CrowdCompass is a fantastic event tool that is not only easy to use from the build side, but easy to teach attendees how to use (even those that are not tech savvy!) Since introducing the mobile app at our conference two years ago, we've really upped the attendee experience and level of engagement and excitement. The ability to pull detailed report on engagement metrics is a plus. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Going through Attendee Hub can be cumbersome when teaching attendees how to download the app; it's not difficult by any means, but adds a slight level of complexity. It would be great to have additional features within the app for gamification. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
CrowdCompass integrates fully with Cvent's Event Management system for creating registration websites, as well as their Appointments module, their Virtual Attendee Hub (for virtual events) and more. All attendees, sessions, speakers, exhibitors, and session registration rules are integrated. There is built-in gamification to help attendees learn to use the app and the ability to customize gamification for increased attendee engagement. Live Polls keep attendees engaged and give valuable insights. The app is easy to configure and easy to use to prove ROI. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Gamification is limited to photo answers. I am sure there will be future enhancements. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
CrowdCompass was very easy to use. Their support and on boarding were top notch. I found the process of app development to be very easy.
Our attendees were very impressed with the ease of use, the features and their ability to add/subtract from their schedule.
Our event quickly pivoted to virtual for this year. I can’t imagine having made the change without CrowdCompass to support our Cvent registration. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I honestly can’t come up with many downsides. The only “issue” I had was that I couldn’t adjust the game settings after publishing. But that was my fault more than anything. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Crowd Company is very easy to use. Some training is necessary but it is vey intuitive. We no longer have any printed materials at our meetings and the widgets are self-explanatory for all attendees. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Updates to the meeting can be pushed through the backend however edits could be easier and more streamlined. Training is needed but once you get the hang of it, it is pretty straight forward. I think the app could use a update or refresh. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I loved the hand-holding that I received through my first event (and I know it comes standard because I've been part of launching a 'first event' with two different companies so I got the royal first-timer treatment twice, even though I didn't need it much the second time). I also really like how easy the platform is to use on the backend, how much of it integrates with Cvent's event management tool, and how customizeable the UI is. There are two big downsides, both of which relate to the communication between Cvent's event management platform and CrowdCompass, so take this with a grain of salt because if you're not using CrowdCompass then this may be moot point for you. Both issues have to do with the fact that Cvent communicates INTO CrowdCompass, but CrowdCompass can't really communicate BACK to Cvent.
1) AGENDA CHANGES -- Because changes made in the app do not communicate back to Cvent, if you want ANY sort of Cvent-side tracking you will have to turn off the agenda modification features in the app. This disgrunteled a lot of our end users because we pushed them so hard to download and use the app, but if they wanted to modify their agenda, they had to log into their Cvent registration and change their agenda manually there (which then communicated to CrowdCompass and updated their agenda after a few minutes in their app). Our other option would have been to use the OnArrival scanners, but the cost was too high for us.
2) CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITS -- Because the CrowdCompass surveys don't communicate back to Cvent, if you want to automatically issue CE certificates based on a survey submission, you have to go through the process of turning off the surveys in the app, the ratings system (because I discovered the hard way that this confused people a lot), and then creating dynamic links and a central place to house said links (e.g. the app homepage). Or, your other alternative is to simply not offer the surveys through the app. It was definitely a bit of a pain to go through figuring out the best way to do this, but now that I have a system down, I feel comfortable using it in the future. The program is fairly easy to use, once you have set up a few apps it is easy to understand what goes where. And if you link the app to registration information in Cvent it is even better. All the sessions, attendees, speakers information will flow right into your app set up, which saves TONS of time Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
If you have to move a guest from one session to another it is a bit time consuming as you have to upload the file. Some guests seem to have issues with the download, but I think that is usually user erorr. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
For our delegation trips to Washington DC and Mexico City, customization and on-the-go push notifications are key! We loved the customizable graphics allowing us to make the branding consistent (plus the ability to monetize sponsorship opportunities). On the trips, things are also in a state of flux with room changes and multiple schedules and tracks for our attendees. The push notifications were extremely helpful! I'd love for attendees to be able to see who else is registered for each session in advance... that would allow them to coordinate ride shares or just connect prior to meetings. Perhaps there is now a way to do this, but we had to use workarounds - we uploaded a list of registered attendees to each session as a pdf - however, this didn't update as attendees made changes to their schedules... The ease of being able to build an entire conference app on my own with no coding experience necessary. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I have sometimes been dissatisfied with my contact who assists in building the app. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like the sponsor opportunities and customer support. We were able to increase our sponsorship revenue through ads and splash pages within the application. A member of the CVENT team was always available and quick to respond if we had questions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I wish there were more free gamification options Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I love how easy apps are to create for our events, and the fact that your event information from Cvent transfers over to CrowdCompass. Our organization has gone paperless over the passed five years, and CrowdCompass has been essential in doing so. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Honestly, I cannot think of anything that I dislike about this product! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The price without any loss of features specifically the tier system which allows you to input schedules and assign them to tiers. Rather than having all of the users have individual schedules, assign tiers so that as many users as possible can have identical schedules. Doing this can turn 500 edits in 20 edits. Small learning curve if you've never used a event app system before it can be a challenge. If you've used one before this one will come naturally. The game system should be modified to where the admins can choose whether or not the points and modifiers can be changed mid-game. Oftentimes, gamification would be one of the last things we would implement and the app would usually be published before we'd have a chance to edit it however the game system is one of the only systems that does NOT allow you to edit it at all once the app is published. Since admins are in control of the app itself anyways, I feel like the admins should at least have an option whether they want to maintain control of the game system while the app is published (reset points, add achievements, etc). CrowdCompass is really easy to use and program, even when you aren't particularly tech saavy. All of the widgets are self-explanatory, the graphics are listed out with the details of each spec needed per mobile device type, and you can queue up notifications with the click of a button. The icons are customizable and can be updated to fit your specific graphic needs, and it's a seamless update between the data you host in your Cvent Event Management Account into CrowdCompass ... so attendee info, sessions, etc. all populate. It's also a great tool because - once your attendees have it downloaded - it's easy to search for new meetings that you launch within the platform (if public). It's still a little challenging to link all of the content to the right icon, and it can be hard to fit all the info you need on the screen as icons and copy can only be so large/long. I think that's pretty standard for apps, but choosing the dynamic screen can help quite a bit with that if you have a meeting that's driven heavily by an agenda. It's also challenging to have attendees turn off notifications when we really bank on those to get key messages out. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I love the technology features that CrowdCompass gave us to add to our event. Even though we hadn't done anything of the sort before, I was confident that CC would be able to fix any problems we had, get our app submitted on time, and provide support as we were planning the event. I did a lot of app demos and the sales experience and the overall interface of CrowdCompass was by far my favorite. I also loved that we had the native app capabilities that allowed the app to refresh itself without counting on a refresh (something that many of our audience don't quite understand.) One of the things that set CrowdCompass apart from other apps were all of the different options when it came to app advertisement and engaging our sponsors. The financial cost of the app is a big investment for our organization, but because there are so many options to advertise, we are able to offer several options, allowing sponsors to choose from multiple price points and features. I was really impressed with the sales experience of CrowdCompass, but I thought the actual process for creating and submitting the app was missing a lot of organization. As a project manager and event organizer, I appreciate when the customer experience is indicative of the care and financial investment that we're making. While I like the app experience and it's aesthetics, the process really lacked a manager or an onboarding process. I think that CrowdCompass has a lot of work to do in this regard. I have not personally used this app but seen the demo and liked it. My co-workers have used it and liked it very much. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I do not dislike anything because I have not used it yet Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
My favorite thing about using CrowdCompass is eliminating the need to print agendas and other materials. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Would like to see more gamification options. Perhaps a way to build a mixer into the app. Also, would like to be able to create a post-session survey for each session (this is available in the DoubleDutch app which was recently purchased by Cvent). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Setup is generally straightforward. Mainly, the team who helped with implementation was great. Attendees really enjoyed the interactive nature of the app, and the challenges were a fun way to add in some light-hearted competition. App adoption was far greater than had been with our previous event mobile app as well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Some aspects of the platform weren't especially user-friendly. For example, some items were edited on the admin section, but others were edited at the event section, and it was hard to remember which was edited where. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
This tool allows our attendees to have a more personalized experience while on-site and now with virtual events we can use it to increase engagement. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
As of now, I don't have any downsides to using it. We have been able to use it successfully ing for many events. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
