Web Analytics Software

Typically, Web Analytics is a capability of a variety of other G2 Software categories. See more below to select the

best Web Analytics Software.

Marketers, web developers, and analysts use web analytics to report of the effectiveness and popularity of web experience. Web analytics software is both a synonym for and a subset of digital analytics software. The term "web analytics" is more restrictive than "digital analytics" because the former implies that the to-be-analyzed data captured is restricted to one touchpoint: the web site. Unlike digital analytics, which analyses data from any and every digital channel (email, search engine results, social media, and mobile, just to name a few touch points), web analytics is concerned more with how visitors interact with the actual website. Click throughs, page views, path analysis, frequency of visits are some of the metrics that web analytics are exclusively interested in collecting and analyzing. However, as web analytics and digital analytics are sometimes used interchangeably, visit the "learn" tab on our digital analytics category page for more information.

“Deep Insights, Slight Learning Curve”
What do you like best about Google Analytics?

I really like the depth of insight Google Analytics provides into website traffic and user behavior. It helps me understand where visitors are coming from and which pages they spend the most time on. I also appreciate the range of reporting features and the integration with other Google tools, which makes it very useful for analyzing overall performance.

For my retail company, it’s especially important to see which product pages users visit most often and where they spend the most time. That visibility helps me better understand user behavior and tailor ads accordingly, which in turn generates revenue for the company. The initial setup was fairly easy, particularly for basic website tracking, and it was quick to get up and running. Adding the tracking code through Google Tag Manager was also straightforward. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Google Analytics?

One thing that could be improved is the learning curve, especially with newer versions like GA4 where the interface and reports can be confusing. Specific metrics or building custom reports sometimes take extra time. Also, some reports feel less straightforward compared to earlier versions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Google Analytics solving and how is that benefiting you?

Google Analytics solves the challenge of understanding user behavior, traffic sources, and website performance in a data-driven way. It provides clear insights into how users interact with my website or application, which pages perform well, and where users drop off.

This benefits me by enabling better decision-making—whether it's optimizing content, improving user experience, or refining marketing strategies. It also helps track campaign effectiveness and ROI, making it easier to focus on what’s working. Overall, it turns raw data into actionable insights, improving efficiency and business outcomes. “Comprehensive SEO Toolkit with Insightful Features”
What do you like best about Semrush?

What I like most about Semrush is honestly the amount of data it gives you. The keyword tools like Keyword Magic and Keyword Overview are really helpful when you are trying to find question-type searches, long tail stuff, or just gaps in content you can target.

I also use it a lot for competitor research. It makes it pretty easy to see what other sites are doing and how they structure their content to show up in search results. Looking at things like featured snippets, PAA questions, and search intent changes has been really useful for planning content.

The site audit and on-page SEO tools are also solid. They help catch issues pretty quickly and make sure pages are actually ready to rank. Overall it just saves a lot of time compared to trying to piece all this together from different tools. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Semrush?

The biggest downside is probably the price. It is a really powerful tool but it can get expensive, especially for small teams or solo people. Once you start adding more users or projects the cost can go up pretty fast.

Another thing is the learning curve. There are so many features that it can take a while to figure out what you actually need and where everything is. When you first start using it the interface can feel a bit overwhelming tbh.

Once you get used to it though it becomes easier, but the beginning can be a bit confusing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Semrush solving and how is that benefiting you?

Honestly Semrush helps me figure out what people are actually searching for instead of guessing. I use it a lot to find high-intent and question type queries, especially ones related to AEO.

It is also really useful for checking competitors and seeing why their content ranks for certain queries. Sometimes you notice things about how they structure their pages or answer questions that you would not have thought about otherwise. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

“Glassbox:Transforms Digital Insights with Powerful Analytics and Seamless Session Replays”
What do you like best about Glassbox?

What I appreciate most about Glassbox is how it captures every digital interaction in real time, providing a comprehensive and transparent view of user behavior. The visual session replay feature allows me to quickly identify areas where users encounter difficulties. Its analytics are both robust and easy to use, enabling teams to implement data-driven improvements efficiently. In summary, Glassbox speeds up troubleshooting and significantly improves the digital customer experience. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Glassbox?

Glassbox can feel overwhelming at first because of the depth of data it provides. Additionally, the platform can be resource-intensive, leading to occasional performance slowdowns on large datasets. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Glassbox solving and how is that benefiting you?

Glassbox addresses the challenge of truly understanding user behavior throughout digital journeys by offering comprehensive clarity. By capturing every interaction, it uncovers hidden friction points, technical problems, and drop-offs that traditional analytics might overlook. This enables quicker troubleshooting, lessens customer frustration, and enhances conversion rates. “Effortless Analytics with Powerful Session Replays”
What do you like best about PostHog?

I enjoy using PostHog for its analytics and visibility, which allow me to learn usage patterns from my users. The session replay feature is immensely helpful for getting feedback on user journeys through our platform, especially at the initial launch of SmushLabs.ai. PostHog is really clean and easy to use, making installation a breeze even for someone not so technical in marketing tools. The simple script installation through Node and the analytics working effectively, particularly with session replays, stand out to me. PostHog also has great visibility features and allows you to own your data. The session replays give me visibility on possible bugs and errors, and they help me understand the user journey through my landing page. The initial setup was incredibly easy; it was the best I've seen. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PostHog?

Honestly thankfully I am a bit technical but looking it being used by other founders it might get a little complex. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is PostHog solving and how is that benefiting you?

I use PostHog for analytics and visibility, learning usage patterns from my users. The session replays help identify possible bugs and track the user journey. It's easy to install, even for non-technical users, and offers great visibility features. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

“Event-Based Feature Flags Enable Truly Dynamic UI Experiences”
What do you like best about Amplitude Analytics?

I like the feature flag functionality, especially that I can enable flags based on events triggered from my app. However, sometimes it doesn’t work reliably because of the delay between an event being triggered and it being processed. For example, I’m giving my users a dynamic UI based on their inputs, but in the next step—where I’m using my feature flag—the behavior isn’t consistent.

One more thing I don’t like is the masking levels on text fields. Passwords and other sensitive fields being masked is fine, but I’m still able to see basic input fields in session replays. If the masking level had a few more enum cases, I think it would be more developer-friendly and easier to control what shows up in replays. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Amplitude Analytics?

Customer support service: Last week, I was struggling with a memory issue and I reached out to your team for help, but they couldn’t resolve it. They only told me that a new update was available and asked me to update the SDK, but my issue still persists. If they take their customers seriously and provide proper support, it would be fine. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Amplitude Analytics solving and how is that benefiting you?

Using session replays and feature flags really helps us pinpoint production issues and resolve them quickly. Apart from that, making decisions based on the data is helpful too, although that’s something that’s fairly common in other software as well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

“Easy to implement. Easy to use. Find and fix bugs before your user sees them.”
What do you like best about LogRocket?

Easy to use, competitive pricing, great support.

Very easy to add to my software solutions. The docs are very, very clear, and the customer support AI agent is extremely helpful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about LogRocket?

Pricing plans could be easier to find. I initially thought it was very expensive but after engaging with support I was informed about a cheaper team plan.

In my mind, a team plan is always the more expensive option in a pricing structure. I am a sole employee software provider, so I did not consider the team plan to be applicable to me until I spoke to customer support. It ended up being the cheaper option for me. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is LogRocket solving and how is that benefiting you?

Prior to using LogRocket, if a customer reported an issue with my software solution, I had to engage with that customer directly and ask them to recreate the issue. Which is a lot of trouble for me and also the end user. Now that I use LogRocket, I just have to ask the user the time or date of their interaction, and I can review their session and see what issues they had.

I can always also be proactive in finding and fixing bugs in production instead of being informed by an end user, which could damage my reputation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Contentsquare's ability to visualize actual user behavior through heatmaps and session replays. This allows me to quickly identify friction points and move from hypothesis to action with concrete data. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Contentsquare?

The export and manipulation of raw data sometimes remains limited, which complicates cross-analysis with other data sources (like Piwik Pro in my case). More flexibility in APIs and custom exports would be appreciated. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Contentsquare solving and how is that benefiting you?

1. Understand the "why" - Traditional analytics show that there is a problem (high bounce rate, low conversion), but not why. Session replays and heatmaps reveal exactly where users are getting stuck.

2. Identify specific frictions - Path analysis and zoning allow me to locate abandonment points in conversion funnels and prioritize optimizations with high business impact.

3. Convince with visual evidence - Heatmaps and replays make my recommendations much more convincing to marketing and product teams.

Result: I transition from a simple analyst reporting numbers to a proactive force with concrete and measurable optimizations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I find the heat maps feature in Lucky Orange to be a massive part of its appeal. This feature helps streamline and optimize our websites, especially in performing conversion rate optimization. Lucky Orange makes everything so easy with its user-friendly interface and relevant columns, making it great for new users to start using heat maps or recordings and see all that data. Additionally, the initial setup of Lumar was quite easy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

“Disappointing Experience with MonsterInsights”
What do you like best about MonsterInsights?

What do you dislike about MonsterInsights?

I don't find the features useful - it is an expensive service that GoogleAnalytics can provide in greater depth. They need to improve their refund experience - they refused to refund me out of the 14-day window and refund a pro-rata for my annual subscription. They are GREEDY and do not care about their client's post-service experience. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
