Job Costing Software

Typically, Job Costing is a capability of a variety of other G2 Software categories. See more below to select the

best Job Costing Software.

Job costing is used to track the cost of a product or service and the revenue generated from it. In turn, this helps to determine profit margins on a job-by-job basis and identify overall profits and losses for the offering. Job costing can be performed using a variety of software including project management systems, professional service automation tools, project-based ERP, ERP suites, or (for a more bootstrap approach) time tracking solutions. All of these tools offer features for tracking the amount of time, effort, and resources that go into an offering and allows users to easily break that down to determine total profits. Job costing is heavily used in the construction industry as well, and there are many products catered specifically to construction accounting.

“Excellent for Managing and Tracking Sales Leads”
What do you like best about monday Work Management?

What I like best about monday Work Management is how easy it is to manage and track leads throughout the sales process. We use it as a central place to capture enquiries, assign leads to team members, track follow-ups, and monitor pipeline progress. The customisable boards and status updates give us clear visibility into where every lead sits, helping ensure opportunities don't get missed. It has improved organisation, accountability, and response times while giving management a real-time view of the sales pipeline. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about monday Work Management?

monday Work Management is highly customisable, but that can make the initial setup and organisation of lead pipelines take some time. As boards grow and more statuses, automations, and custom fields are added, it can require ongoing maintenance to keep everything clean and easy to navigate. Reporting is strong, but some more advanced views and dashboards can take time to configure properly. Overall, these are minor challenges compared to the value it provides. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is monday Work Management solving and how is that benefiting you?

Monday Work Management helps us solve the challenge of tracking and managing leads in a structured way. Before implementing it, lead information could be spread across emails, notes, and conversations, making it harder to maintain visibility and follow up consistently. We now use Monday to capture enquiries, assign ownership, track pipeline stages, schedule follow-ups, and monitor lead activity in one place. This has improved accountability, increased visibility across the team, and reduced the risk of leads being overlooked, helping us manage our sales process more efficiently. “Great visibility and workflow tracking for sales onboarding, but room to improve”
What do you like best about Jira?

for my workflow, Jira has been a valuable tool for managing customer onboarding project , implementation request , sales operations initiative and collaboration with technical teams, while Jira is traditionally associated with software development , it has also helped our sales organization improved project tracking, accountability and communication across department, the biggest advantage of Jira is visibility it provides into task , project status and owenership, it allows sales, implementation , support and engineering teams to work from a shared system.. ensuring that customer related project and request are tracked effectively,. i regularly use Jira for customer onboarding tracking, implementation project coordination, feature request management, sales operations initiative, cross functional project collaboration , escalation tracking .the platform provides provides a structured and organized way to manage project, kanban boards, dashboards, and workfow tracking make it easy to understand project status and identify bottlenecks, feature i find useful include customer workflows, kanban and agile boards, tasks ownership tracking , project dashboards and automated notification, advanced search and filtering,. Jira integration effectively with tools used across sales and business operations . the platform performs reliably for project tracking , collaboration and reporting , even when managing multiple project and teams, Jira provides strong visibility into progress and tasks owenership. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Jira?

sometimes it can feel overly complex for business users who are not involved in technical project management on a daily basis, the platform offers extensive customization and functionality, which is powerful but it can also makes navigation and adoption more challenging for sales teams, i have also found that highly customized workflows can sometimes create additional administrative overhead, when multiple department use Jira differently, maintaining consistency across project and reports and become difficult, another challenge is that generating executive level reports often requires additional configuration or dashboards customization to present information in a way that is most useful for business clients, Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?

Jira helps me to solve several challenges related to project visibility cross functional collaboration, tasks tracking and customer implementation mangement, before using Jira, coordinating activities between sales, implementations, support and engineering teams often relied on emails, spreadsheets and manual follow ups making it difficult to tracking progress and accountability,.it solves problems such as lack of visibility into project status and customer request, difficulty tracking tasks ownership and deadlines, communication gaps between sales and technical teams, delatys in customer onboarding and implementation projects. it has improves communication between sales, customer sales, customer success, support and engineering teams by providing a share workspace where updates discussions, and project status are accessible to all clients. “Asana powers our workday success”
What do you like best about Asana?

I love being able to build quick project plans from templates and assign my teammates so everyone knows what they're responsible for.

Celebrations in Asana make you excited to check things off and keep pushing for the finish line.

Rules help automate the project management so I can spend more time finishing tasks and less time managing the project settings. The addition of AI logic within rules has supercharged our projects and workflows and enabled automated features that were previously manual saving our staff a considerable amount of time.

The rollout of Work Week so tasks don't assign on the weekends have been great. Asana is constantly improving, not staying stagnant, and listening to it's user base.

Asana's Academy and recent certifications have made onboarding new staff a breeze and those badges look great on LinkedIn :)

When we create a task, a project, a rule in Asana, it's high speed, we don't have to worry about frequent outages like other tools. And when there was a recent outage of another outside tool that impacted Asana, the Asana app works on a computer without a wifi signal, so we could all keep working and when it was reconnected, boom, we were all set. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Asana?

We moved to an Enterprise plan a couple of years ago and not long after, they added another Enterprise plan and some of the items we'd joined for moved up into that higher bracket. I wish there was more availability in our legacy Enterprise plan for some security settings and app settings.

Aside from that, I LOVE everything about Asana. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Asana:

Asana has made it simple and easy for us to be on the same page and move our work and organization forward. I've been in a lot of project management tools over my working career and hands down, Asana has been the best to work with. I've used it in almost every use case imaginable and it's always more than met our needs. The Asana team is also committed to continuously making the tool better and better and listen to their community of users as they implement new solutions and enhancements. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?

We use Asana for everything from planning our annual 5K to planning out our IT infrastructure projects. Our marketing plans are moving forward as a result of all our projects and nested portfolios. We even plan our meeting agendas in Asana. Maintenance, HR, and Volunteer Services are all now onboarded into Asana as well, enabling automation and less manual work for those teams.

Our donation revenue has grown increasingly over the last few years and Asana has played a big role in that through powering our productivity.

The integration with Zapier enables us to create even more complex workflows across our tech stack while still enabling our staff to remain in one platform. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

“Notion: all-in-one to organize, save time, and find everything quickly”
What do you like best about Notion?

It is a very useful tool for organizing day-to-day information, planning activities, and keeping workspaces separate, both for personal use and for work. I like that it allows you to combine several functions in a single application: managing tasks, taking notes, creating Excel-type sheets to keep track of information, and centralizing different areas of knowledge on a single page.

The browser extensions that allow me to insert information into Notion are fantastic. Additionally, it is very fast and allows you to easily find the information you are looking for when you need it. Even in its free plan, it generates a great return because it saves a lot of time.

Its artificial intelligence tool is also very useful because it allows you to draft information and make inquiries quickly without leaving the tool.

Its team is very generous in sending you information by email that helps you learn to use it in a very short time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Notion?

At first, it may seem intimidating to have to learn how to use the tool, but thanks to the wide variety of resources available and a whole community where you can find help, the process becomes very simple in no time.

The only disadvantage of using Notion, really, is not using it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Notion solving and how is that benefiting you?

It allows me to collect information while I do research, sort and organize data, and plan tasks from your Canvas panel. I can also insert calendars and convert the same table into different views, whether in list or calendar format. Overall, it helps me a lot to keep my day-to-day more organized. I use Smartsheet daily as the main tool for project management and control, and my experience has been extremely positive. The platform offers an intuitive and easy-to-use interface, allowing teams from different areas to track activities, deadlines, and responsibilities in an organized and transparent manner. The flexibility in creating and customizing spreadsheets, dashboards, and reports is excellent, as I can adapt the tool to the specific needs of each project. The automation features significantly contribute to reducing manual activities, increasing productivity, and minimizing operational errors. I also love the real-time visibility of project progress, which facilitates the monitoring of indicators, the identification of deviations, and making quicker and more assertive decisions. Additionally, the ability to centralize information, documents, approvals, and controls in a single environment is very valuable to me. The initial setup process was excellent, super fast, and easy to adapt. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about ClickUp?

The UI and UX are great. ClickUp does have a learning curve, but after the initial onboarding process, the experience becomes seamless. Performance on my Mac is excellent, whether I’m using it in the browser or in the native app. In terms of pricing and ROI, it’s a great option if you actually use all of its features, since it can replace other software. The integrations with Google apps—my company’s main ecosystem—are also strong, including Drive, Calendar, Email, and more. The AI integrations are great, either to give context in chats, create and automate tasks, and you can go beyond with agents. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

“Acumatica Delivers Flexibility and Scalability for Global Growth”
What do you like best about Acumatica?

I love that Acumatica is truly cloud-based, making accessibility seamless for our global teams. The generic inquiry (GI) feature is a game changer, allowing even non-technical users like me to build custom reports and dashboards easily. Its intuitive web interface makes onboarding new employees quick, and the scalability means we can grow without being handcuffed by the ERP system. The consumption-based pricing structure is also a huge plus, and the reliability has been outstanding compared to previous systems. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Acumatica?

Honestly, there isn’t much to dislike, but the process of migrating from our old system was complex, especially consolidating customers from multiple databases. Integrating new acquisitions and handling multi-currency, multi-tenant setups required extra effort and some creative workarounds, but Acumatica’s flexibility helped us address these challenges. I’d also say that while AI features are promising, we’re still exploring their full potential. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Acumatica solving and how is that benefiting you?

Scalability and flexibility are the biggest strengths for us. Because of features like attributes, we’ve been able to design the underlying data structure so it can live in both big and small buckets, depending on what we need. That makes it easy to add something like a brand attribute for a new product, and then have the data automatically flow throughout the data ecosystem we’ve created. Procore is an absolute game-changer for keeping everything organized. Everything in one place: It connects the field and the office perfectly, from early bidding, day-to-day use, to all the way to project closeout.

Procore performs really well - you can manage things at a high company portfolio level, but still easily dive into specific daily project logs. It makes handling RFIs, submittals, and drawing updates way less painful for the team on-site.

Procore is also very competitive in pricing comparing to their rivals and really gives great value for money.

Multiple reports and documents can be integrated and scheduled when needed.

Their training is super flexible. They have free, self-paced certification courses so your team can learn without disrupting their day jobs. It’s perfect if you're trying to scale up and want real-time visibility into what’s happening on-site. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

“User-Friendly App that is great for a team in a business”
What do you like best about Syncro?

It’s simple to use, and the layout makes it easy to navigate and quickly find the different areas you need. There are also plenty of implementation options, which helps when managing devices connected to the application and makes it quicker and easier to work through tickets and tasks.

The addition of the calendar, which is linked into the system, is especially helpful for people who use the app frequently and handle multiple tickets. It lets you see what you have scheduled alongside the rest of the team, making it easier to coordinate and build a plan for the day across the whole team.

Overall, the speed and performance of the site are incredible. It works quickly and efficiently for what I need on a day-to-day basis, without issues. The system also integrates easily with multiple devices and products, giving you a more direct and faster way to monitor and work with the devices you use. Being able to get alerts and track everything in one app is much more effective than having to use multiple sites and apps at once. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Syncro?

When I’m working on multiple tickets, it can be hard to tell whether other team members are already working on the same ticket. The system doesn’t indicate that a ticket is in progress, which can lead to confusion and mistakes when multiple people end up working on it at the same time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Syncro solving and how is that benefiting you?

It makes it easy for me and the team to manage tickets quickly, especially compared with other ticketing systems that are harder to use and less user-friendly. When we’re working on tasks that involve multiple steps, we can quickly add a worksheet so we have a clear way to track and monitor what’s been completed in a listed format, helping ensure nothing gets missed. “user friendly and great customer support. Don't seem to listen to feedback to improve though.”
What do you like best about GCPay?

I still wish they'd make the monthly cost bundle report print by Division, and not by Alphabetical order. For any client, when we present the monthly billing, we have to present by going down the line, division by division. The monthly bundle is alphabetical, so each month, we have to manually reorganize. It seems so simple to make this change, yet seems to never be acknowledged. With that, GCPya is great, but they don't seem to care to get better, whereas everyone else has caught up or passed them, as they try to improve year over year. GCPay is more or less the same as it was 10 years ago. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about GCPay?

Same as previous response. Also it is annoying that they greyed out the ability for us to check or uncheck if we should be responsible for sub SOVs or they are. We can call support, but this was a useful feature (as a lot of subs we work with are a little less sophisticated) that they took away. Sort of goes with the theme of the review that they aren't trying to improve, but instead maybe even working backwards a little. If some GCs want that greyed out, then have it be a setting in project/company settings. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is GCPay solving and how is that benefiting you?

Integration with Vista has saved our main office time and headaches. Tracking of insurance compliance is extremely helpful. Tracking on lien waivers is extremely helpful. Adding these to a pay app software truly benefits us and saves us time tracking these elsewhere, especially as we can set up to not let a sub submit their pay app without them. Its a great way to force the subs to keep up on their paperwork or they won't be paid timely, without making us look like jerks. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

“Real-Time Visibility Across Finance, Inventory, Purchasing, and Sales”
What do you like best about NetSuite?

What I like best about NetSuite is the ability to see financial, inventory, purchasing, and sales information in one place. It provides real-time visibility into our business, helps streamline month-end close and reporting, and allows us to analyze profitability by channel, customer, and product. The flexibility to create custom reports, saved searches, and workflows has been valuable in improving efficiency and decision-making. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about NetSuite?

The biggest challenges are the complexity of reporting and the amount of setup required to support operational and financial analysis. Building meaningful reports often requires advanced knowledge of saved searches, custom records, and system configurations. Data integrity can also become an issue when processes are not standardized, and troubleshooting transaction flows across inventory, purchasing, fulfillment, and accounting modules can be time-consuming. Improvements to usability, reporting, and data management would significantly enhance the user experience. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is NetSuite solving and how is that benefiting you?

NetSuite helps us manage financials, inventory, purchasing, sales orders, fulfillment, and customer transactions within a single system. By centralizing data, it reduces manual processes, minimizes errors caused by disconnected systems, and provides real-time visibility into business performance.

The biggest benefit is improved decision-making. We can monitor inventory levels, track order fulfillment, analyze profitability, manage cash flow, and generate financial reports from one platform. This allows us to identify issues more quickly, improve operational efficiency, and make more informed business decisions. NetSuite also supports scalability as the business grows by providing standardized processes and stronger internal controls across departments. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

“Autotask: A Reliable, Centralized Hub with Strong Ticket Workflow Customization”
What do you like best about Autotask?

Autotask does a good job keeping service operations centralized without needing multiple disconnected systems. The ticket workflow customization is one of the strongest parts of the platform because it allows us to adapt processes to different customer environments instead of forcing a rigid structure. We also like the visibility into technician workload, contract tracking, and recurring task management. Once configured properly, it becomes a reliable day-to-day operational hub for both reactive support and long-term client management. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Autotask?

The platform is powerful, but some areas still feel overly complex for simple administrative tasks. Certain menus and configuration sections take longer to navigate than they should, especially for newer technicians. Reporting can also require more manual refinement than expected to get clean output for management or customer-facing summaries. Performance and UI responsiveness occasionally feel inconsistent depending on the section being used. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Autotask solving and how is that benefiting you?

Autotask has helped reduce operational overlap between ticket handling, customer communication, and technician scheduling. Before standardizing around it, a lot of information lived in separate systems or depended too heavily on manual follow-up. Having contracts, ticket queues, escalation paths, and time tracking tied together has improved accountability and made it easier to manage response expectations across multiple clients. It has also helped us identify workflow bottlenecks earlier and maintain more consistent service delivery as workload increases. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

“Airtable as a Single Source of Truth for Complex Pipelines”
What do you like best about Airtable?

As a Technical Producer, what I value most about Airtable is its unique ability to bridge the gap between a rigid relational database and a flexible project management tool. It serves as our team’s "single source of truth," allowing us to manage complex technical pipelines, and cross-functional roadmaps all in one place.

Instead of forcing our workflow into a pre-baked software structure, Airtable lets us build the exact schema we need. The ability to link records across different tables means we can connect high-level feature epics directly to granular sprint tasks, code repositories without duplicating data. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Airtable?

While Airtable’s flexibility is its greatest strength, it can also become its biggest operational liability if not heavily governed. Because the platform makes it so easy to grant creation privileges to different parties, a workspace can very quickly suffer from "base and field bloat."

Without strict administrative guardrails, teams inevitably spin up completely new bases, redundant tables, or ad-hoc columns for minor workflows instead of looking for existing alternatives. After a certain stage of growth, managing this massive web of fragmented data becomes highly distracting, cluttered, and incredibly difficult to oversee from a producer's perspective.

Airtable needs better native tools to encourage users to "search before they build." Right now, it is far too easy for a database to grow exponentially in size and complexity, turning what should be a streamlined tool into a chaotic ecosystem that requires constant, manual cleanup to keep manageable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Airtable solving and how is that benefiting you?

Airtable solves the massive problem of data fragmentation across our technical and production pipelines. Before adopting it, our team’s data was scattered across disparate platforms, Jira for engineering, GitHub for code deployments, Google Sheets for tracking, and Slack for communication.

Airtable essentially acts as our central reporting hub. It allows me to pull in and consolidate data from all of these different sources into a single, unified ecosystem.

How this benefits me as a Technical Producer:

Centralized Visualization & Control: I can instantly build high-level executive dashboards, timeline views, and cross-functional roadmaps using the exact same live data. It gives me total control over how information is filtered and presented to different audiences. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

“Effortlessly Tracks Project Time, Needs Better Integrations”
What do you like best about actiTIME?

I like actiTIME, especially for its time tracking features. It's really helped us manage our project timings across multiple teams, which was quite difficult before. The timestamp tracking feature specifically makes it easier to track the projects and tasks we've done, and it really simplifies knowing how much time we're putting into particular tasks. The onboarding process was also super easy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about actiTIME?

I think maybe with a combination of more and more integrations that can be possible with other tools. That can help us a lot. For example, integrating with Jira or any other tool could take our project management and time tracking to the next level. So that can be improved, particularly in the integration areas. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is actiTIME solving and how is that benefiting you?

We use actiTIME for project management across multiple teams, particularly in QA. It helps us track project timings accurately, moving beyond Excel sheets to see where time allocations are efficient or need improvement. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

“Fast Implementation, Major Close-Time Gains, and Fantastic Support”
What do you like best about Rillet?

Starting from implementation the experience was amazing! I've been part of ERP implementation projects that have taken 12+ months, whereas we were live in ~9 weeks. The implementation team was really knowledgeable and took the time to understand our processes and help us design / build the system that would scale with us.

We've been able to reduce our timeline to reconcile cash from 5 days to 1 day leveraging cash rules and AI-enabled cash matching automation. This as well as the native subledgers for previously manually tracked prepaids, fixed assets, and deferred revenue, have allowed us to reduce our month-end close timeline from 12-14 business days down to 5-6 business days.

Also, the customer support team at Rillet is fantastic! They do a great job of listening to customers, understanding pain points, and offering solutions at an incredible pace. I've worked with other software solutions where it's nearly impossible to get a hold of a support team member, so this was definitely a game-changer. The product velocity at Rillet is definitely really impressive! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Rillet?

The UI/UX is overall really clean and easy to use. That said, there are a few improvements that could make simple drill-downs or filtering data a bit easier and more intuitive. Since it’s a newer platform, there are definitely areas that can still be refined, but whenever I’ve raised something with our support team, they’ve been great about taking feedback seriously and offering a solution. Also, the pace of product and feature releases has been pretty incredible. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Rillet solving and how is that benefiting you?

Rillet has helped us accelerate our month-end close timeline, which has freed up time and energy to focus on process improvements, automation initiatives, and other business-critical projects (e.g., tackling our first-time audit and supporting new product launches).
