Storage was a really important factor for us since we looked at this from a knowledge management perspective. Recordings aren’t just files; they become documentation, so how they’re stored and retrieved should matter a lot while choosing the right platform.

Loom's good for shorter videos. Zoom does local cloud storage automatically and can be uploaded to the cloud, too. I'd say built-in storage is convenient but using my own storage gives me more freedom to store it the way I want

I’ve primarily seen it as a desktop-first tool, but does anyone know if Camtasia has enhanced and added cloud integration features?

I found that Zoom works well for meeting recordings, but it’s not ideal for structured content like tutorials. Vidcast sits somewhere in between, especially for teams already using Google tools.

One angle we didn't initially consider was searchability. Tools with built-in cloud storage are great, but if you can’t easily search or tag recordings later, things get messy fast.
