The video and audio quality is better than alternatives. The platform is simple to use and provides a number of features like automatic transcription which are very useful. **What do you dislike about Riverside?** Uploading and processing large recordings can take some time as it takes in most of the apps. The editing tools aren't as advanced as dedicated video editing software. **What problems is Riverside solving and how is that benefiting you?** Riverside solves the problem of recording high-quality podcasts, interviews, and videos. Regular video call apps often reduce audio and video quality because they depend heavily on internet speed, while Riverside records on each participant's device to maintain better quality. I appreciate being able to add my clients' branding to videos, and the audio enhancement is awesome. The recording quality is very high, and the videos come out sharp and crisp. **What do you dislike about Riverside?** It is not as good at audio editing. While I now use video in addition to the regular podcasts, the flow of audio for video and audio-only is very different. The editing tools that remove filler words and pauses require extra editing on my part to create the smooth sound I want for the podcasts. Also, it decides what "filler words" are, and I would like the option to add a list of words and phrases that I can flag. For instance, "I think that," "I mean," "And" at the beginning of a sentence. I can, of course, do this through the search function, but that is cumbersome. The AI assistant that can produce text and thumbnails is just ok. It could be much better. As a result, I either edit a lot of what it suggests or I use ChatGPT or Gemini. There is another issue I have been trying to bring to Riverside's attention. They are very good at responding to support issues, but I cannot get anyone to respond to this dilemma I have. Riverside is Israeli-owned, and some of my clients and their guests, because of political reasons, have reservations about working with companies out of Israel. Riverside is not on any of the "boycott" lists, but my clients want assurances that Riverside is not connected with the Israeli government or actions in Palestine. From what I can tell, it is not. It is a good product, and the people running it may hold personal political beliefs, but the platform and the company seem neutral on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. I need to provide more assurances to my clients, but I cannot until I hear from someone in Riverside management. The process for guests to join a meeting in Riverside is easier than any other video platform I am familiar with (like Teams or Zoom). I also enjoy how easy it is to edit footage after-the-fact by deleting parts of the transcript instead of having to listen to the recording over and over again. We've used it weekly ever since that first day in January 2023. • Cold storage on your recordings is GREAT, they archive your stuff, and whenever you want to download the files again, you can usually retrieve them within an hour or two. The speed at which they pull up archived files is pretty incredible. I run a small podcast with a close friend, and Riverside has been the best platform we've used to date. We have never found a reason to find a different solution for our podcast. **What do you dislike about Riverside?** The quality of live video during recording is often times really blurry. Also, at least once during each recording, the video + audio freeze. This makes it hard to know where the person you're talking to has moved the conversation to and if they asked you a question but you missed it. Occasionally, the recordings require an indeterminate amount of time to process. I have no clue why this is. Sometimes, the recordings are ready within minutes, and we recorded for over 1.5 hours. Sometimes, a short 10-minute recording will take 2 hours to process. I have no idea why this is. The UI is janky sometimes. Often, my guests do not know where the buttons are on their end, and I have to walk them through it. Some of the newer features they've released like editing, ai transcripts, social clips and more -- function very half-baked. I know eventually they will be really awesome but for right now my workflow still requires additional tools to make my podcast be the best it can be.
