Web Analytics Software

Typically, Web Analytics is a capability of a variety of other G2 Software categories. See more below to select the

best Web Analytics Software.

Marketers, web developers, and analysts use web analytics to report of the effectiveness and popularity of web experience. Web analytics software is both a synonym for and a subset of digital analytics software. The term "web analytics" is more restrictive than "digital analytics" because the former implies that the to-be-analyzed data captured is restricted to one touchpoint: the web site. Unlike digital analytics, which analyses data from any and every digital channel (email, search engine results, social media, and mobile, just to name a few touch points), web analytics is concerned more with how visitors interact with the actual website. Click throughs, page views, path analysis, frequency of visits are some of the metrics that web analytics are exclusively interested in collecting and analyzing. However, as web analytics and digital analytics are sometimes used interchangeably, visit the "learn" tab on our digital analytics category page for more information.

Google Analytics not only lets you measure sales and conversions, but also gives you fresh insights into how visitors use your site, how they arrived on your site, and how you

“Great Website Traffic Tracking”
What do you like best about Google Analytics?

What I like best about Google Analytics is that it allows us to understand how people arrive on our website and how they interact with our content. We use it to track website traffic, traffic sources, user behavior, page views and conversions.

It is especially useful for understanding which marketing channels are working better, such as organic search, paid campaigns, social media, newsletters or referral traffic. This helps us make more informed decisions instead of relying only on impressions or assumptions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Google Analytics?

The main thing I dislike is that Google Analytics can be complex to interpret, especially after changes in the platform or in the way data is collected and reported. Sometimes metrics or reports seem to change, and it is not always immediately clear why.

It can also take time to configure events, conversions and reports correctly. For non-technical users, some parts of GA4 are less intuitive than expected and require learning or support. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Google Analytics solving and how is that benefiting you?

Google Analytics helps us understand whether our marketing activities are actually bringing qualified traffic to our website. It solves the problem of not knowing where visitors come from, what content they engage with, and which actions they take after arriving on the site.

The main benefit is that we can evaluate our marketing efforts with real data. We can see which campaigns, channels and pages perform better, identify areas to improve, and optimize our website and communication strategy based on user behavior. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

“Very Disappointing Customer Service and Billing Experience”
What do you like best about Semrush?

The app itself may be useful, but it’s very expensive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Semrush?

I signed up for Semrush's free trial to evaluate whether the platform would be suitable for my business. After testing the service, I determined that it was not the right fit for our requirements and budget.

The trial automatically converted into a paid subscription, resulting in a USD 199 charge. Within approximately 30 minutes of the payment being processed, I contacted support, requested a refund, and immediately canceled the subscription. The account was not used for any meaningful activity after the charge other than logging in to cancel the subscription and submit the refund request.

Despite explaining the situation, including the fact that we are a small business and that the service would not be used, Semrush refused to provide a refund. I submitted multiple requests, including a goodwill appeal, and the matter was escalated internally. After review, Semrush confirmed that they would not refund the payment and would not reopen the case.

My disappointment is not that a refund policy exists. It is that there appears to be no flexibility whatsoever, even when a customer requests a refund almost immediately after being charged, cancels the service right away, and receives no meaningful benefit from the paid subscription.

Potential customers should be extremely careful when signing up for a trial. Set multiple reminders and cancel well before the trial expires if you are unsure. Based on my experience, immediate cancellation and an immediate refund request were not sufficient for Semrush to make an exception.

This experience has left me disappointed with both the company's customer service and its approach to handling genuine billing disputes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Semrush solving and how is that benefiting you?

It wasn’t really ideal for our business. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

“All company has now the ability to answer Product Questions”
What do you like best about Amplitude Analytics?

Use MCP to connect Claude and schedule Cowork tasks to monitor the business and resolve customer support issues. You can A/B test your features through experimentation, and the user-level event tracking is especially helpful: you can jump into a specific user and see every event they’re doing, with full details, which is great for QA on events. It’s also easy to start for free with a solid monthly event allowance.

On the analytics side, event segmentation is a fast way to build meaningful charts and answer product questions. You can ask Amplitude AI for insights about your product, use conversion funnels to understand how users convert and track conversion over time, and use Pathfinder to see which events trigger other events. Retention reporting also makes it clear how cohorts are retained over time.

Speed up your analysis with fast charts and dashboards. Anyone in the company will have access to product performance. Clear UI and build together with Amplitude AI Agent. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Amplitude Analytics?

Charts are limited to a 1-year window. If you want to view 2 years of data, you have to create two separate charts. This also makes it hard to properly measure Conversion events over periods longer than a year, which is a limitation when trying to track annual renewals for subscription apps.

The Block events feature is a great tool for limiting event volume, but it would be even better if you could segment it by platform—for example, blocking an event only for Android. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Amplitude Analytics:

Like with every analytics tool do an analysis of what events to track before implementing Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Amplitude Analytics solving and how is that benefiting you?

Anyone in the company can access and answer product questions, especially now with an AI Agent or by using MCP with Claude or ChatGPT.

It also helps you spot technical issues in your app. For example, we discovered our Gmail social login was failing on the first attempt, so users had to try twice, and many dropped off at that step.

You can better understand how users behave, including which features they use and how intensely they use them. We realized some features were not very valuable, while others were, and we experimented with feature visibility to drive more adoption.

It’s also useful for identifying which events drive retention and for finding where users drop off in your onboarding funnel. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

“Essential for Identifying User Friction Points”
What do you like best about Glassbox?

I love that Glassbox doesn't just show me what users do – it finds why they get stuck. The AI struggle detection is like having a sixth sense for friction points. No endless tags. No guessing. Just actionable insight. The AI struggle detection saves me hours of guessing. Instead of watching dozens of session replays, I get a clear alert: 'Users are stuck here.' It's like having a team member who never sleeps, constantly flagging what's broken. That means I fix problems before sponsors complain or ticket sales drop. Valuable? Absolutely. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Glassbox?

I haven't used Glassbox long enough to hit major friction. But if I had to guess: onboarding might feel heavy for non‑technical teams, and session replays could raise privacy concerns without clear filters. Also, for small festivals with tight budgets, the price point might be a barrier. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Glassbox solving and how is that benefiting you?

I love how Glassbox identifies why users get stuck with its AI struggle detection, saving me from guessing. It highlights issues early so I can fix them before they affect sponsor satisfaction or sales. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

“Insightful Tool with Steep Learning Curve”
What do you like best about Pendo?

I use Pendo to check customer satisfaction scores and draw insights from them, which I find quite useful. It's great for seeing the way users engage with our platform easily and helps me analyze how users interact with the product, including the percentage of users accessing certain parts. I also use Pendo as an intercept tool for surveys, which is handy. Additionally, Pendo has really helped with onboarding by directing us to specific bottlenecks and reducing friction. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Pendo?

The support is pretty much lacking. People from Pendo don't seem to know what you're asking them for. Also, there's a steep learning curve. Setting it up was pretty hard, and it took a long time to get it going. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

“PostHog Gives a Complete, Connected View of the Customer Journey”
What do you like best about PostHog?

PostHog is one of the most useful tools for understanding what users actually do inside a product. I really like that analytics, funnels, session recordings, feature flags, experiments, surveys, and dashboards are all connected in one place, rather than being split across several different tools. The session replay feature is especially valuable because it lets us observe real user behavior, spot friction points, and better understand where and why users drop off. It also makes product and marketing decisions much easier, since we can tie user actions to clear data instead of relying on guesswork. Overall, PostHog provides a very complete view of the customer journey and helps teams iterate and improve the product faster. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PostHog?

There is not much I strongly dislike about PostHog, but the main downside is that it can feel a little overwhelming at the beginning because it has many powerful features in one platform. Setting up events, dashboards, funnels, and feature flags properly requires some time and planning, especially for teams that are new to product analytics. Some reports could also be easier for non-technical users to understand without needing help from a developer or data person. Overall, these are not major problems, but improving onboarding, templates, and simpler explanations inside the product would make PostHog even easier to adopt. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is PostHog solving and how is that benefiting you?

PostHog helps us solve the problem of not knowing exactly how users behave after they enter the product. Before using it, it is easy to rely on assumptions, but PostHog gives clear data through product analytics, funnels, dashboards, and session recordings. It helps us understand where users drop off, which features they actually use, and which parts of the experience need improvement. This benefits us by making product decisions faster, improving onboarding, finding bugs or friction points earlier, and measuring the impact of changes more accurately. It also reduces the need to use many separate tools because analytics, feature flags, experiments, and user feedback can all work together in one platform. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

“LogRocket Makes Performance Troubleshooting and Team Collaboration Effortless”
What do you like best about LogRocket?

Using LogRocket makes it easy for me to spot and troubleshoot performance issues. The UI/UX patterns are clear, so it’s simple to see what users are doing and understand where things go wrong. The AI agent also saves me time by reviewing session recordings while I’m working on other parts of my projects. It helps our team communicate better as well, since we can show bug severity more clearly and connect everything through the JIRA integration. I thoroughly enjoy the ability to edit and create dashboards. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about LogRocket?

As a first-time user, I found the onboarding could have been much more specific. A guided tutorial option would likely help close this gap for new users. As it was, I had to schedule extra meetings just to fully understand how the system works. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is LogRocket solving and how is that benefiting you?

It helps fill the gap between user experience and user interface. It gives me data I can share to support my design decisions, and the data visualization is a huge help. “Strong Technical Analysis, Needs Improved Competitor Insights”
What do you like best about Lumar (formerly Deepcrawl)?

I find Lumar's technical analysis report to be really good and quite competitive in the market. It is especially helpful in identifying pages that are linked and unlinked through the crawl, which is great for getting to know any website. This feature was quite beneficial while analyzing a website, especially for our team, which was new to the organization, as it helped us to understand the purpose of each section. Additionally, the initial setup of Lumar was quite easy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Lumar (formerly Deepcrawl)?

We did not receive much in terms of competitor metrics. It mainly targets the technical part of SEO, so I feel the main downside is the lack of competitor data. Overcoming this could make it one of the best tools. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

“User-Friendly Interface, But Billing Needs Improvement”
What do you like best about Lucky Orange?

We started using Lucky Orange about a year ago, and one of the first things that struck me was how approachable the interface is. A lot of analytics tools feel like you need a manual to get anywhere, but our whole team picked this up fast, including people who don't live in marketing dashboards all day. The HubSpot integration was another reason we stuck with it. Keeping that data in one place instead of bouncing between tabs saves a real amount of friction.

Setup was painless too. Inviting people and spinning up dashboards is quick, so it didn't become one of those tools only one person on the team actually knows how to use.

Session recordings are the feature I get the most out of, and it's become something I check almost daily. Being able to watch how someone actually moves through a checkout flow tells me far more than a funnel chart ever did. We caught a broken coupon field on mobile this way that had been quietly killing conversions for weeks, and our analytics never would have flagged it.

The heatmaps are useful too, though I lean on them less. Where they earn their keep is settling internal debates. When someone insists a CTA needs to move above the fold, I can pull up the scroll data and show that 70% of visitors are getting there anyway.

A couple of things worth mentioning for anyone considering it. The live chat add-on surprised me. We turned it on expecting it to be a minor feature and it's now where a decent chunk of our support conversations start. And the dashboard segmenting by traffic source has been handy for spotting that our paid visitors behave completely differently from organic ones.

The performance side has held up well for us too. The tracking script hasn't caused any noticeable slowdown on our pages, which was a real concern before we signed up since we'd been burned by a heavier tool in the past. The newer AI features are a mixed bag so far. The automatic summaries that flag notable sessions save me from scrubbing through hours of recordings, and they're usually pointing me at the right ones. The AI-generated insights are hit or miss, sometimes stating the obvious, but when they surface something I hadn't thought to look for it's a nice time-saver. I'd treat it as a helpful assistant rather than something to fully rely on.

Downsides: on a high-traffic site you'll burn through your recording quota faster than you'd expect, so you end up sampling rather than capturing everything. And the interface can feel cluttered when you first log in. It took me a few weeks to figure out which reports I'd actually use versus the ones I'd open once and forget.

Overall it's earned its spot in our stack. It's not the flashiest tool, but it answers the question "what are people actually doing on the site" better than anything else we've tried. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Lucky Orange?

The one area I'd flag for improvement is how billing tier upgrades are handled. We manage payments through a service that issues virtual credit cards with fixed spending limits tied to each vendor. When we exceeded our contact limit, Lucky Orange automatically upgraded us to the next tier without any advance notice. The higher charge itself was reasonable given the overage, but because it came without warning, it exceeded the predefined limit on our virtual card and the payment failed.

The impact is that a billing change we would have approved instead turned into a declined payment and the scramble that follows, which isn't a great spot to be in for either side. A simple fix would solve it: an email notification before an automatic tier upgrade takes effect, explaining the change and the new amount. That heads-up would let customers adjust card limits or budgets ahead of time and avoid the failed transaction entirely. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Lucky Orange solving and how is that benefiting you?

Before Lucky Orange, our analytics could tell us what was happening but never why. We could see that our mobile checkout had a high drop-off rate, but the numbers didn't explain the cause, so we were left guessing and shipping fixes that didn't move the needle.

Watching real session recordings changed that. The clearest example: we'd been struggling with checkout abandonment for weeks, but once we started watching recordings we found a coupon field that was broken on mobile and silently blocking conversions. Our funnel reports never flagged it because the sessions just looked like ordinary drop-offs. We fixed it within a day of spotting it, and recovered conversions we'd been quietly losing the entire time.

It's also cut down a lot of internal back-and-forth. Debates about page layout or where a CTA should go used to drag on with no way to settle them. Now we pull up heatmap and scroll data and make the call in minutes instead of meetings. The live chat feature has been a bonus on top of that, becoming one of the main places our support conversations now start.

The overall benefit is that we spend far less time guessing. We can watch what people actually do, find the specific thing that's broken or confusing, and fix it, instead of running blind tests and hoping something works. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Delve AI?

I really like how Delve AI takes complex data and turns it into something simple and actionable. The customer personas feel very realistic and help us understand our audience better than just looking at spreadsheets. The competitor insights are also very handy, it’s like having a clear picture of where we stand in the market at any given time. Most importantly, the platform updates automatically, so we’re always working with fresh insights without having to spend hours digging for them. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Delve AI?

There isn’t much to dislike, but if I had to point out something, I would say the amount of insights can feel overwhelming at first. It takes a little time to figure out which reports are the most relevant for day-to-day use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

“The Best Attribution Tool on the Market”
What do you like best about Fospha?

Fospha allows us to accurately measure our true attribution which is singnificanlty better than in-platform. We've been able to considerably scale our TikTok efforts as a result of what we can see inside of Fospha. It's allowed us to scale dramatically across a variety of channels. It also allows us to better measure our campaigns. The saturation curve is an excellent tool and very useful for us. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Fospha?

Nothing really. Some channels have taken a while to onboard but that's to be expected. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Fospha solving and how is that benefiting you?

Fospha gives us true attribution across all of our paid channels - Meta, Snap, TikTok, Affiliates, CRM, SMS etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

“Powerful and User-Friendly Analytics Platform for Product & User Insights”
What do you like best about Mixpanel?

There are many things I like about Mixpanel, what I like best about is its easy-to-understand user behavior analytics and powerful event tracking. It helps me and my teams quickly understand how users interact with products, track customer journeys, analyze retention, and make data-driven decisions without needing complex technical setup. Also I like to mention the customizable dashboards and real-time insights also make reporting much faster and more efficient. Mixpanel performance is fast and reliable especially when it comes to real-time event tracking and reporting. From a pricing/ROI perspective, it provides valuable insights that help improve product decisions and customer retention, making it cost-effective for growing businesses. Also the support and onboarding experience is also smooth, with detailed documentation and helpful tutorials. Additionally, its AI and intelligence features, such as automated insights and predictive analytics, help identify user behavior trends quickly and improve decision-making. Another Good thing about Mixpanel is Mixpanel offers strong integrations with tools like Slack, Google Analytics, HubSpot, and Dropbox, helping teams centralize data efficiently. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Mixpanel?

There are multiple reason that force me and my team to switch from Mixpanel. One downside is that some advanced feature can feel complex for beginners, especially during the initial setup for custom events and funnels. As I mentioned earlier, UI/UX is pretty good and clean but but navigating deeper analytics sections may take time to learn. Also Certain integrations require additional configuration or technical support. Although the pricing point is not bothering us much but in my point of view, the pricing can disturb many beginner startups. Also I like to mention when someone handles large datasets and complex reports, performance also drops and irritates sometime. Additionally, while the AI/intelligence features are useful, they are still limited compared to some enterprise-level analytics platforms. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Mixpanel solving and how is that benefiting you?

Mixpanel helps us understand user behavior and product performance clearly. It allows teams to track customer journeys, monitor engagement, analyze retention, and see where users drop off during the conversion process. This support leads to quicker, data-driven decisions, better marketing strategies, improved user experience, and higher customer retention. Its real-time analytics and reporting save time by cutting down on manual data analysis and making insights easily available across teams. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

“Effortless Dashboarding with Excellent Support”
What do you like best about Swydo?

I like the ease of combining multiple channels and sources into a structured format with Swydo. The ease of creating a good dashboard is better than most of the other dashboarding tools I've used before. It gives me an easy overview of results, which is great for client meetings. The initial setup was very easy, and I received great help from the team. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Swydo?

What I previously was the ability to report ROAS automatically. It was only possible to add this manually. However, I am not sure whether this is currently supported. For now, this is not a priority for my dashboards. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Swydo solving and how is that benefiting you?

I use Swydo to visualize campaign data in an appealing way, combining multiple sources into structured dashboards. It gives me an easy overview of results to use in client meetings. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
