I like that feature because it helps catch errors early. I also find the customer service responsive and helpful. **What do you dislike about Paycom?** I dislike that there isn't more training in the implementation. I felt like on many areas we were left to either trial and error or contact customer service every time. Simple one-page guides for things like PAFs and Timecards would have been helpful for supervisors. The training videos were not as helpful as expected. We have to click through multiple videos to find something that pertains to what we are looking for. Also, the monthly updates webinar is too long. I do not have 45 minutes or more to set aside. Smaller updates that are topical and less than 10 minutes would be much better. **What problems is Paycom solving and how is that benefiting you?** Our past system we imported timecards from another program to create payroll. Everything connects and flows together within the system, and you can also add integrations as needed. The pricing is reasonable and the support is unmatched. The employees and our HR staff love the paycheck previews/approvals, it's helped save hours of corrections on payroll. The IWant and Ask Here functions are also great communication pieces for employees to utilize for more information. We love that the Paycom team handle Garnishments and notify employees of such garnishments, which means less admin work for us. Another item that is useful is that we get to preview W-'s before end of year approaches, to make sure everything is populating correctly. Honestly, it's a great and robust system with lots of capabilities. **What do you dislike about Paycom?** At times, the Applicant Tracking part of the app isn’t as user-friendly or intuitive to navigate as I’d like. I’ve also found that user profiles can be a bit tricky, especially when I’m trying to confirm that everything is connected properly and that the different sections are communicating with each other. That said, when we reach out for support, they’re usually able to help and get it taken care of. **What problems is Paycom solving and how is that benefiting you?** Paycom is constantly solving time-related issues for us. Streamlining our processes, reminders, tasks, saving us sticky notes and time in the end. The I Want AI feature looked useful when our sales rep demonstrated to us, but in practice it hasn't been able to answer most questions that I ask it or understands the question incorrectly. **What problems is Paycom solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are a non-profit organization on a college campus, and most of our employees are students, including the HR staff, so we have a high level of turnover in the department. Our specialist, Jessica Slingerland, is very knowledgeable, always makes time for us and is quick to respond to our requests. **What do you dislike about Paycom?** I dislike that there are no videos that show you how to do something. When you search in the help section there is so much information but it is always in the form of a PDF. I prefer videos that I can watch and pause as I work through issues. It is also difficult to find what you are exactly needing in the help center. Reporting is also a downside. We aren't able to build reports from different modules into one report. Also, some of the nuisances with effective dates in the future are annoying. I can't place someone into a new position or update a supervisor with a future effective date. Gave our managers more insight into their teams by putting all the data in one spot: need a phone number - it's here. Need to see who is scheduled off - there's a calendar for that. Need to approve time or review punches - click the screen. **What do you dislike about Paycom?** Sometimes the "improvements" are aesthetic as opposed to functional. What once took 2 clicks to get to a screen might now take 3-4 clicks. Our specialist is extremely knowledgeable and responsive. Whenever we are working on a project, she takes the time to research our needs and ensures everything is implemented correctly. There are a ton of reports to choose from which is great, but it can be very time consuming to find the correct report for a specific need and the search is not very helpful. Once the correct report is found, the function is good. Its customer support is top-notch—I can consistently reach a representative within minutes whenever I need assistance. The onboarding process was seamless, and Paycom provided helpful resources for training our employees. The employee experience with the app is somewhat mixed. Most of our staff have no trouble using it, although a few occasionally need assistance. However, those employees generally struggle with technology, so I don’t believe this issue is unique to Paycom. Paycom is not inexpensive, but the quality of the platform and its customer support make it well worth the investment. **What do you dislike about Paycom?** For our medium sized business, the platform has many bells and whistles that we just don't need. It can make navigating the platform a little cumbersome. It’s also easy to find answers using the Help feature. Payroll runs smoother. Open enrollment was easier. **What do you dislike about Paycom?** Some areas in the system are not easy to figure out and need assistance from a Paycom rep. Sometimes I don't hear back from our rep within a reasonable time frame and have to prompt her. They sold us something we thought would be solving a lot of issues and then it caused us more issues. That's on the sales team not a system issue though. In the past with other providers, you didn't know who would pick up the phone, and it would be someone different each time. **What do you dislike about Paycom?** Sometimes the employees have trouble setting up new passwords when the old one expires. It seems like we have a constant flow of employees coming to us needing help with that and also when they change phones they have trouble getting things going on the new phone. **What problems is Paycom solving and how is that benefiting you?** One of my biggest problems before Paycom was having to do the certified payroll by hand and keeping track of it. It has really helped me navigate Paycom especially initially. Then as I became more comfortable, I could navigate to the areas without it. It still helps for simple things and is a great place to redirect employees to. **What do you dislike about Paycom?** I cannot really speak to the downsides as it is the only payroll system I have worked in. It all is very intuitive and easy to use. **What problems is Paycom solving and how is that benefiting you?** The main item Paycom is helping me with is a robust platform with tools to grow into. I would recommend it for a non-profit entity that has >50 employees, particularly with employees that have salaried, hourly and seasonal workers. It is a step up with better reporting capabilities than Paychex Flex. The AI isn't terribly helpful yet, but most AI add-ons don't do much on other software either. **What do you dislike about Paycom?** As an articulated system that can be customized, training isn't terribly helpful, because your screen will be different. Follow along from whoever ran payroll last or view a scribe recording to learn how to use it. Or talk with a great customer support team member. Everything about it feels simple and straightforward. I also found that everything is integrated so smoothly, and it’s very easy to navigate. **What do you dislike about Paycom?** I’ve had very few issues using Paycom, but if I had to point out one, it would be performance. It may be network-related, but there have been a few times when it runs slower than usual. There are a lot of disconnected settings associated with all things that must all be perfect for everything to work properly...that part is not at all casual. That's fine if nothing ever changes, but things always change in life. This includes Beti, the AI assistant, which has become more impressive over time. In addition, the smartphone app allows managers and admin to complete payroll related tasks in a timely manner, without the need to login to the website. The UI is easy to use and makes most tasks easy to accomplish. We very rarely have issues with website performance, which in turn allows personnel to work freely without access related problems. We are integrated with all of our benefits platforms, so from onboarding to payroll, third party integrations is a steamlined process that allows for efficient and accurate work. We have found the support team to be top notch, super helpful, and easily accessible. You can always reach someone by phone, who has some experience with your account. The pricing is at a level that feels accurate for the tools and resources provided, while also being very competitive with other platforms. **What do you dislike about Paycom?** The biggest issues we’ve had over time were related to changes in the support team, especially when some individuals weren’t experienced enough to understand the complexity of our questions and couldn’t provide support in an appropriate manner. When I first started, learning the ins and outs of Paycom was fairly easy, which made the transition into using it day-to-day much smoother. I especially appreciate that it empowers employees to manage more of their own information, which helps reduce administrative workload on the payroll side. The Report Center is a standout feature—it’s easy to pull data and the customization options are very helpful for reporting needs. I also like how simple it is to find employee information, along with the ability to view timestamps and history logs for tracking changes. One of my favorite features is the accrual history available within the timecard. It makes it much easier to explain PTO balances and activity to employees in a clear and transparent way. I am also a fan of the multiple notifications sent when changes are made to direct deposit, as it adds an extra layer of security and awareness. Lindsay Brownridge has also been a strong Paycom representative— I appreciate his prompt responses. Even when the answer isn’t always what we’re hoping for, he consistently follows up and works with us to find solutions that support our payroll needs. **What do you dislike about Paycom?** While Paycom offers strong functionality overall, there are several ongoing issues that impact efficiency in day-to-day payroll operations. One of the biggest challenges is with timecard search functionality. On Mondays—when we process our heaviest non-employee payroll—the search feature frequently does not work at all. This creates major delays, especially with payroll deadlines on Wednesday at noon. Payroll processing itself can also be slow. During submission (particularly Step 4), transactions can take an extended time to load. While I understand the volume of data being processed, delays seem to occur consistently, and our leadership team has experienced similar issues. There are also some newer features that haven’t added much value from my perspective. The AI tools are not something I use and feel more like unnecessary additions rather than practical enhancements to payroll workflows. Certain functionality could benefit from simplification. For example, PAFs for pay increases are helpful, but the retro pay process is complex and not entirely intuitive. It’s difficult to fully trust the accuracy of the retro calculations, which can make it harder to adopt confidently. The Final Payout Dashboard introduces additional challenges: 1. There are limited action options. It would be helpful to have an option indicating that an employee will be paid on the next regular payroll cycle. 2. Actions cannot be undone, which is problematic given how easy it is to make a mistake. 3. The removal of the check preview feature creates extra work, as payroll teams must now wait until transactions open to review final pay details. 4. Additionally, there are inefficiencies when managing multiple payroll groups. Employees paid on a “doc” payroll still populate into the “non-doc” payroll when using the dashboard, resulting in duplicate work and additional manual correction. Timecard corrections that require retro pay also create separate datasets for each employee, which becomes annoying to manage. The inability to rename these datasets further limits organization and usability. Overall, while Paycom has strong capabilities, these issues can create inefficiencies and additional workload in high-volume payroll environments. **What problems is Paycom solving and how is that benefiting you?** Paycom helps us address the complexity that comes with supporting a diverse, multi-location organization like MB2. One of the biggest challenges we face is managing varying payroll structures and unique office needs while still maintaining consistency and compliance. Paycom’s flexibility has been a game-changer for us. The system allows us to build and implement creative payroll solutions that align with how our offices actually operate, rather than forcing a one-size-fits-all approach. This adaptability not only improves efficiency for our team but also ensures we can accurately support our providers and staff in ways that make sense for their specific situations. I couldn't ask for a better transition team than who I have in Sebastian and Colleen. They have kept me on track while being understanding of how tightly packed my schedule has been. Implementations are always scary and I could not be more pleased with my experience. **What do you dislike about Paycom?** I don't have anything that I dislike about the system right now outside of my own learning curve. **What problems is Paycom solving and how is that benefiting you?** Payroll is taking me so much less time, even with learning a new system and completely changing how my employees report their hours to me. It’s incredibly convenient to have everything right at my fingertips, and it has been a real time-saver. After five years of using Paycom, I feel like I’ve reduced the time I spend on personnel functions by about 50%, which has made my day-to-day work much more efficient. **What do you dislike about Paycom?** There’s nothing about the actual product that I dislike. That said, we’ve held off on adding a few features because of the cost, since some options can get fairly expensive when they’re priced per employee, per pay period. **What problems is Paycom solving and how is that benefiting you?** Before we started using Paycom, we had basically given up on performance reviews because they felt meaningless. Supervisors rarely completed them on time, and employees didn’t take them seriously. Paycom is easy to use, and their customer service team is always available to help with questions if needed. **What do you dislike about Paycom?** I find the configuration of salary-based deductibles for health insurance could be improved. On the employee side, it keeps everything organized so employees can easily go into their profile to change or update their information, or look up their pay records. On the employer side, onboarding is very easy to manage and update, and adding new information is straightforward, which makes the overall process much quicker. Doing payroll is also very easy as it automatically calculates their timecards and puts it into payroll making sure we are compliant and hours are calculated correctly. **What do you dislike about Paycom?** You definitely need to work in the Paycom environment for a while to get used to it. However, I don’t think it’s just Paycom—this seems true of any new software or program. **What problems is Paycom solving and how is that benefiting you?** Before implementing Paycom, we struggled with managing payroll, employee information, and HR processes across multiple systems. Manual data entry, scattered employee records, and time-consuming administrative tasks made it difficult to maintain accuracy and quickly access the information we needed. Payroll corrections, compliance tracking, and employee requests often required extra coordination and follow-up. After implementing Paycom, we were able to centralize payroll and HR processes into one system. For managers, we can use the app to quickly adjust timecards for our employees. **What do you dislike about Paycom?** Paycom is more intuitive than other apps I have used, but it would be helpful to have a printable (PDF) handout to share with employees during onboarding versus watching videos.
