Microsoft Power BI is the best visualization tool that I have used so far. It enables the leadership team and senior managers to get the authentic vibe of the operations/business through the dynamic dashboard and graphical representation, which helps make decision-making at large. It's given me a centralized, real-time view of task-wise progress and timelines across in-flight and upcoming projects, which cuts down on manual status-chasing and makes it easier to flag risks or delays early - useful for keeping stakeholders aligned without extra reporting overhead. Something that perplexes me is that the UI seems to treat every member or hire as if they’re an organization leader. For example, I don’t have permission to create reports or search other members, but those options still show up anyway. The UI doesn’t adjust to my role or assume I’m only looking for my own data (since I don’t manage anyone), so it ends up feeling like unnecessary clutter. I’ll click into “Reports” hoping to find what I need, only to realize I can’t customize most of it.

That’s a good segue into another issue: there are some odd gaps in customizability that lead to hunting around in nooks and crannies for basic information.

The #1 culprit for me here is earnings visibility. One thing I’d really like is an easy way to see how much I made per day, and to be able to move that date range around. Right now, I can put how much I made “today” or “this week” on my dashboard, just like I can with hours worked, which is great. But if I want to look at a different week to compare what I worked, I can’t change the range from the dashboard. Timesheets is right there for hours, but earnings are much harder to locate. It shows briefly on the home page, but to find weekly earnings where I can actually change the date range, I have to go into “Reports”—a section I mostly don’t need as an individual with no direct reports. Thankfully there’s a favorites feature, but it still feels like this should be easier to access without having to dig.

My absolute #1 issue (I’m listing it second only because I realize this is probably a feature that helps sell Hubstaff, but I’m still passionate about it) is that I’m not a fan—understatement—of screenshot software or “smart” URL/app-based auto-productivity assessment. To me, it seems like a major PII/privacy/potential HIPAA risk. If, halfway through a work session, Hubstaff captures sensitive information like passwords via screenshot, or I have to quickly reply to an email involving my medical history in the middle of a task, that information is exposed to my managers and potentially to Hubstaff staff. And, there's further risk around that, especially given how quick text is to pull from images: if Hubstaff were hacked while those screenshots are stored on servers, that information could be leaked. From a privacy and legal standpoint, this seems not only unfair but dangerous.

(Additionally, I don’t really have much of an option in my own privacy where Hubstaff is concerned: while I can choose not to work with a client, I have to opt into whatever my clients choose to capture in order to earn money at all. Sometimes that includes signing contracts before they disclose their time tracking and invoicing methods. That's not Hubstaff's fault, but it does mean that the more privacy-aware time tracking methods are -- and the more they highlight what they do to keep individual contributors' data safe -- the more I appreciate them.)

This kind of software also ends up policing what tools people use, especially since it’s used by task-based freelancers who may genuinely need to open websites that look random, entertainment-based, or social as part of their work. That can waste project manager/admin time too, with inflated “low productivity” numbers or alerts that then have to be investigated, or, worse, it can punish workers when those PMs don’t investigate closely.

If there’s a real pattern of low performance, it will show up in other places than which apps someone has open, and there are other tools to evaluate it with that don't bundle with time tracking. I would suggest that it makes more sense to offer these measures after the fact as an option for managers to use selectively—for example, focusing on individuals who show long-term patterns, like excessive idle time, repeated “keep and resume” on idle popups, or who have already been flagged via other KPIs—but not to be turned on across the board as part of onboarding, which forces employees or contractors to accept broad policing measures just to log time. For me, it’s the main way I track my time and communicate to my client how much I’ve worked. So, I suppose, it replaces having to manually track tasks and create invoices, and it saves them from having to bill me. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

There are a few more admin settings that would be nice to be easier. Managing permissions checked and up to date for several integrations and users can be a little tedious. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It provides the business teams with one single cloud platform for finance activities rather than a scatter gun of spreadsheets and other platforms. And from an IT point of view, it's easier to manage user administration and review permissions, and you get greater visibility of how the platform integrates with other applications. I think sometimes there are too many ways to do one thing. It's not necessarily wrong, but even two identical teams might not do the exact same thing in the same manner. ClickUp centralizes documentation and eliminates repetitive questions, making it more efficient than OneNote for team projects. Its powerful dashboards and reporting tools enhance customization and data analysis. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I see lag time when trying to load large lists. For example, list of recent vendors... it takes time for all the options to load, and being web-based if you have a slower connection, it really takes longer than server based.

It’s modern and flows so much better than 300. Paying bills is a breeze, and cutting checks is much easier too—fewer clicks, with a process that finally makes logical sense. The ability to upload an attachment is really helpful because when you search the payable, you can see the backup instantly. I also like that the payable header includes an attractive banner showing how it was paid, when it was paid, and the trace #.

I also like how reconciliations flow. Once you click and “match” an item, you can filter it out so it’s no longer an option. This has saved hours of searching for a single transaction, since you can search by payee, method of payment, or transaction amount.

Reporting was always an issue in Sage 300. Here, you can pretty much create any report you want as long as the dimensions are available. TriNet mostly has a lot of positive aspects, there are certain areas that could use improvement. Specifically, the payroll platform feels slightly outdated and could benefit from a refresh, though it functions quite well overall. Additionally, the expense reporting feature could also use some enhancement. These updates would help streamline processes and potentially improve user experience. We use TriNet to offer better benefits packages, attract high-level employees, manage health and retirement plans at competitive rates, and simplify onboarding and hiring processes. One downside is that troubleshooting can sometimes be difficult when a pipeline fails, as the error messages aren't always detailed enough and you may need to dig through multiple logs to find the root cause. The platform also has a lot of features, so it can take some time for new users to become comfortable with everything. While serverless is convenient, costs can increase if compute usage isn't monitored properly. There’s a bit of a mindset shift in how you approach analysis. Instead of building queries from scratch each time, you rely more on the pre-defined models and structures.

Our biggest challenge was working with large volumes of data without slowing down analysis. Queries used to get expensive and time-consuming, especially when multiple people were exploring data at the same time.

If I had to give one piece of constructive feedback, I'd say that I haven't found a way to clock in and out after being logged in. If I'm logged in and adjusting my timesheet, or submitting a time off request, I have to manually select "Sign Out" in order to go back to the screen where I'm able to clock in and out. I dislike how complicated and non-intuitive it is to create a simple report when I need to drill down to information below the general journal entry level. I once spent hours trying to pull detail for all journal entries that hit a given GL account, but it only returned the lines that hit the GL account—not all the lines from the entire journal entry, which is what I was looking for. I’d like to be able to use AI within NetSuite to create a report with the content and formatting I want, instead of going through the lengthy, cumbersome process of selecting parameters one by one from an unbelievably long dropdown lists & trying to decipher without in-window helps what different versions of the same field name actually represent. NetAsset, combined with NetSuite, is helping us manage our fixed assets. It’s still a work in progress, but it’s been beneficial to link expense transactions to asset items and connect historical purchase information to each asset. I also appreciate being able to save notes and attachments with each fixed asset, which gives us a better handle on what we have and a stronger feeling of stewardship over our resources. There are no major concerns, but a few areas could be improved. Some workflows can take a little time to get used to, reporting and customization options could be more flexible, and certain processes could be made quicker with fewer steps. The standout strengths of HROne are its easy-to-use interface, efficient HR and employee management features, and responsive customer support. The platform makes processes such as attendance, employee records, payroll, and leave management much easier to manage. The pricing model is predatory. Once they have your data in their system they can simply increase the price at any time. They are doing that now by 40% for Quickbooks online plus. They know that customers won't like it but they also know that the cost of migrating all the data is higher than the price increase. I think there are some disconnects here and there. One thing that proves to be a challenge for us is Performance reviews and the manual process we have to take to assign reviews and then go in and manually delete and re-assign as the manager changes or their job changes. Every time I turn around, if I see something that needs refinement, I find that it's on their short list already. Many times we will be introduced to new products and it was something that I was complaining about. It's a full blown solution to that problem. Paylocity is very forward thinking. What I dislike about ClickTime is that entering time can feel repetitive, especially when logging the same hours across multiple days or projects. The interface is functional but somewhat dated, and making adjustments or corrections can require several clicks compared to more modern time-tracking tools.
