The configurator

-Efficient sequential approach where the answers to the first questions narrows down the possibilities accordingly for the next questions.

With Smart CPQ, and the associated methods, you can benefit from an approach that facilitates the formalization of your business rules and constraints. And a quick way to test them.

What do you like best?

Ease of use for our users. Great support from everyone on the Pros team we've worked with, from the start of our evaluation, though the planning and project phases, continuing to this day, almost 2 years after launch. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

When used correctly, PROS CPQ is an easy way for our sales teams to understand what separates a good deal from a bad deal. It's a force multiplier that allows us to set rules around quoting and execute to a plan while distilling it down to a grade score for the sales rep. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Configuration and customization of CPQ and the cart model is overly complex. It shouldn't require linking a mapping set if we already know which data point we are using, and macros and formulas can be combined into a single option. Training for the tool was great for the purpose of passing the test, not so great for addressing real world business problems in multi-product environments, like Smart CPQ and Guidance together. Support has been lackluster, but I think part of that is growing pains for the company and part of it is a need to open up education to the customer in a more structured format (like growing the Connect community) to let the customer better understand the journey that PROS is trying to take them on. In our implementation, we had good technical people but nobody really spent the time helping us understand the consequences of each decision we were asked to make or offer guidance on how we can explore our business before we answer. What do you like best?

Easy integration with CRM. Real time integration with PPSS to get pricing and guidance. The Business Rules and Constraint concept is very powerful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

UI/UX experience. could be more flexible and user friendly, The CPQ designer tool too has lot of features but it seems they are all over the place. It would be good if the are consolidated in a better way to help developers build stuff. The Cart designer is too tedious to work with

What do you like best?

Very knowledgeable sales team, know their product, and can relate to the challenges we face. Good system, designed for transportation (Origin destination). Easy to implement, and create the value we needed, at a fair price. Got a great product, with good functionality, at a reasonable cost moving to subscription model, not having to pay for software up front, so costs could be spread out over time and allow ROI to catch up.

Customer service could be a bit better..... As we went through the process, the "functionality" we needed, was misinterpreted, and we got into disputes about what was in scope and what was not. Not unreasonable positions to take by them, but you have to be clear on what you need/want....to be sure no disputes. What do you like best?

CPQ has done an excellent job in reducing administrative hours for our sales force, returning the equivalent of two sales calls per month to the typical account manager. It is also strategically important to have a CPQ that can integrate into an advanced pricing manager that can help determine the price envelop for ongoing customer negotiations and this CPQ can do just that. Be wary of specifying a CPQ solution that comes alone. Smart CPQ helps make you future proof as pricing initiatives and needs grow. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

The product is very customize-able, but I would caution against that - out of the box is likely a better solution than appears at first glance. Know your desired process and find the CPQ that matches best without a lot of customer mod's being made. We made the mistake of a little too much tailoring to what we thought we might need.
