What is Consensus?

What is Demo Automation? Any demo done right is more of a conversation than a broadcast. You discover what’s most important to your prospect and then conform your demo to those interests. Consensus demo automation involves creating an interactive video experience, where viewers select which topics are most and least important to them. What do you like best?

What do you dislike?

Nothing specific I dislike. I have provided some ideas around additional features/improvements which has been well-received by the Consensus team. As a European customer it is a slight disadvantage that live events are scheduled US Mountain time... :) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Strong Pre Sales resources are scarce, and sometimes spent on less qualified opportunities. Consensus provides us with a solution to help us gauge interest as well as qualify top of the funnel opportunities, and also to support the sales process further down the funnel. It is also a great help in discovering additional stakeholders in the prospect's organisation, get input on what stakeholders are focusing on, and also build buy in across the buyer's circle. What do you like best?

Consensus is a Sales/Marketing enablement platform that allows you to record short, customized product demos that you can send to prospects. The product allows you to tailor the demo experience based on who you are sending it to and what the prospect deems is important. In addition Consensus allows you to track engagement (if your original prospect forwards the video to others and tracks how long each viewing party has watched the video).

Normally without this tool I would be recording a video on Zoom or VidYard where I don't nearly receive as much detail/information about what parts of the video the prospect listened to or what they ranked as being important. I also find this tool from the prospects end is easier shared than a pre recorded zoom or VidYard attachment. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

The Consensus portal isn't very straightforward. It requires a bit of training and familiarity to get the hang of creating videos and demos to send to prospects. There aren't a tremendous amount of in portal guidelines for how long your videos should be. Normally whenever I get confused or need help I end up contacting my account manager instead of the help desk on their website.

I could imagine the platform being more helpful if within the user experience there were examples or a help guide that work with you to determine length of videos or types of videos to create. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

If you're looking for a way to get other stakeholders or members of the buying committee involved in a sales process, this is one way to do that! It lets the AE control what types of material are being sent to the prospect's buying committee instead of giving someone "cart blanche" demo access. In addition the engagement tracking is super valuable as you're able to get insight into what's important to the prospect before speaking with them. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Consensus helps our champions sell our product internally. It is able to identify the prospects' entire buying committee (through sharing the video) and ultimately helps to increase our win rate.

We've seen this be extremely helpful to our AE team who has to navigate multiple buyers throughout the sales process. We're now experimenting with our SDR team who sits at the TOFU. The goal is to give the SDR team short video demos they can send to select prospects who are on the verge of agreeing to a demo, but just need a little more information. What do you like best?

Consensus has fundamentally changed the way we do business for the better. With the ability to send out an interactive demo of our solution after the discovery we have significantly cut down the lag time between a discovery and the first time the client sees the software.

We get full visibility into who watches the demos, how long for and which areas they find the most useful. When these get forwarded to other stakeholders, we see that too. Sales reps love it because they can build up an effective stakeholder map. They also get a real-time notification when a prospect views the content, giving sales reps the perfect window to contact their stakeholders.

Solutions Consultants / Sales Engineers love it too. Because stakeholders have already seen an overview of our solution, when they get to the first live demo they can focus more on deeper discovery, differentiators and specific areas stakeholders would like to see more of. It mitigates the need to ever have to do a 'harbour tour' demo. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

As with any software, there have been a couple of minor bugs along the way. However, the team at Consensus have been very quick to rectify these and they haven't caused any issues with our use of the tool.

There is a fine balance between having enough content and too much. It can become difficult to find what you are looking for from an administrative perspective unless you have a good naming convention. A suggestion for the future would be to have tags for content for better categorisation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Consider your content plan. There is a balance between having video content that is deep enough in detail vs how much work it will take to record and maintain. Also, consider which types of demo video content you will utilise. There is the possibility of using it for far more than just overview demos. For example, follow-ups, frequently asked questions, video voicemails and video to send after a meeting to avoid objections.

I would also suggest keeping video recordings natural. I recently heard from another Consensus customer who was spending upwards of 5 hours writing scripts and recording each short 5-minute video. I would suggest that it can be done far more quickly than this. We have taken the approach that we are just trying to replicate the experience of a live demonstration rather than slick marketing-led video content. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The #1 reason for implementing Consensus was to reduce the number of wasted demos. Demos that were on opportunities that exited the sales cycle (i.e. didn't win nor lose). These were caused by under-qualified opportunities that were in the educational stage or having to repeat demos for new stakeholders. Now, with Consensus, we have significantly reduced the number of unnecessary demos.

Before implementing, there was a tendency for Solutions Consultants to perform 'overview' / 'art of the possible' / harbour tour' demos. Now, we can spend more time on discovery which means Solutions Consultants can add far more value. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

I love how easy it is to create a new demo board for my customers. I also really like how easy the sales insights are to read and understand. It allows me to see my hottest leads/accounts based on engagement scores. You also can see how long a customer viewed your demo and see their remarks on the important features of their interests. What do you dislike?

I dislike that I cannot preview what the Demos showcase before selecting one. I also dislike how I cannot change the demo after selecting - it forces you to completely re-start the form fill. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

I feel that the platform has more features and advantages that I'm using currently. Probably some videos and quick step guides could be great to improve the first uses and the ROI, despite it's very intutitive on some parts. What do you like best?

Consensus has been extremely valuable in our sales process. From SDRs to AEs the tool has added value for each stage. By far the best part of Consensus is being able to give a short and personalized demo to buying groups and not needing to rely on an internal champion's interpretation. What do you like best?

What do you like best?

CONSENSUS delivers video content in a unique and engaging way. After a short intro video, the software allows a viewer to dictate what the they'll see for the rest of the video. This builds anticipation for what is going to come next for the viewer, and also provides us with excellent data. Our salespeople have a clear idea of what the prospect is interested in and what video content they have viewed before reaching out. What do you like best?

The UI is very neat, intuitive and easy to use. The demolytics offer a fantastic transparency on the prospect's interaction with your demo, allowing you to improve the way you position the product.

The support team is absolutely great, I just love working with them - you get all the necessary help you could possibly ask for when adopting a new tool within your organization. I haven't identified something to dislike at the moment, we are very happy with the way the tool works, although there are some features/widgets that can be added further down the road. What do you like best?

The idea of having an interactive video for a prospect to assess a software is great. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

I've run into so many technical issues when trying to get my first demo up and running. On our sales call we were promised that Consensus integrates with HubSpot, when in fact it doesn't - it requires paying for an additional 3rd party integration software. Every time I had an issue it took a long time to get it resolved with support. Also, the demo doesn't give you enough options for customization - while you can pick a color theme, you can't do anything with font, or changing around some other text. Prospects feel more engaged and it is a more targeted message. Rather than sending them a generic video, they can pick what is most important for them to see.
