Job Costing Software

Typically, Job Costing is a capability of a variety of other G2 Software categories. See more below to select the

best Job Costing Software.

Job costing is used to track the cost of a product or service and the revenue generated from it. In turn, this helps to determine profit margins on a job-by-job basis and identify overall profits and losses for the offering. Job costing can be performed using a variety of software including project management systems, professional service automation tools, project-based ERP, ERP suites, or (for a more bootstrap approach) time tracking solutions. All of these tools offer features for tracking the amount of time, effort, and resources that go into an offering and allows users to easily break that down to determine total profits. Job costing is heavily used in the construction industry as well, and there are many products catered specifically to construction accounting.

“Effortless Project Management&Site management with Live Updates”
What do you like best about monday AI Work Platform?

Having worked extensively with monday Work Management, I have found it to be a highly effective platform for managing projects, coordinating teams, and maintaining real-time visibility across ongoing operations. One of the aspects I value most is the level of control and transparency it provides to company management. Project leaders can monitor progress, follow updates as they happen, and maintain a clear overview of what is taking place on site without having to rely entirely on separate reports or constant communication.

From a site management perspective, the ability to upload photographs and videos directly to updates is particularly useful. I have used this functionality to document site progress, completed work, issues, materials, and other important developments as they occur. Because these updates are immediately visible to the relevant team members, information can be communicated much faster and with considerably less ambiguity. In practice, this creates a live record of the project rather than relying solely on retrospective reporting.

I also appreciate the platform's interface and overall user experience. The update system feels somewhat similar to social media, which makes it intuitive even for users who may not have extensive experience with project management software. Team members can post updates, attach media, comment, and follow developments in a familiar and straightforward way. This significantly reduces the learning curve and makes communication more natural within a project environment.

Another feature I have found particularly valuable is the ability to organize and review information chronologically. Over time, the accumulation of dated updates effectively creates a structured digital history of the project. I can scroll back through previous updates, review photographs and videos, and quickly understand how a particular situation developed. In that sense, monday Work Management combines aspects of project management with the convenience of cloud-based document and media storage.

Compared with platforms such as Jira, my experience with monday Work Management has been considerably more straightforward, particularly from a non-programming and operational perspective. It does not require extensive technical knowledge to configure boards, workflows, updates, assignments, and project structures. I was able to adapt the platform to practical site-management requirements without having to depend on programming or complicated configurations.

The built-in Sidekick AI has also made the setup and ongoing management of the platform significantly more efficient. It has been useful for creating and modifying workflows, structuring information, and accelerating tasks that would otherwise require considerable manual configuration. This allowed me to spend more time focusing on the actual project and less time dealing with the mechanics of setting up the management system.

Overall, after using monday Work Management extensively in a real project and site-management environment, I consider it a very capable and practical platform. Its combination of real-time visibility, multimedia updates, chronological organization, intuitive communication, flexible workflow management, and AI-assisted configuration makes it particularly well suited to environments where information needs to move quickly between the site, project management, and company leadership. For my day-to-day work, it has proven to be not simply a task-management tool, but a centralized operational system for keeping project information visible, organized, and continuously updated. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about monday AI Work Platform?

The main thing I dislike so far is the pricing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is monday AI Work Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?

monday Work Management gives company leaders real-time visibility and control, so they can see what’s happening right away. As a site manager, I can upload photos and videos without hassle, which helps keep everyone informed, aligned, and engaged—almost like social media. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

“Seamless Jira–Bitbucket Integration That Streamlines Ticket Tracking”
What do you like best about Jira?

Jira is seamless and well-integrated with Bitbucket. Its dashboard provides a clean and intuitive interface that makes it easy to organise and manage tickets. It also allows me to update ticket statuses according to the defined workflow. The most important aspect I like about Jira is its seamless integration with other applications, which makes the overall development and project management process much more efficient.

It also significantly improves the overall workflow. As a developer, I can easily track my assigned tasks, see which tasks are currently in progress, identify completed or closed tasks, and keep track of what needs to be worked on next. This gives me a clear overview of my work and helps me stay organised and focused. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Jira?

One thing that can sometimes make Jira a little difficult to use is the comment section. There is an additional formatting option that allows users to make comments stand out by adding colours, headings, and other formatting. However, to use these features, you need to write the comment using Jira’s specific text-formatting syntax. You then have to save the comment and check how it appears, which can sometimes feel inconvenient and less intuitive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?

In my organisation, Jira plays an important role in helping developers, QA teams, and managers organise and manage the entire sprint. It allows us to track tickets, update their status, monitor progress, and maintain visibility across the team. Its integration with Bitbucket also makes it easier to connect development activities with the corresponding tickets.

Overall, Jira has become an essential part of our workflow, and it would be quite difficult to manage and track the entire development process efficiently without it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

“Flexible enough to run our whole business on it”
What do you like best about ClickUp?

We use ClickUp for pretty much everything. Project management, marketing launch management, content pipelines, process documentation, dashboards, and a ton of automation work. It's become the one place where all of that lives instead of being scattered across five different tools.

The thing I appreciate most is how flexible it is. We've built completely different workflows for different parts of the business in the same workspace using custom fields and views. With other tools you'd probably have to pay extra for that or set up separate accounts. ClickUp just lets you do it.

On the automation and integration side, the API and webhook support is solid enough that we've wired it into Make.com to move tasks through stages, trigger updated in our CRM, and sync data across tools without anyone doing it manually. That alone has saved us hours every week. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ClickUp?

The dashboards feel basic compared to how powerful the rest of the platform is, you hit the ceiling fast trying to build anything beyond simple status breakdowns.

Also the forms have nice field options but conditional logic is locked behind the higher tier plans which is frustrating when you're on a lower plan and need that flexibility, which means one has to upgrade just for that feature. The built in automations also run out of depth quickly for anything complex so you end up moving the logic to Make.com or Zapier. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is ClickUp solving and how is that benefiting you?

Before ClickUp we had project info in one tool, client tracking in another, docs somewhere else, and automations conneceting them together across multiple platforms. Nothing talked to each other and things kept falling through the cracks. ClickUp solved that by giving us one place to manage everything from project delivery to marketing launches to process documentation. The biggest benefit is visibility. Everyone on the team can see where things stand without asking, and when something stalls it actually shows up instead of sitting in someone's inbox. It also cut down the number of tools we're paying for which helped on the cost side too. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

“Asana Fits Our Team’s Needs with Strong Project Management Features”
What do you like best about Asana?

Asana's project management features work well enough for our team's needs. I like how tasks can be assigned to specific people and due dates can be set. The calendar view is also pretty solid. We've found it's taken a bit to figure out how to use some of the more advanced features, but overall, it's a good tool. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Asana?

Asana's user interface is pretty solid, but I find the default task assignment feature a bit annoying. It took a bit to figure out how to disable it, and I wish there was a more prominent warning about it. It's not a huge deal, but it's something that's bugged me over time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?

Asana's helping us solve project management headaches and keep our team on track. We've reduced meeting time by 30% and boosted productivity by 25% since switching from Trello. It's not perfect, but it's pretty solid for our needs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

“Snappy, Easy-to-Use Notion with Strong Forms, AI, and Integrations”
What do you like best about Notion?

The forms, overall structure, dark mode, stats, and ease of use are all strong. It integrates well with quite a few platforms we already use. Performance feels snappy, and I haven’t experienced any lag when entering input. Pricing is fair: the free tier gives you quite a few tools to work with, and the paid plans take it to the next level. Onboarding was good; I only had a minor issue with my work email and an ongoing promotion, but support got it sorted. The AI is good too—I’ve used it quite a bit to write complex code and create personalized formulas with custom values. All in all, I’m very satisfied with Notion. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Notion?

I’d love to see more spreadsheet options so I can do more of what a typical Excel sheet can do. Notion has helped my business heaps overall, but this is one feature I’d really like to have. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Notion solving and how is that benefiting you?

Notion keeps my internal organization on track. We keep all our clients, photoshoots, and video work for different clients in Notion, which makes invoicing a breeze. “Excellent Real-Time Collaboration and a Surprisingly Handy Mobile App”
What do you like best about Smartsheet?

The collaboration features are excellent. Multiple people can work on the same sheet simultaneously and see changes in real time, which has made team projects run much smoother. The mobile app is also surprisingly useful for checking in on progress when I'm away from my desk. It's reliable and we haven't experienced any major downtime since we started using it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Smartsheet?

The pricing model can get a bit confusing, especially when you start adding on premium features. It would be nice if they offered more transparent packages upfront instead of having to dig around to figure out what you actually need. Also, the notification settings can be overwhelming at firstuntil you dial them in. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Smartsheet solving and how is that benefiting you?

We were drowning in scattered information across different tools and platforms. Smartsheet brought everything together into one central workspace. “A Modern, User-Friendly ERP That Transformed Our Operations”
What do you like best about Acumatica?

I love how intuitive and easy Acumatica is to use, especially compared to our old DOS-based system. The financial controls and transparency it provides are a game changer—credit holds and pricing controls are now enforced, which was impossible before. Our warehouse has been completely transformed with the bin system and pick-pack path: we now have structure, order, and full visibility into inventory locations. Training new staff is quick and easy, and dashboards keep our sales team motivated. The mobile expense management is also a huge plus for our remote team. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Acumatica?

The only aspect I wish we could improve is leveraging the AI-driven forecasting in purchasing. Right now, due to market volatility and limited historical data, we can't fully rely on it yet. Some legacy staff struggled with the increased controls and structure, and the change management was tough for a few people. Otherwise, there are no major complaints—the implementation was the easiest I've ever done. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Acumatica solving and how is that benefiting you?

“Why Procore is an Estimator’s Best Friend”
What do you like best about Procore?

Procore is an excellent, user-friendly platform that centralizes our entire preconstruction process. The biggest upside for my daily estimating work is having contractor directories, active project bids, and all associated documents completely organized in one single space. I do not have to worry I am bidding from an outdated set of plans. Because it is an industry standard, most of our partners and contractors already use it, which makes collaboration seamless. I also recently completed an estimating certification and was impressed to discover even more hidden features and tools Procore offers that will continue to improve our workflow. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Procore?

I would say the one downside of Procore is that its effectiveness relies entirely on 100% user adoption across the board. While many of our industry partners use it, some contractors, subcontractors or vendors resist using the platform altogether. When a subcontractor refuses to submit their bid or documents through the portal, it forces us to manually bridge the gap, which temporarily defeats the purpose of having a single automated system. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Procore solving and how is that benefiting you?

How it benefits me in my day to day estimating is the centralized contractor directories, open project bids, and blueprints are in one single cloud-based repository. I don't have to waste my time hunting through different folders, emails, or internal servers. Everything I need to price a project is instantly accessible in one space. The other great benefit to an estimator is I know I am not bidding from outdated plans. We all know there are going to revisions and updated drawings and there is nothing worse than sending in your bid on what you thought were the latest plans. Procore syncs the latest drawing sets, RFIs, and addendums in real-time, instantly notifying all parties of revisions which is a huge asset for eliminating financial risk and preventing costly mistakes before a project even kicks off. What do you like best about GCPay?

GCPay helps us keep AIA invoicing up to date and easy to track. Pay applications can be submitted either through the software or by email as a PDF, which keeps the process straightforward and easy to follow.

Support is always quick to respond, and the software integrates easily with our clients. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about GCPay?

It would be helpful to be able to edit items that have been approved but not yet sent. For example, a change order might be approved but still need additional information once it’s viewed in the pay app. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is GCPay solving and how is that benefiting you?

GCPay shows all open projects along with the most recently submitted pay apps, which makes it much easier to stay organized and manage projects efficiently. Before using GCPay, we spent a lot of time each month just confirming which pay app had actually been submitted. “Accessible Anywhere with Reports I Rely On”
What do you like best about BigTime?

I like that BigTime is accessible from anywhere, so I can record my time wherever I happen to be working. The reports are the part I rely on most. They let me reconcile the hours I've recorded, which means I'm not going back to make corrections at the end of the month. It's also a direct way to report my activities to management and accounting, so everyone is working from the same information. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about BigTime?

Nothing really stands out as a drawback for me. I mainly use BigTime to record my time and pull reports, and in that part of the product I haven't run into anything that slows me down. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is BigTime solving and how is that benefiting you?

“Seamless Tool Integration and Intuitive Setup”
What do you like best about Syncro?

I really like that Syncro can be integrated into many tools that I already own as a business, like Domotz and Hudu. I appreciate how I can customize the worksheets to help employees follow a set of instructions, and I find the batch scripts helpful because they allow me to install the same program on many computers with just a click, which saves time. I also like that it's capable of working with AI tools like Claude, making documentation about reports or incidents consistent and helping employees apply it consistently. Additionally, the initial setup of Syncro was pretty easy, especially when adding new users, as it was intuitive for them to create their credentials. Granting access to the platform was very easy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Syncro?

The fact that the worksheets don't always attach to the type of ticket they belong to is a bit frustrating. I have to manually attach them with tickets like onboardings. It would be better if we could create a ticket type and have the worksheet applied directly to that type of ticket. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Syncro solving and how is that benefiting you?

I use Syncro to keep billing, devices, and service requests in order, handling billing by logged hours efficiently. “Intuitive NetSuite with a Powerful Search Bar and Smooth Salesforce Integration”
What do you like best about NetSuite?

What I really enjoy is a search bar that I use every day. I don't need to remember any particular transactions, I just need to type it and I will find it!. What I also enjoy from AR perspective team is how intuitive it is to issue invoices, create sales orders or apply payments. Creating journals is also very easy. When we have a new joiner, there's no particular training on Netsuite needed as most of the people can get the grip of navigating the NS very easily.

We also have a very good integration with Salesforce through Workato, which speeds up out team's work a lot. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about NetSuite?

“A Breath of Fresh Air: Fast, Fluid, Industry-Savvy Autotask Experience”
What do you like best about Autotask?

Coming from ConnectWise Manage, Autotask has been a breath of fresh air for me. Performance has been excellent, and the overall user experience feels much more fluid—like it was designed by people who have actually worked in this industry. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Autotask?

This isn’t really a negative, but the AI isn’t quite up to par yet. That seems to be a common theme across nearly all vendors that include AI components. We’re still working to fine-tune how AI can best improve our workflows and customer experience, while also trying to balance the seemingly impossible task of forecasting costs accurately. I’m confident it will continue to mature and improve over time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Autotask solving and how is that benefiting you?

Integrated Customer Billing is helping reduce the heavy burden of reconciling tools with contracts. For example, I have a customer with 100 workstations in the contract, but the RMM shows 115 devices. In the past, this always had to be investigated manually. “Excellent Timesheets and Centralized Project Info, Backed by Great Onboarding”
What do you like best about CMap?

Brings a lot of project information into one place. The timesheet features are just excellent.

Kyle Lawton's onboarding sessions were also excellent. He was knowledgeable, patient, and took the time to explain the platform practically, making it easy to understand the core functionality and how it could be applied within our business. Despite some adoption challenges, the onboarding experience itself was very positive and well delivered. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about CMap?

One challenge has been getting everyone to use CMap consistently. We still rely on other tools in parallel, so some information ends up spread across different systems. As a result, I don't think we're making full use of what CMap can do yet.

There is also a bit of a learning curve at the start, particularly for new users, but that becomes easier with use and training. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is CMap solving and how is that benefiting you?

CMap is helping us bring project information, resource planning, timesheets, and reporting into one place. It gives better visibility of who is working on what, helps identify workload issues, and makes project tracking easier.

“Robust Multi-Entity Support with Seamless User Management”
What do you like best about Sage Intacct?

I like how Sage Intacct provides a multi-entity friendly environment, which is a huge advantage for our complex multi-entity organization. The ability to migrate clients from QuickBooks to Sage Intacct saves us time and enhances efficiency with more robust reporting capabilities, especially in multi-entity scenarios. The out-of-the-box financial reports are impressive and surpass the legacy systems our clients previously used. Plus, Sage Intacct allows us to use the interactive custom report writer and visual explorer to tailor data displays within our environment. The implementation is fairly seamless given the platform's robustness, and managing user access is easy. It also allows us to get granular with client-specific access rights, which is very convenient. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Sage Intacct?

I would like to see them continue on the AI front. Right now, there needs to be more AI built directly into the system that you interact with in order to keep up with its competitors. “User Friendly Project Management”
What do you like best about Deltek Vantagepoint?

We launched Vantagepoint on June 23, 2025 and it went a lot smoother than expected. The user friendly interfaces are intuitive for our users and the dashboards give great visibility into their projects. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Deltek Vantagepoint?

- A lot of the material in the Learning Hub and help documentation is outdated. Trying to follow the steps is often guesswork as they no longer relate to the current system

- it seems that sharing ideas to the Idea Portal is of no use. There are many great ideas that seem to be simple fixes but have been sitting there for literal years.

- known defects within the system take a long time to be resolved

- invoice template editor isn't user friendly, also there is no ability to edit number of decimal places for percent complete Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

“Modern, Intuitive ERP with Standout AI (Aura) and Close Management”
What do you like best about Rillet?

Rillet is a modern ERP with an intuitive interface that genuinely puts customers in the driver's seat. The AI capabilities are where it stands out, specially Aura, which handles the routine work like bank reconciliation, accruals, and flux analysis automatically. The close management tools are also a real differentiator: there's a built-in checklist, automated reconciliations, and prepaid expense tracking that used to require manual effort. The integrations with our existing tech stack were straightforward to set up, and the pace at which the platform keeps improving has been noticeable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Rillet?

Rillet is clearly built for the modern finance stack, and it does that very well. If you're in GovCon and need a DCAA-approved accounting system, that's a specific niche it isn't yet designed for, which is worth knowing if you're in that space. For everything else, it covers the bases. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Rillet solving and how is that benefiting you?

Rillet has completely transformed what my team spends time on. What used to be data entry and manual reconciliation is now handled automatically, which has freed up real capacity to focus on more advanced, higher-value work. The AI takes care of the prep, which means we're spending our time reviewing and making decisions rather than building from scratch every month. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
