As a Human Resources employee, I found that Paylocity has simplified my role through multiple different modules. I find that the search tool through HR & Payroll is easy to use when I need to quickly lookup an employee's profile/salary/and direct reports. A feature that I also enjoy is the customization of forms for example in Performance Management. It enabled our organization to edit the forms that adapted to the paper forms that we previously used. The best feature within Performance Management is the filter and the dashboard. I find it very helpful when an employee needs a status update and I am able to quickly find them through the filter feature and see which status it is in and who touched the review last. The Recruiting & Onboarding module is the most actively used in our HR team and has tremendously increased the amount of RECs we receive and have hired more employees through Paylocity. Some of the issues that occur in Paylocity are connectivity issues. The site will freeze up and abruptly have errors when clicking onto a new page. That can be frustrating at times, not only for the HR team but for all employees. The notification system is the biggest pain point within the organization. I will receive emails from employees who complain about the notifications that seem to be broad about what is being asked of them. The notification system in Performance Management does not notify the employee or the reviewer of the next steps, such as when the review has been completed or signed. A feature that I would like to see happen within Performance Management is to allow for multiple reviewers on the review instead of one. Our organization has a couple of departments that require two or more reviewers and it's difficult to manage to reassign the review to each reviewer. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The biggest problem that was solved with Paylocity is through Payroll. Our Accounting & Finance team were previously using Quickbooks. Paylocity allowed these teams to effectively and efficiently send out payroll on time and track reports with ease. Paylocity allows for employees to manually set up their direct deposit, W4, and all other tax-related information at any time. Payroll can then go in and approve the changes and reach out to the employees if there were any issues. Before Paylocity, Payroll would have to send out the paystubs via email, and sometimes those got lost in the email black hole, now employees can view their paystubs at any time, or anywhere and download them when needed. I've been using Bamboo for nearly a year. My company isn't using every single feature that Bamboo offers, but the features that our company uses now are great.
For me, a simple user interface is the most important aspect of any platform and Bamboo delivers that. I was actually out of the office during our internal Bamboo training sessions, but I was able to figure out the platform myself.
We also use Bamboo for new hire onboarding and Bamboo has automated triggers that are delivered in the form of an email to all the process stakeholders. We were previously sending emails manually prior to using this feature, and as you can imagine, things always slipped through the cracks.
Bamboo absolutely nailed basic features like requesting/approving time off, seeing who's out of office and employee work anniversaries. I also like the performance review, hiring, and company directory pieces of this software. Again, easy to use and has all the features you would expect from a world class HRIS. Honestly, at this point I haven't found anything I don't like. I have used Workday and various other HR systems in my career and Bamboo is my favorite. Workday was very a comprehensive platform, but the UI wasn't as intuitive (granted this was 3 years ago and they may have improved this since). There are 3 main areas that we are now accomplishing tasks better and faster since switching from Paycom to Bamboo.
1. Hiring - Communicating with candidates and sharing candidate profiles with hiring managers is seamless.
2. Performance Reviews - Prior to Bamboo, we were delivering performance reviews manually with Word docs and tracking this process in Excel. Bamboo has automated reminders that help a lot!

Whenever my employees go out for a business tour, I have no worries about the expense management and thanks to FreshBooks that has eradicated the need of paper work. Now I have all the receipts in well-organized form. Also while working on a certain project, I have the clear idea about the amount of time invested in certain project; in this way I can manage the budget and do some future planning for the new rates. I've been using Quickbooks for my content marketing business for the past 3 years. It's intuitive, easy to understand, and helps me stay on top of my business income, expenses, and estimated taxes. I really appreciate the fact that it estimates my quarterly tax payments. Saves me a lot of time every quarter. It's very simple to categorize my expenses. And I love the invoicing feature. A couple downsides: the estimated tax payments tend to skew too big every quarter. I appreciate the fact that they are not too small, but I wish they were more accurate. Also wish that the software could give me an estimation for state taxes — I have to do this manually myself. The timesheet app is really great, you can configure and fill your week time in a row, add new rows and add detailed descriptions to each cell, making it really flexible and simple. I love the convenience of managing my paycheck with Paychex Flex. It's as easy as logging into the app/website and downloading paystubs, seeing upcoming pay, managing my contributions to my 401K, opting out of the 401K, etc. I had doubts going in when our company was introduced to it but it has been on my favorite apps because it's really great for managing that information. I also like that the app is secure. I constantly am forced to log back in like about every 2 weeks. It's a small inconvenience that I'll gladly take over having my information hacked or stolen. It has also allows for Face ID on the iPhone but will still make you log in manually ever so often. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I dislike that I have to constantly manually log in. If I'm being honest, this is something of a reach. Manually logging in really isn't that big of a deal because it's a security measure. However, I would recommend they adjust it to maybe once a month instead of every several weeks. If you don't remember your password and the app is forcing a manual log in, you'll have to do a password reset. The thing is they require a complex password with a capital letter, lower case, number, etc. If you're not prone to remembering log in information, it would be best to write it down somewhere otherwise you'll be doing a password reset at least once a month and that can be so annoying. Make sure that if you're seriously considering Paychex Flex that you take a serious consideration of all that Paychex has to offer. Be sure to have your employees sit through trainings and you yourself as management should sit through all trainings. It does take some time to get onboarded with Paychex so be patient. It is well worth it. My employer was notorious for starting with a service and then quitting it and going to another company. I am solving payroll issues and am able to anticipate pay, delayed pay or even see if there will be a discrepancy on my paycheck (including being underpaid). I also able to access paystubs for tax purposes. The app gives me a centralized location for all things regarding my income and helps me to better manage future purchases and fund allocations. The flow from search-to browse-to book is as simple as it sounds. Customer service has been exceptional. I have heard a similar feedback from fellow colleagues who are somewhat of power users of TripActions. The experience is similar on both Web & Mobile which is also rare. If we have to compare times spent to complete trip bookings on this platform, to other similar services, it feels like the required steps are less. This again gives you the feeling of time saved. I cannot identify a dislike in any of the functionality of the platform. There was just one occasion when I couldn't book a specific property, but I believe the issue was not with TripActions, but with other platforms where the data is gathered before being displayed on trip actions. I like that the Certify Expense reports have many different options in the Details column for substantiation of the expense. The employees we have in the company are in many different states, so this helps narrow down which branch location the expense should be coded to and the customers/employees/attendees they were with for the expense. The "Category" column is also very helpful for pulling reports on how much the company has spent in a month or year. The approval tiers for the reports after they are submitted are another plus, as this allows reports to be rejected when they are not accurate enough to supervisors before coming to the Accounting Department to review. Also, receipts are easily attached via sending from email or uploading on Certify Wallet, as this is a simple view when reviewing/analyzing reports. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I do not really like that I cannot edit an expense if an inquiry question has been sent/created. It will only allow me to change it once the employee responds to the inquiry, but most of the time they do not and it may take time. Certify Reports help solve our company's questions of "which branch/location does this get charged/coded?" This is very important to our company since profit sharing is a main benefit for the employees. We need to ensure we code, especially higher-priced items, accurately due to decreasing profit sharing based on Sales/Business Managers' spending. This has benefited our company by being more precise in our coding to branches and accounts on our books, which increase our profit sharing per employee and decreasing the Accounting Department's time and energy each month we review these reports. I have heard of the previous process for coding credit card statements and it was very detailed and difficult to keep all the receipts together physically rather than through an online website. I wanna be honest. The most I try to find negative points within Humanity, the most I like it. I love how user friendly this program is. We recently switched from WorkBook and I don't ever want to look back because of how difficult it was. BigTime is well organized, I LOVE that I can save things or undo things in a simple click.
I'm still new to using it, but I must say one of my favorite things is probably the connection between BigTime and Quickbooks. I work a lot with Quickbooks, and the fact that things are linked and I can simply click "sync" and information transfers between the two means less duplicate entry work for me, and much less margin for error. I don't mind doing the work in any way, but this has already been incredibly helpful already in alleviating more time for the rest of my tasks.
Also, the fact that they have a live chat for customer service is amazing. And when they're not live, they'll answer you via email very quickly. So far I haven't found much I have disliked about the software. I will say that I wish we could customize some of the categories. It will take some time but "Activity" from our previous software means something completely different than "Activity" in BigTime. I love the chat feature that allows you to quickly submit a request to your account team. Any time I have an issue or have a question, I can quickly message my team and they get back to me ASAP. The message feature is much more convenient than having to locate the contact number.
