One minor thing I dislike about Employment Hero is that the help chatbox sits very close to the action/save button throughout payroll processing, and you can’t move it.

A bigger issue is that Employment Hero will sometimes roll out software enhancements without any notification, which changes the way the system behaves and can affect your processes. It doesn’t necessarily break anything, but you then have to adjust your workflows to suit. Since we implemented Employment Hero, our old manual processes for timesheets and leave applications have been replaced with digital workflows and a clear audit trail. This has made the payroll process much more efficient.

My main complaint is the rigid structure of the PTO policy creation and management. Currently, Homebase limits each employee to only one active PTO policy (and one sick leave policy) at a time. I need the flexibility to create and assign multiple distinct PTO policies to single employees—such as separating standard vacation, personal time, or custom tier-based accruals—without being forced into a single blanket policy. Deel's biggest strength is also the one thing I find challenging. The company grows quickly and ships changes and new features at a fast pace, which is great for the product. If I had to give one piece of constructive feedback, I'd say that I haven't found a way to clock in and out after being logged in. If I'm logged in and adjusting my timesheet, or submitting a time off request, I have to manually select "Sign Out" in order to go back to the screen where I'm able to clock in and out. Given the amount of employees that we have nationwide, it would've been great if the system was able to recognize the different states that the employees were in and that we would be able to assign managers per employees rather than create locations. We have over 20 locations in our system because we have managers that oversee different timezones, one that has every timezone, so he has multiple locations that he has to view. Because the Gusto integration seem to have issues though, we have to manually set-up accounts which is preferred as previously, it would automatically send invitations to personal emails that were in Gusto even when they haven't fully started. The downside also is that employees aren't able to see their time-off request balance and so they often put in requests when they have 0 hours pending for usage. The issue that we had previously was the fact that Gusto wasn't able to provide us with a timekeeping system that supported overnight shift. Deputy had played a huge part in decreasing the amount of time that is spent calculating the hours that each employee who work overnight has. I also really like how the Meal Break Premium is directly connected to the attestation question. I have a few things I dislike about uAttend. First, sometimes the total employee time is off by 0.01—either slightly less or slightly more. It doesn’t have a huge impact, but it’s noticeable.

Another issue is how PTO is set up: if you approve PTO and then cancel it later, it still shows up on the employee’s timecard, so you have to delete it manually.

We’ve explored different providers, but we really can’t find some of the things uAttend offers with other providers. I like that I can simply export the pay period report and it fits perfectly into our payroll and reporting. There’s hardly anything that needs to be edited, which means less work overall. One thing I feel could be improved is the reporting functionality. While Hubstaff provides a lot of useful information, getting the exact data I need can sometimes take a bit more effort than expected.

Hubstaff helps us manage one of the biggest challenges of having a remote team, which is keeping track of working hours and making sure everyone is logging their time correctly.

With team members working across different countries and time zones, it gives us a much clearer picture of who's working, when they're working, and how their time is being spent.

One of the biggest benefits for us is payroll accuracy. We use Hubstaff to verify hours worked, which makes processing payments much easier and helps avoid disputes or confusion around timesheets.
