What do you like best about Instantly?

Cold email campaigns can fail before anyone even reads the first message. Sometimes the issue isn’t the copy, the offer, or the subject line; it’s poorly prepared domains, messy lead lists, missing data, or automations that aren’t connected to the rest of the workflow. That’s where Instantly has been useful for me. It doesn’t treat cold email as a separate task. Instead, it pulls sending accounts, warmup, leads, campaigns, replies, CRM activity, and automations into a single flow that’s much easier to manage. Having multiple accounts, warmup, and inbox rotation also helps a lot when you want to scale without putting all the pressure on one inbox. From a developer’s perspective, that matters because we often end up supporting domains, DNS, tracking, integrations, and the events marketing needs so the campaign isn’t just about sending more emails and hoping for the best. What do you dislike about Instantly?

I wouldn’t say I’ve had a bad experience with Instantly, but it’s definitely the kind of platform where a poor setup becomes obvious quickly. If your domains aren’t ready, your leads aren’t clean, or your team doesn’t fully understand how campaigns, accounts, and replies connect, it’s easy to blame the tool when the real issue is the process behind it. What problems is Instantly solving and how is that benefiting you?

We had an outbound campaign running for several days, and the team was convinced the messaging was the problem. Reply rates were low, and marketing was already preparing a completely new version of the sequence. Before changing everything, we stepped back and reviewed the campaign from the technical side: connected accounts, inbox rotation, custom fields, uploaded segments, and the events we were sending back into the CRM. The real issue was hiding in the data. Part of the lead list came from a different source, and the industry field wasn’t properly normalized. As a result, some of the personalized lines either sounded too generic or didn’t add any real context. We fixed the upload process, cleaned up that property, and adjusted the segmentation before relaunching. Instantly helped because the whole flow was centralized enough to trace what was happening across leads, campaigns, replies, and account status. The real lesson for me is that outbound does not improve only by writing better emails. What do you like best about Constant Contact?

What I like best about Constant Contact is that it handles the core email marketing work pretty well without making everything feel like a big project. Building campaigns, managing lists, using templates, and getting emails out the door are all straightforward enough that non-technical users can usually work in it without needing IT to sit beside them the whole time.

It’s also reasonably priced for what it is, especially compared with some platforms that start simple and then get expensive the second you need normal business features. Constant Contact also offers prepay savings, including nonprofit discounts, which is helpful for organizations that have to be careful with their budget.

The support side is another plus. I like that phone support is still available, because many SaaS tools have pushed everyone into chatbots, forums, or help articles. Constant Contact isn’t perfect, but when there’s an account, billing, or campaign issue, being able to talk to an actual person makes cleanup a lot easier. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Constant Contact?

The biggest frustration for me has been account and subaccount administration. Constant Contact works fine once people are in and using it, but the setup can get a little confusing when you’re supporting multiple teams, departments, or locations under one broader organization.

The ownership model is the part that feels a bit awkward from an IT operations standpoint. Constant Contact does have user roles like Account Manager and Campaign Creator, which are helpful, but the Account Owner still seems to be the control point for billing, ownership, and higher-level account management. That can make it harder to build a clean structure where a central admin team has oversight while each team still has the right level of access to manage its own campaigns.

The recovery process is also something I’d like to see improved. If the original account owner leaves the company, you may have to involve support to transfer or recover ownership. To be fair, that’s not uncommon with SaaS tools, and there are security reasons for it. But from an admin perspective, it creates additional risk and cleanup work that could be avoided with stronger centralized admin controls. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Constant Contact solving and how is that benefiting you?

Constant Contact solves a pretty straightforward problem for us: we need one place to store and manage contacts, then use those contacts for periodic campaigns without having to reinvent the wheel every time.

For our use case, the benefit is that contacts can be organized into lists or segments, and then we can quickly build a short-lived campaign when we need to communicate with a specific audience. That might be a seasonal message, a one-off update, or a focused campaign that only runs for a limited period. Constant Contact makes that kind of work easier because the contact management, templates, sending, and basic reporting are all in one place.

What do you dislike about lemlist?

I don't actually see any current downsides; the tool performs exactly as promised.

My only piece of advice would be to continue innovating towards a simplified, fully automated workflow. My ultimate goal, and I think the ultimate goal for any tool today, is the ability to have a simple, central AI chat interface in the middle of the screen that manages every step for us—from segmenting prospects to drafting personalized intros and launching the entire campaign.

What problems is lemlist solving and how is that benefiting you?

Lemlist is solving the main problem in cold emailing: generic, low-engagement outreach that just gets filtered into the spam folder.

It solves this in two ways, which are huge benefits for me:

Solving the 'Black Box' Problem (Transparency): Before Lemlist, I was basically sending emails into a black box. Now, I have full transparency. I can see exactly who is engaging with the content and who isn't. This lets me focus my time only on the warmest leads. The benefit is clear: maximum efficiency and no wasted time.

Solving the 'Personalization at Scale' Problem (AI): The biggest challenge is always writing personalized text for hundreds of people. The AI part of Lemlist solves this by making personalization scalable. I can craft hyper-relevant intros and content, making the prospect feel like the email was written just for them.

The ultimate benefit? Higher engagement, better reply rates, and turning cold prospects into actual conversations.

So far, the only thing I’ve found that felt truly like Sender’s fault was their customer service chat. It took a bit longer than I expected, although the wait time was still reasonable. The bigger issue wasn’t the delay, but how robotic the support agent came across. The grammar was flawless, but the replies felt overly calculated and not very human. I’m still not convinced it was a real person, and I even asked whether it was human. I was intentionally casual and laid-back, and “Lucas” didn’t respond very warmly. There’s a learning curve

The interface is simple, but it does take a few days to fully grasp how to use Sheets, merge tags, and campaign scheduling. Thankfully, the GMass blog and help docs are solid. Once you’re in the flow, it’s second nature.

It’s not the cheapest option

At $25/month, GMass might seem expensive compared to some email tools. But considering the features, flexibility, and Gmail-native experience, it more than pays for itself. Especially when you factor in saved time and increased deliverability.

Test your emails first

Very very little. I chose Apollo primarily for its extensive B2B contact database and API capabilities. In theory, the data coverage looked strong for sales prospecting and automation workflows but the results were not even close to what I expected.

However, I never got the chance to fully experience any real benefits. I purchased a subscription that included monthly API credits, but near the end (not at the end) of my billing cycle I still had ~1,360 credits remaining when the API started returning billing errors. I was locked out before I could meaningfully use the service for any prospecting or data enrichment tasks.

What do you dislike about Apollo.io?

The billing and credit system is predatory and poorly designed. I paid for a subscription that included a specific number of monthly API credits. With approximately 1,360 credits still unused near the end of the billing period, the API began returning billing-related errors that completely blocked access before the billing period actually ended.

I immediately contacted Apollo support requesting assistance to restore access so I could use the credits I had already paid for. Support refused to help and explicitly stated that nothing would be done unless I renewed or purchased another subscription. Extortion much?

This is unacceptable. Customers should be able to use the credits they prepaid during the active billing cycle. Instead, Apollo effectively made my remaining credits worthless unless I paid them more money. Their support response felt like deliberate extortion rather than customer service.

This experience left me with a very negative view of their business practices. I lost access to a significant portion of the service I paid for with zero meaningful remedy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Apollo.io solving and how is that benefiting you?

Unfortunately, Apollo.io did not solve any meaningful problems for me. I signed up intending to use it for B2B data enrichment, contact sourcing, and API-driven automation workflows. However, I was never able to reach that point due to hallucination and billing/access issues.

Near the end (not at the end) of my paid billing cycle, with ~1,360 API credits still available, the platform started returning billing errors that prevented any further usage. Support refused to restore access unless I paid for another subscription. As a result, I received essentially zero benefit from the service despite paying in full.

The only clear outcome was that my wallet became noticeably lighter while Apollo retained my money for credits I was blocked from using. Dotdigital has a great and intuitive platform that I've been using for many years. It has grown and evolved over time, with new features, but continues to be very user friendly. I love how the platform can integrate easily with our website, allowing data to flow in making for smart segmentation and automation. We've seen great ROI on our abandoned basket emails, delivering great engagement and conversion rates. The support teams behind the platform have also been exceptional. We've been put on a plan that has helped us scale the usage as we've scaled in incremental fashion, rather than spilling over and having to pay for a bigger plan than is required at that time. The AI tools inside the platform via WinstonAI has been extremely helpful too, making great suggestions to subject lines and content which has improved open rate and engagement. I'm not overly keen on is the ecommerce blocks. While the idea behind them is great. The styling leaves a lot to be desired and I tend not to use them as a result.
