**What do you like best about Expensify?**

It's very easy to use for expense reporting. I just email receipts or PDF invoices to receipts@expensify.com and it extracts all the information into an expense. We have custom GL codes and tags setup to align with our internal accounting practices. Submitting the reports is easy and very organized. It packages everything together including images of all the receipts into a PDF that gets sent to my accounting department. I currently use the individual free version but will use the paid version when I am travelling and have many receipts for the month. I find this to be very reasonable.

**What do you dislike about Expensify?**

Nothing. This is amazing and I save so much time using it vs having to take pics and keeping track of everything myself.

**What problems is Expensify solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's saving my time by keeping all my expenses organized and making it so I don't have to type in the initial expense details. I also use the app to upload physical receipts, which it also scans and extracts information from. This is super helpful when I am travelling.

**What do you like best about Expensify?**

I like using Expensify for employee reimbursement of valid business expenses, especially for employees who don't have a corporate credit card. It helps collect information from employees, including receipt copies and expenditure details, and coordinates the workflow for approval and direct deposit ACH reimbursement. The integration with our accounting software, Sage Intacct, is valuable because it helps streamline the expense entry and automates it, so we don't have to replicate data in Sage; everything flows from Expensify into the proper categories and time periods. I think Expensify is a really great tool and, from an employee perspective, the app and user experience is fantastic!

**What do you dislike about Expensify?**

Unfortunately, they did a big update in January 2026 that's still difficult to get used to for interfacing as an admin. The old views were much easier to navigate. We've also noticed a timing difference of when the integration from Expensify to Sage happens, and we have to initiate the payment of the expense report for the expenses to move into the accounting system, but I think that may be more of a setup issue we have rather than a problem with Expensify itself. Also, while Expensify is a great tool, it feels very pricey for what they offer and not always a competitive solution.

**What problems is Expensify solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Expensify streamlines employee reimbursement, automates capturing receipts and approvals, and enables ACH reimbursements, enhancing our workflow. Its integration with Sage Intacct simplifies expense entry, saving us from duplicate entries by flowing expenses into accurate categories and periods.

**What do you like best about Expensify?**

I've been using Expensify for about 18 months now, primarily for tracking client-related travel, meals, mileage, and miscellaneous business expenses. As someone who hates the traditional headache of expense reports, I was drawn to its promise of automation and mobile-first design.

**What do you dislike about Expensify?**

Pricing can add up quickly: While the Collect plan starts around $5 per member/month, moving to the full Control features or scaling a team pushes costs higher (especially without committing to their corporate card for discounts). For very small teams or occasional use, it sometimes feels pricey compared to simpler alternatives.

Occasional glitches and sync issues: Credit card syncing isn't always perfect—I've run into duplicate transactions or delays that require manual cleanup. The OCR isn't 100% accurate every time, particularly with poor lighting, faded receipts, or non-standard formats, so some manual editing is still needed.

**What problems is Expensify solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Mobile app is intuitive and fast: Submitting reports takes just a few minutes. The interface feels clean, and features like distance/mileage tracking (including recent GPS/odometer improvements) make it practical for frequent travelers.

Real-time tracking and reimbursements: Expenses sync quickly, approvals move smoothly for smaller teams, and integrations with accounting tools like QuickBooks or Xero help close the books faster. Multi-currency support with automatic conversion is helpful for any international work.

**What do you like best about Expensify?**

I like Expensify for its ease of use and great user experience. The automatic scan feature stands out because it captures all necessary information from a receipt, like who the vendor is, the amount, and menu items, which helps align with our policy. The fact that Expensify can automatically pick up details from just scanning the receipt is amazing. Once receipts are scanned, they are saved on Expensify, allowing for easy report generation and reducing the workload for both me and the employees. Expensify automating everything saves a lot of time. Plus, the team at Expensify is very cooperative, and their YouTube tutorials are very helpful. The pricing of the module is slightly higher than other competitors such as Zoho Expenses. But the user experience is far better. Not only interms of the web experience, but the mobile applications work flawlessly and more smoothly.

**What do you dislike about Expensify?**

Honestly, it's just a bit of a learning gap. Like, the whole once we've helped set up this whole thing to save time, getting the people up to speed, may be a bit problematic, but that's not the fault of the application.

**What problems is Expensify solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Expensify to manage travel expenses, track itineraries, and stay compliant with company policies. It saves me time by automating expense reports and reimbursements, and it also reduces my workload thanks to receipt scanning. For compliance with internal travel policy, Expensify helps us align our travel needs and ensure that everyone remains within the alotted budgets of their travel per diem budgets. There is capability for it to be integrated with accounting softwares, but we have not done so.

**What do you like best about Expensify?**

We were struggling with getting the right help for our needs with our account. I was brand new to the tool and didn't quite understand what I was working with. My account rep at the time didn't have the knowledge to assist me, so it fell stagnant. When I left a review here on G2, I was followed up with and prompted to meet with a new account manager. The meeting went SO well and I feel so much more confident with Expensify. And I had all my integration questions answered after months of trying. I'm excited to make Expensify work for us now, rather than dread logging in.

**What do you dislike about Expensify?**

I've learned that if your account rep isn't working out for you, you CAN request a new person. The knowledge base I needed for my account wasn't in line with my account rep at the time, so it would've been handy to know that I can request a new one. Other than that, I don't think there's much to improve!

Managing company credit card charges for each employee. When it works, it's great!

**What do you like best about Expensify?**

Expensify is built for speed and simplicity. SmartScan is the biggest win. Snap a receipt and it pulls in the details accurately enough that you trust it and keep using it. The mobile app is intuitive, submitting reports takes minutes, and there is almost no learning curve. It removes the friction that usually comes with expense reporting.

**What do you dislike about Expensify?**

There are occasional edge cases where SmartScan needs a quick manual fix, especially with less standard receipts. Reporting and customization can feel a bit limited if you are trying to do more complex finance workflows. It is not built to be overly customizable, which is fine, but worth noting depending on your needs.

**What problems is Expensify solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It solves the biggest problem with expenses, which is time and consistency. Instead of saving receipts and dealing with them later, I handle them in real time. That keeps everything clean, reduces errors, and makes reimbursement faster. It also removes the mental overhead of tracking expenses, which adds up more than people realize.

**What do you like best about Expensify?**

I really appreciate the ease of use with Expensify. It makes managing my receipts much easier compared to snapping pictures and emailing them around to different people. Everything gets submitted in one app; I just snap a picture, and it sends the information to the right person. This process is smooth and efficient, and the ability to handle everything within the app helps keep my workflow uninterrupted. It's handy that I can quickly open the app on my phone, snap a receipt, and have it handled instantly, improving my workflow significantly. Additionally, I like that the app gives me reminders if I forget to submit a receipt, which has helped improve our whole accounting process. Switching to Expensify has made getting things done much faster for both me and our accounting department. Initially, setting it up was straightforward, and the tutorials made learning the system quite simple. Overall, the app has really helped streamline our expense tracking, and I'm happy with it.

**What do you like best about Expensify?**

They are the only app/s software on the market that does exactly what they do.  Clean integrations with credit cards, they now have AI tools that help Auto categorize your your receipts. You have the ability to email, and upload receipts which are then smart scanned in.  Over time, expensify has gotten more accurate in the user experience easier.  For the price, no one can match it

**What do you dislike about Expensify?**

I used to be anti expensify because the president got all political. However, every time they've earned back my trust by consistently improving their product. I've tried Zoho in about five other expense report softwares and I always come back to expensify

**What problems is Expensify solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is much quicker and easier to photograph or upload my receipts and then match them to actual credit card statements.  Creates wonderful reports with everything I must submit to my company for credit card usage

**What do you like best about Expensify?**

I'm someone who is constantly on the move for work for attending conferences and client locations. So i use expensify very frequently. The smartscan feature is hands down my favorite. I can take a quick photo of a receipt while i'm heading out of a restaurant or airport gate and expensify takes care of the rest. what gets me even more excited is how effortless the whole process is. No spreadsheets, no hunting for lost receipts and no end of month stress. My report practically build themselves and approvals move fast.

**What do you dislike about Expensify?**

no dislikes, just pure problem solver the platform is for me. Just love it every time i use.

**What problems is Expensify solving and how is that benefiting you?**

when traveling internationally, i'm constantly collecting receipts in different currencies. Converting each one manually while making sure the exchange rate is correct on the date of the transaction was time consuming process for me. Expensify automatically converts foreign curreny expenses into the currency used for my reports. I simply take a picture of the receipt in whatever currency it is in and expensify handles the math and applies proper exchange rate. Before expensify, i had to go through credit card statements line by line, match each transaction to a receipt and enter everything manually. This was especially painful after long business trips. but now expensify keeps everything organized even when i forget to snap a photo.

**What do you like best about Expensify?**

I use Expensify for managing my reimbursements for travel at work, and it makes it easy to keep track of receipts, such as Ubers, as it connects directly with the app. I really liked using the feature where you can submit receipts by texting a phone number and it auto fills in fields like dates, the name of the place, and the amount in the correct currency from the receipt. I also like the ability to split bills between different teammates as sometimes only one bill is provided. The initial setup was very easy.

**What do you dislike about Expensify?**

I'd like to make it even easier to just drag and drop images of various formats into the portal rather than having to convert them to a specific format and then text them.

**What problems is Expensify solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Expensify to manage travel reimbursements, making it easy to track receipts by integrating with the Uber app. I like submitting receipts via text, where it auto-fills details. It also allows splitting bills with teammates.

I like the app. I think the app and being able to scan receipts with my phone helps because that way, I don't have to save the physical receipts any longer.

**What do you dislike about Expensify?**

The interface on the desktop is very clunky, very confusing, very hard to use, and in my opinion, is poorly designed. There are so many basic needs that for whatever reason don't work. Anyone leaving a review about how great Expensify is needs to get their heads checked. This is weak software that lacks basic ease-of-use features on the interface. Want to add expenses to a report? Can't do it from within the report itself, or at least the search function doesn't work within the report. Accidentally use the wrong dates when setting up a report? Too bad. No way to edit them (that I can find), so you'll have to just start over with a new report. Just a few examples of basic functionality simply not being a part of Expensify.

I find Expensify makes managing expenses easier compared to submitting physical receipts. I like that I can scan receipts with my phone and no longer have to save the physical receipts.

**What do you like best about Expensify?**

I am not from an accounts background, but Expensify makes expense tracking simple for me. I can add bills, choose categories, and check reports without any accounting knowledge.
It helps me keep all my work expenses in one place without making things complicated. I work as a Dietician and Nutritionist, manage a homeopathy clinic, and also create health education content, so I have regular work-related spending. Adding an expense with the bill takes very little time, and I don’t have to remember things later.
I could start using it right away without setup help. The layout is clean, so entering data feels easy. I open it whenever I have work expenses, and it takes less than a minute to add an entry. Uploading bills and checking simple reports is enough for my daily needs, so it feels practical and useful.

**What do you dislike about Expensify?**

When I add many expenses on the same day, the list becomes long and it takes a little time to scroll and find a specific entry. Sometimes the filters and columns need a bit of exploring the first time, especially for reports. After regular use, this becomes manageable.

Earlier, I noted expenses in different places and small costs like fuel and printing were easy to miss. There was no single view to understand monthly spending.
With Expensify, I add expenses as they happen and attach the bills. Later, I can check category-wise reports and see my spending pattern over time. This has made my expense tracking more organized and helps me plan my clinic and work expenses better.

Expensify is a quicker and most user friendly software that helps us in managing and tracking all of our business expenses. As the software does not need to maintain a spreadsheet or MS Excel for different type of expenses and data entry. Most of these entries are done automatically just by clicking the pictures of invoices and bills.

**What do you dislike about Expensify?**

There are two major Challenges that I face while using expensify, the first one is that it was really difficult to integrated this tool with banks and our business credit cards as the verification process failed almost everytime and plus the scanner is also not 100% accurate and changes needs to be done manually most often

We have been using this tool from last 3 years to make sure that our finances are managed properly and we don't need to spend extra on finance managers and hire additional team for long run business growth and yearly business expense tracking.

I really like how easy it is to switch between personal and company cards with Expensify. It also does a great job at flagging inconsistencies for me, like when a date on a receipt doesn't match the date on the expense, it gives a little warning symbol. Additionally, managing reports for reimbursement on personal cards and verification on company cards is super simple. I found the initial setup of Expensify to be super easy, which was a big plus.

**What do you dislike about Expensify?**

Its integration with our banking system is glitchy - I constantly have to reconnect them. Also the receipt uploads are finicky with what format of a receipt it will accept (jpeg vs png vs pdf).

**What problems is Expensify solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Expensify solves the challenges of budgeting and verifying expenses across multiple cards and people, streamlines reports for reimbursements, and flags inconsistencies to proactively solve problems.

**What do you like best about Expensify?**

Expensify is a android based software that helps us in managing all of our day to day business expenses. This is the software that minimises the use of spreadsheet and track all the expenses and store their data on its cloud storage just by compiling all the bills and invoices photographs.

**What do you dislike about Expensify?**

Expensify scans all the receipts and invoices automatically and extract their data so there are lots of instances where the data accuracy reduces for those documents we need to manually update the data then and store it so whenever these type of scenario arises it becomes time consuming.

**What problems is Expensify solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The best feature of expensify is that it provides detailed reports of monthly expenses and it becomes easy for our account manager to calculate all the expenses and do future budget planning. As this software make sure that the manager has all the data related to finances on the tip of their hand.

**What do you like best about Expensify?**

Extremely user-friendly. I like that I can create and segregate different expense reports based on the expense category, and also view the entire chain of approvals. I personally like the SmartScan feature as well, where receipts can be uploaded directly by simply clicking a photo of them.

The insights feature providing a breakdown of spends by category is also very interesting

**What do you dislike about Expensify?**

There are issues with the scanner picking up the correct dates, so they still need to be manually corrected. Also, the support portal is a bit non user friendly and response times can get long

**What problems is Expensify solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Quick expense filing. It’s easy to keep a tab on all the reports and monitor their clearance status without having to constantly follow up with the payments team. The smart scan feature also makes it simple to upload all expense receipts.

Claiming fuel for a personal vehicle is extremely easy as well, since I can create the claim directly from the map by adding the start and end destination.

**What do you like best about Expensify?**

I find that this is a very easy tool to use.  I like the way it collates the weekly expenses into a report and helps me to identify each expense type.  using the app means I can quickly add/photo new expenses as I go.  I know the integrations with our back end systems are good, and we now have direct payments which is helpful.

**What do you dislike about Expensify?**

The app sometimes becomes unresponsive.  I also find that the scanning function isn't that great - I often have to add the expenses manually or correct it.  I guess that is based on AI, so I don't think that is up to scratch .  I guess the ROI is ok - better than having to do everything manually.  I did have an issue and I don't think either the AI Chat or the support team were much use - I had a co-worker help me in the end

**What problems is Expensify solving and how is that benefiting you?**

At at a basic level it had taken away any manual submitting of expenses.  The ability to simply photo an expense is super helpful, so saves me a lot of time - and generally it reduces faff.   It probably saves about 30 mins a month of my time which adds up.

Expensify’s website design and app are extremely strong and easy to use, with clearly organized sections and straightforward instructions for submitting expense reports. The UI/UX is clean, readable, and intuitive. I also appreciate the ability to take a photo of a receipt and automatically extract the necessary information for an expense report, which makes submitting reports much more straightforward.

**What do you dislike about Expensify?**

The main downside to Expensify is that there doesn’t seem to be a way to upload a company’s expense policy for quick, easy reference. In other expense apps I’ve used, the policy is linked directly within the app, so you can review it while you’re uploading receipts.

Easy uploads for expense reports without manually entering costs, which reduces the overall time it takes to submit a report with a large number of receipts.

I appreciate that it handles foreign transactions, reimbursements, and commenting quite well. Additionally, importing from credit card makes it much easier to add new expenses.

**What do you dislike about Expensify?**

1.) Unable to remove orphaned or receipts no longer needed
2.) Uploading receipts prevent editing details (it's trying to be too helpful, in an unhelpful way)
3.) Unable to create new reports on New Expensify when old version works; New Expensify is completely unusable for me
4.) Unable to include more than one image as a receipt; this can be particularly useful if context is needed; other expense platforms I have used in other companies allow more than one image per expense

**What problems is Expensify solving and how is that benefiting you?**

While not necessarily straightforward and it takes some time to ramp up, once you get the hang of it, it will get the job done. Some of the features and UI flow can be extremely frustrating or even non-functional, so you will have to figure out workarounds. For example, it's super helpful at times for the system to read from receipts and automatically input data; this is particularly helpful for foreign receipts. However, this prevents you from editing details for the next 2-3 minutes which is really inconvenient. As a workaround, I have to manually create expense entries, enter my information first, and then add a receipt so it won't block me. These are one of many workarounds one has to deal with in order to make the process more efficient.

**What do you like best about Expensify?**

I appreciate the ergonomics of Expensify, it's quite simple. What is really useful is the ease of scanning documents quickly or sending them directly by email. Then, Expensify does practically all the work, which makes the process much less manual. This allows me to save a lot of time, especially when I'm in a hurry or on the go. Additionally, the installation is very easy, which impressed me.

**What do you dislike about Expensify?**

I would say that from time to time when uploading a document, it usually needs to be corrected. I think there can be improvements on that. Then, for the mileage part, there is a lot of work to be done. Today, on mobile, it's almost impossible to justify mileage expenses, even with GPS. You have to go to the computer to be able to do it.

I use Expensify for my expense reports. It saves me time by quickly submitting an expense report, which makes my work less manual thanks to its simplicity and ease for scanning and sending documents.

I often collaborate across different teams and funding sources, so the ability to track where an expense sits in the pipeline is extremely helpful. One of the biggest benefits of Expensify is how it reduces back and forth around expenses. Once receipts are uploaded, most of the details are captured automatically, which removes a lot of manual checking.

**What do you dislike about Expensify?**

There are moments when receipt data needs adjustment, especially if the image quality isn't great. Some settings and policies take time to understand, particularly for new users.

**What problems is Expensify solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Expensify solves the problem of slow, manual expense processing. Before using it, tracking receipts and approvals required constant reminders and manual verification. Now expenses move through a clear workflow, approvals are faster, and reimbursements are easier to manage. This has saved time, reduced errors, and made expense reporting far less frustrating for both employees and finance teams.

What I appreciate most about Expensify is how straightforward and intuitive it makes the process of expense reporting and reimbursement. The automatic receipt scanning, expense categorization, and direct syncing with accounting systems such as QuickBooks or NetSuite save significant time and help minimize manual mistakes.

I also find it very convenient that the mobile app functions smoothly, enabling users to submit or approve expenses while on the move. This feature truly enhances efficiency for both employees and managers.

Expensify has significantly streamlined my work life. I can simply take a photo of a receipt, and the SmartScan feature automatically reads the details and pre-fills information according to my organization’s settings. This saves me valuable time that would otherwise be spent on manual entry and report preparation.

Completing any remaining fields and submitting reports to my supervisor is quick and effortless. The built-in GPS odometer tracker for mileage is also phenomenal — accurate and easy to use.

From a managerial standpoint, it’s just as efficient. For my team, reviewing and bulk-approving or rejecting reports is smooth and intuitive. Expensify makes the entire expense management process seamless for everyone involved.

Overall, it’s an excellent tool that simplifies both individual and organizational workflows. Highly recommended.

It will send a report automatically if it can. We try to just send our reports once a month, but if its able, it will send them at the end of each week. It is also a nightmare to try to look up past charges on Expensify

**What do you like best about Expensify?**

Fairly simple QBO integration. Easy for employees to use and submit expenses.

**What do you dislike about Expensify?**

Integration tradeoffs - If you want to export reports with multiple locations, you need to do so with a journal entry. Ex. Manager travels to different plants. But, expensify does not provide tax support for journal entries. If your expenses have tax rates - and what expenses don't have taxes - then your journal entry reports will fail often. This is not a supported pathway by expensify, not sure why they provide the option. 

Customer support - There is no account contact person. You have to use a generic chat service. The system seems designed to frustrate you out of getting help. It took days to start a ticket with them, I had to follow up every week to see if there was any progress, and was told they were working on it. I never got a resolution to the problem. Then was generically referred to their FAQ section.

**What problems is Expensify solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Expensify helped us move from excel sheets to a software. Employees adopted it easily.

**What do you like best about Expensify?**

It is easier to track expenses and I believe its easy to view and approve the expenses as well. I like the category wise bifurcation. On my laptop, it flows nicely and the legacy version, in my opinion, is more versatile. Payments and reimbursements are better there as you can easily create a report there. I use it every week to submit bills with my company.

**What do you dislike about Expensify?**

I would prefer it was also segregated date wise and a subtotal was displaced for each date. Mobile app needs improvement. It could be similar to SmartReceipts app where it is much easier to upload and submit the receipts. The UI needs a lot of improvement. The team should focus on the app from the perspective of a new user and right now for a first time user, its a bit confusing. Also, the app reached through the inbox option should be the face of the app when you log in. Also, the SQL sorting that the app uses is not great as it returns false data.

**What problems is Expensify solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps me manage expenses and submit them for approval every week. I like the following features: 
1. reports to group together expenses
2. Category wise allocation of expenses.
3. The map feature for mileage even though it might not reflect the realtime miles travelled. 
4. The legacy app - very convenient to use

There’s not much to dislike, but sometimes the mobile app can feel a bit slow when uploading receipts. A few small improvements in syncing speed and customization options for reports would make it perfect.

I really love Expensify's help. It's straightforward and streamlined, making finding what you need and determining where to put your receipts easy. I also appreciate the email notifications that let me know when reimbursement is on its way, and that’s really helpful. It gives me great feedback as a user to know when something's been submitted and provides communication and notification of the timeline and verification. I also found the initial setup was really easy, though it took me a couple of times to get the hang of where to put in the receipts and better use the product.

i really appreciate how intuitive and automated expensify is when it comes to expense management. The smart scan feature is ultimate, it eliminates manual data entry by extracting details from receipts accurately. this saves me a ton of time and reduces errors which is critical when working with multiple clients and internal teams. the mobile app is another highlight, being able to to approve or submit reports on the go is incredibly convenient for my fast paced work environment.

there is an occasional lag in smartscan processing during peak times which can slow down expense submission.

the mobile functionality is a major benefit. it allows me to submit expenses on the go, reducing delays and improving overall efficiency. Expensify turns a traditionally tedious process into something almost effortless which is huge boost. It also addresses the challenge of integrating expense data with accounting systems which eliminates duplicate work and speeds up month end close.

I like that Expensify automatically uploads my receipts directly into the platform, providing convenience and saving time. I appreciate the user-friendly interface that simplifies the process. It automatically categorizes expenses for me and connects directly to ride share apps, making the expense report process seamless and accurate. It's also great that Expensify integrates with other apps. The initial setup was very easy and took less than 5 minutes.

I wish Expensify would require my approval first before submitting reports to my Manager, so I can provide a description for each expense before submission. However, I do appreciate the fact that it automatically submits my expense reports so that I don't miss the deadline or forget to turn them in each month. Great software!

Expensify is a great, reliable tool for corporate reimbursements for business trips and other expenses that can be covered by a company. It is very user-friendly and intuitive and it really helps with keeping all expense reports organized each month. The process from uploading invoices/receipts to completing and submitting an expense report to be approved by a manager/finance department is seamless and can be done in a matter of minutes.

I had an issue when submitting my first expense report because my manager had not been assigned as the approver of my expenses but it was solved quickly.
