## Karbon Reviews
  ### 1. Triage Reminders and Integrations Keep Us Organized—Karbon Keeps Getting Better

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Katina P. | Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 28, 2026

**What do you like best about Karbon?**

Lots to love! I love triage and its reminders to help me stay organized and not forgot to take care of things. We also really love how Karbon is constantly making improvements and upgrades including really awesome integrations!

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

The search function is challenging. Lots of time I have to go to Gmail to find things. Also would like if the sent items retained everything sent that day even if there are replies back and forth over several days. Also would help to see comments made by date somehow.

Would also like to be able to get more practice management out of it including Engagement letter contract management and billing, especially recurring maintenance billing which is most of what we do. I know this is underway though.

**What problems is Karbon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Really improved efficiencies and how to manage things. The integration of triage items to timelines for each client and job and now the added benefit of utilizing the Google Drive integration, it saves a lot of time and hassle.

  ### 2. All in One Workflow Tool for Professional Services

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mitchell B. | Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 25, 2024

**What do you like best about Karbon?**

This software is very user friendly, making it easy on the eyes and not overwhelming. I have used other platforms (Practice Ignition, Asana, etc.) and those tools required more steps and time. I am currently moving my billing to Karbon as they continue to innovate and add on valuable services on their platform.

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

I currently still bill my clients outside of Karbon. They have added payment processing in 2024 which is great. However, I do not see a control over managing fees, as I prefer to pass these to my clients. I do expect to transition over in 20256as simplifying my back-office systems is a high priority and benefit.

**What problems is Karbon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Karbon solves the need to consolidate my processes into one place. This benefits my work as I can do my emails, notes from calls, engagement setup, work tasks, and billing all in one place. This is a huge benefit when you think that some practices or businesses have 3-4 softwares rather than 1 software (Karbon).

  ### 3. KARBON - What more could you want?

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nikki D. | Director, BAS Agent, Office Manager, Bookkeeper, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 15, 2025

**What do you like best about Karbon?**

KARBON is a really easy product to use and navigate. With it's various integrations continually improving, it's bound to be the stand out product in the market for an all-in-one CRM. Setup was easy and painless (from memory), we use it all day, everyday.

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

The 'billing' feature has been a bit clunky in the past, but now with the added integration directly with XERO, I see this being a much smoother process in the future. Customer support can sometime be difficult due to the time differences, so finding your local rep is essential.

**What problems is Karbon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

KARBON is like outlook on steroids - not only does it mirror my outlook inbox, but I can tag the emails to each specific client. These emails and notes are then visible on each client's timeline. I can create work tasks with checklists and set due dates, and also set them up on a recurring schedule so that I don't have to re-create them each week/month/quarter/year, etc. I can delegate work tasks to me team members, and check their progress using 'my week'. My team and I can log times against each work task or just log a time against a specific client. Once work tasks have been completed (or partially completed) I can then complete the end of month billing that integrates directly with my chosen Accounting software. Easy!!

  ### 4. Streamlined Workflow

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Cassandra Z. | Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 27, 2022

**What do you like best about Karbon?**

I like that I can see all my team and their work in Karbon. It's helpful to do e-signatures and send them to my clients. Recording my work, sending out emails, and keeping track of job statuses for lodgments are really convenient with Karbon. It's efficient and productive, giving us more value for money. We're able to fill out more time and make more profit because of the efficiencies.

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

I would love to have a better to-do list. I also would prefer to have a search functionality or, like, filtering in the triage. It would be great to filter per email address similar to Outlook.

**Recommendations to others considering Karbon:**

Take the time to set up properly
Think about how you want this to run for your business.

**What problems is Karbon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Karbon to streamline my workflow, enabling efficient email communication, e-signatures, and team visibility, which enhances productivity and profitability.

  ### 5. Intuitive Navigation and Flexible Views Make Karbon a Joy to Use

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** John B. | Operations Specialist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 29, 2026

**What do you like best about Karbon?**

The navigation and different ways to view work or client information is very intuitive and seamless. I love the my week view to keep track of my schedule, Triage is easy to see things that require my attention and it is easy to move to my week, and the work view has so many variables to sort on that it is hard to not find a view that is helpful.

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

The contacts view is not great. I am not sure why I can download a file of contact info with way more information and the view within Karbon has none of that information. Would love a view that is similar to the Work view.

**What problems is Karbon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easy to track current work, future work, and services provided to current clients.

  ### 6. Streamlined Workflow Management with Stellar Support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sakshi S. | Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 02, 2021

**What do you like best about Karbon?**

I really like the workflow management and timesheet tracking features of Karbon. The timesheet allows us to assess how long a job took, which helps with charging the client accordingly. It's also useful for team productivity, as it shows what work they have on hand and lets the team plan ahead for the week. The initial setup was very easy, and the Karbon team helped us out.

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

I wish clients could see what stage their workflow is at. It would be great if they had a portal where they can log in to see all the workflows we've created, and what's currently in progress or completed.

**What problems is Karbon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Karbon for workflow management, tracking job durations for billing, and improving team productivity and planning.

  ### 7. Perfect for Managing Tax Firm Workflows

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Elizabeth Jolls G. | Managing Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 29, 2026

**What do you like best about Karbon?**

I find Karbon to be an excellent CRM and Project Management system for my tax firm. It integrates well with my tax software, which is really important to me. The templates are extremely helpful, especially in managing a firm or practice in accounting and tax, unlike other project management systems that focus on flashier, creative fields. As a longtime user, I've seen many improvements over time, which I appreciate. Managing 50-100 different projects at once is much easier now, as before, I struggled to keep up with every step of an engagement. With Karbon, once I set up the project, I know exactly where I am. I also had a good personal onboarding experience at the beginning, which made the setup process smooth.

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

I was told there was more integration coming with ProConnect, QuickBooks, Calendly, and SmartVault, I really hope so. I can't really export billable time to QuickBooks, and I would like Karbon to add SmartVault as a DMS, as ProConnect has.

**What problems is Karbon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Karbon effectively manages clients, workflow, and engagements, integrates with my tax software, helps track 50-100 projects effortlessly, and includes beneficial templates designed for accounting and tax firms.

  ### 8. Centralized Excellence with Room for Billing Improvements

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Christopher R. | Financial Analyst, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 29, 2026

**What do you like best about Karbon?**

I really appreciate Karbon's ability to manage email communication through timelines. It's very nice to have a timeline dedicated specifically for work, almost like a dedicated folder, where anything related to a job automatically gets tagged or added into that timeline. This feature stores and saves everything in one location, which I find incredibly helpful. It makes Karbon more valuable by allowing every email from multiple team members to be in one central location, eliminating silos of email communication. This organization helps us stay on top of things and to confirm and track what has been done or sent out without worrying if someone was left out in emails. Additionally, I find that the initial setup of Karbon was fairly straightforward thanks to their good implementation process, making it an intuitive software if you're familiar with project management structures.

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

I think one of the biggest areas of improvement I would like to see is around billing and engagements. Specifically, just flexibility in billing. Everything all our billing for the most part that we run is a fixed flat monthly fee. So I love for those to be able to be auto-drafted without having to go in and send each individual invoice. That's always a big pain when those have to come out.

**What problems is Karbon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Karbon centralizes our practice management, tracking and monitoring work, billing, and timekeeping. It streamlines emails and communication, connecting them directly to tasks, helping track project budgets, and reducing silos in our firm.

  ### 9. Efficient Task Management and Time Tracking with Karbon

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rosalie M. | Accountant/Bookkeeper, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 27, 2026

**What do you like best about Karbon?**

I use Karbon for organizing my work tasks and tracking time, which has made a noticeable difference in my efficiency. I appreciate having both organizing and time tracking in one place as it saves me time and reduces the need to switch between tools, making my work more streamlined. The time tracking feature is particularly useful for understanding how long I'm spending on tasks and ensuring productive use of my time. Another standout feature is the visibility it provides; I love having a clear, real-time overview of all my tasks, deadlines, and workload, which aids in planning and prioritization. The clean and intuitive interface makes it easy to get used to. I also use Karbon alongside Xero and QuickBooks, and I like how they integrate, keeping my financial data accurate and up-to-date. Onboarding was smooth, thanks to its intuitive platform, which didn't take long to learn how to navigate.

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

I think there's room for improvement in customization. Having more options to tailor workflows, dashboards, or views to better match specific working styles would make the experience even more efficient. One suggestion would be to allow more flexibility in how dashboards are set up, such as letting users create personalized views with widgets that highlight the metrics or tasks most relevant to them. This would make it easier to focus on priorities without having to navigate through multiple sections.

**What problems is Karbon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Karbon to organize tasks, track time, and see project status. It makes my workflows more efficient, saves time, and provides visibility across tasks and deadlines. The intuitive interface ensures I can manage my workload and prioritize effectively.

  ### 10. Streamlined Workflow with Room for Improved Email Integration

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tom N. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 22, 2026

**What do you like best about Karbon?**

I find Karbon fairly intuitive to use once you are up and running. It allows me to focus on the top pages of work that are due by the due date, which really helps in managing tasks. The particular filters let me focus on what needs immediate attention and keep track of other work that needs to be managed. I appreciate the visibility it provides since everything is connected and easy to use, making it available for the whole firm to see. It's easy to mention someone to ensure things move along smoothly, which is a big plus for me.

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

The main frustration I have with Karbon is the inability to send emails with tables. More and more, I'm moving away from Outlook and trying to send emails via Karbon, but it just can't handle tables. When I send an action item table after a meeting, the formatting gets all messed up, and I have to go back to Outlook to send it properly. Another issue is the lack of better visibility and management of individual tasks within a broader piece of work. When multiple people are working on longer pieces of work concurrently, it gets tricky to know what individual tasks they should focus on. It's easy for things to slip through the cracks during busy periods. Additionally, I'd like to see better integrations, like with Xero, for things like time sheets and external signings, and having more client details like date of birth and address directly in Karbon.

**What problems is Karbon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Karbon gives us visibility over accounting and wealth clients, ensuring staff are on the same platform with access to work and correspondences. It helps manage work for existing and potential clients, making it easier to view timelines and maintain clear client communication.

  ### 11. Powerful Templates, Smooth Client Requests, and Valuable Integrations

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Accounting | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 22, 2026

**What do you like best about Karbon?**

Work templates, especially the new feature to assign job roles to tasks. Introducing that level of automation means that our work flows remain fluid and easily adaptable as our business scales. Also very much appreciate the client request forms, this has made collecting information from clients far more seamless than the manual process we had in place before and also provides that audit trail which is essential in a senior role like myself. The fact it integrates with a number of other apps we use such as ignition is invaluable. The support is good and usually quick, someone has always been able to chat over the help desk. I've never had issues with speed or Karbon being able to handle larger work flows.

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

I still feel like Karbon is rather clunky and isn't yet fully water tight. The email stacking is making it difficult for us to fully transition over to using Karbon exclusively for emails, because it's very difficult to easily search and find key information within the stacks, if it were to perfectly mimic an inbox in Outlook we'd be all over it. The search function is frustrating and difficult to find things easily. Being able to re-assign team members to roles is clunky and I find I have to reset the whole work in order to do this, as if a single team member has multiple roles it doesn't allow to reassign just one of the roles. The diary cannot handle a shared calendar and only seems to pick up my main outlook calendar rendering it useless for me. It would be nice to have more automation, i.e if a client disengages, be able to click a button to stop all repeating work items, rather than this be a manual process. The AI functionality could still use some work as it's not always accurate. It would be nice to be able to schedule more than just a client request to go out at a certain point, i.e scheduling reminder emails for clients to go out at a certain date under a template would be amazing. It would be amazing to be able to organise the order of work within categories in My Week, at the moment this is only possible when work is in the 'Working on' area, but would be nice to have that flexibility. It would be nice to be able to flag triage emails, rather than just set an alert. Also it would be super helpful to have a notification bar pop up when something new pops into the triage as just a red dot in the corner means things go missed quite regularly! Also an AI function to build out work templates would be insane!

**What problems is Karbon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Collecting client data, managing work flows, managing time sheets and team members. Delegating tasks, leaving audit trail comments and review notes for teams. Onboarding clients via client request forms. We're starting to explore the analytics functionality which we're finding useful, however we can't fully make use of it due to the frustrations we have with the email functionality. Karbon also makes it easier to manage a colleagues emails when they're on annual leave through shared triages.

  ### 12. Karbon workflow and Team collaboration will save us time and frustration!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bryan K. | Managing Shareholder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 02, 2026

**What do you like best about Karbon?**

The workflow and collaboration tools will be invaluable for managing our tax season and post-tax-season projects. Being able to link emails to client timelines so the team can easily reference them, will save time and effort and help keep everyone in the loop. In addition being able to assign tasks to team members with commenting and then see the status of completion will also be a huge time saver!

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

There are two challenges I’ve noticed so far with Karbon. First, we aren’t able to delete spam or garbage emails from triage, so they don’t clutter the cleared email bin. I receive at least 100 emails a day that I delete from Outlook as spam or junk, and I’d like to be able to remove those in Karbon as well. Second, we can’t roll back a task completion step to a prior step, including having the automators roll back the related work and task changes after an accidental or incorrect task completion. This will create some challenges in keeping the workflow properly aligned.

**What problems is Karbon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before Karbon, managing everything from large projects to smaller day-to-day work tasks was a very manual process for us. With Karbon and its built-in collaboration tools, we’ll be able to better manage team workloads, keep tasks from falling through the cracks, and ensure major projects and tax season stay on track.

  ### 13. Enhances Workflow Efficiency but Integration Limits

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jenny T. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 19, 2026

**What do you like best about Karbon?**

I appreciate how Karbon ensures emails are tracked against the necessary client and tasks. It's intuitive and I've received positive feedback from clients about its ease of use. I really like the work templates and how they can be tailored to my practice. Collaboration with my team using internal notes and comments is also a standout feature for me. The initial setup was great, and the team was prompt in addressing any queries. Shahani is a proactive and engaging account manager.

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

Karbon is quite restricted in integrating with other systems. I use make.com to automate a lot of my functions and repetitive tasks, but Karbon has restrictions that limit my automation capabilities within the software. Only Karbon contact details can be synced using Zapier or make.com, but I'm trying to automate Sharepoint folder linking within Karbon via make.com, which is not currently feasible.

**What problems is Karbon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Karbon to track emails with clients and tasks, which is intuitive and gets positive feedback. It helps tailor work templates for my niche market and enables real-time collaboration with my team member through internal comments.

  ### 14. Karbon Brings Clarity and Efficiency—Everything in One Place

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Marinella C. | Senior Accountant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 01, 2026

**What do you like best about Karbon?**

Karbon has completely transformed the way our team works. The most helpful part is having everything in one place—internal conversations, client emails, and documents—all connected to the right project. The triage and timeline features also make it much easier to prioritize tasks and keep multiple projects moving without losing track. The upsides are clear: better organization, faster workflows, smoother team collaboration, and no more missed emails or tasks. For an accounting firm managing multiple clients, Karbon brings clarity, efficiency, and real peace of mind.

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

While Karbon is incredibly helpful, the learning curve can feel steep at first—especially for teams transitioning from multiple tools. It takes time to get comfortable with the workflow and fully understand how the features fit together. This is most noticeable on the client request side: I’d personally prefer to have the same view as the client so that, when someone asks for help, I can immediately see exactly what they’re seeing and support them more efficiently. A dedicated “client perspective” view within Karbon would make handling and managing client requests even smoother.

**What problems is Karbon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before Karbon, our team was juggling multiple tools, and tasks or client requests would sometimes slip through the cracks. Now that everything is centralized—internal conversations, client emails, documents, and project timelines—we have clear, end-to-end visibility into every project. That visibility has made our workflows more efficient, helped us miss fewer tasks and emails, strengthened team collaboration, and enabled us to respond to clients more quickly and confidently.

  ### 15. Karbon Streamlines Our Workflow with Seamless Collaboration and Top-Tier Support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Anne Nicole S. | Senior Accountant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 01, 2026

**What do you like best about Karbon?**

Honestly, Karbon has been a total lifesaver for our team’s daily workflow. It’s easily the best tool we’ve found for keeping tasks organized and making collaboration feel seamless rather than chaotic. We’re in the app literally all day, every day, it’s the first tab I open and the last one I close.

I was honestly bracing myself for a nightmare during setup, but the implementation was surprisingly smooth. It didn’t feel like we had to reinvent the wheel. Whenever we did hit a snag, their customer support was top-tier. They don't just send you a link to a help article; they actually talk to you like a human. It feels like they’re genuinely invested in making sure the platform works for our specific quirks.

The sheer number of features is impressive, but it doesn't feel bloated. Everything feels intentional. For example, the ease of integration with our existing tech stack (like our email and document storage) was a huge win. I love that I can turn a random email into a prioritized task with just a click, no more copy-pasting between windows.

One of my favorite features is still the secure client portal. In our line of work, privacy is everything, and this gives both us and our clients real peace of mind knowing confidential files aren't just floating around in emails. Also, a huge shoutout to the automated reminders! It’s one less thing for me to worry about every day. Karbon handles the follow-ups automatically. It’s definitely made our workday much lighter.

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

If I had to nitpick, the one thing that bugs me is how the comment section handles copy-pasting. Often, I’ll have text already formatted (like with bolds, bullet points, or specific spacing) but when I paste it into a Karbon comment, all that formatting just disappears. It’s a bit of a pain to have to manually re-format everything just so my team can read it clearly. It’s a small detail, but fixing that would definitely speed up my workflow.

**What problems is Karbon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The biggest problem Karbon solved for me was the manual overhead. I used to live and die by manual checklists, but having a standardized workflow that repeats every month has saved me so much mental energy. I don't have to 'reinvent the wheel' every time a new work item pops up.

Also, the automated client reminders are pure gold. When I’m super busy, the last thing I want to do is hunt through my notes to see who needs a follow-up. Now, I don’t need sticky notes all over my desk—Karbon handles the chasing so I don't have to.

  ### 16. Boosts Clarity and Workflow with Minor Hurdles

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Richie L. | Founder, CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 17, 2026

**What do you like best about Karbon?**

As the owner of Around Finance, I really appreciate how Karbon helps us manage and produce great work in every possible way. We call it our 'Factory' because it brings clarity to our team, making work delivery smooth. I like that Karbon is designed to promote good work practices by triaging emails into tasks and prioritizing them, which helps our accountants focus on task delivery without getting bogged down by email admin. It's a great piece of kit, the best on the market, and we're happy with it. The team at Karbon is also great, which adds to the positive experience. We're not inclined to move to another product anytime soon.

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

Data input around budget creation is super slow and manual. Also, creating repeating work items can be finicky and glitchy at times. Karbon's AI email bot is not great. Initial setup was very difficult and required a lot of effort.

**What problems is Karbon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Karbon provides our accounting team with clarity, streamlining work delivery. It converts emails into tasks, prioritizes them, and promotes good work practices. This workflow reduces noise, freeing our team from email admin and allowing them to focus more on actual work delivery.

  ### 17. Clear Weekly View, Fast Performance, and Insightful Analytics in Karbon

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Accounting | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 17, 2026

**What do you like best about Karbon?**

I like being able to see everything that’s due within the week in one clear view. I also appreciate how easy it is to view all work by type or by client, whether it still needs to be completed or should already have been completed.

I like the option of different integration's within Karbon and with new ones on the horizon.

Its always working at a good speed between working on different sections.

Pricing is fare based on what business insights Karbon provides and the extra small cost for the signatures. As the approval process is great for most bits other than when needing the signature.

We had a great experience when we were onboarded as to help us move all tasks from our previous system. We have also had amazing calls with our client handler Ryan Field as to walk us through how we perform as a company against others with use of Karbon. And also with then using the analytics and engagement's beta.

There is the AI which I think with some more work will be better for when it is trying to generate the email based from the notes.

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

I think not having easy access to the email templates for when sending approval and signatures and also to have more flexibility on customisation of text.

**What problems is Karbon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Engagements is a big one as we have been using two different websites to try and build engagement's. As to then make an easier workflow for creating the contact and tasks on karbon.

  ### 18. Transformative Task Management and Communication Tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lissa H. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 11, 2026

**What do you like best about Karbon?**

Karbon has been a life-changing program for me, giving me back so much time. I love that I can track every job and see its status at any given time, which helps in managing tasks efficiently. The communication on the job through Karbon limits the need for emails, and the ability to upload workpapers for review is a game-changer. Logging all phone calls in Karbon makes it a one-stop shop that meets all my compliance needs. I appreciate that I can see which jobs are completed and manage my staff effectively by tracking where they are with a job. The feature to put notes on file with any issues and tag the staff members who need attention is very helpful. The weekly view and Excel view options are great, providing flexibility depending on personal preference. Once I got used to it, Karbon has been indispensable, and having used it for years, I've never looked back.

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

Nothing that i really dislike about this program, its just getting better and better,

**What problems is Karbon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Karbon gave me back time, keeps me on top of jobs, limits emails, logs calls, and meets compliance needs. I manage tasks, track job completions, and effectively manage staff.

  ### 19. Streamlined Our Accountancy Practice Seamlessly

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Adam P. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 10, 2026

**What do you like best about Karbon?**

I like using Karbon to run my accountancy practice, schedule and delegate work. It solves most of my problems by allowing me to schedule work on a repeating basis and manage it to deadlines at scale across the team, so we never miss a beat. I appreciate the ability to schedule work as it ensures that nothing is left for someone to remember, and very little slips through the cracks. I love being able to allocate all communications to a contact and workflow for traceability, which eliminates any ambiguity in the work being done. Additionally, I enjoy templating our communications to standardize our voice and style and being able to @ the team to delegate work. The initial setup of Karbon was also very easy.

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

Time tracking could be a bit more flexible and operate at a client level. We need to track time across clients and have a clear view of how much throughout the year is spent.

**What problems is Karbon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Karbon helps me run my accountancy practice by scheduling and delegating work efficiently. It manages work deadlines at scale, ensuring nothing slips through the cracks. Communication is traceable and standardized, enhancing clarity and accountability.

  ### 20. Effortless Workflow Management Made Easy

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Janine A. | Bookkeeper/ BAS Agent, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 23, 2023

**What do you like best about Karbon?**

I use Karbon to keep emails from clients grouped together, set reminders, use workflows, and organize my work life effectively. I love how easy it is to use; it's like having my own personal assistant. The ease of setup was impressive as the Karbon team assisted with integration and training from day one. I also love the E-sign feature, which adds to the overall efficiency.

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

I would love for the current work items to be first on the list when adding an email to a work item.

**What problems is Karbon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Karbon helps keep client emails grouped, sets reminders, organizes my workflow, and collates information, making it easier to stay on top of client business.

  ### 21. Intuitive and Comprehensive, But AI Needs Improvement

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ana Laura C. | Bookkeeper, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 18, 2024

**What do you like best about Karbon?**

I use Karbon every day to organize my work, receive emails, schedule work items, and stay in touch with my colleagues. I like that it's very intuitive; once you start working with Karbon, you realize it's very easy to use. It's a really good software for organizing not only my work but also communications, files, and contacts. I strongly recommend Karbon because it's really useful, allowing you to save a lot of time.

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

Sometimes when I use artificial intelligence to write an email from a draft, it's not very precise. And sometimes I try to write an email and the AI doesn't understand and writes a reply, so it's very confusing. I have to use a different tool for that.

**What problems is Karbon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Karbon to organize work, manage emails, schedule items, and communicate with colleagues, all in one place. It's intuitive and helps centralize communications, work items, files, and contacts.

  ### 22. Streamlined Practice Management with Advanced Email Triage

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David C. | Founder / Consultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 30, 2026

**What do you like best about Karbon?**

I love the email management system, called triage, in Karbon. It feels game-changing because it allows me to track emails against clients and projects and stage them to work on when I have time. This makes it possible to manage and accomplish the overwhelming amount of emails. I also find invoicing incredibly simple and quick, which helps me to get paid faster. Additionally, the initial setup of Karbon was very, very easy.

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

Karbon is improving the ability to send out engagements and work agreements. That is the current weakness that I see that they are addressing.

**What problems is Karbon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Karbon to manage emails and projects, which prevents me from missing due dates. It simplifies tracking work and priorities, making invoicing quick and easy. The email management system tackles inbox overload, and enables efficient client communication and workflow tracking.

  ### 23. Easy Project Tracking with Seamless Tool Integrations

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gioacchino B. | CPA, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 25, 2026

**What do you like best about Karbon?**

We love how easy it is to track all of our projects, and that Karbon integrates with all of our favorite tools, which makes it simple to automate our processes.

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

Karbon sometimes overpromises on timelines, so we don't have as much time as expected to get the tools ready for the upcoming tax season.

**What problems is Karbon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Karbon helps solve the challenge of automating administrative work through integrations and tracking projects without losing any data. With the new K4C portal, all client data is now housed in the same place as our project tracking, which makes it easier to keep everything organized and consistent.

  ### 24. Flexible Workflows with Effortless Client Task Automation

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Stephen S. | Partner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 15, 2026

**What do you like best about Karbon?**

- workflow flexibility
- the ability to send client tasks and automate the sending of those emails & reminders
- kanban to view everything on one screen

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

- no dark mode for eye protection
- can't add icon links in signature
- not having a "delete email" feature when sorting through triage, as there are emails that i would not want to be archived
- no "delay send" when sending replies, as sometimes i'd like to recall emails shortly after sending to fix typos and/or missed information instead of sending consecutive emails

**What problems is Karbon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

- the ability to file emails under work items help me track conversations related to them, so I don't need to backtrack & remember / search up to recall the conversations with my clients
- i don't need to remember to send out the list of items monthly once they are automated & send out subsequent reminders if they were not received
- repeating work items helps me to track the to-do list for each client, with statuses to remind me the progression of each work item so i don't need to keep track myself on sheets of paper / in my brain

  ### 25. Karbon Makes My Practice Easy

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chester R. | Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 28, 2022

**What do you like best about Karbon?**

As a sole tax practitioner, I don't need to coordinate schedules with others, but I do need an effective way to monitor the progress of my work projects. Before I started using Karbon, I relied on a paper matrix to keep track of my project workflow—which was both time-consuming and often confusing. With Karbon, I can create workflow templates for different types of projects, such as individual tax returns, business tax returns, and quarterly tax reports. These templates include all the necessary steps for each project, and I can easily update the status of each step as I go. The "To Do" feature in Karbon is especially helpful for managing short-term tasks, like calling a tax agency on behalf of a client or getting a client to sign a POA (tax Power of Attorney). I use Karbon daily as Karbon simplifies my workflow. I also appreciate that Karbon integrates with Google Gmail, making it easy to link emails directly to a client or a specific work project, or even both.

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

Karbon has added many functions in the past 2-3 years. So many in fact that I have not been able to explore all of them. However, I can say that so far there is nothing I dislike about Karbon. In fact, I look forward to renewing my subscription each year.

**What problems is Karbon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It was so difficult starting to work each morning and trying to work through my old paper matrix. With Karbon, it is so easy to start the day, see the projects that need attention and see what projects I am behind on (which I am usually running behind). I save a couple of hours each day using Karbon versus my old paper matrix. Thanks, Karbon for the extra time (not to mention money).

  ### 26. Working Smarter Not Harder

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Stephanie R. | Account Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 12, 2024

**What do you like best about Karbon?**

One new thing I’ve been enjoying about Karbon is the improved visibility and organization it gives me when planning my day, along with how seamlessly I can now communicate with clients directly from their profiles, which further reduces app switching and makes my workflow even more efficient.

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

One area where Karbon could improve is by offering more customization options, such as adjustable themes or interface personalization, which would make the platform feel more engaging and allow users to tailor the experience to their personal preferences. Preferably a dark theme!

**What problems is Karbon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Karbon has been instrumental in addressing several challenges within our organization. It provides our account managers with the capability to efficiently track time while simultaneously monitoring the jobs associated with each client. This tool has proven to be beneficial by reclaiming valuable time in our day that was previously spent on these tasks, allowing us to focus on more strategic initiatives.

  ### 27. Collaborative Platform with Significant Payoff

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jared C.

**Reviewed Date:** April 22, 2026

**What do you like best about Karbon?**

I like that Karbon gives our hybrid team a platform to work collaboratively and communicate well. As an owner, it gives me visibility into how well work is progressing. I appreciate that it's a collaborative platform that also acts as a single source of truth. Every piece of work is assigned to someone, which ensures ownership. The ability to leave notes, comments, and tag teammates is really helpful from a collaboration perspective. Although the initial setup was intensive, the payback is significant.

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

The product has expanded significantly and so is complex, but we only use 40% of features.

**What problems is Karbon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Karbon for designing workflows, tracking deadlines, and collaborating effectively as a hybrid team. It gives me visibility into work progression and ensures task ownership. The feature to leave notes and tag teammates enhances teamwork and communication.

  ### 28. Easy-to-Manage Templates and Outstanding Support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consulting | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 29, 2026

**What do you like best about Karbon?**

It’s easy to set up project templates and update them as needed, which helps track and maintain quality control for complex valuation reports. This also lets us assign portions of the work to staff with the appropriate skills, improving overall efficiency. Sara and her team are always available, and they consistently provide helpful insight and practical solutions.

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

The Karbon for Clients is cumbersome. A way to opt into a simpler portal would be ideal.

**What problems is Karbon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We operate virtually, and before Karbon we never quite knew whose desk a case was on. Karbon helps us coordinate and stay connected on cases, so now we can clearly see who is working on each one at any given time. It also includes reporting, which helps us identify where our bottlenecks are and supports constant, continuous improvement.

  ### 29. One-Stop Solution for Client Management & Automation

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nicole C. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 19, 2026

**What do you like best about Karbon?**

I like that Karbon is a one-stop shop and it's the only thing I need to use for my clients. It helps with automation, so I'm not having to redo things. It also allows another staff member to pick up a job or an email and assist the client if I'm out of the office. I also appreciate the work tasks feature where I can keep track of what I need to do for every client and by what due date, which serves as a great reminder.

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

At the moment, I'm improving the billing side and automation side.

**What problems is Karbon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Karbon to collect client emails and documents, share tasks as reminders within the staff, automate processes, reduce redundant work, and enable staff to take over tasks seamlessly if I'm out.

  ### 30. Cloud-Based Platform for Transparent and Standardized Workflow

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kirk J. | CEO, president, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 26, 2021

**What do you like best about Karbon?**

I like the cloud-based format of Karbon. It allows me to see correspondence across the business, providing full transparency. The work templates help me standardize work and tasks across my entire business. It's important for my fully virtual environment as it keeps my on-shore and off-shore team fully plugged in. The initial setup of Karbon was very good, and the transition was easy.

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

I think AI prompts would be helpful to ensure that my team stays engaged and active in the key features of Karbon. For example, when my team is composing a reply, an AI prompt could engage with the user to suggest using Karbon AI to help compose an email reply. Another example might be in an AI prompt to help the user better use and engage in My Week.

**What problems is Karbon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Karbon helps me manage email overload and streamline workflows. Its cloud-based format keeps my global team connected. I appreciate the transparency across our business. Work templates standardize tasks, ensuring quality performance.

  ### 31. Streamlined Operations with Communication Contextualization

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ben C. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 30, 2023

**What do you like best about Karbon?**

What I like the most about Karbon is the standardized checklists that you can create and generate for all clients. They call it a work item inside Karbon. This work item is most helpful for us as it supports a team-based approach, allowing everyone to operate and execute for serving clients on the same page. We document the good measure way for tasks like handling payroll or tax returns, reducing the likelihood of idiosyncrasies causing problems. The standardization within Karbon really helps our team operate more efficiently.

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

The 'My Week' feature in Karbon has been a little bit harder to adopt. It's harder to actually plan out a calendar based on different items that are inside 'My Week', making it an area that's been harder for us to get value from.

**What problems is Karbon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Karbon solves communication that is siloed or not contextualized by letting us tag and contextualize emails to deliverables. It standardizes our workflow with templates for tasks like payroll and bookkeeping, saving time and automating communication.

  ### 32. Karbon is a great tool to manage workflow

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kristie L. | Senior Accountant/CPA, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 12, 2024

**What do you like best about Karbon?**

I find that Karbon helps our firm through transparency. All team members can easily look to a timeline for a client and get an overview of what is going on with that client. The work projects are easily navigated through and the external comment feature has helped greatly in cutting down the numerous emails from clients. We use it all day, every day! The integration process from the end-user standpoint was a chore, but the customer support from our implementation team is amazing!

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

I would love to see a change in the design of how the Triage is displayed. The email threads can be a bit difficult to navigate. UPDATE: After over a year of using Karbon this is still an issue for me. Email threads show the newest reply at the bottom and you must 'expand' it to read the entire responses.

**What problems is Karbon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Karbon is solving our issues of spreading out work to those who may be under-utilized. It also makes it very simple when staff members have to be out of the office and their work needs to be re-assigned temporarily.

  ### 33. Transformational CRM with Robust Collaboration

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shae-Lynne C. | Client Service Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 15, 2022

**What do you like best about Karbon?**

I love Karbon for its collaborative nature, allowing our whole team to be equally informed on everything, even when the main client owner is not available. It provides incredibly transparent access to client communications so that nothing gets lost between members, while also giving us a dedicated place to store everything for a client and track all of their works and emails. The AI and automatic features make reminders and summaries very convenient. It's a powerful platform with data reporting systems, workflow customization, task tracking, automations, and email functions. The progress and updates made since we began using the program in 2020 have been transformational for our business and client service. Additionally, the collaboration features bridge a significant communication gap across the teams handling various aspects of our clients' financial lives. These features are a huge plus for our firm. It's also great to have the Karbon support and Karbon Community to give feedback about the program and provide insight on things that can be improved.

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

The Engagements and Billing features aren't quite as fleshed out as they need to be for our team to adopt them into our process. For Engagements, I'd like further customization and variables, better linking to clients/workflows, and notifications for approved/denied engagements. Regarding Billing, the ability to create one-off invoices that don't need to be repeated or attached to recurring works would be more convenient. It was fairly straightforward to transfer data from Jetpack to Karbon, but the details were nowhere near as complete as they needed to be, so a lot of customization and manual entry was required.

**What problems is Karbon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Karbon enhances transparency in client communications, centralizes client information, and tracks all work. Its AI features streamline reminders and summaries. It supports collaboration, benefiting our team's cohesion, and has transformed our business and client services with powerful data reporting, customization, task tracking, and email functions.

  ### 34. User friendy and intuitive

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Elena B. | Practice administrator; tax specialist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 11, 2025

**What do you like best about Karbon?**

It includes all the information required for an accounting practice

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

The search button is located at the top right corner. This placement may be somewhat inconvenient, as it requires users to navigate to the right side of the screen when most tasks are typically performed on the left. A position on the top left, next to the Karbon logo, would be preferable.
Additionally, I would suggest changing the location of the "details" tab. When entering a new contact, the next tab should ideally be the "details" tab, followed by the work, time/budget, and other sections. Currently, the "details" tab is positioned at the very end, which raises the question of how to enter work details before inputting the contact's information.
I do love love love the Karbon AI. I use it on a daily basis for my emails (a few times per day).

**What problems is Karbon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Karbon is sending out notifications to clients (reminders), which is great.
I would be beneficial if Karbon includes the name of the corporation in that reminder email. Some clients may own more than one company, and in that case, we don't know for which corporation the client needs to provide their backup documents.

  ### 35. Streamlined Workflows with Flexible Customization

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bridget E. | Project Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 15, 2022

**What do you like best about Karbon?**

I like Karbon for internal and external communication and workflow management. It makes it super easy to create detailed checklists of work at client-specific levels. My favorite thing is being able to have work templates as a starting point, which I can customize to make the workflows as specific as needed by client. It's great that it saves all prior notes and communications as well. The work templates help me save hours because I can use them as a starting point instead of building everything from scratch.

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

I don't like that we used to be able to see the checklists being sent to clients on the timeline and by whom. Now I can't see when the checklists were first sent, how many reminders they've received, etc.

**What problems is Karbon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Karbon simplifies creating client-specific work checklists and saves notes and communication. It provides work templates to start with, saving me hours on onboarding by customizing workflows as needed for new clients.

  ### 36. Seamless Task Management and Team Collaboration

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Heather J. | Staff Accountant, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 16, 2025

**What do you like best about Karbon?**

Karbon helps organize my daily and weekly tasks in a way that is easy to keep me on schedule and lets me easily track down past conversations or involve coworkers on a conversation where I want their input. Tagging internal users saves so much time when I want to catch someone up on an issue. I use Karbon throughout the day for correspondence and time-keeping.

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

I wish there was a general folder for items that do not need to be cleared time-sensitively. If I could pin an email to a client where I could easily find it forever, that would be useful. I also wish that I could search emails and filter it to "sent" ones only. I still have to rely on gmail for this.

**What problems is Karbon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Karbon provides all of my time-tracking and email but also lets me see where I am against budget for each client. Karbon is critical in a multi-client setting to keep track of everything for a given work item. Having monthly work items prevents having huge folders or a sprawling general inbox of mail. I can easily tag items to my week that I will get to within the next few days. Being able to mass-assign emails to a work item has been a lifesaver and one of my favorite recent updates. (Mass-assign to My Week would be awesome too!)

  ### 37. Enables Fast, Efficient Team Workflows as We Scale

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** kristin H. | Practice Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 09, 2026

**What do you like best about Karbon?**

The best thing is as our client base has expanded it has enabled a team of 7 to create workflows and comunicate in an open environment to solve issues quickly and efficiently

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

The karbon client requests don't really work for us and our clients as majority of client dont want another platform to log into

**What problems is Karbon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

workflow & client management & monitoring of work items. Time budgets have allowed us to manage pricing. Integration with ignition is great to onboard clients. Support from out account manager has helped with onboarding a new team member.

  ### 38. Streamlined Client Email Management with Smart Tagging and Notes

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Accounting | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 28, 2026

**What do you like best about Karbon?**

The email and internal communication functionality is really useful. It helps a lot to be able to tag emails and leave notes for colleagues before responding to clients. Having all emails on the client’s page is also helpful. I also like being able to attach emails to work items, which keeps communication streamlined, organized, and easy to sort.

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

Right now, if I’m already tracking time on one work item, I can’t switch to a different work item while the timer is still running. I’d like the option to pause the current timer and immediately start tracking another item, then easily switch back to the original one when I’m finished.

**What problems is Karbon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm not sure.

  ### 39. Excellent platform, improves connectivity and makes managing workloads easier!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nicola H. | Accountant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 26, 2023

**What do you like best about Karbon?**

I love having transparency across all of our work and communications with clients where other team members are involved, really enables us to be more proactive with clients. Planning work items are arranging in my week etc is so easy and having different lists for each type of work enables me to manage and chase clients much easier!

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

More reactions are required, I hate thumbs up! :)

**What problems is Karbon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Work management, transparency of communications, recurring work items, diary management etc

  ### 40. Comprehensive Workflow Solution, Needs Better Workflow Customization

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kym V.

**Reviewed Date:** January 31, 2026

**What do you like best about Karbon?**

I like Karbon's user interface and how it integrates email, internal communication, and client communication. Having all client work, client communication, and team communication in one place makes it easy to audit and track.

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

The ability to update workflows and keep customizations could be better. One change to a template can mean a lot of manual updating. We have two dedicated team members maintaining our Karbon workflows and updates, which isn't practical for all practices. This leads to messy, unmaintained workflows, which defeats the purpose. Also, the ability to bulk reassign work and tasks within the work could be refined. The initial setup, while easy, can be overwhelming for some and not optimally set up, leading to many unused features due to a lack of knowledge on best practices.

**What problems is Karbon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Karbon for workflows, systemization of processes, team communication, and compliance tracking. Its integration of client and team communications in one place makes auditing and tracking easier.

  ### 41. All-in-One Hub That Integrates Seamlessly and Simplifies Work

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sandra P. | Director & Bas Agent, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 19, 2026

**What do you like best about Karbon?**

It has everything in one place: emails, work tasks, and documents. It integrates with our app stack and makes our lives easier

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

Work layout. I’m very visual, and I find that I get lost at times. A calendar layout with just one line for each task, colour-coded, would be amazing.

**What problems is Karbon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Effective for time management. Emails are automatically saved to client cards, and documents are automatically saved in Drive, which helps keep everything organized.

  ### 42. Streamlined Team Communication, Room for Improvement

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** UpSide A.

**Reviewed Date:** January 29, 2026

**What do you like best about Karbon?**

I find it really helpful to be able to see the company as a whole, allowing me to keep track of all my fellow employees' tasks and know exactly when I need to jump in or when I don't. The ability to communicate with my fellow employees, my boss, and clients in one place is super handy. I like that the chatting area feels familiar, like a text chat or MSN. The feature where I can tag specific people in my comments and choose to share with the team, or just one person, or chat with an external client is great. It avoids the need to bounce between other forms of communication like email or phone, and back to Karbon. As an admin at an accounting firm, it's incredibly useful to finish a task and pass it to the next person seamlessly by tagging them. It's also very helpful to tag specific people when I have questions, directing them to the right person who might know the answer.

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

I don't like having to click the blue button to refresh or see my new triage. I wish that would just come up when I click triage. I also wish I could move the window that pops up when I am saving something to a timeline or contact. My memory isn't great so I find myself clicking that button but forgetting the job or the company I am saving to. Because I cannot move that window, I just have to close it, re-read the info, and click it again. If I could move it over, up, or down, I can read the info behind it while saving at the same time. That would be really helpful.

**What problems is Karbon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Karbon helps me see the company's big picture, manage tasks, and collaborate with colleagues and clients efficiently. I can tag specific people for questions and pass on tasks seamlessly, making communication integrated and smooth without switching between tools.

  ### 43. Terrible experience

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Madina B. | Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 26, 2026

**What do you like best about Karbon?**

We were not able to start using Karbon so we cannot say anything about it because we were thrown off by a huge charge that they did not fulfill

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

Unfortunately, my experience with this company has been extremely disappointing. I rarely write negative reviews, but I feel it’s important to warn other firms that may be considering this software. After reading other negative feedback, I can confirm that many of the concerns raised closely match what I experienced with Karbon.

First, the sales process felt misleading. During the sales calls, the product and onboarding were described as seamless, fast, and largely handled for the firm. In practice, that was not true. Key details were not clearly disclosed, including that an annual membership fee is charged whether or not the software is actually implemented or used. Once payment was taken, there was no meaningful effort to address our concerns or work toward a reasonable resolution.

Second, the implementation was extremely costly and ineffective. We were charged $7,000 for implementation, which amounted to roughly five or six Zoom calls. During those sessions, our firm was expected to independently migrate and redesign our entire internal workflow into a new platform. The effective cost was over $1,000 per hour, yet most of the work was pushed onto our team—professionals who are accountants and tax preparers, not IT specialists. Instead of hands-on support, the “implementation” largely consisted of assigning us extensive tasks.

Third, the learning curve was far steeper than represented. We were told the entire team would be operational within one month, which was unrealistic. Even firms with experience using practice management software report that the learning curve is extremely steep, and the implementation support provided did not materially reduce that burden. Realistically, full adoption would take many months, if not more than a year.

Fourth, the client experience was poor. Clients repeatedly complained that the system was difficult to use, citing a confusing interface and links that frequently expired. This created frustration for clients and added administrative work for our firm.

Fifth, customer support has been consistently inadequate. Responses are slow, issues remain unresolved, and there is little sense of accountability. The recurring theme throughout this experience has been a lack of meaningful support after payment is collected.

Finally, we were billed without service delivery, and a refund was refused. Despite implementation never being completed, the company charged $11,000 upfront for an annual contract covering 10 users, in addition to the $7,000 implementation fee. The annual contract allegedly began on October 15—immediately after the tax extension deadline—yet we were nowhere near being able to use the software. We repeatedly requested that charges be postponed until implementation was completed, but those requests were ignored. As of January 26, no refund has been issued, no implementation has occurred, and we have paid for months of software we could not use. With tax season approaching, implementation is no longer feasible for us, and our request for a full refund was denied.

  ### 46. Boosts Client Follow-Ups and Secure Document Management

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Colin G.

**Reviewed Date:** January 21, 2026

**What do you like best about Karbon?**

I like Karbon's ability to build automated systems that remind clients of items they've missed and manage related follow-ups. This automation helps eliminate the need for individuals in the organization to manage follow-ups manually, allowing them to focus on more productive tasks. I also appreciate the creation of secure portals to provide documents to third parties, which reduces the risk of compromising client information compared to emailing, even when password protected.

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

I wish Karbon had more CRM features. It'd be great to search for phone numbers so if someone calls and we don't recognize the number, we'd be able to see if it's in the system. Also, we faced challenges with duplications when linking it to QuickBooks Online, and I need help understanding how to merge duplicates. It's frustrating having client names appear multiple times.

**What problems is Karbon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Karbon helps with client communication, tracking project status, automating follow-ups, managing workload, and providing secure document sharing portals.
