"Powerful and simple employee assessment tool"

What do you like best?

Kenexa has been a great tool and partner that has helped with survey design but also with the distribution and analysis of the survey responses. This type of partnership is crucial for an organization of our size (almost 30,000 employees), especially when those employees expect their responses to be confidential. By using a trusted partner like Kenexa to administer the surveys, we can assure our employees that their responses cannot be traced back to them by ANYONE in the organization.

What do you dislike?

Outside of the default reports that are created by Kenexa, there is a data mining tool but it is clunky and is not user friendly. A simple custom report can take minutes to build (from all of the clicking and dragging), and there even limitations of what can be done within the report creator. There is a set number of parameters that cannot be exceeded, which can make the experience frustrating when trying to run more complicated reports. Also certain default reports are only generated in pptx, when it would be more prudent to have them in excel. Form over function.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We have been using this tool now for the past 5 years, coming from a small survey service before. Kenexa, with its fairly responsive team, has helped us grow our employee assessment response rate and capture more of their feedback. We have been able to include the feedback that we have received in our core business plans, as well each department's people plan. It has really helped us keep an org wide pulse on what our employees think of the org, each others, and their managers etc.

"Solid Employee Engagement software for larger-scale companies"

What do you like best?

Kenexa is an established employee engagement solution that benefits from being a part of the IBM ecosystem. While it does have a steeper learning curve than some of the other solutions on the market that I have tried, I found it to also have the most robust features and ability to analyze results. It is also cool that you can analyze responses and data collected with great reporting tools, and can even use IBM's watson to extrapolate results.

What do you dislike?

The user interface could be somewhat cleaner, butI appreciate that IBM allows you to use third-party software in conjunction with their kenexa line if it doesn't meet all of your business requirements. Additionally, it suffers from the dated UX of IBMs other software solutions, so unless you are experienced with IBM software or are tech-savvy, it can have a steep learning curve.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Consider using third-party HR / Employee engagement survey collection software to combine the analysis benefits of kenexa with a less intimidating UI for employees to submit feedback through.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Employee Engagement is a very underrated metric in companies across the globe - low engagement scores for employees translates to a lower likelihood of high customer satisfaction, lower business productivity, and higher employee turnover. Kenexa employee assessments allows you to be able to collect data from employees on a regular cadence and analyze the results into actionable data. This empowered our organization to take action on areas we can improve at the company to boost employee engagement and consequently improve business productivity and customer satisfaction.

"OK but...."

What do you like best?

I like that there is an option to at least extend an assessment to the candidate.

What do you dislike?

Assessments have locked candidate's out, depending on what unit the assessment is for the questions can be misleading but rates exactly the same. Question where or not it is an actually an effective screening tool.

Recommendations to others considering the product

If the types of questions can be re-weighted, it is possible. Also, the questions should vary depending on the type of role and possible level of experience.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Most useful for high volume positions where an additional layer needs to be added to weed out candidates. Discontinued use of this product earlier this year.

"Not functioning "

What do you like best?

Kenexa is a good way to test candidates skill levels

What do you dislike?

Kenexa is not working more often than it is working. It is NOT user friendly and needs to be simplified.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I work in recruiting, so a problem we have solved would be not placing candidates in the right positions. If they lie or alter their knowledge or experience in a field, this is a way to test what they claim.
