As a sole tax practitioner, I don't need to coordinate schedules with others, but I do need an effective way to monitor the progress of my work projects. Before I started using Karbon, I relied on a paper matrix to keep track of my project workflow—which was both time-consuming and often confusing. With Karbon, I can create workflow templates for different types of projects, such as individual tax returns, business tax returns, and quarterly tax reports. These templates include all the necessary steps for each project, and I can easily update the status of each step as I go. The "To Do" feature in Karbon is especially helpful for managing short-term tasks, like calling a tax agency on behalf of a client or getting a client to sign a POA (tax Power of Attorney). I use Karbon daily as Karbon simplifies my workflow. Karbon has added many functions in the past 2-3 years. So many in fact that I have not been able to explore all of them. However, I can say that so far there is nothing I dislike about Karbon. In fact, I look forward to renewing my subscription each year. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The search button is located at the top right corner. This placement may be somewhat inconvenient, as it requires users to navigate to the right side of the screen when most tasks are typically performed on the left. A position on the top left, next to the Karbon logo, would be preferable.

Additionally, I would suggest changing the location of the "details" tab. When entering a new contact, the next tab should ideally be the "details" tab, followed by the work, time/budget, and other sections. Currently, the "details" tab is positioned at the very end, which raises the question of how to enter work details before inputting the contact's information.

I like Karbon for internal and external communication and workflow management. It makes it super easy to create detailed checklists of work at client-specific levels. My favorite thing is being able to have work templates as a starting point, which I can customize to make the workflows as specific as needed by client. It's great that it saves all prior notes and communications as well. The work templates help me save hours because I can use them as a starting point instead of building everything from scratch. I don't like that we used to be able to see the checklists being sent to clients on the timeline and by whom. Now I can't see when the checklists were first sent, how many reminders they've received, etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Karbon helps organize my daily and weekly tasks in a way that is easy to keep me on schedule and lets me easily track down past conversations or involve coworkers on a conversation where I want their input. I wish there was a general folder for items that do not need to be cleared time-sensitively. If I could pin an email to a client where I could easily find it forever, that would be useful. What I liked most about Karbon is how well it supports day-to-day operations. It allowas detailed work items making it easy to track your progress. I think that their workflows are beneficial and when the software is being used to the fullest capability I think it is great. I also like the idea of the time tracking to the client, that is very beneficial to our company and how we assess employees and projects. Our team uses it every day. I think that we were dealt a bad hand when it came to the implementation team, like I said when it is set up well it can do a lot of good, but our Karbon is a mess and while yes it is partially user error, we were never set up well and we just never had the time to clean everything up because there are many issues from implementation. We are a CPA firm so we have a lot of billable hours and a lot of client work to focus on, not so much admin/nonbillable time we are available so when we are fixing it, it usually gets done in our off time. I appreciate that Karbon is a secure place to keep all your work and deliverables organized, especially if you work in a fast-paced environment and need to manage multiple clients at once. The timelines, assignment features, and to-dos all help ensure that nothing falls through the cracks. Additionally, the interface is very clean, which makes your workflow much more efficient. I really like how Karbon serves as a single platform that is user-friendly for both me and my clients. Its strong capabilities with integrations into other useful platforms are a big plus. I find the workflow feature valuable as it allows me to track each job from start to finish, ensuring a timely work product. I dislike Karbon billing. There are still issues when passing on processing fees to the client; sometimes, the fee is charged back to me. Also, clients using debit are charged beyond the maximum amount, which makes them revert to check payment. I think they should make the processing fee more transparent. Karbon is a powerful tool that keeps the team focused on the right work at the right time. Our team adopts it well and our client appreciates the clarity of our requests to them. I use Karbon to manage our accountancy practice, and I find its workflow management quite beneficial. It really helps in managing workloads and each work item by breaking them down into tasks. The automation feature is one of the best things about Karbon as it takes a lot of manual work out of assigning tasks to different people. I also appreciate how tasks can consistently be assigned to the same team member each year, and the way it passes tasks between staff members as the work progresses is really good. Additionally, the onboarding team, especially Aaron, was fantastic during the setup, making our experience as seamless as it could have been given our practice size. The client interface in Karbon is probably its downfall. Clients have to tick a box to manage the checklist, which they find to be their biggest pain point as it's not intuitive or user-friendly.
