What I like best about Riverside.fm is its AI editing. It takes what is usually the most time-consuming part of podcast production and makes it effortless. The AI automatically removes silences, tightens up conversations, and helps produce a professional-sounding episode in a fraction of the time—without sacrificing quality. What I like least about Riverside.fm is the long export times. After an otherwise efficient recording and editing process, waiting for exports can be frustrating and slows down the overall workflow—especially when working on tight timelines. Riverside has some great features and the fact that you can record with someone remotely and receive full quality raw files is awesome! Also I love that they are constantly improving and adding new features as well. The software is really easy to use and it has a lot of versatility for different types of production (video recordings, podcasts, live streams, etc.). I am currently using Riverside much more often that I expected and plan on testing out more feature soon! It has been really easy to implement into my current workflow. The software layout is a bit confusing and it almost seems like in an attempt to make it as user friendly as possible it has become more of a burden to find certain things (there's also multiple ways to do each thing which can be confusing.) I was also struggling to find information on certain features, for example I (as the producer) was hoping to run the teleprompter for my host but after an hour of tinkering I was not able to figure it out. As someone who started this podcast with unreliable internet in a rural community, it was invaluable that Riverside records the files locally and uploads them later. So the thing that has bugged me about it, and I think this is mostly fixed now, but the edit function, and especially when I tried to download an edit from the web, it would crash my browser. I could eventually get it to work, but it would sometimes take multiple tries to get it working well enough to download the edit I wanted. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Its very easy to learn and use. It has audio enhancement tools that really improve the sound. They have good customer support and I can use AI to find clips for social media etc. I like how Riverside records each person seperately in different video and audio tracks. These are saved natively to the person's device and uploaded after. This solves the tinny audio of recorded zooms. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It's an online tool so you are downloading and waiting for exporting a lot of the time. I'm not clear on which tools are best for downloading recordings that integrate best with video editing software like Avid or Premiere. You have to be sure and tell participants not to shut down their computer so that Riverside can upload their high quality video and audio. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Riverside has made podcast and other video production simple and I come at this with ZERO experience. I can use it along, with my team or 3rd parties without issue - even when some parties are on a mobile phone.

I love the AI tools and editting features, as they allow me to enhance and refine my videos without needing to do many takes or retakes. And with the easy premade layouts, I can quickly format my footage into vertical and horizontal videos for YouTube shorts and main videos. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

My dislike is simply not dedicating more time to watching their YouTube channel to learn more about how I can use the product to make better videos for my small business. But, that's really my issue, not an issue for Riverside. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It works...

I came from Descript, I like them for their editing tools which are admittedly slightly more granular, however the program was constantly updating and the UI was always in flux and that hampered my ability really lock in a workflow.

With Riverside, the granularity is not completely present but the areas that are missing are negligible and i can work with them. I already have a workflow down and have only recorded on the platform four times. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

1. I cant do much with segment transitions, id like the ability to create and save transitions to my brand in the same way i can insert intro and outtro.

2. I would like to see the addition of sound keys added to the music part of the editor. I want to have the granularity to set specific time points where i want the music loud and where i want it quiet. I understand i can do this in a more robust tool like audition, but, if im paying for an editor like Riverside then I would hope to have basic features like sound keys.

3. Live Stream capabilities are not as straightforward when going live on FB nor do they support going live on platforms like tiktok. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I love how easy it is to set up a recording and invite others to join you. Their AI tools are super easy to implement, making editing a breeze and making it easy to put out a professional-sounding product. I use Riverside now multiple times a week to record shows, and it's integrated effortlessly into my work process. I wish that their mobile app were a bit more friendly when it comes to setting up things on the run. There have been times when I wanted to set up a future recording and send the guest the invite from the mobile app, but you can't do that. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I’m truly impressed with Riverside and the way it keeps getting better. When I first started, I knew nothing about video editing, but I quickly became skilled enough that people now reach out to me because of the visibility I’ve gained. The audio and video quality are consistently excellent, and being able to use my iPhone as my main camera while routing audio through my Rodecaster Pro has been a complete game-changer. Once the workflow is set, Riverside gives me a polished, professional look without needing a full studio. There’s a noticeable learning curve, especially when switching from other platforms. Some workflows like getting my iPhone set as the main camera without ending up in a split screen can feel a little confusing at first. A few features could be more intuitive or streamlined so creators don’t have to hunt through menus or community posts to figure things out. As a new podcaster, I committed my research to finding a podcast editing platform that provided simplicity and convenience for me as a user. I needed a platform that integrated AI along and one where tutorials were easily accessible; Riverside has provided all of this for me. Access to the Riverside Youtube channel has guided me through the process of recording, editing, and posting my podcast, and when I need an additional pick-me-up I review live broadcast that allow me to grow as a user! While I'm a novice podcaster, Riverside has allowed me to transition my idea of hosting a podcast to posting my very first episode within 2 weeks!!! Riverside continues to listen to user feedback, implement changes that enhance the user experience, and I have yet to find myself in a situation within the platform that has hindered my growth:) Lastly, the customer support has been exemplary! I use Riverside almost every day as I work to drop weekly podcasts, and in the only time I needed support they were timely, kind, and resolved my self-inflicted problem with ease, while assuring me throughout the process.
