Pros - Time saving, no more Excel spreadsheets to balance. - Easy to use compared to other software I tired. - Mapping of P&L accounts enables us to adjust the presentation based on each client needs. - Variety of choices for columns in order to compare your P&L results. It enables us to have stratgic conversation in montly meetings. - Automation for monthly comments so we can focus on adding value to our report. - Possibility to adapt the setting of the reports to our branding or the client’s. **What do you dislike about Spotlight Reporting?** - It would be great to have more mapping option for the balance sheet to enable us to calculate key ratio. - Many manufacturing clients with Shopify would benefit to have an API and easily derivate common ratios in their respective industry. Have those ratios quickly for companies is a must. **What problems is Spotlight Reporting solving and how is that benefiting you?** My main goal was to stop using Excel spreadsheet for monthly reporting in order the make the monthly process more efficient and have more time to analyse data. In Excel, you have to manually update your numbers and validate every time, with Spotlight, you can import your numbers easily knowing that it will balance. ### 2. This was easy to roll out and saves time for our monthly Family Office reporting. After initial setup, it is as easy as hitting a couple of buttons each month. Previously we had been using Excel, which was not ideal. **What do you dislike about Spotlight Reporting?** Took some time to get the P&L and Balance sheet customized for our needs, but overall it wasn't too bad since it is a one-time process. **What problems is Spotlight Reporting solving and how is that benefiting you?** Before Spotlight, we pulled monthly reports from multiple Quickbooks accounts and manually created Excel spreadsheets to make a consolidated report. We had been looking for software that could track everything we needed and integrate with QBS for a long time. The charts and visual aids also really help to translate data into information **What do you dislike about Spotlight Reporting?** It works great for consolidating small group companies but went the group consol becomes large eg more than 5 companies and in multiple countries it really becomes difficult to use. Especially finding the accounts that were not eliminated with the intercompany transaction eliminations. I can set up the mapping of accounts one time, and the reports will update as I update QuickBooks and import through the live data source. I prepare reports for clients monthly and have confidence that everything is in the right place without spending hours manually consolidating accounts and transactions. **What do you dislike about Spotlight Reporting?** The downside of Spotlight reporting is that the formatting isn't as customizable as I would like; the tracking reports are "backward" to what most of my clients in America are accustomed to seeing in their reporting packages. It allows for easy consumption of data and prevents future back and forth due to confusion or overlooking small numbers in a wide data set. **What do you dislike about Spotlight Reporting?** The learning curve took longer than expected. Compared to our older program, this program took me a few weeks to get the hang of as opposed to less than a week for our older program. The price point is also a point of contention.
