Well, to say it lightly, I am appalled at the way Custom Proposals functions. To simply merge out a resume, there are dozens of steps before and after merging out the Word document that one has to do to simply make a resume halfway decent! Deltek completely ignored marketing's importance and valuable time when developing VantagePoint. To merge one resume, our marketing team has spent weeks, even working with a consultant, JUST to create a template that works. NOW that we have a pseudo-functioning template, the Word document inserts page breaks, section breaks, and line breaks EVERYWHERE with no consistency. We have even gone as far as creating Macros to try and streamline the process to no avail. Descriptions are coming in as a footer, spacing is completely off and inconsistent, there are hard returns everywhere, and the list goes on. It will take us 30 minutes just to format one resume that merges out of VP to send to a client. I have not even mentioned the consistency among TMs merging out and formatting these resumes. To keep a brand consistent, your message and work product must be consistent and VP has completely missed the mark on this. Totally disappointed. On top of all this, VantagePoint only offers Google fonts as an option... great, we can't even use our branded font in our resumes. This is all ONLY for one resume! You can't build a report that incorporates Project standing with the inclusion of all EAC data and internal business profits. You have to pull 3-4 separate reports to get all the data and then combine outside the platform in something like Excel. We should be able to be much more agile in the way we create our reports within VP. We should not have to purchase more platforms to make that happen. It's truly disappointing. **What problems is Deltek Vantagepoint solving and how is that benefiting you?** Not much. The customer support lacks people who know how to troubleshoot issues along Accounting and Project Planning. Many a time, our support tickets are answered with 1-2 line responses that are meaningless. We never come away from a support ticket feeling like we got money's worth and solid answers to the questions. We seem to have to go out on our own (internet) and find solutions. You really need to "beef up" your knowledge base. ### 14. I wish we could at least move the Approval Workflows to the Web Application. They make monthly reporting easier. Also the sorting capabilities for invoicing saves a lot of time, especially when using invoicing approvals. Saves so much time and paper. For example there are so many screens to go through just to set up a project. In Vision you were able to complete one screen & have it filter to all other screens. We use the information available to establish Executive Project Reviews and learn what went well on a project and what went not so well. It is a great resource for this review! **What do you dislike about Deltek Vantagepoint?** We are working towards an understanding of Earned Value for our project managers. We need to work with Deltek and its partners to find a solution that will work best for our company. Right now, we are struggling to find the right or best solution. **What problems is Deltek Vantagepoint solving and how is that benefiting you?** It is a wonderful tool for overall project management and resource allocation, we just need to get all our PMs on board with allocating resources in Planning. The planning process is great especially for the few of us that have projects that extend well beyond one year. ### 49. The user defined fields and custom hubs are very cool and helpful. That flexibility allows VP to cater to companies of all sizes. **What do you dislike about Deltek Vantagepoint?** It's a module based product and if you don't have all the modules you feel like you are missing out. It's very expensive. For a smaller to midsize company the cost can be difficult to justify. Our project managers and less frequent users (outside of accounting and IT) have had trouble learning to use the product. If they don't set projects up everyday they make a lot of repeat mistakes. **What problems is Deltek Vantagepoint solving and how is that benefiting you?** Time and expense management is fantastic. It also helps us keep track of projects that span multiple profit centers.
