**What do you like best about Karbon?**

Karbon works great for project management, checklists, client communication, scheduling out the projects on a calendar, and internal team communication (and there are probably more features I don't use). The best part about it is that when we started using Karbon, there was no functionality that would tie to my outlook calendar, but their development team listened to their customer base feedback and rolled out a calendar feature called My Week earlier this year. I have been very happy with the software and can't recommend Karbon enough. Thank you Karbon for helping our firm's bottom line along with helping me find a work/life balance as a small firm owner. We were lost without you, I would never go back.

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

It is rare, but sometimes the system lags or goes down completely. I know that the developers are working to correct these issues, and they have been great at receiving feedback and implementing changes in the past, so I know they'll address these issues and make the software stronger.

**What problems is Karbon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We were having problems with projects slipping through the cracks. Excel sheets were not cutting it. Karbon helps us track the project so that our team knows what they're supposed to be working on and when. It also tracks client communication as a CRM so all team members have visibility into the client communication.

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

While Karbon offers great features, there are a couple of areas that could be improved. One is their email functionality, which unfortunately doesn't let you mark emails as spam or report phishing. This can be a bit of a setback for organizations trying to ensure safety and compliance. Additionally, some workflows could be made more efficient. For example, by integrating roles within client teams and linking them to automators, staffing changes could be easily managed across all of Karbon's works. This would save us time and effort while ensuring consistency throughout the platform.

Karbon enhances our productivity with automation and clear work item management, including defined deadlines. It streamlines processes, automates repetitive tasks, and provides a clear overview of work items, ensuring efficient prioritization and goal achievement.

**What do you like best about Karbon?**

Karbon brings all our essential tasks and communication into one platform with clear transparency. I've used Karbon to systemize and streamline how services are delivered while having enough flexibility to customize the specific details/processes for each client. I can assign tasks to team members directly from emails received from clients, which saves a ton of time, and by doing it this way, I am looped into the conversation when my team member picks up the work and responds to the client. As the owner, I can see progress on tasks and view communications to/from clients even when I am not part of the conversation. Karbon allows us to connect emails directly to tasks, so all relevant communication is where you need it instead of digging through email, and we can add notes and internal communication as well.    It's been a game changer in y business and ideal for a remote team.  
The customer support is excellent.  They host a very active community forum page where they regularly glean new ideas and improvements to take to their development team.  I feel like they care about their clients and are developing this product so I can be successful.

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

I am still waiting for more audit trails and time-stamped time cards.  But the program integrates nicely with QB Time which provides both of those.  My only other complaint is I can't seem to get the face palm emoji in the comments section, which I would use more than I should as I am trying to keep a positive spin on things (complain about clients less), so I guess it's best it isn't there.

Karbon brings transparency to our work and communications.  Karbon saves so much time by streamlining how we assign work and connect communications to tasks.

**What do you like best about Karbon?**

Karbon is a great task management tool that helps you stay on top of all emails and projects —no more time wasted searching for needed emails, creating to-do lists, and delegating and tracking tasks. It allows easily collaborate with other team members and even external users. By joining the Karbon world, we put all company's projects at our fingertips.

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

I love everything about this tool. It took some time to master all the tricks and tips, but you can't stop using them once you get them. The reporting tab might be added to the insights model to track and print out all the company's and projects' KPIs and desired metrics (for management purposes).

**What problems is Karbon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps my company to quickly onboard new clients, efficiently manage recurring tasks, and never miss deadlines. Karbon brings transparency and visibility to all working processes and allows efficiently collaborate and share experiences with colleagues.

**What do you like best about Karbon?**

The most helpful thing Karbon has to offer is keeping everything in one place. If a client calls in and starts discussing something that my colleague has been dealing with, I can go to the client's account in Karbon and review any emails, notes or work being worked on in real-time.

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

Although Karbon has a lot of great features, just like any CRM, it does have some disadvantages. I have run into situations where emails are lost or not accessible in Karbon at all. I have noticed that if we do not have an account for an individual, their email does not show up in triage or Karbon at all.

**What problems is Karbon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The biggest issue within our business that Karbon is helping with is communication! I am aware of any situation that our clients are having because everything is in one place.

My favourite is the transparency of emails/timelines, and workloads & statuses.

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

The only complaint I have so far is that our team has to go in and turn-on email sharing themselves, rather than admins being able to require it.

They are constantly improving the software! Most recently they improved the overview for individual work view (My Week). Releasing soon is document integration (e.g. Sharepoint). In the works is Calendar integration and more!

**What do you like best about Karbon?**

We use Karbon for task tracking, projects, new client onboarding, reports, and a communication tool for our staff.  

We have templates setup for our core processes in a checklist format with additional instructions embedded within the task.

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

The downside might be the price.  It isn't cheap but it works and the time savings is substantial.  I wish there was an way to create data forms within Karbon so that we could gather information easier from clients, especailly during the onboarding process.

Workflows are great. Having client tasks has been a God sent! The interaction within the system is amazing!

I would like for Karbon to help with the fonts and templates. Having something we can bring in and use with the professional look.

We have been consistent in our processes and allowing us to make sure we do not miss any steps. The ability to add more task for an individiual client and it creates it in the recurring workflow is awesome. Then to have the ability to create a  task clients' communication built-in is also a time saver and reduces email!!!

How emails can be added to tasks.
Organization is most helpful. Keeping organized and up to date to make sure tasks are completed on time. I also really like the status features for each client.

Creating recurring items can be tricky.
I need a little more training on creating recurring tasks. Im sure once I figure out how to do it it will be easy enough.

It is definitely making our virtual bookkeeping team to be able to keep in sync alot more easily. It sorts & organizes emails/tasks so nicely!

**What do you like best about Karbon?**

We manage many clients' engagements, and keeping track of communications, attachments, due dates, etc., became very cumbersome. Karbon helped us organize our workflows and gave us a central location for our client work. It allows us to view progress at a macro and micro level and, if needed, communicate directly with team members on any given task or work item. The client task requests are a game changer and cuts down on requests for documents and information.

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

Though Karbon integrates very well with email, I wish there was a way to manage spam other than to clear it from the Triage. It's not a full-fledged email client, so I can understand it missing some features, but further development in that area could make it so I rarely have to log in to my email account directly to manage spam or create rules for specific emails.

**What problems is Karbon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We needed a central location for all of our tasks, client communications, and documents. Karbon solved all of those issues very efficiently in a way that did not require a TON of additional training. We can set up recurring work items and tasks easily and love the ability for our senior team to check in on work without a lot of back and forth between them and the team members. We also benefited from additional support from Karbon when we initially implemented the system and when we integrated new features into our operations.

I love all aspects of Karbon. It has made me reimagine the way I approach emails and work organization and has helped me feel more on top of my work. I love the ability to assign work to myself or a colleague and set a due date, and I love the timelines for contacts - such a great way to organize all related emails together.

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

Nothing comes to mind. One of my favourite recent developments in Karbon is the ability to schedule emails for a future send-out date. Thank you for adding that on!

**What problems is Karbon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Main problem for me - organizing my various work projects and keeping track of related emails/notes/information and delegating those within my team. Also, having visibility into my team's workplates. Karbon is hitting the nail on the head with these! We will soon likely try out Karbon's time tracking feature as well. It will be great to tie work to time.

**What do you like best about Karbon?**

Being able to view all email communications with a client is absolutely a game changer when you have multiple team members contacting the same person, or needing to find info from conversations with another team member. And making comments and tagging people! It's like facebook for workflows and the ease of communication is so key in our team's work management.

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

There seem to be a lot of recent updates on Karbon KPIs, which, as far as I have seen, are not what people are asking for the most. We are looking for certain features to be improved on such as being able to send the client requests to multiple people at once, yet it seems that has been put on hold in favour of something that is virtually useless to our team.

Transparency of client communication across the firm. It has benefited our team immensely as we can find conversations that we weren't even necessarily a part of in an easy, searchable format to more readily assist a client when needed.

The triage where you can assign or clear emails is my favorite part.

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

No reminders for work due for the week. I still have to utilize calendar reminders a lot to remember to complete items.

Tracking the status of works and being able to build out workflows so the team can pick up for someone else if needed. It definitely helps to see status without having to reach out to team members to see where they are with things, especially time-sensitive items like taxes or payrolls.

**What do you like best about Karbon?**

Karbon has excellent customer support.
Karbon invests in its open API. Many of the staff are willing to help implement DIY customizations.
Karbon is also flexible enough that we can make it work for our firm's working style.
The entire company engages the customers and works hard to improve the software based on real-world feedback.

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

I would also like to see better control over kanban boards, specifically the ability to sort columns outside of the five main categories. I would also like to see more CRM tools like batch emails, tags, SMS campaigns, etc.

**Recommendations to others considering Karbon:**

Commit yourself to the training and be willing to let go of the "old ways" of doing work.

**What problems is Karbon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before we switched to Karbon, our clients complained about submitting documents to our portal. Karbon's hybrid portal achieves the security and frictionless access our clients wanted.
Karbon provides excellent visibility on workflow.

Being able to communicate with my team directly on the emails, tasks, and work items related to a client gives us an unmatched opportunity to appear as a unified team to our clients.

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

Some of the features could be more optimized. When searching up a client's name to tag something to a work item, the options are not tailored to the works that are most relevant to the client at the time.

Karbon allows us to work as a unit on a client's work, because everyone has the ability to see everything related to that work item and can respond with a more full-picture understanding of the client's situation.

In the inability to do a select all to add a new user to a contact in Karbon. I would like to add a new user to multiple contacts at once.

**What do you like best about Karbon?**

Where do I start? Client portal, yes, it's got that.  Client task lists with doc uploads and comments. Yes, it has that too. Automated reminders?  Check. Clients comment on our excellent personal communication. We don't tell them it's automated.  Karbon work templates help keep my staff on task, and I can track their progress.  Oh! Did I mention integration with our document storage so everything is in one place? YES!!! I can't believe it took me so long to get my firm on Karbon. No matter how many calls I get from other software providers, Karbon is stuck with my firm for life.  Thanks, Karbon!

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

In a perfect world, Karbon would have multiple timers for client work. It's a pain when a client calls with work, and you already have a timer running.  That being said, Karbon has a community forum where you can post your requests and ideas for upgrades.  Others can vote if they like your suggestion or comment on a workaround.  Fingers crossed, three of my suggestions are "gathering interest."

Karbon has assisted our firm in communications, workflow optimization and staff accountability.  Clients get personalized reminders and tasks from staff which improves customer service. Work templates allow staff to onboard new clients and new projects quickly. Firm standards aren't compromised

**What do you like best about Karbon?**

Managing email through Triage and My Week is novel and much more effective than managing one's work life the typical way, through an email inbox.  Moreover, the ability to assign emails to staff for action/follow up, comment and @ mention staff on emails, and the fact that emails are visible to staff even if they weren't copied on the message facilitates team collaboration and streamlines everyone's work.

Managing client work through Karbon work items, especially being able to create standardized work templates and repeating work, is how our firm stays organized.  We've recently integrated timekeeping in Karbon (through an integration with QuickBooks Time) and are now using Karbon to manage our project budgets.  Our next steps are to begin managing our firm's capacity using Karbon.

Where Karbon particularly excels is in the integration with other key apps.  Our tech stack includes Ignition (proposals) and QuickBooks Time (staff time tracking).  When a client signs a proposal, these integrations allow for automated creation of the new client in Karbon & QB Time, automated creation of Karbon work items from templates, and automated setup of related time codes in QB Time.  This results in significant time savings and allows us to focus on the more meaningful aspects of client onboarding to enhance the client experience.

Karbon has a vibrant user community, and they regularly provide helpful content for accounting practitioners in the form of blog posts/email newsletters and engaging webinars.  Many of our staff enjoy scouring the Karbon Community site for past webinars on topics relevant to our firm and share them across our firm.

Lastly, I'm amazed at how regularly Karbon updates/upgrades the software and adds new functionality.  They listen to their users' requests - users can suggest enhanced features and vote on others' suggestions).  This tool keeps getting better each year.

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

Karbon doesn't do email signatures well - we use CodeTwo as a simple and inexpensive way to get around this.

Karbon's calendar functionality is limited, so we still use Outlook to manage our calendars.

There isn't currently a way to have an assistant manage your Triage on your behalf i.e. delegate access like you'd find in Outlook.

We have put in several enhancement requests - to better customize views in My Week, date formatting in repeating work items, etc.  None of these are reasons not to use Karbon, but they are tweaks that would make working in Karbon even more delightful.

**What problems is Karbon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Karbon helps us standardize our workflows, keep track of ownership and status of client deliverables, manage our budgets for client deliverables, and use email more effectively.

Karbon has integrations to further automation. We connect to our contract software that helps us kick off projects faster. Our contracts and agreements quickly turn in to work and tasks ready to be scheduled and assigned.

Not having WIP management built-in makes my job harder than it needs to be. In order to ensure I bill everything I need to, I have to use three different software platforms, which is annoying.

The 2 things I find most useful and that I use the most, is the email triage/filing system, and the recurring task checklists. Client requests are also great, but the other 2 functions I can't live without.

The biggest downside for me as a micro business is the cost. However, I try to justify it to myself by looking at the cost as a wage for an assistant, which then becomes more viable in my mind.

Recurring work items with the checklists is the biggest problem solver for me, making sure that even in my busiest periods I don't miss any important steps along the way.

Karbon is great at keeping me on track with what has been done and what still needs to be done.  I love being able to communicate internally about clients and client requests.

There isn't much I dislike.  I wish it was integrated with Google Drive, but there are workarounds.  I wish we could text multiple people (outside our organization) simultaneously and have all text conversations show up in Karbon.  For example, if I need to text the client, the entity's manager, and the CPA at the same time.

They are working on texting; you can now text with one person in Karbon.  They have come up with a solution to not integrating with Google Drive.  I love having the files in the work item.

On My Week, I can't assign some tasks/work for today. Sometimes I can find my self scrolling down my week to search what I still need to complete today. Moving it to Working On Now is also not the best because I'm working on a lot of projects everyday.

We used Trello before Karbon, we always struggled to be able to see all open works that we had for a specific client since we had multiple boards for each type of work. With Karbon, I can go to the client's profile/or filter the work view and see all worse related to the client. I can even see it on a group level!

The most valuable part of Karbon is the ability to discuss/query things with clients via Checklist-style query lists. This way, they can go back to me with whatever they can with as many answers as they are able at the time and add new things when possible instead of sending me 15 e-mails with answers and attachments. It's all in one place. I can't stress enough how much difference this makes.

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

I want to be able to mark an e-mail to be a task in a task list. I am aware of the fact that I can add it to work, but that is not enough. Some Clients like to send things in many e-mails. It would be handy to push them through as, for example, 50 tasks on a task list in 1 work and tick them off as needed.

**What problems is Karbon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Once I have automated some tasks, it is beneficial that at specific points in time, Karbon reminds Clients to send me the information I need to complete some work for them on time. One less thing for me to worry about and keep track of! Karbon does it for me.

I've been using Karbon for over a year following trialing several different accountancy CRMs and have found this to be the best in terms of simplicity, existing work templates that are built in and fully customisable and makes it very easy to manage tasks, deadlines and also monitoring colleague progress on tasks etc.
Great value for money for a new startup bookkeeping & payroll firm like myself and love the recurring task and email chase functions as it hugely reduces company admin time.

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

Very few billing options for most clients. In order to set up a direct debit you must pay over £10,000 per month in subscription fees so most firms have to pay by recurring card payments only.

**What problems is Karbon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Monitoring client tasks and prioritising by deadline order. I also like the automated due date on individual tasks based on the job's due date overall. This prevents work from being completed at the last minute.

There are certain functionalities that it doesn't make sense that aren't available - such being able to bulk assign items in triage. For example, I get 15-20 emails on Thursday mornings from the same client for bills, and I have to manually assign each one to the client/work item.

Just having everything in one place, email, communications with the team, time tracking, client information, work items, to-do's, etc. Before, we had to use 3-5 different softwares to accomplish this.

Karbon has brought our entire practice together in one place. We currently use the platform as a workplace tool for internal communication, client correspondence, recording time spent on client tasks, tracking budgets, and drawing reports on team performance.

Unfortunately, not all the "insight" features for tracking the team's performance are available on the standard monthly subscription. We would love to see more features made available.

My favourite feature is how you can add an email to your future work tasks so that you don't forget to action it, but can clear it from your inbox. After trying several other workflows for managing client bookkeeping, Karbon is far superior and worth the investment.
