I was just assigned an outsourced payroll partner. I previously worked with a payroll partner based in the US, but now my payroll contact is in India, and that change doesn’t make me happy. As I mentioned, running a business in CA is difficult, and having a payroll person in the US is important to me. I did let my HRBP know and she is going to address the issue for me. Also the wait times to get ahold of an appropriate person in payroll is annoying. The health insurance we were offered wasn’t very fair for employees with families. In my case, I found out I was pregnant three weeks after I started my job. I was on a 90-day payroll period, and because I went to the doctor before I became eligible, my short-term disability was denied as a “pre-existing condition.” I didn’t find out it had been denied until three weeks postpartum.
