for our agents.

I guess if I had to say which areas need improvement, they do have a new cloud service offering that I think could be a bit better from their out-of-the-box experience, and maybe that could be applied for the older versions as well.

As such, there is no downside if Adobe Commerce. All I can think of is not having dedicated tech support, as one has to go through a learning curve.

I find the headless feature particularly useful as it allows us to use GraphQL to get product details and build our native site to render products on any other frontend technology. In the PaaS version, management of the database needs frequent optimization as opposed to being hands-off. With the size of our catalog and the duplication of the catalog for each dealer, we have to run a database optimization every week, or the database becomes slow. The initial setup took months and had several issues with the integration partner.

The 'Hidden' Complexity of App Builder introduces a new kind of 'technical debt.' It requires a shift from PHP to a Node.js/JavaScript stack, which means hiring new talent or retraining entire teams. Additionally, debugging can be frustrating. Also, the monthly patch cycle creates a maintenance treadmill due to constant QA requirements. The platform feels 'over-engineered' for single-storefronts, leading to navigating around features we don't use. Lastly, the B2B checkout customization remains rigid, and customizing it often requires complex coding.

I love the total flexibility of Adobe Commerce, as it allows me to customize every part of the checkout and product pages to match our brand. The Page Builder is fantastic since it enables our marketing team to update the site without requiring a developer every time. I find the native B2B features incredibly helpful for handling bulk orders. The multi-store management is a huge advantage, making it much easier to run different sites for different countries from one dashboard. The reporting tools are genuinely useful, providing deep insights into sales and customers without the need for extra plugins. These features save us time and money, making the business scalable and allowing us to grow our sales and add new countries without overwhelming the tech side.

The cost is the biggest issue- it's very expensive once you add up licensing and developer fees. Also, the admin panel can be slow and feels a bit outdated. I also find that the cost of ownership can escalate quickly. Between licensing fees, hosting, development, and extensions, the total investment is significantly higher compared to simpler or more modern SaaS eCommerce platforms.

It appears to be very simple to customize the layouts and product pages and one can easily change things without the site being damaged. Discount rules and product recommendations as marketing features are a great idea and they really lead to an increase in conversions.

The platform is very fast and efficient even with thousands of SKUs, which is very important for us. A few payment and shipping integrations are not very easy, but that is what gives a lot of manual work which is saved now. As long as extensions and plugins are allowed, there are almost no limits to what you can imagine so there is no problem with adding new features.

The admin panel makes it easy and clear to manage orders and stock and everything is at the same time. In summary, the platform is like a vessel that is big enough for our business to grow and at the same time, it allows us to keep the operations at a manageable ​‍​‌‍​‍‌​‍​‌‍​‍‌level.

Admin interfaces have lots of features, but new team members can be a little bit overwhelmed with them at the beginning. Managing multiple stores needs some additional work and planning. I've been working with adobe commerce  to power our multi brand online store network, and I've found several things that stand out:- 
1. The level of customization is remarkable, I can tweak almost every part of store front, checkout flows, product attributed and back-office workflows.
2.It scales extremely well for large catalogs, multiple storefronts, and international markets. We moved from 10,000 AKUs to over 250,000 with minimal friction.
3. Integration capabilities are strong. We hooked into our ERP, CRM, marketing automation and custom logistics system.
4. From Digital marketing angle, Adobe commerce gives great SEO control, layout freedom, and ability to build tailored experiences rather than being limited by rigid systems.
5.The ability to run multiple stores under one instance, with different languages, currencies, pricing has been a massive time saver for our operations.
6. Setting it up wasn't plug and play. But once the initial configuration was done managing it became straightforward.
7. Whenever we faced any deployment or integration issues, the customer support guided us clearly.
8. We used adobe commerce every single day, from managing orders and updating inventory to running marketing campaigns and checking analytics.
